QuoteI cannot adjust to this crazy Halo/Star Trek combo.

Starcraft, not Star Trek ;_;

Zalian

There's one Star Trek thing in there. Starcraft was only early on.

You can only get HIV from drinking blood if there is a cut or wound somewhere in your mouth or on the way down to the stomach. So naturally as long as you don't eat abrasive foods then you should be fine...

Although, now that I think about it most vampires have long fangs that often cause cuts to the tongue or cheek. On the other hand, most actual "vampires" (as in not goth posers) have significantly altered genetic makeup and immune system so as to make them immune to the infiltration and attacks of the HIV virus.

...I must be pretty bored to argue about this.

actually, Starcraft and Halo went through most of the posts, Star Trek was just one post and yet receives all the credit T_T

I'm about to drop the hammer...and dispense some indiscriminate justice!

We are going to blow the hell out of those dumb bugs until we don't have anything left to shoot them with. Then we will strangle them with their own living guts!

QuoteI must be pretty bored to argue about this.

Yes you must be quite bored, since there is room for ambiguity in many situations. Obviously HIV transmission risk increases with infections, irritations, or other breaks in skin and mucous membranes - including gingivitis and dental caries (cavities);  The passage from your lips to your stomach is a long way to travel. Yet some studies have shown that about 22% of children ingesting breast milk from HIV infected mothers contract the virus.

QuoteAlthough, now that I think about it most vampires have long fangs that often cause cuts to the tongue or cheek. On the other hand, most actual "vampires" (as in not goth posers) have significantly altered genetic makeup and immune system so as to make them immune to the infiltration and attacks of the HIV virus.

You must be extremely bored! ^-^
While true, some species of vampire have elongated fangs, they typically have adapted tougher mouths. Those that don't... well, they just lose blood quicker. Poor them.
As for "actual vampires" being immune to disease... well, there is a lot of room for argument there. True "Classical" Vampires would, in theory, be entirely immune to typical human diseases, given their substantially differing metabolistical structure. Yet few classical vampires are seen today (perhaps for obvious reasons) Thus one must also consider the more recent strains of vampirism. Firstly, given the scarcity of vampires to begin with, finding a mate is significantly harder. While there is the option of siring an youngling, this can be both very hard and very dangerous. Not many vampires are trained in this procedure, and it goes against our instincts. If you do manage to properly sire a new vampire, you must still be careful, as the newborn will be extremely thirsty (Obviously, you did drain most of their blood! ^-^). Never forget that your blood (or rather, the blood in your body) is just as appetizing to them as any others. Now given that we are dealing with strains still capable of human type reproduction, this seems an easier alternative. As you have mentioned already, there seems to be a significant class of "goth posers" as you put it. Obviously, most of these would jump at the possibility of mating with a "real vampire" and thus would produce a damphyr. Now depending on genetic conditions, this damphyr may rather close in it's tendencies to it's vampire parent  but from this point onward the line will never be pure. Though impure, the damphyr would, however, in the eyes of "goth posers" and a good portion of the world, qualify as a full vampire. Once again, the damphyr would then reproduce, weakening the strain even further. Invariably, one would end up with a species of vampire that vastly outnumber the others, which contained weak-bloods and hybrids who require blood, and yet also have more... human necessities.
Wow, I must be bored too! All of that, just to prove that some vampires are not immune to HIV

Ah! So I've heard. Unfortunately, it contains high levels of caffeine, which I tend to avoid. Thanks for the tip, though!
I've found Honey Lemon Tea works too though Herbal  or Mint Tea is preferable ^__^

Really? You like it? ^__^

Zalian

Ah, I forgot about the whole "mating with humans to produce a damphyr" thing. Weakening the strain is supposed to be a last resort, isn't it? I suppose that then only pure-bloodline and those close enough to it would be immune to HIV as you said.

Is siring a new vampire really difficult? I thought that the only risk was them getting killed off or starving to death. But they might be strong enough to attack you? Oy.

I'm glad I'm not a vampire... It sounds like hard work. -.-

Well personally I prefer the term "goatsucker", but yeah, since vampires are so popular here, why not discuss the bloodsucker from below the border?
