Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Aurora Borealis on February 03, 2008, 10:38:10 PM
A rather rushed introduction but.... Welcome to Mac Party (Redux)!

This series is inspired by the "Mac Manga" series and is a pseudo-sequel to it. Although unlike "Mac Manga", this series will be 100% worksafe!

Actually, I don't know how far this will go, aside from the current story I'm working on about Leopard-tan's debut to the Mac House.

HOLY CRAP!!  Do you realize that this could very well be the Anniversary Edition of Mac Party 1?  My gawd.... Feb '07 and we're in Feb '08 now.... where does the time go....?  ^^;

In any event, yeah the art there is pure, Early '07 original.  ^___^
The only exception I can see is that Aurora-hime added Puma-chan's "hello" (while she's up investigating the hole, presumably intending to *snicker snicker chortle chortle*  kick the ass of whatever vandals did it).  Oh, and Rhapsody-san has been "updated" with her latest skirt.  ^^

I don't think it's fair that Aurora-hime lays blame on just herself.  It's also true that I was looking into "retirement" some time after Mac Party #2 and the Desktop Wallpaper contest.  We were originally hoping to submit more than one Mac-themed wallpaper for the contest, including one that would've been a promotional for the Mac Party manga.  Sadly, due to this and that event, I lapsed into an artistic lull.  That in turn equated to barely enough time to finish the only wallpaper we submitted.  And after that, an interest in tying up all my other loose ends before my departure.

Fortunately I'm still here, and I say fortunately because a lot has kept my spirit up here since then.  That, of course, include Zerosanity Redux (and I hope you can keep working on that one, Aurora-hime).

I'm also very happy these old works get to see the light of day, and maybe continue on where we left off.  Thank you, Aurora-hime!  ^___^

As for ideas,... how about they get placed in the open this time?  Give the project a little FOSA-like edge, even though it still remains a semi-collaborative project.  ^v^

Last I recall, Page #3 was gonna have the old Mac-tans investigate the house for,... structural damage.  ^^
Then a little reprimanding of Pu-chan, followed by cameos of two very familiar Linux-tans.

@Everyone Else:  Sorry for the cryptic suggestions, but Page #2 isn't up yet so don't want to spoil anything.  ^^'

I really love the lighting in panel 1! At any rate, it's hilarious seeing Rhapsody-san in a drunken fit, and Puma-chan as a maid is adorable ^_^

I'm looking forward to seeing where this is going!

Hey, Puma-chan will be kickin' ass when I get around to that drawing of her with an automatic weapon XD

As for that retirement...every time you think your out, we pull you back in!

Well,.....

Uh.............

Aurora-hime might have something else in mind for the Redux storyline....
But like in the Mac Manga, the "skits" are in semi-sequential order.  So while there might be references to earlier pages, there's not much in the way of direct continuity.  You'll see.  ^___^

Personally I think that format would work since the randomness makes it easier to showcase new characters and in all sorts of strange situations.

QuoteHey, Puma-chan will be kickin' ass when I get around to that drawing of her with an automatic weapon XD

Putting a new take on the phrase:  "Ph34r the Peerless Power of Pu!!".  ^.^

QuoteHmmm...a Mac Manga inspired wallpaper...I dunno if I'm...interested...or scared...

Maybe scared,...
It was technically intended to be based on the original Mac Manga title page,....

...but expanded several fold to encompass a whole THRONG of character cameos, in a kind of late night carnival setting.  A true "part-ay" in the best sense of the word.  ^___^

QuoteAs for that retirement...every time you think your out, we pull you back in!

*evil cackle*

WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!  ^0^

QuoteOoooh, if you guys open source them I'll be glad to help out a bit

That's up to Aurora-hime, but I don't think the actual artwork will be opened up.  Just the brainstorming and suggestions for now.
Previously our brainstorming sessions where held privately.

/r/ Puma-tan with automatic weapon! :D

---

PAGE 2!!

Another crazy misadventure on the roof! This time, involving Antares-tan/System 6-tan going up to fix the roof (because of the incident on the last page) but while there, she encounters Foobies-tan, the most notorious pervert and intruder and does what it takes to stop her! (However the plan falls flat when Antares-tan gets distracted. Oh only if she were running Multifinder...) Cameo appearances include Puma-tan, Tiger-tan, OSX-kun, Sonata, Mac System 4-tan, silver iPod Mini-tan and pink iPod mini-tan.

notes:

1.Foobies-tan is the main antagonist of the series.

2. On page 3 it is revealed that Puma-tan did the most damage with her screaming!

3. System 4-tan is oblivious to Foobies-tan's perverted antics. Also she would rather not interfere with things as she finds all the craziness amusing and well... she also hides an inferiority complex and doesn't think there's anything she can do anyways. At least she makes the best of that!

4. As well as being very strong, Antares-tan is also really really fast and does not crash easily (System 6.0.x is considered by most to be the fastest and one of the most stable classic Mac OSes) but her weakness is that she is also rather scatterbrained which explains why she didn't do the really easy thing and chase down Foobies-tan! (and compared to the later Mac OSes, 6.0.x had some less-than-convienient features such as that fonts and Desk Accessories cannot just be dragged and dropped where they need to- a program is needed to do that! And that she didn't have Multifinder on- if she did, she could have been able to multitask, fire her bazooka while rambling on about stuff!)

5. Yeah, that monologue on panel 6 is hard to read. But what matters most is if you can make out the phrases "BIG DEAL" and "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...."!

6. Sure, iPods are OSX-only but why not have the iPod-tans interact with all the Mac-tans, assisting them in their tasks? :D

Very funny! I better go panel-by-panel:

Panel 1 and 2: Oh no! Foobies-tan! The "NSFW" block and seeing the bombs flying past her made me LOL XD
3: Antares-tan (and an iPod-tan)! Somehow I'm tempted to do a gun-wielding Mac-tan picture with Puma-chan, System 7.5-tan and Antares-tan...
4: OMG! LOL! For one thing, the look on Foobies-tan's face is priceless. The Mac-style screen is quite funny too, I noticed the "to do" list on the right side...!
5: Ooooh! A closeup of the terminatrix! I really like her eyes @__@
6: I can't see her speech, but I take she's being quite long-winded. Nice reference to her inability to multi-task :P
7: Aww, we get to see the iPod-tan a bit closer ^_^
8: Haha! I don't even wanna know what Foobies-tan is up to in the house. Of all the cameos, Tiger-sama's in hands-down the funniest! System 4-tan is looking cute, too :)

HECK YEAH! Please do draw that Mac-tans with guns picture! DO WANT!! :D

And if you really want to know what is being said on panel 6: "For generations, the Mac House has stood as a foundation of decency and honor, whose dwellers proudly defend the free market from the treacheries of those vile Windows-tans! You may think it's no BIG DEAL but such a lowly creature as yourself who spreads nothing but chaos and perversion couldn't possibly comprehend the magnitude of what we have built here with our blood, sweat and tears... err well okay so I only have fake blood, sweat and all that, but it's still awe-inspiring! BLAH BLAH BLAHBLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLA BLAH BLAH BLAH BLA-- ..."

YES!  Seeing Page 2 in all its finished glory is a sight for sore eyes!  @v@

Actually just posting to let everyone know I'm still alive (just unusually busy... ^^').  Will return tomorrow to post about a great many things (not the least of which includes a little extra commentary about the Making of Mac Party Page 2).  ^___^

Till then, great job on the finishes Aurora-hime!  ^v^

But... you forgot one little thing.... I'm sure you'll spot it soon.... ^.^

Aha! So Aurora-san has decided to re-open the Mac Party Manga ^___^ Awesome.

Hmm, C-chan drawing vistans, The return of Mac Party, perhaps Bella is right the end may be near.....Nah, we all know that OS/2 becoming open sourced is the true sign that armeggedon is near. XD

Comic 1
Panel 1: Ooooh, nice shading. And you did all this in photoshop not inkscape? I'm impressed. Also: "Don't mind us, we're just hanging around. *rimshot*.

Panels 2 - 6:
Hmm, is this the "Strange behavior" I've heard about. Or is she just drunk?..

Panel 8: Pu-chan, perhaps trying to defend the house against any possible vandals? Heheh, cute.

But she isn't Nessicarily powerless, if anyone knew this I surely thought it would be you C-chan. Tsk Tsk.

Well....I'm not too sure...I've never seen this for myself, but I hear she has some sort of automatic weapon.

Secondly She has the old Pu-Pu-PUMA-CHAN BEAM

Third she has her secret power of moe! (so moe you're gonna die)

Comic 2:

Panels 1 and 2: Ooh, Foobies-chan. This is actually the first time I've seen her.

Panel 3: @-@ Gyaah, Watch where you're pointing that thing Antares-chan.
Silver Ipod-chan is Unbelieveably Adorable. ^____^

Panel 4: Target aqquired! Hmmm, I see another Terminator reference here. ^_^

Panel 5: Hmm, I wonder....I don't think Antares-chan would let Effie into the mac house either...
The little Ipod-tan still is too adorable for words, mimicing Antares-chan.

Panel 6: Errm..What Foobies-chan said sums up my thoughts right now.
.....Wait, did she take the tag off her uniform and walk in?
...............................................................*knocks on mac house door*
Can I come in? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeee?

Panel 7: Aww, Antares-tan really needs to Get it together.
I also notice the mac error message face on those little fireballs.
(I wonder if Xbox 360-tan has nightmares about the RROD)
Is silver Ipod-chan's hair mimicing Me-tan's or Sonata's.

Panel 8: ..And this is the result of Foobies-chan entering the mac house..XD  Oooh, it's a Pink Ipod-tan. Cute. ^-^ I think that's system 4-tan holding her.

Poor Mac Roof He/She's having a bad day..

All of that was done in Photoshop, about a month before I started using Inkscape!

Quote
Panels 2 - 6:
Hmm, is this the "Strange behavior" I've heard about. Or is she just drunk?..
Rhapsody-tan was having some strange behavior although the possibility of drunkness is not completely ruled out- there may be something a little weird in that apple cider!

Quote
Panel 8: Pu-chan, perhaps trying to defend the house against any possible vandals? Heheh, cute.

But she isn't Nessicarily powerless, if anyone knew this I surely thought it would be you C-chan. Tsk Tsk.

Third she has her secret power of moe! (so moe you're gonna die)
Now that you mentioned the Puma-chan beam, maybe Pu-chan has a lot of potential to fight against Foobies-tan when the need arises! However Pu-chan would also be a likely target to Foobies-tan's antics because Pu-chan has a strong resemblance to Mikuru and Foobies-tan is partly based off of Haruhi... DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!

Quote
Comic 2:

As I said earlier: HECK YEAH!! DO WANT!! :D

Quote
Panel 3: @-@ Gyaah, Watch where you're pointing that thing Antares-chan.
Silver Ipod-chan is Unbelieveably Adorable. ^____^
Don't worry. As long as you aren't malicious or dangerously perverted, she will not fire at you!

....

*eyes Techno suspisciously* Say, you aren't malicious or dangerously perverted, are you? ¬__¬

Quote
4: OMG! LOL! For one thing, the look on Foobies-tan's face is priceless. The Mac-style screen is quite funny too, I noticed the "to do" list on the right side...!
I especially like this panel. Foobies-tan looks so cute (whoever would dare attack that cannot possibly be human!) and the Mac-style screen is accurate too!

Quote
Panel 4: Target aqquired! Hmmm, I see another Terminator reference here. ^_^
Indeed! Although at some point, I hope to draw a full-fledged "Terminator" parody! But alas, I am devoid of inspiration :(

Quote5: Ooooh! A closeup of the terminatrix! I really like her eyes @__@
Terminatrix... *starts cracking up*

She not really the dominatrix type although she does know how to put perverts in their place when successful! (Think back to p. 26 + 27 of ZS)

But Cheetah-tan is a true dominatrix! ;006

Quote
Panel 5: Hmm, I wonder....I don't think Antares-chan would let Effie into the mac house either...
The little Ipod-tan still is too adorable for words, mimicing Antares-chan.
Yeah, probably not. I think. How perverted is Effie again?

Quote
6: I can't see her speech, but I take she's being quite long-winded. Nice reference to her inability to multi-task :P
Posted the speech in my last reply. You're half-right about Antares-tan's inability to multitask. To her, multitasking is optional.

Quote
Panel 6: Errm..What Foobies-chan said sums up my thoughts right now.
.....Wait, did she take the tag off her uniform and walk in?
...............................................................*knocks on mac house door*
Can I come in? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeee?
Yes she did!

Another thing I feel like pointing out: As you might know, Antares is one of 6.0.x's codenames but is also the name of a star. One of the biggest and brightest known stars in the whole sky! There is some slight irony in that...

