Irix-tan is depicted as a woman of average height. light build and medium endowment, with bright blue hair swept into an elaborate up-do and hair decorations. She dresses in an outlandish, mostly blue gown, incorporating a deep v-neck bodice, large collar, cape, and wide skirt, metallic geometric jewelry and large, near-opaque sunglasses styled somewhat like a masquerade mask. Of the entire Unix family, she is said to be the most aesthetically-minded and pays great attention to her looks and outfits.
Irix-tan possesses the server and workstation skills of an average Unix; however she specializes in graphics and visualization and for this she has become famous. She possesses the ability to conjure indicate visual constructions, anything ranging from spectacular light shows to highly detailed virtual worlds. These constructs can be used to creative and peaceful ends - and indeed, she is quite popular among artists, filmmakers and scientists - as well as destructive or defensive ones, such as overloading an attacker's sensory system with disorienting lights or trapping them in a terrible nightmare-scape.
She is quite proud of her abilities and often uses them in her day-to-day life, something that puts her at odds with the traditionally stern and excitement-averse old school Unices - particularly UNIX-tan, who finds her daughter's visual shows rather distracting and bothersome, and tires to ignore them at all costs.
