Mahoromatic has been alright till now, but I found the characters to be a bit cliche.  Rozen Maiden, on the other hand, offers a welcomed change of pace from the ordinary.  -v-

Well, I haven't really done much computing lately, but I'm getting to it again. I really need a CD-ROM to go with this Amiga, because shuffling floppy disks and/or using a serial link from a PC (57.6Kbit/second) really isn't the best or fastest way to get data onto an Amiga anymore it seems. So now I'm gonna look into that.

I can use a regular CD-ROM (which god knows I have plenty of), but I need a controller which allows me to use a harddrive and the CD-ROM together. (since the internal controller only allows one device at a time). There's a store here in Norway which specializes in Amiga hardware, so I'll have to go look at their web pages to find out what to buy.

I agree. Rozen Maiden offers a buffet of rich characters to choose from. But if you really want cliches, look at an episode of Love Hina then one of Negima. If you look closely, they are almost the same story lines. As for character, Akamatsu takes a slightly modified main character, then splits the personalities of the girls for each of his subsequent series to create even more girls. However, the idea of 30+ girls seems to drive deprived otaku wild. Imagine...

Now that you mentioned it, Love Hina and Negima do seem awfully similar. For example:

Naru is a lot like Asuna and Chisame
Shinobu is a lot like Nodoka and Fumika
Mitsune is a lot like Kaede
Motoko is a lot like Mana and Setsuna
Kaolla is a lot like Fei, Satomi, Chao and Fuuka

Plus there's the harem genre, male lead who transfers to where the girls live, the pantyshots (Not what I read LH or Negima for, mind you!), the male lead's disasterous first encounter with the fiery-tempered main girl...

I know LH and Negima are cliché but there's something about them I really like though!

There is an x-factor to both series that I cannot put my finger on. A certain quality that separates them from the rest of the pack.