Quote
Panel 7: Aww, Antares-tan really needs to Get it together.
I also notice the mac error message face on those little fireballs.
(I wonder if Xbox 360-tan has nightmares about the RROD)
Is silver Ipod-chan's hair mimicing Me-tan's or Sonata's.
Close, but more specifically, it's the Sad Mac that appears at startup if something goes wrong. It was used in systems 1.0 - 10.1

And it's a bad time to mention the RROD because my 360 RROD'd yesterday ;__;. Ran perfectly since I got it 6 months ago but then that happens.

Quote
8: Haha! I don't even wanna know what Foobies-tan is up to in the house. Of all the cameos, Tiger-sama's in hands-down the funniest! System 4-tan is looking cute, too :)
Some things are better off left to the imagination...

Quote
Panel 8: ..And this is the result of Foobies-chan entering the mac house..XD
Quoted for truth. ^^

QuoteOooh, it's a Pink Ipod-tan. Cute. ^-^ I think that's system 4-tan holding her.

Poor Mac Roof He/She's having a bad day..
Yup, that's System 4-tan!  Yes, poor Mac Roof having a bad day :(
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: C-Chan on February 10, 2008, 01:55:40 AM
Okay, here we go.... Lots of ground to cover here.... ^^

*cracks knuckles*

QuoteThis time, involving Antares-tan/System 6-tan going up to fix the roof (because of the incident on the last page)

Should note that her "fixing" basically means putting some bandades on the roof face.  ^v^

It was our intention to have the living Mac Face roof as something of a running gag throughout the series.

Quote1.Foobies-tan is the main antagonist of the series.

After all, with the entire Mac family assembled, the OSX-kuns have been practically neutered, so SOMEONE has to take the spot.  1v'

QuoteOn page 3 it is revealed that Puma-tan did the most damage with her screaming!

BTW Aurora-hime, do you still want our notes from Page 3, or are you going to start from scratch?

Quote5. Yeah, that monologue on panel 6 is hard to read. But what matters most is if you can make out the phrases "BIG DEAL" and "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...."!

Aa sou sou, Aurora-hime already posted the dialog.  ^^
But yeah, it's intentional that you not be able to read all her rambling.  So the idea was to just type up any random crap that sounded halfway preachy.

Quote6. Sure, iPods are OSX-only but why not have the iPod-tans interact with all the Mac-tans, assisting them in their tasks?

Unfortunately, it did not occur to us to star the iPod-tans in Page 1.  My reasoning was that, as long as the entire Mac Family was there, why not also include the diminutive residents too?  After all, a lot of their recent resurgence is due to the work of the cute little iPod-tans, so it wouldn't be fair to just ignore them.  So the idea was to have random iPod-tans scattered throughout the rest of the manga, mainly as comic relief, cute micro-detail and a chance to represent more character designs.

QuotePanel 1 and 2: Oh no! Foobies-tan! The "NSFW" block and seeing the bombs flying past her made me LOL XD

Ah yeah, in the original the "NSFW" block was white wth black lettering.  Black is better since it's usually black boxes that are used for censorship.  ^^

Quote3: Antares-tan (and an iPod-tan)! Somehow I'm tempted to do a gun-wielding Mac-tan picture with Puma-chan, System 7.5-tan and Antares-tan...

I third that request.  ^.^
Just don't forget to focus!  `v'

*redirects her to UserSpace Gang pic*

Incidentally, the rocket launcher that Antares-tan is using is a portable Starstreak launcher, a British weapon.  Even at the time, it was my hope to give all Mac-tans characteristically-European weapons (if they wielded them, of course).

Quote4: OMG! LOL! For one thing, the look on Foobies-tan's face is priceless. The Mac-style screen is quite funny too, I noticed the "to do" list on the right side...!

Fufu... only avid Zerosanity Alpha readers will get the Farah Fonnor references.  ^.^
I don't remember if Foobie-chan's closeup was in Aurora-hime's storyboards (hey, you should post those up!), but that panel was very cute to design.

Incidentally, one other bit of trivia about the Terminator Finder screen....
That random gibberish on the left side is taken from one of the actual Terminator screens from the original movie, which surprisingly was taken from an Apple II BASIC screen!!  So yep,... the Apple tradition lives on everywhere.  ^____^

Quote5: Ooooh! A closeup of the terminatrix! I really like her eyes @__@

I do agree with Techno-san that Silver-chan's mimicking is almost distractingly-cute.  ^^

Quote7: Aww, we get to see the iPod-tan a bit closer

Actually I think page 5's the clearest.  ^^'

Quote8: Haha! I don't even wanna know what Foobies-tan is up to in the house. Of all the cameos, Tiger-sama's in hands-down the funniest! System 4-tan is looking cute, too

As you can see, one of the OSX-kun's is enjoying the resurgence of perversity in the Mac House.  To them, Foobies-chan is like the fearless rebel leader coming to free her captured men.

And of course, you've seen the close-up of Pink-chan before, no?  ^.^

QuoteHey Hey! I remember these! Nice to see them released!

See Aurora-hime?  So far I haven't seen anyone trying to bite you.  `v'
I'm glad that now at least you have a lot more confidence than you did back then -- these are your masterpieces too, and shouldn't be kooked up.

QuoteHmm, C-chan drawing vistans,

Well technically I'd be drawing EeePC-tan, Cloudbook-tan, Classmate-tan and OLPC-tan (Siya's version, of course), with Chiivistan in the background.  Course, Chiivistan is probably like 50x bigger than they are, so it's only natural that her presence would be a bit imposing.  ^v^'

However, I might just have to scrap that idea if there's not time for it.  '___'

QuoteAlso: "Don't mind us, we're just hanging around. *rimshot*.

Haha!  Very funny.  ^___^

If you're wondering what those things are, they're the OSX-kuns being hung from the tree again for being naughty (happens a lot, you know).  This is taken directly from the Mac Manga -- little details like that were meant to bridge the two comics.

QuotePanel 8: Pu-chan, perhaps trying to defend the house against any possible vandals? Heheh, cute.

But she isn't Nessicarily powerless, if anyone knew this I surely thought it would be you C-chan. Tsk Tsk.

Well....I'm not too sure...I've never seen this for myself, but I hear she has some sort of automatic weapon.

Secondly She has the old Pu-Pu-PUMA-CHAN BEAM

Third she has her secret power of moe! (so moe you're gonna die)

Well you're right on all three accounts.... May the Peerless Power of the Pu be with you.  ^__^

But you're forgetting Weapon #4, which she employs in Page 2 Panel 8.  ^^

QuotePanel 3: @-@ Gyaah, Watch where you're pointing that thing Antares-chan.
Silver Ipod-chan is Unbelieveably Adorable. ^____^

Don't remember why Silver-chan was chosen,... probably because she wears grayscale clothing and looks tough.  The iPod-tans were intended to be paired with the girls most like them.  Naturally, Pu-chan would be like a giant soulmate for Gold iPod-chan.  ^___^

Quote.....Wait, did she take the tag off her uniform and walk in?
...............................................................*knocks on mac house door*
Can I come in? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeee?

Very hard to see in that resolution, but you - are - correct.  ^.^

QuoteI also notice the mac error message face on those little fireballs.

Aurora-hime's clarification notwithstanding, yes that's another little easter egg.

QuotePoor Mac Roof He/She's having a bad day..[/quote[

We never really gave it a gender, but I always thought of it as a "he".  '__'

QuoteAll of that was done in Photoshop, about a month before I started using Inkscape!

And this was about 3 months after I decided not to use it anymore, so it was quite strange drawing with it again.  ^v^'

QuoteRhapsody-tan was having some strange behavior although the possibility of drunkness is not completely ruled out- there may be something a little weird in that apple cider!

Suffice to say, this is not the kind of behavior Mama OSX wants to show her kids, hence why she's on the roof.

Fortunately for her, Pu-chan is VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY easy to silence.  You'd be amazed at all the strange and dirty secrets Pu-chan has amassed,.... if only she'd have at least an eighth of a backbone, she'd find sone way to get some massive blackmail scheme going.  `v'

QuoteHowever Pu-chan would also be a likely target to Foobies-tan's antics because Pu-chan has a strong resemblance to Mikuru and Foobies-tan is partly based off of Haruhi... DUN DUN DUNNNNNN!

Hence the really LOUD scream.  ^v^

Speaking of "DUN DUN DUNNNN", why don't you post the old storyboard?  ^^

QuoteBut Cheetah-tan is a true dominatrix!

Clearly in the Mac Manga, Sonata-sensei and Mac-tan (well okay, in that OSX-tan) can put the OSX-kuns in their place, but have some difficulty doing so since they're effectively outnumbered (count Toshiaki).

Now, not only has the tables turned towards the feminie side, but Cheetah-sama, Antares-san and Tempo-chan are there to serve as much needed reinforcements.  ^.^

Ironically,... the one who can beat them up the most (System 7-tan) is the most sympathetic with them.  For this reason, she usually escapes all manner of perverseties.

QuoteAnd it's a bad time to mention the RROD because my 360 RROD'd yesterday ;__;. Ran perfectly since I got it 6 months ago but then that happens.

Oh?  Thought you had a Wii only?  tsk tsk.... ^____^
Surely tis a message from the GAWDS!  ^0^

===============

And that about sums it up.  ^^

Aurora-hime is still forgetting that very important thing, but I'll give her time to see if she can remember what.  It's the kind of thing that's been in every single one of her comics since Zerosanity Alpha Page 1.  ^.^

In any event, seeing our first two collaborations finally displayed does make me feel very happy, and yet sad at the same time because they represents yet more promises I was never able to keep.  I've accumulated so many of those over the course of two years, it's any wonder I still have any sembance of pride left.  -v-'

The only consolation, aside from the recent Zerosanity Xmas Special, is this.... Our last work of the Classical OSC era that most of you are probably too new to remember:

http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/albums/userpics/10570/RunningMacs.png

And that's about all I can offer on my behalf, and I think it's best that I bow out and leave Aurora-hime to decide what to do wth Page 3 onward.  As she's shown with Zerosanity Redux, she knows how to craft a great story.  ^^

BLAH BLAH BLAHBLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLA BLAH BLAH BLAH BLA-- ..."

Bwahaah! A great achievement in Mac speech making history!

She not really the dominatrix type although she does know how to put perverts in their place when successful! (Think back to p. 26 + 27 of ZS)

But Cheetah-tan is a true dominatrix!

Ah, I was simply using the "-trix" female suffix, as in aviatrix. If I recall correctly, I think they even used that term in the third Terminator movie to refer to the crazy female terminator...

QuoteAfter all, with the entire Mac family assembled, the OSX-kuns have been practically neutered, so SOMEONE has to take the spot. 1v'

Neutered OS X-kuns? Well, they *are* Unix-like, after all.

*tehehehe!*

QuoteUnfortunately, it did not occur to us to star the iPod-tans in Page 1.

Oh yes, the iPod-tans. Without them, Apple may have met an M$-led demise like so many others -__-

QuoteI third that request. ^.^

Incidentally, the rocket launcher that Antares-tan is using is a portable Starstreak launcher, a British weapon. Even at the time, it was my hope to give all Mac-tans characteristically-European weapons (if they wielded them, of course).

Oh, that's a real weapon!? Neat...

In my gun-wielding Mac pic, I may have Puma-chan holding a Thomson sub-machine gun XD
Maybe System 7.5-tan with a pistol, and either Antares-tan...or...someone else...who's equally cool but under-reprisented.

QuoteSuffice to say, this is not the kind of behavior Mama OSX wants to show her kids, hence why she's on the roof.

Hmmmm....never thought of that. I wonder what deep, dark secrets Puma-chan knows about...

QuoteIn any event, seeing our first two collaborations finally displayed does make me feel very happy, and yet sad at the same time because they represents yet more promises I was never able to keep. I've accumulated so many of those over the course of two years, it's any wonder I still have any sembance of pride left. -v-'

Don't be sad that you've promises you couldn't keep, be happy that you were able to accomplish what you did.

Still haven't finished page 3 -__-. Mostly done with panels 1-5 and started panel 6. But I will show a preview!

unshaded preview of p.03 panel 5 of Mac Party Redux, shows some Mac-tans and many iPod-tans managing to get back to their lives after Foobies-tan appeared and wreaked perverted havoc!

And a couple more notes about this panel:

1. System 7-tan is petting a charred OSX-kun kitten, who got charred from being on the recieving end of some explosive fury if you know what I mean!

2. Also, System 7-tan has respect for the OSX-kuns, admires their wild and carefree spirit and also because they leave her alone from their pervy antics.

