Currently the limits are 500px wide and 90px high with a limit of 50kb on the filesize, but all of this is currently under discussion.

Folks are having trouble with the poll, so I'd recommend not voting and just letting your vote be known in the thread instead.  In the meantime, the dimensions listed above are the strict parameters.
