Thanks! I took some inspiration from your (Aurora's) design for DSL-tan, but tried to give her my own twist. Right now it's rainy out so I'm mostly drawing and stuff...I might do a scene with an OS X-tan and a BSD-devillette  or a NeXTSTEP-tan...as a reference to OS X's Unix heritage...

Kami-Tux

Great idea! Maybe MacOS9-tan and Devilette  (or NeXTSTEP-tan) lift her so she can reach an item representing fame :)

You're probably going to tire of me saying this, but not only is your style sleek and refreshing, but your decision to support new and underrepresented OS-tans is absolutely admirable!  ^___^

I don't know about everyone else, but I'll definitely always be supportive of such efforts since it brings us closer to creating an entirely new OS-tan sub-movement.  I can only support canon OS-tans for so long, before I feel inclined to do justice to my own creative ideas, as well as those of others in a  similar position.  ^^

Your gentoo is very gorgeous and professional; while I also like Juzo-kun's design, it really just depicts her in her battle suit (much like 95-tan;s gray body armor), which I can't see her wearing ALL the time.  At least now I have an idea of how she would look like in her normal daily life and profession, and certainly goes a long way in portraying the Gentoo distro as a very mature, stable and well-documented  platform.  ^___^

DSL-chan is drawn with a kind of sweet sass that's very appealing, and the cap-turned-beret does help accentuate her features even more . ^__^
You haven't played on her diminutive size factor yet, but it's certainly an excellent piece of work as it stands now.  ^.^

And even though I haven't been a fan of IE for several years now, I love your rendition of her, especially your decision to incorporate features of other previous IE-tans.
As long as she's proprietary, though, she'll never have a chance of  surpassing the skills of Firefox-senpai.  But maybe she's in a better position to convince M$ otherwise.  ^___^

Oh right, the girl with the blue hair and braids is PTS-DOS-tan, a Russian x86 DOS clone that's often used in rescue systems in lieu of DR-DOS or FreeDOS.  A clearer picture of her can be found in my Finished Work folder:

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/thumbnails.php?album=82

And some descriptions of her personality -- as well as a picture of Miss Russia 2006 who inspired the hair -- can be found in my original thread that I posted it on:

http://ostan-collections.net/topic-217.html

BTW, I do second a picture with OSX, OS9 and/or NeXTSTEP-tan.  ^___^
Question is,... which OSX will you choose?  ^.^

Oh, and speak of the devil,... seems there's finally another Cheetah-san picture drawn....

Though frankly, it's not my favorite rendition by that particular artist.  ^^'

Arch Linux-tan and her sister, CRUX-tan:

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s320/BellasOS-tans/AG.jpg

Arch Linux-tan is CRUX's younger sister. Not to many people know them well, many thinking they're just a couple of nerdy brainiacs, but the ones who do know they are excellent workers. CRUX-tan is prettier, which her plain little sis has never really been that jealous about. After all, she is smarter. They get along quite well. CRUX-tan's color comes from the blue and white Tux that is CRUX's logo; Arch Linux-tan's color comes from the blue and black Arch Linux logo.

C-Chan

Same comments for Gentoo apply to Arch Linux-tan, since the design is close enough to the one by Juzo-kun to serve as an everyday picture of her.  ^__^

Crux, though, is definitely new and unexplored territory, and yourrendition is great!  And admittedly,....... [whispering] maybe she is the prettier one.... ^.^'

Funny how in one of my first Linux threads, it was mentioned that a CRUX-tan could be made eventually.  Funny how it took 8 months for this to happen, but at least it did happen finally!  ^v^

Thanks! I love doing more uncommon OS-tans because there's more artistic freedom...Linux-tans are especially fun because there are lots of interesting, unique distros...

I've been working on this since yesterday...did the outlines in a few hours, and several hours for the coloring...please to enjoy...
OS X Cheetah!

BSD Devillette and NeXTSTEP-tan are lifting OS X Cheetah-tan on their backs...symbolizing how Unix and NeXTSTEP lifted Mac OS X to fame and recognition, even if few people (outside the world of computers) know it; And with little recognition to themselves. I did Cheetah-tan sort of in a cutesy goth look...just seems to fit her ;) Thanks to Kami-Tux, who gave me the idea for this pose; and Aurora, as I took inspiration from her great rendition of NeXTSTEP-tan (who should be a better known OS-tan).

Great pictures like always! Hmm.. I didn't know that CRUX-tan and Arch-tan are sisters! And it's nice that although they have major differences like CRUX-tan being the prettier one and Arch-tan being the smarter one, they still get along well! ^^

And you did a very cute take on Cheetah-tan! And thank you for drawing NeXTSTEP-tan too! May she not fade into obscurity like her OS kinda... did! Such a powerful OS that had so much potential for excellence but alas ended up failing but if it weren't for NeXTSTEP (and NeXT) doing so poorly, Apple probably wouldn't be around today because buying out NeXT led to the major comeback that saved Apple!

