UNIX: Difference between revisions

Unix-tan is depicted as a short, pale-skinned woman in her mid-late teens. She has long, near-black purple hair with lighter streaks, and a pair of dark gray horned owl ears.<ref>[https://www.ostan-collections.net/forum/index.php/topic,496.msg33653.html#msg33653 "I wanted to choose something that represented age and wisdom AND had some physical appeal AND hasn't been seen in Anime before. In addition, the horned owl has been used to anthropomorphize Unix on some occasions(...)"]</ref> Her eyes are piercing, intimidating and inquisitive, deep blue with electric blue Bell Laboratory logos implanted over her pupils.<ref>[https://www.ostan-collections.net/forum/index.php/topic,496.msg33653.html#msg33653 Described by C-Chan as "a quaint tribute to a harsher and savage era"]</ref> She wears brow-line glasses and simple monochrome-colored clothing, most typically boots, a blazer, sweater-vest, shirt, tie and pleated skirt with perforated "UNIX" accents, or a long-sleeved knee-length black dress. Since the early 1990s she has used a wheelchair, either a power model or a portable manual one.  

She carries a polished aluminum staff with a variety of inscribed Roman numerals. While it mostly functions as a ceremonial sceptre, it doubles as a weapon. Unix-tan's values have fluctuated throughout her lifetime. She started off as an unwitting pioneer of Open Sourcery, but abandoned her early ideas on communality for the sake of material gains, turning into a greedy industrialist for a time. The Unix Wars made her reevaluate her morals, <ref>[https://www.ostan-collections.net/forum/index.php/topic,466.msg38789.html#msg38789 "I imagine that the reason why UNIX-sama changed after the UNIX wars was because she felt a macabre kind of peace in the knowledge that she finally got what was coming to her"]</ref> becoming an ''Open Sourceress'' in the process.<ref>[https://edu.anarcho-copy.org/UNIX/unix-version-7/x86-port/www.nordier.com/v7x86/ Referencing Unix V7 being released under a Berkeley-type License]</ref> Throughout her life, she has cultivated and maintained a set of values known as ''Unix Philosophy'', which is practiced by her daughters and acolytes, becoming a cornerstone of their society.
