• • - Is feisty, bold, charismatic straightforward and wants to be a leader, but is childish and has a one-track mind.
  • - Is scatterbrained and speaks primarily in newspeak (despite the irony of being an aggressive non-conformist in her youth) because it's easier for her.
  • - Is stronger than she looks and wields a hammer as her weapon of choice.
  • - Still regards herself as a vigilante fighting against tyranny, even though her glory days are long behind her.
  • - Had a rough upbringing before her public debut in 1984, having been forced by Lisa to be her servant.
  • - Was happy to become independent and speak out against Lisa, but now feels sorry for her.
  • - Means well and strives to be a mother figure to all the Mac-tans, though nearly all of them treat her as a little sister figure who needs to be cared for.

• • - Looks much like System 1-tan, but has two side ponytails, wears a sash, and a sleeveless dress.
  • - Is observant, witty, and intelligent but desperate for attention and gets forgotten a lot.
  • - Even worse is that unlike the rest of her family, she isn't a good fighter at all.
  • - Appears calm at a first glance.
  • - Likes to give long lectures, read classic literature and discuss philosophy.
  • - Carries around a duck puppet to assist in her lectures to make them more entertaining, with varying amounts of success.
  • - Despite being highly intelligent, she is misunderstood, with few believing what she says.
  • - Cares for her family, but really hates that she cannot be taken seriously, and gets aggressive when ignored. Swears she will get the last laugh some day.

• Quick Facts:

• • -Has a bubbly and cheerful disposition.
  • - Loves to wear old-fashioned clothing dyed with unnaturally-vibrant colors.
  • - Gets along with all her sisters, but shares the best chemistry with Mac OS4, Mac OS8, OS9, and OSX Tiger.
  • - Is very cheerful, friendly and outgoing, and has great social skills.
  • - Is the least stable Mac-tan, has a huge fear of bugs and is klutzy.
  • - More efficient and better-organized than her predecessors but still cannot multitask.
  • - A competent fighter with improvised weapons, but only able to show her skills when provoked enough, which doesn't happen easily.
  • - Loves shopping and tinkering with old gadgets, though back in her youth, she introduced new technologies to the Apple Family.
  • - Very fond of OS9-kun, sometimes over-protective. Because of this, she has a rivalry with Windows ME.

• Quick Facts:
  • - Has a cheerful and carefree disposition, but also hides an inferiority complex and is known to be fussy at times. (First Mac OS to exclude a Mac model)
  • - Her inferiority complex stems from several things-she can't multitask as well as her younger sisters, introduced only one remarkable feature (MultiFinder in System 4.2), also because of her obscurity, and she felt she failed as a parent.
  • - Is the adoptive mother of Mac System 5, 6 and 7.
  • - Was bitter and depressed in the late 80's, after her own quick obsolescence, Mac System 5's death, Mac System 6's insanity and near-death.
  • - When Mac System 7 turned out to be happy and healthy, her worries waned.
  • - Is stronger than she looks, and has a surprisingly huge appetite. (4.0 excluded the original Mac 128k, 4.1 excluded the 512k)
  • - Used to clash a lot with Mac System 1 over leadership, especially who would be the matriarch, and criticizing Mac System 4 for being a glutton. But now they get along very well.

  • - Died very young of illness, but lives on as a ghost who hangs out with either the Mac House or the Binteeji Renmei.
  • - Like her older relatives, she is semi-retired.
  • - Is invisible to many individuals outside of the Mac circle, but her voice can be heard.
  • - Is quiet, cheerful and friendly.
  • - A talented magician, fortune-teller, organ-player and trickster.
  • - Wears a vaguely Victorian-style purple and white dress, black gloves, cloak, and white boots. Sometimes also wears a "Phantom Of The Opera" style mask.
  • - Wields a magician wand which she uses for magic tricks and multitasking. (her wand represents Multifinder, which was an add-on in System Software 5/System 4.2)

• • -Was sickly and unstable at birth, had been known to lash out violently if her strength allowed it.
  • -Was soon deathly ill, but her life was saved in late '88-early '89 when she was remade into a nearly immortal cyborg using technology from the future.
  • -Scatterbrained, yet is fast, extremely strong, determined and remarkably stable. (Went from being the least stable Mac OS to one of the most stable.)
  • -Close friends with her stepsister A/UX, who helped her the most with self-improvement in her youth. The two even have a friendly rivalry together.
  • -Was one of the first Mac-tans to befriend NeXTSTEP, is also one of the few to not be scared by OSX Cheetah's antics.

Mac OS8

• Name: Mac OS 8-tan
• aka: Mac OS 7.7 (former), "Tempo", "Veronica"
• Debut: 7/26/1997

• Quick Facts:
  • - Has always had a happy and optimistic disposition, but has also grown up to become a bold and foolhardy fighter.
  • - Volunteered to fight in the thick of the PC-Mac OS war at a very young age; though it nearly cost her her life, she was pivotal in turning the fortunes of Apple around.
  • - Formerly known as Mac OS 7.7-tan, her name change was to exploit a loophole to discontinue the Mac Clones, which she was ordered to fight against.
  • - Also managed to save NeXTSTEP-tan's life at one point, who in return became a loyal friend of the Mac-tans and "godparent" to the OSX-tans.
  • - Keeps her short, topped with a rainbow Apple beret similar to her old Apple swimcap, and a bondi blue bandana.
  • - Dons a grey shirt with an "8"-shaped necklace, bondi blue shoes, and choice of either a rainbow Apple or bomb-themed skirt.
  • - Is still fairly scratched up from the war, and still keeps her left leg wrapped in bandages out of a warped sense of fashion.
  • - Is a proficient bomb-wielder, and often accompanies Mac-tan on the daily "sorties" against perverts.

