That's so fucking cool!

The 2Tb smashnug NVMe I bought 4 months ago for 130 euros is now 350.

Some cheaper NVMe are still "sort of" in reasonable pricerange. Ordered a 250gb PNY NVMe for my raspberry pi for 65euros just couple days ago. Not a normal price for sure, but not insanely inflated like with larger drives.

So with Discord becoming just a corporate data-harvesting platform, I've looked at alternatives and stumbled upon this Canadian based Linux group's project.

They're claiming encrypted P2P messaging. All data stays on local systems, no middle man. For registering you dont give them any info, not even email. Just type in a username you want, and done, you've got Jami.

Very wide platform support too.

Having used it for a couple days now, it seems quite competent, with only bugs on the Winslop 11, unsurprisingly. Has kinda old MSN Messenger/Skype vibes to it, with some clearly modern bits taken from Discord in design.

Thoughts?

Thank you! I'm happy with how the composition turned out. I like red and yellow as accent colors for ENIAC-heika.

Multics-sama & company!
- Multics doing her powers. Decided she should have cool yellow glowing eyes when doing things. (Not just as an homage to the old alternate color map.)
- Ojousama laugh!
- She should have a punched card hand fan.
- 60s/70s contemporary outfits! Trying something short & mod. Also something flowy and 70s prairie dress / victorian revival-esque. Not sure if I like. The more I consider it the more appropriate Multics-sama having a look that's extremely baroque and detached from time feels like the right choice.
- Multics-chan & CTSS-sama! Soft launching my idea for CTSS-tan having red/blue eyes with this.
- Beach day, looming over ITS-san.

Quote from: Bella on February 08, 2026, 06:31:45 PMI'll be back with a full picture for ENIAC-heika's 80th birthday but have a chibi ENYAC in the meantime.

EDIT: Forgot the seam between her neck/head. Fixed!

Ahhh, that's a cute chibi!  Cute and menacing cat, here to celebrate her big day!

The full size birthday art is amazing!  I like the way you've got the cables splayed out from her hands.  The layout as a whole is very good, I like the way the eye is draw to ENIAC-heika in the middle then out to her work scattered around.  Little pops of color like the shells and cards are a good contrast with the monochrome everything else.

Quote from: VonDaab on February 18, 2026, 03:41:09 PMNow there are rumors about prices for copper and gold going up, which would affect all electronics.

So I went and bought bits for my AM4 system. Going to build small-ish this time around. mATX. Ryzen5600, Arc B580. I've stockpiled enough ram to put 32Gb into it, have to see if I go with that amount, as Linux is very competent even on only 16Gb.

The case for the build. More PCs should have handles.

Love that case. Stylish and practical!

Considering the amount of activity here, I don't think necroposting is really an issue.
Usually necroing has been frowned upon is for bringing up old threads that might not be relevant anymore and pushing down newer topics. But I dont think it's really an issue on this forum.
