Ohh...man. The last month has been a blur wrapped in a drunken stagger! Something about the cosine of theta, Jay and Silent Bob, New Urbanism, taiko, FLCL not arriving on schedule, peak oil, how I can't pronounce "mille-feuille", PSAT's, running an airline, the New Pacific Order, Second Impact, energy transfer, the Rise of Napoleon, and an unusual dream which included Kaohsiung, Mizuho Kazami, and Halo: Combat Evolved. I've had so much stuff to do, that I've begun to confuse my classmates names with those of anime characters. Apparently I have become so sleep-deprived that I called my friend "Orange-kun" for a whole day. And now I'm listening to "GOD KNOWS" for the 4237th time. Somehow, I discovered a few things about the universe. I call them "Yinzer's Seven Precepts":
1. Stephen Colbert is America (And So Can You!)
2. It is alright to laugh at Ritusko's mother choking Rei I
3. Bake sales never raise more than $120
4. Inflation has not driven up the price of manga...yet
5. When one of your friends comes up to you and starts reciting lines from Office Space with you, you have good friends
6. I should not nationalize my central industries to rapidly industrialize because of the risk of stagflation
7. I have just lost the game

*cough*

in other news, I am in no danger from the fires, but good gawd the smoke is everywhere.  The sun is permanently orangey-red.  Irritates t3h eyes and throat.

900,000+ evacuated. sheesh.  Where do you put that many people?

NejinOniwa

Fires? Hoo. Righty, those started blossing up when I left, didn't they...?

And to answer your question? 900 000+ people is roughly the amount of people living in all of Stockholm. THAT'S where you put them. Build an american Stockholm clone somewhere and put them there. Now THAT'S cool stuff.

-w-

And yes, I know that it's a bit strange with a capital that small, but hell, all of our nation is just above 9 million - understandable, being that very few can withstand the annual Winter Depression - how would you feel, for example, if all the sunlight you got during a whole day was barely above 3 hours? Bundle that together with the weather being very gloomy during the autumn, the days starting to get short REALLY fast past november, and most of all, the cold, and you have a very effective way of gloomifying the whole nation really fast - so there are vast amounts of land left uncultivated, even untouched. Some parts even more wilderness-like than the central parts of the US. It is a fascinating thing, when you think of it.

What? Did someone light california on fire again?

I think sleepy d should leave there, and then we let LA burn.  God forsaken city that one -_-

haha... I'll pass that on to FEMA.

I don't live that far north, but that does sound depressing.... then again, if I was there for a short trip, I'd be fascinated.  strange, isn't it? XD

16 fires.  Never seen this many.  Caused by, among other things, construction worker welding something, downed power lines, and of course, arson.

LA isn't really in danger, not as much as San Diego.  And those people with Malibu homes have enough money.
But San Diego has Comic-Con!

...and I'm not sure if you care much about the two fires currently burning through Camp Pendleton. haha....

CaptBrenden

Ah well, those arnt a problem.  if anywhere is ready for fires its camp pendleton.  We have huge 30 foot fire breaks constantly maintained across the base sectioning it off and containing any fires.  And we get alot.  Hot brass and tracers cause fires like you wouldnt belive.. Still we are far more prepared then anywhere else.  Hell we do controled burns like that every year to keep the brush down and prevent larger fires.  at any given time at least one portion of camp pendleton is black with ash from an intentional or unintentional burn.  Not much worry there.

However, if they are busy with fires ON base, they wont be able to assist with fires OFF base.

Ah, I see. That's quite understandable.
And would probably explain why the fires are relatively small on Pendleton. They have evacuated the base of all non-essential personnel, tho.

The big fires are near Miramar Air Station, and I know that the news has been mentioning that choppers and ground crews from there are helping out.

Random:
The name they gave one of the fires on Pendleton, formerly known as the Las Pulgas Fire, is the "Ammo Fire"
....makes it sound like its burning near something dangerous. hah.

CaptBrenden

._.

thats cus it is.  near Las Pulgas (vally of the fleas i hear it means) are the large underground ammo storage vaults.

be afraid, be very afraid.