3. Antares-tan is feeding the iPod-tans, something on her to-do list. Just wanted to show that she has currently succeeded in some of the other things on the list too. Clean the roof, CHECK! Feed iPod-tans, CHECK!

4. Those are little sandwiches-on-a-stick that the iPod-tans are eating! :D

5. System 3-tan likes bright colors and psychedelic stuff! However I confess to being wrong: I thought that System 3 was the first Mac OS to have color support but I was very wrong- it shipped with the Mac Plus which was a black + white only Mac. (Although I read from one source that it shipped with the Mac II, the first color-supporting Mac. Wrong, that was actually System 4 and it was actually System 4.2/System Software 5 that introduced color support!) However System 3-tan will be keeping her personality traits even if based off of incorrect information to be a lot more interesting than otherwise...

6. I added in Panther-tan because that's the Mac OS I use! (and she's one of my favorite of the OSX-tans) :D

System 7-tan is looking nice here. I didn't know she wore glasses...is this a parallel to OS/2-tan (or 95-tan) being depicted with glasses sometimes?

At any rate, I feel sorry I haven't done a recent fanart of System 7-tan. Such an interesting character, from one of the darkest times in OS history....

*puts on to-do list*

Antares-tan feeding the iPod-tans mini sandwiches is so cute! It shows her gentle side, and the little iPods seem to love her, as well as System 4-tan ^_^

Even though the facts may have been mixed up, psychedelic System 3-tan is feisty and fun looking. Maybe system 3-tan's love of color in fact comes from a bit of envy for her color-supporting sisters, and could add some delicious irony to her backstory ;)

And I remember reading you use OS X Panther once. I think it's unfortunate she's all too under-drawn...it's nice she gets a cameo here, though.

And...is it just me...or is Sonata-san cosplaying as Mac-tan...?

She sure is an interesting character! But recently I decided to tweak her personality a little bit- still melancholy but instead of being an 'emo kid' (what was I thinking?!), she's a part-time blues singer! (thought it would be a cool way to be melancholy, as well as a reference to 'Blue', one of System 7's codenames)

Right! As tough as Antares-tan is, she is also very sweet and cares for her family a lot which is also why she is the defender of the Mac House! (although there is also the possibility she was just programmed that way but I would much rather believe she does that mostly of freewill)

I don't know, really. System 4-tan hides an envy towards her younger sisters for being able to multitask and such (System 4-tan represents Systems 4.0-4.1, and there is a big difference between 4.1 and 4.2. Speaking of which, drawing 4.2-tan is on my to-do list!)

Alright, sorry for the abnormally-long delay.  -v-

Quote1. System 7-tan is petting a charred OSX-kun kitten, who got charred from being on the recieving end of some explosive fury if you know what I mean!

I'd prefer to call that "collateral punishment"... for siding with Foobies during her invasion.  ^^;

Quote2. Also, System 7-tan has respect for the OSX-kuns, admires their wild and carefree spirit and also because they leave her alone from their pervy antics.

And their antics help break the ice in her heart.  ^.^

Within a few years, maybe she'll learn to smirk.  ^__^
A few more, and she'll learn to smile again.

A few more after that and she'll be back to normal,... obviously wiser.  -v-

Quote3. Antares-tan is feeding the iPod-tans, something on her to-do list. Just wanted to show that she has currently succeeded in some of the other things on the list too. Clean the roof, CHECK! Feed iPod-tans, CHECK!

That scene I think deserves a close-up.  You really do have nearly all of them in there.  ^.^

Quote5. System 3-tan likes bright colors and psychedelic stuff! Well, as the old saying goes:  "The dog that barks the most has the most to hide".  ^^;
So you can make the excuse that her fanatical embrace of all things colorful,.......... is compensating for something she'd rather not let you know about.  ^___^;

Whereas System 4-chan,... who does use color,... is more matter of fact about it.  ^^

Quote6. I added in Panther-tan because that's the Mac OS I use! (and she's one of my favorite of the OSX-tans)

Plus it's a great way to splash the old with the new.  That's what gave the Mac Party its greatest allure.  ^_______^

QuoteNah, just coincidental but still interesting that you pointed that out.

I do recall giving System 7-chan some sunglasses in my fanart of her as well, although that pic takes place several years into the future, so it's more understandable that she'd have them.  ^^'

So in other words, she'd be like a Western "Enka" singer.  ^____^
Yeah,... *stares into System 7-chan's melancholy soul* ......... sounds about right.  ^v^'

I am glad she has a little more pep in her personality now.  ^^

Puma-chan looks so cute in this picture! She has the perfect look on her face...what look, exactly, I dunno....but it fits her shy personality like a glove!

And angry Mac-tan and sympathetic Tempo-chan are perfect too!

Oh yeah, I always thought Emo kids were just wannabe Goths...just lacking the courage to die their hair dark purple and shave it into a Mohawk XD

But the blues singer aspect could work really well and add some coolness to her personality.

*must draw blues-singing System 7-tan*

*I think this just bumped ahead of Macs with Automatic Weapons picture*

Now that I get the reference to the Cogito virus, I feel tempted to throw in an "Ergo Proxy" reference at some point!

---

And now... PAGE 03!

[in process of revamp -__- as of 10/08/08]

*pant* Took a lot longer than I hoped. X__x  Panel 5 was by far the most time-consuming part! But I am nearly finished with the first 2 panels of page 04!

Anyways...System 5-tan apologizes to Antares-tan for not doing anything to stop Foobies-tan's antics, (although it is hard to tell if she really does mean it, known to be a prankster and all... But would she dare be insincere to one of those she has the strongest friendship with? Them pranksters are tricky) and then some supposedly comforting words get horribly misinterpreted! (with an explanation on the bottom of the page)

It is then shown that things are quickly back to normal after the incident involving Foobies-tan. But not so fast! Meanwhile in another room, Puma-tan has to clean up the broken glass- her screaming caused the most damage! But then a suitcase smashes though the window. However, that suitcase was NOT Suiseiseki's! (But the first guest appearance is hers though ~desu!)

As a bonus, here are closeups of the iPod-tans on the page! Tried to integrate the closeups into the page but didn't work well, not much bigger than the originals on the page which were tiny.

Hurrah for Suiseiseki!

The iPod-tans are adorable, as is the Newspeak conversation.

Panel 1: Oooh, Antares-tan, System 5-tan, and a cute little iPod-tan :)
2: LOL! Not only are Systems 1's incredibly cute, but the dialogue is great here!
3: This is also great! Seeing the 1's panicking and the looks on System 5 and 6-tan's is priceless!
4: What's that in the sky? A bird? A plane? No, it's just Antares-tan and System 5-tan (who's still toting that iPod-tan!). Everyone looks great here!

Panel 5: I've already commented on this one ;)
6: Seen this one before, but after reading what Mac-tan said, I can't shake the feeling she speaks with a great amount of class...which gets me to wondering what the different OS-tans talk like XD
7: Haha! Freaked-out Mac-tan and Puma-chan are great! I think Mac is just angry, while Puma-chan realizes she's gonna have to re-sweep the floor :P
8: I kinda sorta get the Rozen Maiden reference (because of the suitcase, right?) ...but, out of all the cute characters here, Puma-chan is the most adorable...that look on her face is just so... @__@

And you set it up for an interesting page 4!
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Aurora Borealis on March 11, 2008, 07:28:28 PM
Thank you! And you are correct about the "Rozen Maiden" reference, Suiseiseki gets introduced by crashing into Jun's window and then Shinku forces him to clean it up.

As for what different OS-tans (and related characters) talk like, not sure for all of them but here are the characters that I know of with distinctly different speech patterns:

Inu-T: ends sentences with ~wauf (in ZS and a couple other OS-tan comics ~wauf)

Linspire-tan: ends sentences and some words with -o (Although only in zerOSanity-o!)

Something Awful-tan: Describes everything as 'awful' in some way. Isn't that awful?

Fark-tan + TotalFark-tan: Often speak in the style of Fark headlines

Foobies-tan: ends sentences with her name and also sometimes shouts it in excitement... FOOBIES!!

BBSpot-tan: Adds an extra 'B' to words that Bbegin with a B. Such as "BBelievers", "BBloopers".

Mac System 1-tan: Speaks almost entirely in Newspeak. Newspeak doubleplusgood!

Mac System 2-tan (aka: Ahiru-chan): Also speaks in Newspeak and Duckspeak (which is pretty much quacking). QUACK QUACK QUACK!

Mac System 6.0.x-tan (aka: Antares-tan): Frequent usage of the phrase "big deal". That's a big deal!

Sonata: At least in Mac Manga, she speaks formally. Yes, that is so.

Lisa-tan: Not at all actually. Although I imagine she would have spoken like an aristocrat!

Tinfoil Hat-tan: Speaks in a perpetually crazy and freaked out way (although able to talk calmly without her hat, which is the source of her paranoia and hysteria). AAAH AAAAAH AAAAAAH! ARE-- ARE YOU TRYING TO TAKE MY HAT! THEY-- THEY ARE OUT TO GET ME!!

I also think that Puma-tan would mumble a lot, Panther-tan would also speak formally, Tiger-tan would almost always sound excited in some way, PCLOS-tan would have a Southern accent, Plan 9-tan would include a lot of shouting and maniacal laughter, and Plan B-tan would speak in sort of a deadpan voice.

---
But now I have a request: I've been trying to write up a very sappy Mac Party Redux special in response to support for Classic being completely dropped but to no avail. (ideas I tried turned out to be too hard) Anyone willing to help with ideas? ;__;

Hmmm...yes, I agree with most of those. Though I think PCLOS-tan would speak with a Texan accent, not a southern one :P

And Plan 9-tan likes to sound very formal and leaned, but usually she ends up just sounding nonsensical.

As for others I've thought of, I suppose XP-tan would be a bit ditsy (kinda like Orihime from Bleach)

VMS-sama I always thought would be quite the strong, silent type (with maybe just a *hint* of a Massachusetts accent, XD)

Multics-sama I suppose would be very aristocratic, as well, and loves to work Latin into conversations...

Unix-sama....hmmm...probably very to-the-point and no nonsense. And not very big on formalities, as it has been said that Unix never says "Please" :P

The Linuxes would be all over the place; I suppose they'd take on an accent from wherever the distro was created (like with PCLOS-tan), and I guess Linux-sama might have a slight Finnish accent. I guess the same could be said for the Unixes, too...

QuoteBut now I have a request: I've been trying to write up a very sappy Mac Party Redux special in response to support for Classic being completely dropped but to no avail. (ideas I tried turned out to be too hard) Anyone willing to help with ideas? ;__;

^ yes, the Classic Mac-tans would be the center of the sappyness. Most likely would involve the Classic Mac-tans thinking that now since Classic support has been dropped that they aren't needed anymore. 9.2-tan would be the most devestated by that (Mac OS 9.2 was made for the Classic Environment)

It's been a long time since asking, but I am still interested in the idea of a comic made in response to Classic support being dropped. It will be very sappy, with the Classic Mac-tans leaving the Mac House thinking that they are not needed anymore (especially Mac OS 9-tan who is the most devastated by this) but I'm completely stuck with how to do this.... Help please!

WAAAAAAH?  Classic support is being dropped?  @@

Well in fairness, it has been over 10 years.  Still, kind of a bummer.  -.-'

I wouldn't mind doing a little brainstorming, but....

...well....

...I've wondered as of late if maybe I'm getting boring.  Perhaps you'd want to hear from someone younger, dashing and more dynamic, or just plain newer.  -v-

Classic is completely unsupported in Leopard.

I need quite a bit of brainstorming, but I imagine that upon Leopard-tan's arrival to the Mac House, there is also the news that Classic support is dropped and Mac OS 9-tan is devastated by that, despite knowing it was just a matter of time before that would happen. Still, she is saddened and outraged at the same time and runs away. The other Classic Mac-tans soon follow (although some later than others). Most likely they decide to be wanderers, or go to the Binteeji Renmei for help!

The really tricky part is how they decide to get back home, if they all do!

*purrs while being petted by Puma-tan*

*siiiiiiiiigh* This is bliss.....  ^.^

Okay okay, I'll pitchin the brainstorming, but just a little bit.  -v-

Let's start with the basics: Why did all hell break loose once Leopard-tan arrived?

Is it because:

I guess we'll leave for later where they go or what they planned to do, but for now it's best to start from the beginning.  ^^
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Aurora Borealis on October 09, 2008, 05:09:37 PM
I haven't decided at first, and all three possibilities you gave are all so good! So hard to decide!

Scenario A: Leopard-tan meant well at least, and she'd probably be saddened greatly by unintentionally driving most of her older sisters away! Lots of sap!

