@pent: *hands you tea* there, there :[

so i just gave an impassioned speech to my mother about how much i hate my familly
like, i just exploded. she had mentioned an incident that happened about 10 years ago where the family was commenting on my diet and how unhealthy it was, to the point where we ended up taking me to a dietician just to get them to shut up. the dietician ended up saying that my diet was perfectly fine, anyway. and that's not the only thing that some family members have "commented" on regarding me. it'd be less abrasive if they did it to EVERYONE, but for some reason they single me out.
the next time ANYONE makes a comment about me, my life, or what i do, i am going to unleash a lashing the likes of which not even a BAPTIST PREACHER has ever fucking seen. i didn't ASK to be part of this family, after all.

If anyone makes snide remarks about what you do, or how you live your life, kick their butts.
Or not. (;^^)

i'm about ready to, i've put up with 21 years of shit, just been bottling it up while i bite my tongue. i think this may end in someone getting physically hurt.

I know the feeling. You don't know how many people I've wanted to choke-slam for basically trying to live my life for me; trying to tell me what they feel I should be doing with my life. It's not as bad now, since I'm at Pizza Hut, but back when I was at the hospital, several people (Not just employees, but contract workers and even occasionally people who were just visiting patients) would outright demand I go to college right now.

Also, mom. She doesn't badger me about college, but she still tries to control my life and ignores any complaints I have; most often giving me the "that's just life" treatment (Which really comes off as insincere, and makes it feel like she's invalidating my feelings on the matter), or in the case of last summer when I protested the BackSlayer 10kTM "bed" she forced me to sleep on at that resort, the "stop fussing; you're too old for that" treatment (She still claims "it wasn't that bad", even when I constantly tell her that "bed" gave me neck problems, back problems, and heartburn).

Meh. I'll be away from her soon enough :\

What is New Hampshire: 31.  Is I believe what he's saying.

Pent: I wouldn't say it has to be college dude, but if you ever want to get any better sort of job you need to get vocational training.

Agreed, even if you don't want to/can't go to a four-year college, going to a tech school or community college would be a good idea...

Chocofreak13

getting certified as an IT is also a good first step. :3

True

@Stew: I get what you're saying, but when you have snobbish surgeons telling you that your life is meaningless unless you have a master's degree in [random useless subject], it kind of sours one on the idea of going to college or anything similar :\
Thankfully, I don't deal with them, so college is more of a "eh, maybe" these days

Chocofreak13

there are a lot of community colleges around here, so once you move if you want to do something else, we can get you hooked up for that. even if it's just a class or two here and there. :3

Why do people suddenly need a college degree to do this job or that job?
Whatever happened to degrees on the job at hand, wether it be ICT, DIY, etc?
