This is gonna make me sound like the biggest shitlord ever but i'm an avid reader of /r/tumblrinaction. Granted I don't agree with all (or even most) of the views presented there but there are more than enough nuggets of SJW hilarity to make it worth sticking around. To say nothing of the mockery of hardline anti-SJWs, tumblr fascists and nazis (I don't mean nazi-as-in-a-general-extremist, I mean literal Third-Reich-loving-sociopath-Nazis), racists, red pill MRAs, and other sundry internet wackos. Because of this, I've managed to keep myself fairly apprised of the recent shitstorm that's gone down on both Tumblr and 4chan.

A few weeks back, SOMEBODY opened a tumblr and started posting about a July 4th raid on 4chan, retaliation for 4chan being a big ol' hive of creepy fedora'd neckbeards. This was bait meant to rile Tumblr SJWs into "attacking" 4chan. We suspect it was either /pol/ or /b/, but the jury is still out on this one. Anyway, the troll was successful and when the time rolled around, SJWs flooded into /b/ posting about ... whatever it is SJWs talk about, and /b/ naturally found this hilarious. In retaliation, /b/ users started spamming various SJW AND popular fandom tags with all matter of /b/ nastiness, including gore, extreme pornography and the like. This cause Tumblr to go into a (not-unjustified) uproar, and many tumblr users are now threatening to "hack" 4chan, report them to the FBI, shut down their site, etc.

Except if 4chan could actually be defeated by such hostilities as hacking or FBI seizure, it would have happened a very long time ago when /b/ raided Fox News- back when the internet was young and nobody knew what 4chan even was.

I'm enjoying my pocorn hearing the war stories of this. Whoever did this managed to pit a band of trolls against a band of zealots, and the resulting conflict ranges from downright hilarious to I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

it's fun to just sit and watch what happens but apparently a tumblr person went nuts and killed themselves over what some 4chan trolols did/said to them so there's that

i heard differently the other day, but only about how this got started. appearantly some tumblr'ers started posting on 4chan about "how much words can hurt" after a random 4channer bullied a tumblr'er so much they killed themself. this was all hearsay and may be a pormeanteau of both bella and cockle's reports, but i don't follow tumblr OR 4chan enough to be apprised on either.

in unrelated news: i'm going off-grid for a week, dunno when i'll get internet again (WCS is saturday). will see you all soon, and there are two new posts over at the blog if anyone wants to read them. if shit hits the fan (one of us dies or something), pent and bells (and stew? and possibly nej? and maybe cockle) have my cell number, which is the only way i'm reachable. don't abuse my minutes, though, so emergencies only~
