Also, last night was basically our introduction; as the 3 of us, after the business stuff was put aside, were discussing nerdy things -w-

So, apparently a bunch of people in my department called in sick, so they were trying to get me to come in. Thankfully, that manager gave me the day off, and the store manager himself told me on the phone that "if you're scheduled off and already have plans, I wouldn't worry about it".

Now, I'm about to pack up and go to grandma's office to finish setting up 2k.

work this evening. nervous, but after visiting with Steve over the weekend i feel better about things. i'm hoping that thinking of him will burn away the nervous film covering me atm. also we can't get the ring around the collar stains out of my longsleeve shirt and it's getting a little frustrating (thankfully, they're inside the collar, not near the top, so as far as i'm concerned if we can't get it out and it's clean, i don't really care).

work today was AWESOME. we had like, no customers (i helped a pair of people while there were), and i spent basically the entire time helping Lacy (sooper-nice girl i've known for years through the store and is basically the reason i'm working there) move the halloween section as forward as we could. Damien was visiting from the Nashua store (King Bitch of Joann's, former Methuen (my store) manager), was super-nice, helpful, informative, and ordered pizza for everyone (i was too late to get a slice cause i was focused >>; ), i got to meet the other new hires (all wonderful people ^^ ), and even got a break today (idk if i was supposed to, but i took it and it was awesome -w- ).

i feel so fucking pumped right now. this dispels all my fears about this. i can actually do this, lol. ^^

mmm. i'd like to work nightshift again, but i think i was hired because of my willingness to work mornings. my next 4 shifts are all morning shifts, which isn't bad, but i am going to mention to them again that i am available literally anytime during the days i'm free. :\

So far, today's been very up and down. As soon as I got out on the floor, I'm hit in the face with having to help these old ladies that kept arguing with me about every single goddamn thing (Yes, we are out of stock. No, we don't have more in the back, and no, I cannot sell you the nonfunctional display model that's just a chunk of plastic to show you what the phone looks like). Then, a bottle of Coke a customer had just bought fell over and exploded; splashing my face and spraying seemingly everything in a 3-foot range in front of it. Now, I'm on lunch...and once more find myself next to loud and obnoxious kids (One of them is just shreaking in an almost inhuman way. Also, no parents in sight) >__<;
(Plus, a random guy in line in front of me in line badgering me with thousands of questions. I mean, why do people do that? What does it matter to them that this guy they've never seen before in their life is going to college or not?)

Also, when looking at the calender, I found myself feeling depressed as it hit me that Black Friday is next month and I still haven't heard back from the hospital. I honestly wonder if I even will at this point ;_;

EDIT: Got back from lunch...and was bombarded with phone after phone after phone, with no end in sight and increasing complexity of the issues. They also wanted me to stay late to help in toys for some reason (I swear, that new manager over my department must have a fetish for displacing me; as he tried to get me to go outside and push carts one night when the only other person in my department was about to go home), but I used the excuse of having plans when I got off work (Partially true; it's mostly that tonight fucking sucked and I wanted to go home ASAP).
