QuoteTall, authoritative, intelligent, outside-the-normal-gender-roll-box women: yes!

Does that include freakisly tall over bearing loud mouth TS girls with ban hammers?  I soppose I lack the Intelligence part according to some.

QuoteMale reporters standing on platforms: Morons.

QuoteI don't see the problem with the reporter standing on a platform. IMO, people are just trying too hard to find something that isn't there (as in ZOMG MALE SUPERIORITY COMPLEX).

Thats what I said in not so many words ._.

and

QuoteWMDs in Iraq: I can't say I believe in them. I don't disrespect those who do believe they were there; just the evidence doesn't stack up for me.

I soppose the perspective is differnt from the inside.  Its not like I can divulge every breifing I received or anything tho...   Plus, they did fire SAMs the UN weapon inspectors failed to find at us within 24 hours of the war start.

Quote from: "Bella"Oh. My. God. I'm frickin dizzy after reading all this!

So quickly:

Tall, authoritative, intelligent, outside-the-normal-gender-roll-box women: yes!

Male reporters standing on platforms: Morons.

WMDs in Iraq: I can't say I believe in them. I don't disrespect those who do believe they were there; just the evidence doesn't stack up for me.

9/11: NOT AN INSIDE JOB. NOT.

Arguments: Civil!

Second everything you said, right on the money Bella-san!  You have it in you to say things the way I never could.

Well at least until you were sceaming obseanities and making personal attacks. Hell i soppose the easiest way to tell that your angry is your making typos as bad as I do normaly. Some of those sentences didnt even quite make sense.

I was already well pissed off since early yesterday, plus sleep-deprived, plus in the midst of installing a dual-boot on a friend's machine (yes, for Linux, but he still wanted Windows, and it was a bitch to migrate and streamline all that crap strewn all over his C:\ drive).  Poor diction sickens me and makes me feel dirty.

I appreciate the show of restraint, but I'm not going to accept any apology, certainly not if, deep-down inside, you'll always feel compelled to "bite your toung[sic]".  Why would you do that for me?  I'm not your friend, and worse, I represent everything that's wrong in your world.  I know how unbearable it feels to hold my own tongue while someone spouts off abuse and nonsense that gets people killed, perhaps to make a buck or keep their job or maybe hide some dirty secret.

Nah,... you said yourself your sick of liars and so am I.

The day you genuinely, from the bottom of your heart, realize why you should apologize for anything, then you'll know enough by then not to waste your time with a loser who acts like a talking pig.  There'll be more than enough people, both home and abroad, who can use, at the very least, a good apology.

Are you a petty Mod?  I can't really say I care,... I'd rather you just focus on being a good cop.  The less psychopaths there are in the American police forces, the less you become like the Mexican ones.

Do I want to continue this discussion elsewhere?  No.
I don't like this subject, even if it draws me like a moth to an electric lamp.  It was my fault to begin with for breaking my own Cardinal Rule of not dragging my personal life here.  I've spent a lot of time and a lot of money to keep this place a bastion of sanity for me, and I'm not going to ruin it the same way I ruined my old chat group.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm through with this and am not going to talk about this anymore.

Sorry for the disruption and for ignoring all the posts that followed.

That sounds like what happened with this forum I posted at for awhile...people  would just get so personally entrenched into these long arguments on politics/religion/or whatever else they felt deeply about : /

At least the folks at this forum seem to have more respect toward each other...

Indeed, these are all things that people hold close to them... with good reason.  I mean, without that passion, how would any of us ever be motivated to get anything done?  Those who become dispassionate and jaded generally go on to become politically apathetic because they feel there's nothing they can do to cause change (I know because I find myself walking a little more of this road daily).  I really don't know if that's the right thing to do... it's pretty retreatist.  So I must say having passion and conviction for a cause you truly support is an admirable quality... holding fast through adversity is exceptionally difficult.

I think it's more that we understand that this OS-tan forum is pretty much the only one we got.  If we let some unrelated squabble interfere or destroy it, than we've really f**ked ourselves.  Basically I think he's got the right idea, we should really try and act, not forget (let's face it, that's impossible), like this never happened.  What's important is that cooler heads seemed to have eventually prevailed, that rarely happens in political discussions.

True, but what I also meant to say was that some of these people really held grudges toward one another, and some took everything (even very general complaints or discussions, as in "I like this or that") hyper-personally...

I myself tried to avoid such arguments, but it's not always so easy...

Just ended up being a very hostile forum, at least in my mind : |

SleepyD

ah.... the online argument.

subject to misunderstandings due to lack of visual, auditory, and other cues.  Let's small things explode into something massive. Also has a very strong tendency to go absolutely nowhere.

At least this argument was nipped in the bud. I didn't even think there was too much hostility here......

I have noticed that I tend to go out of my way to avoid arguments and conflict... They do make me quite uncomfortable.  I don't think I take this avoidance to an extreme... I just prefer cool-headed debate and compromise. ^^

But if my values and other things I hold dear are questioned, I won't hesitate to stand up for what I believe in.  ....although, that doesn't happen very often. ...rarely in fact.  I wonder if it's because I'm open-minded or if I just don't care?  *ponders*

mah, I'll spare you my musings about the inner workings of my mind. They tend to turn into "chicken and the egg" type questions. XD;

Hey, isn't that a bit early?

Also, test weeks SUCK DOUBLE TIME.

Added after 2 minutes:

Three English B tests in three days, and one maths test this monday - PLUS a damn visit to the dentist, and a visit to the Natural History Museum with my biology class (which was damn enjoyable, but still a damn arduous way to go), and upcoming Chemistry and Biology tests next week, is definitely QUANTUM SUCK.

Whew, it's over.
We wouldn't want this forum to turn into /b/.

On a lighter note.

Today is the day I take pics of my PC collection.
Expect them to be posted later.

NejinOniwa

Nay! /b/ is THAT way, not here! Hah.

On a further, more shiny note, today is the day that Captain receives the official "Damn Savvy Pirate Material" award.

(It's just a very big booty box, really)

All you need to do is learn some savvy saberdancing instead of gunhail, knit a bandana 'round yer locks or get a real flashy hat, learn the REALLY savvy vocabulary, and you're all set to hoist yer flag, cast the lines and sail off.

Examples of this procedure is shown below!

BEFORE...

AFTER!

It is a cursed item and you can never un-equip it, so don't worry about losing it. It will follow you around, always, just like Rencewind's Luggage.