Scenario B: Well, Leopard did have quite a few problems at release, and the biggest one is compatibility issues (which I know firsthand :( ). In this scenario, I believe that Leopard-tan was trying to be helpful but was very blunt with the way she said things, and was a know-it-all to try and impress her older sisters but backfired. Confused at first after the Classic Mac-tans leave, the other OSX-tans scold Leopard-tan and they would go searching for them so Leopard-tan can apologize to them... Good sap potential here too.

Scenario C: I guess Leopard-tan or the other OSX-tans accidentally didn't tell the Classic Mac-tans how to operate those machines? Awkwaaaaard, but still very good! (and a certain Mac-tan would be especially mad about being outclassed by some little newbie punk's machines! Bwahahaha!)

I'm favoring either scenario A or B at the moment.

Fufufu... wow, it's been a long time since we've done something like this.  I'm feeling nostalgic.  ^.^

Alright, I do see you have a better handle on scenarios A and B.  Now as for deciding between them.... why not merge the two?  ^^

With more influence to B, of course, but it's precisely cause she's a bit overconfident and a know-it-all that she happily proclaims to the other girls "HEY!! GUESS WHAT?!  YOU CAN FINALLY RETIRE NOW!!!! *tee hee*" without really projecting herself in their shoes.  And a lot of what she later does is also in the best of intentions; but in being overprotective and treating them like elderly people or invalids, she might come off as condescending at times.

Even a little bit of C can be added -- she builds a robot intended to relieve them of any work (so they can, you know... lounge around and do nothing), and it just ends them pissing them off little by little.

Perhaps the straw that broke the camel's could be if Sonata-sama woke up one morning and found the robot teaching her morning music class, and Leopard-chan behind her saying something innocent but still... rather stupid.  ^^;

Perhaps fishing for compliments, but instead ended up getting a nice wet SLAP and the sight of her older sister storming out of the house crying.  After that the exodus would follow, and slowly but surely the house would be emptied of its Classic inhabitants.

Except perhaps for System 7-tan, who in her own emo way might help Leopard-chan understand what she did (since I imagine the scolding from her older OSX sisters still doesn't really make her understand the enormity of her mistake).

What says you, Aurora-hime?  `v'

QuoteHahahaha!

Fufu!  No, with Leopard-chan, it has to be in the most inopportune and inconsiderate moment.  ^.^;

I imagine the girls set up some sort of homecoming breakfast or something (and naturally many of the Classic-tans woke up early to help cook/bake stuff).  Leopard-chan arrives, there's huge fanfare and laughter, they all set down to eat, they ask her questions about her trip and so on, she remember she has gifts for all of them and starts passing down a few small trinkets to her OSX sisters.

And perhaps with half an apple pancake in her mouth , she starts joyfully giving out the pink slips like one would do coupons for a spa.  ^________^;

There is of course a very awkward moment, but not wanting to spoil her homecoming Sonata-sama quickly changes the topic and finally gets some active [albeit uneasy] conversation going.

Leopard-chan might not actually stop to realize why everyone else has seemingly lost their appetite.

QuoteThat would be where Leopard-tan went overboard with the criticizing I imagine?

Of course.  ^.^

"YOU ONLY HAVE 512MB IN THAT THING?!!!  PIFFLES, I SAY!!!"
"YOU'RE SAYING YOU CAN'T MULTITASK?!!!  HOW ON EARTH ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!!!"
"NO NO NO!!!  YOU HAVE TO PUT THAT IPOD-CHAN ON AN AAC DIET!  AIFF IS WHAT YOU FEED DINOSAURS WITH!!!!"
"WHAT'S AN 'UNSMARTFUL GIRL'?!!"

Using all caps just for emphasis -- she wouldn't necessarily be rude, just as you say, a little blunt and a little tactless.  Like some geniuses are.  ^.^;

QuoteSo they don't like sitting around doing nothing? Good! They would be angry, feeling useless because of that robot that Leopard-tan built.

That's kinda why I would sway for them (or at least some of them) to stay at the BR for a while.  At least they know they still have family there -- and speaking with ][-chan might actually help them reflect a little.  No doubt at least one of them was probably the same way with ][-chan right before she voluntarily retired.

QuoteHAHAHAHA! Nice!

Well you said you wanted sap. ^^

Oh well... yeah, that's precisely why I figured she'd be perfect for the job.  You always have to be careful of the quiet ones, you know.  ^^

Besides, she lost her pride LOOOOONG ago in her mind, so there's really nothing left for Leopard-chan to break in her.

And besides that too she'd probably be comforting the OSX-kuns, who likely wouldn't have taken kindly to the departure of over half the girls.  XvX;

Maybe....Leopard-tan started building a particle collider in the basement and the Classic Macs didn't want to be there when the house became a ground-zero for a rip in the spacetime continuum or a supermassive black hole...?

About this Leopard-tan displacing the Classic Macs story, I have two ideas. I don't know if they're as good as the ones which have been posed, but this is just my take. How about we drag Leo-chan's ability to time-travel into it? Say she visited the future (in secret of course) and saw that the Classics would be happier if they moved away, even at the cost of their current comfort?

Or if you want to add more sap, say she sent the Classics off, only to visit the future, and see that it for the worse. Realizing her own mistake, Leopard-chan would then spend the rest of the story devoting herself to bringing the Classic Macs home, and winning back their love.

Both are good. I really like that second suggestion and will add it in!

Thinking of how they would be worse off after leaving is a little tough. Some of the Classic Mac-tans are still very capable and could get by as wanderers but I think they would hate being separated from the rest of the family (In the future scenario, they are not all together)

We have 1-chan and System 6-tan in the bottom of the page, 5-chan in the very back, and then, from left to right, we have Tempo-chan, 2-chan, System 7-tan (she's.... smiling?  Ovo ), System 4-chan (strong one, I see.... ^.^), and Sonata-sama.  ^___^

Sonata-sama's eye could be lowered a bit so that it's slightly above her nose -- other than that, these girls are dynamite!  Unparalleled cuteness, especially among the 8-2-7-4 group right there in the middle.  ^____^

*stares awe struck*

Okay it was fun all.  Good night!  ^.^

Looking good, and I certainly admire that you're able to start up a new Inkscape-made comic series! I can't decide on a favorite in this picture-- but Tempo, System 2, and System 4-chan are especially cute! And 7-san smiling is a bit unexpected O.O

Though wait...are the Mac-tans a bunch of Vegetarians or what? :P

They might or might not be vegetarians, but tofu bacon is being used instead of pork bacon for obvious reasons.

I'll post up the first half of the page (4 panels) once I finish the fourth panel. But I was contemplating skipping the shading entirely. It really adds on to the pages but is time-consuming and I wanted to keep this simpler than my other works. :-\

Could it be that my darling and fiancé, Auntie A/UX-tan, is also stopping by for a visit?  ^.^

It actually does the job without the shading, so I think you can proceed with that with confidence.  Especially in a humorous strip, you only really need shading in dramatic or sad scenes.  ^^

Hi love the comic.
I have some suggestions for Leopards arrival. Mainly in regards to the robot building....
Instead of building a robot she tried to "help" the classic Mac-tans but without realizing it makes them feel alienated causing them to leave because they feel unnecessary. After they leave Leopard-tan will be confused as to why they left until 7-tan explains it to her.

The if they decide to come back ou can have it as Leopard looking for them to apologize.

Leopard-tan's "help" is a large part of what makes the Classic Mac-tans feel alienated but the robot she built will be there to automate certain tasks which makes them feel useless which is another part of the problem.

But yes, Leopard-tan doesn't understand what she did horribly wrong until almost all the Classic Mac-tans left, except for System 7-tan who scolds her for it. While the older OSX-tans tried to scold Leopard-tan for what she's doing, it didn't have much impact on Leopard-tan until System 7-tan spoke up against her (which had the most impact because she is a Classic Mac-tan, the last one remaining and was not very much affected by Leopard-tan's new regime as System 7-tan felt like she had almost nothing to lose)

Ah yes, according to our original brainstorming, Leopard-chan herself is a little TOO generous in how she helps out around the house -- she's literally all over the place.  However, since the Classic Girls are still doing "stuff", Leopard-chan interprets this as not doing her job, so tries even harder to "help".  That includes building the robot, not only to ensure she can be in more places than once, but also to demonstrate who cool and smart the little brat thinks she is.  ^^;

[and by little brat, I still assume this is gonna be the Young-Type Leopard-chan]

QuoteBut yes, Leopard-tan doesn't understand what she did horribly wrong until almost all the Classic Mac-tans left, except for System 7-tan who scolds her for it.

Actually, would System 7-tan really scold her?  I thought she was still a bit on the emo side and wasn't capable of really doing that.

Besides, the one thing that all the Classic Girls have in common that 7-san doesn't is that they're all outspoken and hotblooded to an extent, whereas 7-san is unexpressive in a "cool" kind of way.

The Classic Girls are probably a lot more capable of scolding Leopard-chan before they leave.  But like a steel trussel, the more pressure you put on Leopard-chan, the more stubborn and defensive she becomes, which is why even her immediate OSX sisters scolding her wouldn't have an effect.

But 7-san gets through to her precisely because she doesn't confront her directly at all, but rather performs the old adage of "talking softly" and "carrying a big stick".  ^___^'

I've actually thought of a potential "script" for the scene between her and Leopard-chan if you want to see it.

For designing the robot, should it be one of those boxy kind like those from old sci-fi movies, or should the robot look like her but mechanical? :-/

Yeah, I will be using the young blue-haired Leopard-tan for this. But after her change in mentality after seeing the error of her ways, she decided to adopt a more mature look [as the present-day teal-haired self]

Quote

I'm not completely sure. She could be capable of scolding because she has been gradually recovering from depression over the years- although she still has ways to go on that :-|

Quote

Almost...

System 1-tan: Yes, she is certainly outspoken and hotblooded!

System 2-tan: Yes, but people rarely listen to her :(

System 3-tan: Very outspoken but not all that hotblooded although she does get a little bratty at times.

System 4-tan: No, she's hardly the outspoken type and not hotblooded.

System 5-tan: No, she rarely talks but is still highly expressive.

System 6-tan: Outspoken but usually not very hotblooded. She is one of the more nonchalant Mac-tans, except when dealing with perversion or getting upstaged by Leopard-tan's robot!

System 7-tan: Generally unexpressive, but as you said- in a cool way!

Mac OS 8-tan: Very outspoken and moderately hotblooded.

Mac OS 9-tan: Yes, very much of both!

Quote
The Classic Girls are probably a lot more capable of scolding Leopard-chan before they leave.  But like a steel trussel, the more pressure you put on Leopard-chan, the more stubborn and defensive she becomes, which is why even her immediate OSX sisters scolding her wouldn't have an effect.
Thanks- I couldn't think of a good explanation of why the OSX sisters' scolding wouldn't have much effect!

Quote
But 7-san gets through to her precisely because she doesn't confront her directly at all, but rather performs the old adage of "talking softly" and "carrying a big stick".  ^___^'
Aha! I've got an idea of how she effectively confronts her. System 7-tan tells Leopard-tan to see a year into the future or so to see how the rest of the Classic Mac-tans are doing without them (hint: They are separated wanderers and most, if not all of them are worse-off!) but still calmly talks to her.

I've actually thought of a potential "script" for the scene between her and Leopard-chan if you want to see it.

Well we do want to keep it relatively easy to draw after all, so we can nix idea 2.  Idea 1 sounds fine, but perhaps with a little extra OS-tan parody added.  ^__^

Supposing the robot looked like a Leopard Widget, but with mechanical arms and tank tracks for legs.  ^__^

Your idea actually does make use of her time travel abilities and all, so wouldn't want to discard it outright if we can help it.  I've modified my original script idea to include it.  See if it works out (and of course truncate as much as you want):

Sorry for any excessive sap, but you did say you wanted the story to have a small serious side to it.

Hopefully you can get very far with this comic.

===========================

And I just tuckered myself out, so I'll have to leave it there for the evening.  Good luck!

Added after 8 minutes:

PS:  Just as an afterthought....

System 7-tan, physically, always reminded me a bit of Shana from Shakugan no Shana

Emo personality-wise, though, I think she reminds me more and more of Mai from Kanon 2006.  ;)

Here are the first four panels of the Mac Party special: (aw darnit! Photobucket's resizing made some of the text hard to read!)

On panel 3, Mac System 5-tan is saying "Heheheh... I dare you to slam that on the counter." And Mac System 3-tan is barely awake, getting a rather rude awakening! :D

Oops... I forgot to mention that Mac System 6-tan is holding a large box of pancake mix! ^^;

That's a wonderful script, C-Chan! It's so sappy...but in a touching, sweet kind of way. I never would've associated such drama with the Mac-tans before. (Though at one point I wanted to do a comic like this with 2k, XP and Vistan, but I thought it would be too sad for an XP Persecution Complex sufferer like myself).