Can't agree with you more.  ^__^
Especially with so much obsession around here regarding that Deja Vu incident, it almost makes sense to focus on completely new characters.  ^v^

Hyaaaah!!  Cheetah-san!  is sweeeeeeeeeeet!  ^v^

And you're right, the gothic dress suits her like a glove!  ^.^
BSD-tan and NeXTSTEP-tan also look gorgeous (and kudos on using Aurora's highlights), but I would love to see a little bit more of their body drawn.  Aside from the extra eye candy, it will also make it a bit more obvious that they're holding Cheetah-san up cheerleader-style.  ^v^'

Thank you! I got the inspiration for this because while researching Arch Linux, I read it was largely inspired by CRUX, and in fact, the creator of Arch quite liked CRUX and used it before creating Arch. So I figured the two tans should be nice to each other.

I know! I was pretty surprised reading the wikipedia page about NeXTSTEP...Steve Jobs...not at Apple? How could that be ;) And what Bill Gates said about NeXTcube...sorta creepy...LOL. I'm dissapointed we don't see more NeXTSTEP-tans for this very influential, even if defunct, OS.

The hardest thing was making Cheetah-tan's outfit look sexy and cute without being...er...trashy ;)
I was thinking about adding more body to BSD Devilette and NeXTSTEP-tan, but I ran out of paper space, and was a little lazy ;)

QuoteSteve Jobs...not at Apple? How could that be

Yeah, I always knew Steve Jobs was in charge of NeXT, but for some reason I thought he was still at Apple. Bit weird when I found out ^^'

QuoteAnd what Bill Gates said about NeXTcube...sorta creepy

Tell me something Bill Gates has said that not creepy or utterly-laughable (eg. "640k ought to be enough for anyone!")

Speaking of the NeXT cube, did you know the first webserver was a NeXT cube?

QuoteThe hardest thing was making Cheetah-tan's outfit look sexy and cute without being...er...trashy

I know what you mean, but I think you did a good job!
Keep up the good work!

Ummm...errrr....wait...you got me there ;)

QuoteSpeaking of the NeXT cube, did you know the first webserver was a NeXT cube?

Yeah! Another thing that surprised me!

Right now I'm working on coloring a picture of OS X Jaguar-tan...and one of Tiger-tan, too...but this one will be in more of a home setting, painting actually (notice there are lots of windows-tans depicted in home settings, cooking, cleaning, etc, but not to many Mac-tans?)

C-Chan

Ummmmmmmmm,...............
Actually.......................

There ARE lots of pictures of the Mac-tans in home settings..........  ^^;

It's just that..............

...............

'Bout 90% of them are not exactly PG-rated.  -v-'
Case in point:

http://www.verytragicalmirth.com/Images/MacManga/08.jpg

I believe this is around that time I use an "FTW!" to describe Jaguar and Tiger-sama.  ^___^

But /C-chan's heart still yearns for Puma-chan.  ^v^

Bella

I stand corrected. But what I meant was more along the lines of these pix:

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=18&pos=36

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=18&pos=114

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=18&pos=175

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=4&pos=73

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=63&pos=4

More of like...a glimpse into the "daily life" of these characters (if that makes sense...lol...), whereas most of the Mac OS X pix are them "posing":

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=66

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=72

Not that they aren't nice pix (I especially like the top one!), it's just that you don't see many Mac OS X-tans doing anything besides posing...

Anyhow,

Here's a Tiger-tan I did...painting on the beach:

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s320/BellasOS-tans/CopyofCopyoftp.jpg

Don't ask why she's painting on the beach...first it started off painting by a open window, then painting by a door, the next thing I know she's on the beach, lol...and that background is from a Mac OS X screensaver...

C-Chan

*sniff sniff*  Sadly, with these server problems, I'll have to use my imagination on those.....  ;___;
I think I know what you mean, but again we go back to saying this is a volume issue.  With 1000 artists committed to plopping Homeko and Homeo in less-than-legal situations, leaving only 5 artists to pick up the slack for the OSX girls, the ability to depict them in home settings is sacrificed in favor of just setting their precedent to an unknowing and unwilling public.  ^____^;

In any case, that effort is very much appreciated, as it is always nice to see the girls in different clothing and situations.  ^.^

And Tiger-sama's picture is gorgeous and awe-inspiring -- you never cease to amaze me with your excellent taste in fashion, and the background is both beautiful and a tacit Mac reference!  (double pointage for that)  ^v^

Now I know I can expect wonderful things with Pu-chan from you.  ^.^
