QuoteI used to live in upstate NY for a semester of college, and I love it up there. Very natural, very eco-friendly. Unlike here, where eating your weight in greasy food seems to be a badge of honor.

I can relate to that experience, it seems like every other day I'm going on about how great Austin, TX is compared to where I live -__-.

Seriously though, Texas gets a bad rep for being rednecky and/or backwards, but Austin is totally not like that at all (well there are rednecks there, but few).

QuoteI have a few friends around here, but I keep to myself most of the time. I've had some bad things happen to me because I went looking for friends, and I am a unmarried Southern girl of child bearing age -.-

why do southern girls always seem to be in a rush to get married and have kids? oy oy oy

Tradition... it befuddles me too.  Guys get rushed into it, too.  I used to think I wanted to, then I found the joy of porn... and then strip clubs, yay!

Meh, too many people are having kids.  I used to hate them until I was in the waiting room for my sister's pregnancy.  Seeing someone just before and just after they have a kid really messes with your head.  Anyway, I already have enough nieces and a nephew, so I'm not really interested in having any of my own.  I'm also not that interested in tying myself down, of course, I don't really have a lot to offer right now anyway... so it works out.

The Cap is a crazy cat lady, har...

Tradition, and pressure. You would be surprised in this day and age how many boyfriends insist their girlfriends listen to everything they say, or get beat or emotionally abused if they try to leave. Don't believe all this "southern girls are tough!" crap you hear about - its all covering quite a sick culture.

IanDanKilmaster, I know right! I have a friend who lives a hour outside of Austin in GiddingS! I went to visit him, and I actually fell in love with Texas. And here I thought I would have to battle the Super Devil the moment I got off the plane.

when we went to Austin, we went to The House of Torment, we went to the mall and I got a lot of stuff I couldn't get here, and then we went to the Alamo, of course, and saw Bill Mahers new film.

I can't wait to move back. <3 Oh, and I got my first, erm "bedroom aide" there that wasn't mechanical in some way.

Too true -__-.  My sister was just talking to me about the whole Rihanna/Chris Brown thing the other day - she was surprised about young couple abuse.  When she said that, I was like "Bitch, did we go to the same school?".  Of course, I'm kidding about what I said, but still I let her know that this was quite common in high school (and I'm pretty sure is still common with those people).

My cousin talked about going to the House of Torment while I was there, but my brother decided it was lame, so he (my cousin) and I just went to a party instead.  The Alamo?  You mean Drafthouse?  My brother's a manager there, it's pretty awesome (I've got a deal of swag, I might post pics of sometime).  I wanted to see Religulous myself, but sadly it never happened.  I'm normally not that big a fan of Mahers, but the trailers for the movie really turned me around.

That's interesting because I went to my first gentlemen's club while I was there, lol.

Isn't that the case with about everyplace?
I mean the shitho- village i grew up in, is a great place to live if you want to raise a family and want peace and quiet... But if you want a decent place to spend a friday- or saturday night, go to a city...
I dont tell you how to tell me what to do, so dont tell me how to do what you tell me to do... Bender the Great) :/

Well, for me that isn't so true.  Even in this small town, there's plenty creeps and loonies - sure it's quiet, but not a place I'd recommend to start a family.

QuoteI am from BC, Canada!

Howdy, neighbor from the north.  I think you're only the second Canadian we've had in this forum (of course, I haven't been around long enough to know that for sure).  Anyway, that's pretty cool (no that's not a temperature pun -__-; ).

Haha! Np :D When some people on our vent channel found out a bunch of us on there were Canadian they mentioned the whole aboot thing (instead of about) so now we bug em with it every so often tossing in aboot and eh and such (though we don't use them in our regular speech) :P. Tis fun stuff.

Wow, The House of Torment was utterly awesome. I assure you the reason he said it was "lame" was because he more than likely got scared by the promo videos they have going on in front of the house. And the 15 foot tall demon in front did it, as seen here -

It was quite funny seeing all the tough 13 year olds puffing themselves up, and then coming out shaking and scared. One kid even pulled a fire alarm instead of telling the monsters, like you're supposed to, to get out.

I. . . got very "happy" in my pants. Fear is my utter turn on. I was scared, I was dripping with sweat, and I would have let 50 overweight Asian men take a run at me. at the end.

Pfftt, no. I got Chloroform for that. I got a 8 inch, red, lifelike "toy" if you will, who is named "Superman" for the name. And yeah, you have to be a special mix of independent, crazy, nerd guru to live in Texas. Everything is spread out, and if you don't like long drives you are screwed.
