They're fairly expensive these days yeah, but it's worth having an eye out for any "junk" systems with a faulty display, as IPS kitting is kinda a must for anysort of modern comfort. I've had a first model, monochrome display WS for over 10 years now and been telling myself I didn't need a WSColor, until now (then again, drop-in IPS kits weren't a thing 10 years ago). I guess I could've gotten one for bit cheaper back then, but oh well. The one I found was supposed to been "faulty screen" so I got it for an ok price. Turns out the screen was just fine, so dunno what the seller had thought. Came even with Final Fantasy I, even though it's all in Japanese.

Flashcarts are really expensive yeah, and also currently there's only 1 guy who makes them, so they can kinda dictate the price and quality (their current model still uses 3D printed shells, which is far from ideal). There is supposedly a new flashcart in the works, but who knows how long that will take to become a final product.
Current flashcart has also quite high battery drain so a IPS kitted WSC with a Flashcart might end up with rather poor battery life, like 1-2 hours with standard Alkaline battery. People say they can get more with 1.5V Lithiums. IPS kitted with genuine cartridge gets you somewhere between 2-3 hours. Which is like, just okay for modern standards, also to consider the thing runs on a single AA cell, which is impressive.

I decided to instead get some fairly cheap bootleg cartridges which have already English translation hacks on them. Also noticed there are new-made headphone jack adapters for it, so had to grab that too.
IPS backlight is at about half brightness in this pic, which is more than enough for indoor use, and is better for the battery.
BTW, the game in photo is Dicing Knight, a genuine cartridge of that game goes for about $1500, so yeah... the Wonderswan world is wild.

I've never actually done OS-tan related RPs before but I do miss the old forum RPs we used to have, so I'm intrigued!

Kinda curious, I do love me some RPs!

What I do remember is that the primary setting was a bar and restaurant in neutral territory, with IRIX 5-kun (see my recent posts) as one of the waiters; my primary characters were the IRIXen, VMS-tan, 2K-tan, and also Linux Kernel-tan (specifically Juzo-kun's version). Other characters for which I have tuppers registered are:

man.. its been almost as long since I've been on a classic forum. Takes getting used to again haha. Anyhow, paid around 160K for it. Only downside is I live in The Corn™

Discord doesn't allow external hotlinking, so they show as blank to me; you have to reüpload them to an actual image host (I recommend ImgBB).

There's a guide for it, but adding more software after the fact is kinda a pain in the butt, and I never did figure out how to transfer files into the VM.

At least with Touko the trend was making her a psycho yandere.

IMHC, there are three separate IRIXen: 4D1-tan (as IRIX was originally known), the usual IRIX-tan, plus separate OS-kun for IRIX 5 and IRIX 6.

IRIX 5-kun (English name Isaac Clark, Japanese name Isaku Shoki [書記委策]): A larger gentleman who appears to be in his late 30s or early 40s with a bushy beard, always jovial and clad in aloha shirts, with whom his sister is generally embarrassed to be seen. I think he should have the same powers as his sister, but I don't see him wearing shades like hers, just regular eyeglasses.

IRIX 6-kun (English name Indigo Clark, Japanese name Mugen Shoki [書記無限], usually first-name mononymous in both languages): A high-school or perhaps early college-aged kid with short blue hair and shades in the same style as his sister's, who wears a silver body- or tracksuit with glowing indigo lines, and is of a similar disposition to his sister. Was wed to Linux-tan in an arranged marriage in the late 90s (when it was rumored that SGI was planning to replace IRIX with a custom Linux distribution; regardless, SGI was and is a massive contributor to Linux) and lives aboard her spaceship. Wears socks only when aboard, as he hates the sound of his footfalls echoing throughout the corridors. He and Linux-tan created the fighting game M.U.G.E.N as a sort of pocket universe, thus explaining the presence of OS-tan characters.

The Irixen (4D1-tan, IRIX-tan, IRIX 5-kun, and IRIX 6-kun) are probably benefactrices and -tors of the Vintage Federation since, in the real world, the Computer History Museum is in a building formerly occupied by SGI.

I don't have much written down on our Discord server about the Decima, because a lot of the building for that was on another community's server which has long since imploded , but the Decima Project is a hivemind of various nodes that collectively represent Windows 10-tan, and they communicate externally in unison when necessary.

It is for sure a bit strange to not have any animators on board on this project, unless you already have it planned?

Are you even aware of how difficult and time consuming animating is? Animating traditionally that is. With modern AI slop I guess one can make animation "easier". Animating by a human is probably the most challenging part of an animation process.

Typically animations are done before voice acting, at least the rough animation concept. It's easier to have a VA act to an animation, than an animator animating to a voice clip. Unless in some rare instances where the VA did contribute to the animation simply from their video recorded performance while doing the voice lines.

If RaitoninqXaara even tests the waters of slop, I'm out. Fuck that shit.