I also like the idea for the widget robot. But...gasp...I just noticed something! In that translation widget, I see the words "giant robot"! Is this a coincidence, or what? @@

I like what I'm seeing with this comic, though. I wish there was a bigger pic, but so far System 6 and 9-san are getting the cutest Macs award from me! Panicking System 3-chan is really funny in the last panel, too.

I do almost all of my work in Inkscape, except for the dialogue, speech balloons, some backgrounds and special effects which I still do in Photoshop.

I used to do all my work in Photoshop until I first used Inkscape and have transitioned from predominant usage of the former to the latter over the months.

Next up I was thinking of writing short bios for each of the Mac-tans for this comic (as well as any other significant characters) to get to know them better!

Oooh! How long have you been a Mac user? ;012

I've been using Macs since the days of System 7.5 and currently use 10.4.

Here is a sample of one of the bios, based off the bio format from C-Chan's Annex Project (I'm just giving credit where credit may be due!)

I'll start with... Pu-chan! (because she seems to have gained a lot of popularity on OSC, and Puma is the first and oldest version of OSX I have used!)

Mac OS 10.1-tan
also known as: Puma, Pu-chan

height: 145 cm [4'9"]
hair color: blue
eye color: light green
gets along best with: Mac System 4-tan, Mac System 7-tan, Darwin OS-tan, Rhapsody-tan
iPod-tan usually paired up with: Gold mini-tan

Puma-tan is timid, mousy and insecure. She is avoidant of conflict but can emit screams that are powerful enough to shatter windows and is rumored to wield other formidable tactics and know many dark secrets! But whatever potential she has is usually squandered as she is often made to do maid work. She wants to stay out of the Mac House perversion conflict but often gets dragged into it, most notably by Cheetah-tan and OSX-tan.

Drats, I must be loosing my perv edge T__T

Thanks for the bio on Puma-chan. After reading the part about her acting as a maid, I now want to draw her in a French maid outfit. Holding a kickass gun. lol.

And I would like to state I am a Mac Evangelist minus an actual Mac. The first Mac I used was...well...I'm not sure, it was a library computer, I think it might have been Mac OS 10.0 or 10.1, it was an iMac G3 at any rate. When I actually get my Mac (or I should say commandeer my dad's Mac, cause he'll be the one funding it) it'll be running Leopard.

Widgetbot is hilarious, BTW...

Already cooed at Panel 2, but Panel 1 shows off a good way of working around the lack of shading.  When it's dark, tinge the panel as so.  When it's moonlight, make it bluish.  When its sunrise/sunset, an orange overlay works great.  Offers all the special effects without the grueling work.  ^^

Panel 3 is quite the shocker: I usually think of the hyper-active 3-chan as being consistently hyperactive -- instead, she seems to be in some sort of a carb crash in the mornings.  ^^;

Sonata-sama's cameo in this panel is the best I've seen of her -- adorable right down to the tip of her hair wisp.  ^.^
But agree -- micro-chibi System 6-tan beats them all in that department.  ^__^

Panel 4:  I could probably borrow 6-chan for a while.  I'd get a reliable alarm clock, a great bodyguard (although she talks too much), and +6 feet worth of fine fine Mac-tan.  ^_____^

*coos*

QuoteShe just dropped it. But I can change it so that the sack does go flying and maybe hit someone. I like slapstick comedy too!

It's kinda heavy, though.  ^^;
I was actually thinking instead if it really did fall on the ground but opened on impact, covering half of 3-chan in a cloud of flour.  ^___^

QuoteFufufu... thought she was a firecracker somehow, like her older sister 3-chan.  ^^
Nah, she was originally a lot like Mac System 3-tan in personality though. But after finding out that System 4.0 + 4.1 were very minor updates to the Mac OS, I decided she'd still be very friendly but more introverted and with an inferiority complex. Incidentally, Mac System 4-tan gets along best with Pu-chan and Mac System 7-tan!

Quote[After the Classic-tans leave the house one by one (with some offering an earful to the young brat), the OSX-tans give her an earful as well (with even Pu-chan offering a few stuttering complaints of her own, Mikuru-style).  ^____^]
Pu-chan may be braver than we thought! :D

Quote[Stubborn and fuming with indignation, Leopard-chan chastises them all insisting she's done nothing wrong, then dashes off to lock herself in her room.  She expects them all to come over to apologize, but instead they leave as well in the hopes of finding their Classic sisters.]
That is funny and sad at the same time! What the other OSX-tans did was harsh but certainly the right thing to do!

Quote[Not sure if you want to include the segment of the Binteji Renmei after all, but this is probably the part where ][-chan has her own small chat with the Classic-tans.]
I'll include it. By the time these moments happen in the comic, all the Classic Mac-tans would be at the Binteeji Renmei. Would ][-chan talk about her own personal experiences with retirement and choosing to retire?

Quote[About an hour or so later, Leopard-chan emerges from the room a little peeved, but gets confused when she finds the house deserted.  Suddenly, she hears some ridiculous bawling coming from outside.]
Now who could that be bawling...

Quote[When she goes to investigate, she finds System 7-tan lying next to a tree with her usual blank expression.  She's surrounded by and comforting all of the OSX-kuns, who are bawling waterfall tears at the fact that all the girls left the house.]
Whoa... the OSX-kuns miss ALL the girls? WTF, dude?
...

Aha! Even when getting thrashed by those certain Mac-tans who aggressively hate perversion plus the one who just likes to mess with them [that is Cheetah-tan, btw], deep down the OSX-kuns do care for all their relatives including them and vice-versa!

Either that or they'd have no one to swoon over and whatnot ;006

MOE MOE JAAAA!

Quote7: [monotone] Hello Leopard-san.

Leopard:  [confused] Uh... um.... hi........... 7-san, right?

7:  *nods*

7:  Who knows... *scratches behind Tiger-kun's ear*

Leopard:  ???

7:  Are you busy?  I need someone good with a blade to spar with me this afternoon.  Does this sound like something you can help me with?

Leopard:  [excitedly]  CAN I?!!!
*her magic wand morphs into an intimidating, futuristic sword*
HAH!!!  Don't feel bad if you get beat!!  I was top of my class in my Security Courses!!  ;)

[Following a brief time lapse, we see Leopard-chan's wand sword stuck to a tree or on the ground.  Leopard-chan herself is all cut up and beat up, and lying on her knees visibly humiliated.  The blunt-end of 7-san's katana is pressed to Leopard-chan's neck, but 7-san's expression and tone is still the same.]
So, Mac System 7-tan still has her swordfighting abilities after all, and got to unleash some much-deserved PWNAGE against the overconfident little brat! As I said earlier... This is freaking AWESOME and SOOOO BAD***!! System 7-tan FTW!! ;010 ;010

QuoteLeopard:  [shaking]  This is.. im-... possible....! How could... I... lose....?  I... had.... all the.... ad... advantages....!  All.... the..... latest... technologies...!
Tsk tsk tsk... Overconfidence at its worst. I know of such overconfidence firsthand. In one of my class subjects for some years, I was one of the best in my class (and not just because there were so many incompetent people in it) and I developed a superiority complex but last year when I decided to go honors, I ended up as one of the worst in the class and lost all of my confidence because of the very different rules and policies ;014

Quote7:  [still monotone] Even the best weapons in the world are wasted on amateurs.  As long as you are still a young, immature kitten, you will never win even against my primitive sword.
So true! What good is a super advanced tool if one does not have skill or experience with it? ;014

Quote*pulls sword away and sheathes it*

7:  Go home.  Even my straw man makes a better sparring partner than you.  Now I have to train harder to protect a useless person like yourself.  *walks off*
Ooh! A very sassy System 7-tan! :D

QuoteLeopard: [crying, visibly hurt]  THAT'S NOT FAIR!!  I'M STILL USEFUL IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS!!!!

7:  [disinterested]  Is that so?

Leopard:  I MAY NOT BE AS GOOD WITH A SWORD LIKE YOU, BUT YOU CAN'T JUDGE ME JUST BECAUSE OF THAT!!

7:  I can't?
...And b****y! HA!

QuoteLeopard:  HAVEN'T YOU THOUGHT ABOUT MY FEELINGS?!!!  HOW BAD AND MEAN IT IS TO SAY-!!!! TO MAKE... ME... feel........... useless..........  *gasps*

7:  ...

[Leopard-chan is still crying, but now her face starts to show some remorse.  Obviously something feels very familiar about the situation.]
Aha! This is where Leopard-tan begins to see the error of her ways and understands what she has done to her Classic sisters!

Quote[System 7-tan doesn't do anything, but instead walks over and sits next to Leopard-chan.]

7:  [still monotone] It is true that no one is completely useless.  We all have our own special gifts that define who we are and that make our lives meaningful.
...And there is the wise, compassionate side of System 7-tan's personality! :D

She is right, and what she says does also apply to the Mac Family. Some are more or less capable than the others but all of them have qualities that make each one special!

Quote7:  You said before that your wand can peer into the future.  I don't know much about that stuff, but can you use it to foresee a future with our family divided as is?

[Leopard-chan is hesitant at first, but nods and goes to pull out her wand sword.]

[The ensuing scenes would probably have her and 7-san observe brief glimpses of the future where most of the Classic-tans are suffering cold and lonely Wanderer lives.  Gone from their eyes is the enthusiasm and can-do optimism they had before, replaced instead by despair and helplessness.  Unable and unwilling to help themselves out of a crushing feeling of obsolescence, they allow themselves to waste away into obscurity.]

[System 7-tan never guilt trips Leopard-chan here either, instead letting the powerful examples help the young girl understand her folly on her own.]

[It works, as Leopard-chan quickly and frantically dashes away in search of her sisters.  Fortunately, she doesn't have to travel very far.]
That is so sad! Shows that the Mac House divided against itself cannot stand! (I'm going to use that quote later in the story! :D )

A little baffling is that why didn't the Classic Mac-tans all just move to the Binteeji Renmei but rather live cold lives as wanderers? Maybe it was because they were forced to retire, were unprepared and unwilling (but would have moved to the Binteeji Renmei when finally prepared and willing)?

QuoteSorry for any excessive sap, but you did say you wanted the story to have a small serious side to it.
I like the sap, and lots of it! Oddly enough, I was not interested in a whole bunch of sap until Bella came along with sappy stories and her love for them!

QuoteHopefully you can get very far with this comic.
I'm hopin'!

QuoteSystem 7-tan, physically, always reminded me a bit of Shana from Shakugan no Shana
OMG! She really does look a lot like Shana! Must draw Shana parody! Although I have also wanted to draw a "Kill Bill" parody too.

Quote
QuoteNice script. I think the ground would be a better placing for Leopard-tan's lost sword

Easiest to draw too. Agreed.  ^^
I agree because it is easier to draw!

QuoteI thought it might be about time too.  After all, we assume that she hasn't really ever stopped practicing, so she may actually be stronger than before.  ^__^
She is also much much wiser than before too! In her youth, she was overambitious and reckless because she had a lot to live up to (and wanted to avoid a similar fate to Macintosh System 4-tan's, who also had a lot to live up to and had a predecessor who was a superstar back in the day). In an insane move to try and show off the power of the Mac Family, she attempted to assassinate 95-tan but that failed miserably (of course! 95-tan was pretty much being trained from birth!).

System 7-tan has had several years to think over all the mistakes she made in the past and out of force of habit, she still does some sword fighting. While the chance for revenge is still slim, she is much stronger and wiser than she ever was and maybe she doesn't need revenge!

QuoteYou might as well pop open a bag of sugar and shove the contents into my small, piggy body, cause it's practically the same as watching this.  I call it Dangerously Cute!  >v<
Thanks! And I'm just getting started!

QuoteAlready cooed at Panel 2, but Panel 1 shows off a good way of working around the lack of shading.  When it's dark, tinge the panel as so.  When it's moonlight, make it bluish.  When its sunrise/sunset, an orange overlay works great.  Offers all the special effects without the grueling work.  ^^
I'm happy that I can still keep this simple and still yield the same effect!

QuotePanel 3 is quite the shocker: I usually think of the hyper-active 3-chan as being consistently hyperactive -- instead, she seems to be in some sort of a carb crash in the mornings.  ^^;
She's not much of a morning person! ^_^

(I will continue this response)

3 more bios: BTW, any ideas for nicknames for Mac System 1-tan and System 3-tan?