Mac OSX Server

• • -Is friendly, motherly and cheerful, but is a shut-in. (not released to the public)
  • -Does not like to go outside or be seen in public if it can be helped. However, she has made some progress in recent years. (has some hobbyist following)
  • -Mother of Darwin OS and the OSX-tans, is NeXTSTEP's biological sister, and cousin of A/UX. Was adopted into the Mac culture by the Classic Mac-tans.
  • -Her daughters and the Classic-tans, though not related by code consider each other sisters just the same.
  • -Serves food and homemade apple cider to guests.
  • -Is diplomatic, and is the official Mac House ambassador.
  • -Friends with Solaris, Windows NT and 95 OSR 2.5.

  • -Is Apple I's oldest daughter and the oldest living member of the Apple Family.
  • -One of the co-founders of the Binteeji Renmei.
  • -Usually dons a set of red+white Edo-era Japanese farm clothes, a white kerchief and straw hat, and her hair is usually braided.
  • -Maintains an apple orchard, and teaches others how to grow their own gardens.
  • -Has a golden apple-shaped locket containing a black+white photo of Apple I in memory of her.
  • -Is hard-working, rugged, friendly, witty, and great story-teller.
  • -Serves as a big sister and parental figure to all of the Apple-tans, and served as a teacher figure to the Apple Family when she lived with them.
  • -Still maintains close ties with the Mac-tans after her departure in 1993, and is in fact even closer to them than she was before.
  • -Sad that she had neglected much of her family, being too busy with work before she retired.
  • -Is Lisa's caregiver, not just out of sisterly love or pity, but also as part of Apple I's parting wish.

  • -Born in 1978 (when development started), she was a cheery and proud young girl, but Apple I-tan's death sparked a series of mental breakdowns she'd later have.
  • -By the time of her grand debut in 1980, her attitude worsened and became a pyromaniac.
  • -Only got along with Apple I and II. Tried to improve herself (without much success) and left the family in 1984.
  • -Lives with her followers on a remote island and observatory.
  • -Has huge ambitions and the desire for self-redemption.
  • -Used to dislike the Mac-tans, but became proud of them after hearing of their remarkable recovery efforts after the OS Wars.
  • -But being a failure, she was for a long time too ashamed to ever see her relatives again.
  • -Is friends with SAGE, GENIAC and Adam.
  • -Within the past year, she has gotten enough courage to visit the Binteeji Renmei, to visit GENIAC and the Apple-tans there.
  • -Wears a black jumpsuit with a cloak and boots and decorates her hair with metal hair clips.

  • -Likes to make up conspiracies and is even the subject of some herself since there are no comprehensive records of her past.
  • -Lives as a wanderer by choice and is a traveling stunt performer.
  • -Is allegedly Macintosh System 6-tan's twin sister. (System 3.4 used the same Finder version as System 6.0.x) They used to have a bitter rivalry but have reconciled as friends.
  • -Her closest friends are Commodore 65-tan and Windows 3.2-tan, and the three of them are usually seen together.
  • -Initially felt she had no purpose in life because of her obscurity, so early in her life, she left the Apple Family to pursue her own dreams.
  • -Now she is very bold and confident and no longer cares about her obscurity. She has found a lot of satisfaction in her work.
  • -Has cheated death many times, much to her own amazement, but knows she is living on borrowed time (any day could be her last) and strives to make the most of it.

• Quick Facts:
  • -Born at Lincoln Labs in 1953, is the daughter of Whirlwind.
  • -Had a close relationship with her mother despite rarely being with her
  • -Girlhood friends with GENIAC-chan.
  • -Was self-assured and capable in early adulthood.
  • -A powerful Air Force officer during the Cold War, her job was to intercept incoming enemy bombers; had a large entourage of hardwares-tans to assist her. She trained in piloting as well.
  • -While powerless against ICBMs, she was kept in service from 1958 to 1983.
  • -A willing servant of her country, she tried to hold onto her sense of self-worth but it slowly eroded.
  • -Became increasingly jaded and psychologically-unstable; being abandoned in 1983 was her snapping point.
  • -Cut off from her radar sites and assistants, she lost her vision, memories and sanity for the most part.
  • -Lives as a drifter and often inhabits her old radar sites.
  • -Psychotic and paranoid, she deals with loneliness and bouts of violence.
  • -Hates most smaller-scale OS-tans, but none so much as Unix
  • -Birds seem attracted to her but she hates them.
  • -Lapses into moments of mental clarity.
  • -Doesn't seem aware of the influence she's had on modern computers.