Macintosh System 1-tan
also known as: ?

height: 125 cm [4'1"]
hair color: black
eye color: silver
Gets along best with: Apple II-tan, Mac System 2-tan, OSX Server-tan, OSX Jaguar-tan
iPod-tan usually paired up with: Red nano-tan

Macintosh System 1-tan is feisty, charismatic and straightforward with leadership skills but is limited in memory and has a one-track mind. She carries a large hammer as a her weapon of choice and she speaks almost entirely in Newspeak. Although the mother of the Classic Mac-tans, she is more like a sister to them (with Apple II-tan being their 'mother figure' still to this day). She sees the conflict against perversion in the Mac House and taking action against the perverts as an opportunity for redemption because she has done a lot of things in the past she is not very proud of.

Macintosh System 2-tan
also known as: Ahiru-chan, The Quacker

height: 127 cm [4'2"]
hair color: black
eye color: silver
Gets along best with: Mac System 1-tan, Mac System 4-tan, OSX Panther-tan, OSX Leopard-tan
iPod-tan usually paired up with: Green nano-tan

Macintosh System 2-tan is a self-proclaimed professor, major in the Newspeak and Duckspeak language arts. She is very observant, witty, intelligent, conservative-minded and usually calm but prone to outbursts of insanity and she is known as Ahiru-chan or The Quacker because of the duck puppet she carries around and uses for her lectures. Being so caught up in her work, she barely noticed  the perversion in the Mac House but she disapproves of both sides of the perversion conflict and believes it is corrupting.

She is a misunderstood genius, with few believing what she says, but one day she may get the last laugh.

Macintosh System 3-tan
also known as: ?

height: 129 cm [4'3"]
hair color: black w/multicolor streaks
eye color: silver
Gets along best with: Mac System 4-tan, Mac OS 8-tan, Mac OS 9-tan, OSX Tiger-tan
iPod-tan usually paired up with: Pink nano-tan

Macintosh System 3-tan is very cheerful and outgoing inventor girl who loves knitting, shopping and making simple gadgets. She gets along very well with all of her relatives and is very fond of Mac OS 9-kun in a platonic way. She is more efficient at tasks than Mac System 1-tan and Mac System 2-tan but is somewhat klutzy, cannot multitask, has a huge fear of bugs and is the least stable Mac-tan.

YAY  more bios.... okay at the risk of sounding n00bsh I have to ask... Who is ][-tan?
[EDIT]Nevermind got it x3

And if you need an excuse for wandering... they don't want to retire yet they want to still be useful unfortunately the emotional crush they received from Leopard keeps them from working to their full potential and they keep moving because they either mess up or think they mess up even if they are actually doing well.

>.> Man that's depressing...

I knew I was forgetting something x__x

But I didn't get to the B-W-H because I don't have any idea for realistic measurements and I'm not familiar with them at all :(

Here's panel 5!

Mac System 1-tan tries to break open some eggs, but in a way I seriously would not recommend! But being the prankster and trouble maker she is, Mac System 5-tan is hoping that System 1-tan drops the hammer on those eggs! The two girls with the blindfolds almost have the right idea. Personally I would have gone with using ear plugs!

QuoteThank you Bella-hime. ^___^
But I am surprised, considering I came up with the entire sappy Lisa-chan/Apple I-sama arc. When you really look at it, the Macs are just skilled-coverers-of-much-sap. ^__^;

True, but that was an earlier time. The father back you go, the more sap there is for the taking. Even thought the 1990s there was a lot of drama (with the OS wars and such)-- though things seem to have leveled off now.

QuoteAh! Where have you been all our lives, Guy-san? [I'll call you "Fawkes-san" for now] ^___^

I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years -- when it comes to projects like these, more heads are better. ^.^

If I hadn't seen V for Vendetta, I probably would have taken that as a Harry Potter reference, too. XD

QuoteOMG,... that crappy "Fifth Elements" movie was prophetic. The day eventually came that "Green" has become part of the common vernacular. @.@

Le sigh... Excuse me for a sec.... ^^;

*throws self in vat of frying oil*

Oh gawd...I remember seeing The Fifth Element when I was, like, ten or something. @__@

QuoteI've used everything from Jaguar to Leopard myself, but only intermittently. I never owned a Macintosh myself, having evolved into a fairly hardcore Linux user/Lover-of-Lowcost-Netbooks.

Still, depending on how my programming goes, I was thinking of picking a small Mac up just so I ca have a decent development platform.

Wouldn't want to deprive my good friend Aurora-hime from some .DMG files. ^__^

Depending on how my space problems go, I might pick up a VAX so I can have a decent, reliable personal computer!

Oh man...I'm usually a bundle of nervousness in this sense. As soon as I realize I'm ahead in something, I start to panic, 'cause I don't want to fall behind and look like a moron.

QuoteThat is so sad! Shows that the Mac House divided against itself cannot stand! (I'm going to use that quote later in the story!  )

Very well put. I always thought of the Macs as being a great deal closer and friendlier with each other than, say, the Windows-tans or even some of the Linux-tans. No wonder they would run into trouble as soon as they start to turn against each other.

Somehow I think a lot of OS-tans would avoid joining the Binteeji Renmei because (in their minds) it carries the stigma of being old or useless. They probably wouldn't realize that in many ways it's the opposite...but as a wanderer, they can still feel, in some way, that they're "useful".

QuoteI like the sap, and lots of it! Oddly enough, I was not interested in a whole bunch of sap until Bella came along with sappy stories and her love for them!

Thank you very much Aurora-sama! I'm so happy you like all my sappy, soapy, tear-jerking tales. Though, some of the first dramatic stories that got me thinking up my own involved System 7-tan and OS/2-tan. So I really have to thank you and C-Chan. I don't think I realized how much I liked them until I came here. ^^

QuoteOMG! She really does look a lot like Shana! Must draw Shana parody! Although I have also wanted to draw a "Kill Bill" parody too.

Haha! I think one of my first drawings was a semi-inadvertent Kill Bill parody XD

Yay, some more fine Mac profiles! Thank you for posting these, it's helping me catch up on my Mac-tan trivia :3

And panel 5 is looking mighty funny. Though I wouldn't want to be the one to have to clean up the mess that System 1-tan makes...no wonder Pu-chan feels so overworked ^_~

Gleeful 5-tan is cute, I just can't get over her purple + gray eyes. Panicking 8-tan is golden, and even with the blindfolds I can tell 6 and 4-tan are, like, "no...no...not THIS...again!"
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: C-Chan on November 09, 2008, 12:24:46 AM
QuotePu-chan may be braver than we thought!

Not really -- but seeing her angry has much "Moe" potential.  ^.^

QuoteI'll include it. By the time these moments happen in the comic, all the Classic Mac-tans would be at the Binteeji Renmei. Would ][-chan talk about her own personal experiences with retirement and choosing to retire?

It is true that ][-chan was slowly displaced by the Mac-tans, to the point there literally was nothing left for her to do while at home.  But her personality was definitely not one to give up so easily -- she was after all a great storyteller and could've stuck around to entertain new generations of Mac-tans.

The real deciding factor for her retirement was Lisa-chan -- she never really lived as much of a family with Lisa-chan and she wanted to make up for all the years she neglected her.  And having lived pretty much in the shadows of the Mac-tans, it was not a hard decision for her to move away.

I figure that's one way she convinces the Classic-tans to go back -- unlike her, THEY have always lived as a strong family unit, and have too much to lose if they don't get it back together.  Not when the reason for their departure is pretty much comical (in her opinion), and easy to fix with a little communication (or at worst, in her opinion, "a good whoopin"... j/k, j/k).  ^___^

QuoteAha! Even when getting thrashed by those certain Mac-tans who aggressively hate perversion plus the one who just likes to mess with them [that is Cheetah-tan, btw], deep down the OSX-kuns do care for all their relatives including them and vice-versa!

Either that or they'd have no one to swoon over and whatnot

I would venture to guess it's a little bit of both.  ^_____________^

Incidentally, when I say they scowl vengefully at Leopard-chan, I'd imagine it'd be in that comical "diamond eye" glare you see in Anime.  They're hardly the serious type.  ^>^

QuoteSo, Mac System 7-tan still has her swordfighting abilities after all, and got to unleash some much-deserved PWNAGE against the overconfident little brat! As I said earlier... This is freaking AWESOME and SOOOO BAD***!! System 7-tan FTW!!

If you can, do try and watch any clip of Kanon 2006 featuring Mai (should be plenty on Youtube).  I tell you she'd be PERFECT for System 7-tan in her Emo-yet-still-a-competent-swordswoman state.  ^___^

QuoteTsk tsk tsk... Overconfidence at its worst. I know of such overconfidence firsthand. In one of my class subjects for some years, I was one of the best in my class (and not just because there were so many incompetent people in it) and I developed a superiority complex but last year when I decided to go honors, I ended up as one of the worst in the class and lost all of my confidence because of the very different rules and policies

Still strikes me that both you and Bella admitted to suffering from some form of "overconfidence" when you were both younger.  I'm the polar opposite and still suffered myself.

Guess it always barrels down to avoiding extremes.  -v-

QuoteOoh! A very sassy System 7-tan!

...And b****y! HA!

That's the beauty of it.  The most unnerving thing to Leopard-chan is that System 7-tan is not scolding her at all in any of these instances.  The monotonous, emotionless, disinterested voice of System 7-tan confuses and catches the young girl off-guard, causing her own natural defensiveness to be used against her.

Kind of like an internet troll who gets ignored completely and is literally starved to death, making a complete ass of himself from start to finish.  ^^

QuoteAha! This is where Leopard-tan begins to see the error of her ways and understands what she has done to her Classic sisters!

...And there is the wise, compassionate side of System 7-tan's personality!

She is right, and what she says does also apply to the Mac Family. Some are more or less capable than the others but all of them have qualities that make each one special!

System 7-tan is a pragmatic girl.  She knows that if she doesn't understand that she's in the wrong, then everyone would be better served talking to a wall.  ^.^

QuoteA little baffling is that why didn't the Classic Mac-tans all just move to the Binteeji Renmei but rather live cold lives as wanderers? Maybe it was because they were forced to retire, were unprepared and unwilling (but would have moved to the Binteeji Renmei when finally prepared and willing)?

Likes Fawkes-san touched on, had it not been for ][-chan's persuasion, they likely wouldn't have thought themselves ready to retire.  They love the Vintage Girls [no offense], but they surely would have thought it was better to not give up yet and find a place somewhere.  Their current stay at the Binteji Renmei was really just meant to be a place to spend the night, since they left in such a hurry and had nowhere to go (and not enough money for a few hotel rooms).

QuoteSystem 7-tan has had several years to think over all the mistakes she made in the past and out of force of habit, she still does some sword fighting. While the chance for revenge is still slim, she is much stronger and wiser than she ever was and maybe she doesn't need revenge!

Yes, agree entirely on this.  ^___^

The sword fighting may be kind of a force of habit, but it really should be treated more as self-discipline.  When she was the gangster type, I'm sure she had her skill, but never really treated her sword as an extension of herself but rather just as a nasty weapon she chopped stuff with.  So in eventually gaining mastery and respect for a real Sword Art, she starts building a more genuine sense of self-confidence.

QuoteYAY more bios.... okay at the risk of sounding n00bsh I have to ask... Who is ][-tan?
[EDIT]Nevermind got it x3

I take it someone's gonna need to see... the OTHER comic... ^>^

QuoteMac System 1-tan tries to break open some eggs, but in a way I seriously would not recommend! But being the prankster and trouble maker she is, Mac System 5-tan is hoping that System 1-tan drops the hammer on those eggs! The two girls with the blindfolds almost have the right idea. Personally I would have gone with using ear plugs!

I vote riot shields instead.  ^___^

Cute panel, but then no surprises here eh?  ^v^

QuoteDepending on how my space problems go, I might pick up a VAX so I can have a decent, reliable personal computer!

Wow!  I swear you could fit about 200 Aspire Ones in that thing.  ^^;

QuoteVery well put. I always thought of the Macs as being a great deal closer and friendlier with each other than, say, the Windows-tans or even some of the Linux-tans. No wonder they would run into trouble as soon as they start to turn against each other.

Correct on all accounts.  ^__^

Kind of the feeling one gets in the prospect of living in one's own place alone -- you run a greater risk of poverty/debt/foreclosure, but BY GAWD you feel independent.  ;)

The Vintage-tans aren't oppressive by any means, but they recognize perfectly well that certain perceptions of freedom will always cast them in a negative light.

QuoteSonata-sama's cameo in this panel is the best I've seen of her -- adorable right down to the tip of her hair wisp.

*coos*
She is also great friends with A/UX-tan and can overlook your perversion (you're still under the influence of "Ichigo 100%", right?) because you have many redeeming qualities! Why, how else could she be such good friends with Cheetah-tan-- oh wait. It happens that Cheetah-tan's main redeeming quality IS the fact that she is more perverted than the OSX-kuns (and loves to mess with them!) and that makes her a valuable ally! XD

QuoteIt's kinda heavy, though.  ^^;
I was actually thinking instead if it really did fall on the ground but opened on impact, covering half of 3-chan in a cloud of flour.  ^___^

But judging from how long I've been away, methinks my suggestion is too little too late.... -.-
I like that idea and it is not too late for me to change the fourth panel to do that! (whoo-hoo for doing almost all of my work in Inkscape!)

QuoteA recent user actually. I started with Tiger-tan :P
Mac only opened there Apple Center here in the Phil a few years back
Before becoming a Mac user, what computers and OSes did you use before?

QuoteShe still has the goods, this girl.  ^__^
Is it seriously wrong that I was tempted to have a Mac Party or zerOSanity page guest-starring Mahoro, out fighting perversion? ^_^

QuoteTrue, but that was an earlier time. The father back you go, the more sap there is for the taking. Even thought the 1990s there was a lot of drama (with the OS wars and such)-- though things seem to have leveled off now.
Correct, but I had in mind an extremely sappy Mac comic that takes place in the near future!

QuoteIf I hadn't seen V for Vendetta, I probably would have taken that as a Harry Potter reference, too. XD
I didn't know who Guy Fawkes was until I saw the Wikipedia article. "V for Vendetta" came to mind when I first saw the name of Guy Fawkes on here! XD

QuoteOMG,... that crappy "Fifth Elements" movie was prophetic. The day eventually came that "Green" has become part of the common vernacular. @.@

Le sigh... Excuse me for a sec.... ^^;

*throws self in vat of frying oil*
That sounds awful! But I'm mostly concerned about "Idiocracy" or even "Soylent Green" becoming prophetic! :(

QuoteVery well put. I always thought of the Macs as being a great deal closer and friendlier with each other than, say, the Windows-tans or even some of the Linux-tans. No wonder they would run into trouble as soon as they start to turn against each other.
Indeed! The Macs and even the whole Apple Family when they were all together are (and are still) a very close-knit family where they all work together and get along well despite remaining conflicts and generation gaps. A/UX-tan, GS/OS-chan, Newton-tan, Apple ][-chan, and Lisa-san(?) still contact the Macs regularly and the Macs also visit them from time to time as well.

QuoteSomehow I think a lot of OS-tans would avoid joining the Binteeji Renmei because (in their minds) it carries the stigma of being old or useless. They probably wouldn't realize that in many ways it's the opposite...but as a wanderer, they can still feel, in some way, that they're "useful".
Yup! That is what puts off a lot of wanderers from joining, including Altair-tan who for many years would not join them despite the odds she was against as a wanderer.

But some of the wanders are by choice because that is what suits them best (such as DexOS-tan, who has many friends in many factions. I think that A/UX-tan would also fall under this latter category because although she was evicted from the Apple Family in 1996 and has been a wanderer since then, her life as a wanderer has given her a lot of freedom!)

QuoteThank you very much Aurora-sama! ^^
I remember when you first joined, you thought you didn't have the time or focus to make a dramatic OS-tan comic, and I thought I didn't have the time or focus to make one either!

Any chance of starting that proposed story after finishing the whole Linux-sama story? ;012

Incidentally, the really sappy Mac comic I proposed in this post involves System 7-tan finally and completely overcoming her depression!

QuoteYay, some more fine Mac profiles! Thank you for posting these, it's helping me catch up on my Mac-tan trivia :3
I'll get at least one more up today!

QuoteAnd panel 5 is looking mighty funny. Though I wouldn't want to be the one to have to clean up the mess that System 1-tan makes...no wonder Pu-chan feels so overworked ^_~
At least at the moment that panel takes place, Pu-chan is still asleep! And I also do not want to be the one to clean that mess up either! Hopefully if System 1-tan ever does any egg-smashing, she has to be the one that cleans it up!

QuoteGleeful 5-tan is cute, I just can't get over her purple + gray eyes. Panicking 8-tan is golden, and even with the blindfolds I can tell 6 and 4-tan are, like, "no...no...not THIS...again!"
It is a strange and rather questionable strategy but by wearing blindfolds, they could claim to not be witnesses of any egg-smashing incidents and be exempt from cleaning it up! :D

QuoteNot really -- but seeing her angry has much "Moe" potential.  ^.^
And for a surprise because Pu-chan is hardly the angry type at all!

QuoteIt is true that ][-chan was slowly displaced by the Mac-tans, to the point there literally was nothing left for her to do while at home.

It is sad that she left because she still could have been useful with her wisdom, storytelling and morale-boosting, but it is very sweet that she at least left for the reason of spending time with Lisa-san! Now I'm wondering how GS/OS-chan is involved with this...

I think she may have left at the same time as ][-chan and Lisa-san but I'm not sure why (aside from her loyalty to ][-chan) or if she left later (not wanting to deal with Amiga-sama who was one of her main rivals for some time).

QuoteI figure that's one way she convinces the Classic-tans to go back -- unlike her, THEY have always lived as a strong family unit, and have too much to lose if they don't get it back together.
Are you referring to when the Apple Family was just ][-chan and Lisa-san and maybe System 1-tan or was ][-chan never really able to form a strong bond with her family because she was so busy?

But she is right. "A Mac House divided against itself cannot stand!"

QuoteNot when the reason for their departure is pretty much comical (in her opinion), and easy to fix with a little communication (or at worst, in her opinion, "a good whoopin"... j/k, j/k).  ^___^
*chuckles*

"You all left for what reason?! Hehehehe!"
"What's so funny?"
"Come on, it can easily be solved with a little communication! Or a good whoopin!"
"What was that second option?"
"Oh, nothing! ^_^"

Just some relevant dialogue made up on the spot :D

QuoteI would venture to guess it's a little bit of both.  ^_____________^

Incidentally, when I say they scowl vengefully at Leopard-chan, I'd imagine it'd be in that comical "diamond eye" glare you see in Anime.  They're hardly the serious type.  ^>^
That's what I imagined too!

QuoteIf you can, do try and watch any clip of Kanon 2006 featuring Mai (should be plenty on Youtube).  I tell you she'd be PERFECT for System 7-tan in her Emo-yet-still-a-competent-swordswoman state.  ^___^
Okay then!

QuoteStill strikes me that both you and Bella admitted to suffering from some form of "overconfidence" when you were both younger.  I'm the polar opposite and still suffered myself.

Guess it always barrels down to avoiding extremes.  -v-
I once suffered from overconfidence and a superiority complex but even worse than that is that I know a sociopath with delusions of grandeur and have to deal with him on a daily basis at school ;014

QuoteThat's the beauty of it.  The most unnerving thing to Leopard-chan is that System 7-tan is not scolding her at all in any of these instances.  The monotonous, emotionless, disinterested voice of System 7-tan confuses and catches the young girl off-guard, causing her own natural defensiveness to be used against her.
Wow! That is very clever! Extra coolness points go to her for also knowing how to do some psychological torture! ;010

QuoteKind of like an internet troll who gets ignored completely and is literally starved to death, making a complete ass of himself from start to finish.  ^^
Oh yeah, I've dealt with those types too.

QuoteLikes Fawkes-san touched on, had it not been for ][-chan's persuasion, they likely wouldn't have thought themselves ready to retire.

][-chan taught the Mac-tans a lot and even long after she left, her ideals were still spread to the younger generations! Sadly, one of the things they learned turned out to be a liability in this case :(

I do agree that the Mac-tans are very friendly with the Vintage-tans and visit them from time to time! Which means such things as...

It is possible that GEM-tan forgave System 1-tan for what she did, and the two reconciled! :D

QuoteYes, agree entirely on this.

Perfectly said! ;019

QuoteI take it someone's gonna need to see... the OTHER comic... ^>^

AAAUGH! I still need to finish that and start the second one! >_<

QuoteI vote riot shields instead.  ^___^
Riot sheilds... Even better!

I'm almost done with panels 6 + 7 and will start panel 8 today!

Yo Aurora-hime.

Posting real quick since I'm hard at work finishing something just... for... you.  Well okay, not quite JUST for you, but certainly THANKS to you....  ^^

In the meantime, since we were just talking about the Binteji Renmei, it had occurred to me that I never once vectorized their logo.  Even to this date, it remained forever trapped in PSD format.

Well trapped it is no longer.  ^___^

Hopefully the new SVG logo will be useful to you someday.  ^^
The original fonts are included in a separate layer, but the primary layer has the fonts as Paths rather than Objects to avoid the usual font incompatibility.

4.2-tan: Macintosh System 4.2-tan is Mac System 5-tan's human alter-ego. While still a prankster and able to use magic, 4.2-tan is cautious, knowing that her pranks may not be as successful or effective because she can be seen by everyone. She keeps the fact she is Mac System 5-tan's alter-ego secret between her and Mac System 6-tan (who herself has an alter-ego) although Mac System 2-tan correctly suspected their identities and OSX Leopard-tan found out on her own, they have been courteous enough not to blurt it out.

QuoteShe is also great friends with A/UX-tan and can overlook your perversion (you're still under the influence of "Ichigo 100%", right?)

You havez to undertandeth.... that kind of pervy harem anime corruption is REALLY hard to detoxify.  I might be like that for a while -- would've been worse had I watched Shuffle.  XvX'

QuoteIs it seriously wrong that I was tempted to have a Mac Party or zerOSanity page guest-starring Mahoro, out fighting perversion?

Well you already had one cameoing Suiseiseki-sama.  So,... you know..... ^___^

QuoteThat sounds awful! But I'm mostly concerned about "Idiocracy" or even "Soylent Green" becoming prophetic!

That's amazing!  I just watched Idiocracy myself not so long ago, and you happened to mention it.  ^^
That movie had nothing but silly toilet humor, but I LOVED IT!  >v<
Very poignant political statement that [unfortunately] makes a sad bit of sense.  ^^;

QuoteA/UX-tan, GS/OS-chan, Newton-tan, Apple ][-chan, and Lisa-san(?) still contact the Macs regularly and the Macs also visit them from time to time as well.

Let's just say that Windows 2.0-chan does often admit to ][-chan her envy for the kind of close-knit family she has.  -v-

QuoteIncidentally, the really sappy Mac comic I proposed in this post involves System 7-tan finally and completely overcoming her depression!

Somehow I too have always thought of such a story as being as much a tearjerker as it would be a motivational piece.  ^^

QuoteAt least at the moment that panel takes place, Pu-chan is still asleep! And I also do not want to be the one to clean that mess up either! Hopefully if System 1-tan ever does any egg-smashing, she has to be the one that cleans it up!

FYI, a common wake-up call for Pu-chan is to have a "TO-DO" list unceremoniously scotch-taped to her forehead.  ^.^;

QuoteNow I'm wondering how GS/OS-chan is involved with this...

I think she may have left at the same time as ][-chan and Lisa-san but I'm not sure why (aside from her loyalty to ][-chan) or if she left later (not wanting to deal with Amiga-sama who was one of her main rivals for some time).

Oh no, GS/OS-san sticks to "][-sama" like glue to amber.  ^______^
Of course she would have left at the same time.

Also, there was no Binteji Renmei when they left -- Amiga-san arrived in ][-chan's plantation when it was still her property entirely.  Even if GS/OS-chan wanted to pick on her old rival, Amiga-san was a guest in ][-chan's house and that simply wasn't allowed.

By the time they (and later Windows 1.0/2.0-chan and UNIX-sama) decided to found the BR, the two had long reconciled.  All it took was living under the same roof and talking with her a little for GS/OS-chan to realize that Amiga-san wasn't a bad person at all.  ^__^

QuoteAre you referring to when the Apple Family was just ][-chan and Lisa-san and maybe System 1-tan or was ][-chan never really able to form a strong bond with her family because she was so busy?

I would imagine that ][-chan never stopped being busy, even when her main responsibilities were transferred over to the newer Mac-tans.  She would have definitely spent more time talking to them than with Lisa-chan, but she still was, in all respects, a "stranger in her own home".

Under that circumstance, they ended up being closer AFTER she retired and left than before.

QuoteJust some relevant dialogue made up on the spot

You got the idea!  ^.^

QuoteIt is possible that GEM-tan forgave System 1-tan for what she did, and the two reconciled!

Of course.  ^.^
It's a whole different world now -- it would be petty to continue the grudges of the past when there's nothing but harm to gain from them.  -v-

Quote4.4-tan: Macintosh System 4.4-tan is Mac System 6-tan's former identity now used as her alter-ego. When she got her identity secretly changed in early 1988, 4.4-tan was said to have disappeared and never seen again... until recently. She keeps the fact she is Mac System 6-tan's alter-ego secret between her and Mac System 5-tan (who herself has an alter-ego) although Mac System 2-tan correctly suspected their identities and OSX Leopard-tan found out on her own, they have been courteous enough not to blurt it out.

She is shorter, appears very cheerful and downplays a lot of her abilities to try and avoid any suspicion. While this works for the most part (even her arch-rivals ANTI-tan and WDEF-tan leave her alone, the OSX-kuns do not provoke her), Mac System 2-tan is highly suspicious of her and the OSX-kuns also show some suspicion. A dead giveaway to her identity is when she is unmasked- she still has the same eye colors as Mac System 6-tan. At least no one has tried unmasking her!

Thanks! This clears up a bit of confusion I had about 4.2 and 4.4-tan and their alter egos.

No, no, I think you're quite right - at least, WE haven't personified the Symbian OS, what I know of. Then again we have the enormous warmachine that is +Nijiura+ and the other japanese imageboards, who may very well have made one (or more), so I wouldn't say so before it's been properly checked. But hey, we can always do more of our own!

I proposed a Symbian OS-tan! Though I never drew her, only Symbian-tan's mother, EPOC-tan. (http://ostan-collections.net/imeeji/albums/userpics/11522/img362.png)

I didn't have many ideas for her, only that she should be a bit small, youngish and have two antenna-like cowlicks of hair, so I guess eveything's fair game. This would be better talked over in the Theories thread, though.

Thanks! This clears up a bit of confusion I had about 4.2 and 4.4-tan and their alter egos.
I understand where and why you'd be confused about them! They sure are WEIRD!! :D

QuoteLet's just say that Windows 2.0-chan does often admit to ][-chan her envy for the kind of close-knit family she has. -v-
After once having a loving family that was cruelly torn apart, and being exiled from most of her remaining family, her envies are perfectly understandable :(

That reminds me of Windows 2.0-chan's appearance in zerOSanity (page 36) where she saw a group of Mac-tans (and Darwin OS-tan) happily chatting with each other, which reminded her of the family she once had :..(

Quote
How sad...the Windowses are kinda tearing themselves apart, aren't they... : |
They are! In order to not lose any prestige, several things from the Windows Family's early history are completely hidden from them (i.e: Xenix-san's service and existence, Altair-tan's contributions, MS BOB-tan's existance which 3.1-tan and 95-tan do not speak of) and the members that did not gain their family a lot of market share (1.0-chan and 2.0-chan) were exiled!

It has even been conjectured that MS DOS-tan will be the next one to go...

Quote
Oh no, GS/OS-san sticks to "][-sama" like glue to amber. ^______^
Of course she would have left at the same time.
Aha! Of course! ^_^;

Now that means that ][-chan now has 3 friends she has a nearly inseparable bond with! :D

Quote
Also, there was no Binteji Renmei when they left -- Amiga-san arrived in ][-chan's plantation when it was still her property entirely. Even if GS/OS-chan wanted to pick on her old rival, Amiga-san was a guest in ][-chan's house and that simply wasn't allowed.
That explains the start of the Binteeji Renmei game concept you proposed, as you mentioned the founding members were at ][-chan's farm, founded the Binteeji Renmei and went to expand it from there!

Quote
By the time they (and later Windows 1.0/2.0-chan and UNIX-sama) decided to found the BR, the two had long reconciled. All it took was living under the same roof and talking with her a little for GS/OS-chan to realize that Amiga-san wasn't a bad person at all. ^__^

Back in those times, GS/OS-chan was bitter towards her rivals because she did not sell as well as they did and thought that she failed ][-chan. However after she reconciled with Amiga-sama, the two quickly became great friends!

Quote
I'm still scratching my head over how Unix-sama and Miggy could get along so well. :P
It is bizarre because those two are polar opposites but IIRC, Amiga-sama was able to stand up to Unix-sama without any threats or violence, and because she was so nice to Amix-san.

Quote
But I am confident, Aurora-sama, that if you have the will you can someday get to use the older Mac OSes.
There is one way I know of and can do (through the Mini vMac emulator) but I cannot legally do so, so I won't.

Just making some time till someone leaves a reply at the "Some of My OS-tan Designs..." thread.  Have too much stuff to add for a single post to cover.  ^^

QuoteI've only seen a few episodes of the first Code Geass but I liked it!

It's a very intriguing an intelligent series.  Like a mecha show with brains....  ^.^

QuoteBWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I thought that Terminator 4 looked promising at first but when I read through the spoilers (which many people hope are not true), I realized otherwise

...unlike that one, yeah.  ^.^;

Like I always say:  "Some things deserve to just die gracefully".  ^^;

QuoteAnd I just got inspiration for a picture idea with ][-chan, GS/OS-chan, AtariDOS-chan and PET-chan!

Fufufu... Just keep piling it on, Aurora-hime.  ^___^
Definitely very very happy and proud I helped give you so much stuff to draw about.

Likewise, I have so much I want to program for too.  ^.^

QuoteThat would have been an awesome game!

I'm still aiming to make my Concentration game, though.  ^^
Course, in typical C-chan style, it probably won't be isolated to just Concentration alone.  With a base game complete (including other Memory-style variants), I wouldn't mind trying to bake in a "Battle Mode" and/or a "Story Mode".

QuoteWhile I frown upon MVP characters in role playing games, Amiga-sama is an exception. Her reasons for having the best stats are justified- she was the most advanced home computer OS for several years!

Precisely.  ^^

QuoteTo fit in better with the other members, I guess?

Better than that... humility just comes on naturally to her.
If she simply 'pretended' to be a weak character, UNIX-sama likely wouldn't have liked her very much.

QuoteTrue- just acting nice can be a chore and is not very satisfying in the end.

Plus it's only a mask.  You could be smiling and laughing, but deep down inside cursing or coveting the person you're with.  -.-

QuoteThe OSX-tans will appear in the next page to help the Classic Mac-tans finish up. And the fact that the Mac-tans are very close-knit makes their separation all the more sadder

YES!!  ^v^
The Pu-chan arriveth. ^^

QuoteAnd those nibble marks add up, given how many iPod-tans there are!

Strangely-enough, they do avoid ONE particular apple in the entire house.  It's almost as if..... they treat it..... as if it were somebody else's home....  `v'

QuoteWait when the Classic Mac-tans leave do they take their associated iPods with them? or do they leave the iPods behind?

My suggestion that iPod-chans are always scurrying about all over the house was in part inspired by Elebits:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elebits

So with all the high-flung emotions and anger, they probably got frightened and sought refuge in every nook and cranny (under remote controls, inside fruit baskets, behind picture panes, etc).

Don't think the Classic-tans would have willingly taken the iPod-chans with them, since they don't feel they "own" them -- and even if they did, wouldn't have cared to stick around to search high and low for them.  ^.^

Panel 7 is looking good...I really can't point out a single character which I like the most, they're all so cute! System 8 and 9-tan's dresses are very adorable, and they might be my favorites here. Though System 4-tan is great, too-- 3-chan's hat is a little odd IMHO ^^

Very happy panel all and all, and I really love how you did the eyes, too.

Quotenice... is it wrong that the first thing I noticed was the cheese?

I know M$ proclaimed DOS as being dead yeaaaaars ago...so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if MSDOS-tan was the next to get the boot (and am surprised she hasn't).

Plus, there's all that XP-tan/Vistan stuff-- I'm sure those two CAN'T get along well as all.

QuoteUnfortunately I can't as that is Intel-only. My Mac Mini is the Power PC kind

Each of the characters had their own useful skills, but of course Amiga-sama was definitely the MVP of the early days, being the tallest, strongest, fastest, most resilient and most modern. In fact, few if any of the genuinely "vintage" OS-tans would actually be stronger than her to this date. -v-

She just doesn't "act" strong, is all. ^^

Heck, I'm sure Amiga-san could've thrown in with the CIOST, but she was too nice for them (and chose to make helping others her work in life).

QuotePlus there is a bit of that "Lechter" inspiration acting too in Unix-sama. Having lived all her life awashed in lies and corruption, UNIX-sama is literally attracted to "purity".

Acting nice is never the same as being genuinely honest (especially to yourself).

...that's probably why she likes Linux-sama so much, too. It's odd, really....I've always thought of the two as being very close, able to talk honestly with one another, to argue and share laughs-- but there still being a kind of deep void between them. I don't think Unix-sama would bring up the darker parts of her past very often, and I doubt Linux-sama would ever broach the subject (even if she does know a thing of two about it). -___-

QuoteI've only seen a few episodes of the first Code Geass but I liked it!

Code Geass was really awesome. I recomend it!

QuoteThat's right! I recently read that Windows 3.1 licenses will no longer be issued from MS. And I thought 3.1 ended all support in 2001, but 3.1 was used as an embedded OS until November 1st this year.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7707016.stm

I can't believe 3.1 was still used in jet entertainment systems! You'd think they would have used something....newer... O.o

On one hand, it's a bit sad that they're discontinuing support for one of the most revolutionary PC OSes of our time...on the other, it was revolutionary because it's the system largely responsible for M$'s foothold in the market. So...yeah...I'm not too sad.

QuoteAfter all the oppressive, abusive and annoying people she has had to deal with her whole life, it sure would be incredibly refreshing to meet someone that is nice, honest and pure!

...Like, Linux-sama. Again. ^^

I doubt Unix-sama's entire life was spent in the company of oppressive, abusive and annoying people-- but I do think those sorts would have brought out the worse in her.

QuoteI'm still aiming to make my Concentration game, though. ^^
Course, in typical C-chan style, it probably won't be isolated to just Concentration alone. With a base game complete (including other Memory-style variants), I wouldn't mind trying to bake in a "Battle Mode" and/or a "Story Mode".

I can't wait to see this game! I believe you can do this! :3

QuotePlus it's only a mask. You could be smiling and laughing, but deep down inside cursing or coveting the person you're with. -.-

Done that. I tend to avoid confrontations with people I don't like, even if it means being pretentious... -___-

Better than that... humility just comes on naturally to her.

So with all the high-flung emotions and anger, they probably got frightened and sought refuge in every nook and cranny (under remote controls, inside fruit baskets, behind picture panes, etc).
Aww! Cute ideas, and good inspiration source! (I've never played Elebits, but it looks very good!)

Quote
Don't think the Classic-tans would have willingly taken the iPod-chans with them, since they don't feel they "own" them -- and even if they did, wouldn't have cared to stick around to search high and low for them.  ^.^
That's what I thought too. After having more than enough BS from Leopard-tan, the Classic-tans just want to get the heck outta there!
---

I hope to get panel 8 of page 1 as well as the first two or three panels of page 2 up today!

I did get the bios for Mac System 4-tan, Cheetah-tan and Jaguar-tan posted: (hahaha! Order is overrated!)

Mac System 4-tan: Macintosh System 4-tan is is very friendly, carefree, strives to be as useful as she can, and is overall cheerful but picky, hides an inferiority complex and some feelings of envy towards her other relatives (because of her obscurity compared to them and that she is the last Mac-tan that cannot multitask). She is also glutinous, particularly fond of ice cream. Despite her inferiority complex and feelings of envy, she is usually able to keep a positive attitude and happily interact with her relatives.

She is oblivious to the perversion in and around the Mac House yet can accurately foresee (and is lucky enough to avoid) the next bout of perversion but rarely interferes as she feels like there isn't much she can do about it, and also because she finds the OSX-kuns' and Foobies-tan's perverted antics amusing.

Cheetah-tan: Cheetah-tan is a wild and mischievous dominatrix, who is strong and even more perverted than the OSX-kuns but that is what makes her a valuable ally to Mac System 6-tan, Mac OS 8-tan and Mac OS X-tan; the four of which teamed up to fight perversion. She is formidable and a little sadistic but is clumsy and insecure about herself. She likes to mess with the OSX-kuns and takes advantage of the fact that Foobies-tan likes to go after her!

Jaguar-tan: Jaguar-tan is the first self-confident OS X-tan. She is friendly, outgoing, tomboyish and hyper but socially awkward and sometimes difficult to work with. She loves comedy and is willing to join either side of the Mac House perversion conflict because she can!

Now then, time to finish up them DangOS.  ^.^

But first....

QuoteI agree. Its better to let a series die gracefully that make more episodes or movies that are just overkill

Read: Tenchi Muyo.  ^^;

QuoteCool! The snippet of code from your game that you posted up looked really good! And I know the story mode would be awesome because you are so great with stories!

I'm still not sure how a Story Mode would work out, but the Battle Mode would clearly involve a game of concentration with both a time limit and unique powers/traps/easter eggs that would be invoked with the right/wrong combination. Pick out a character that's nice (like Amiga-sama) and you'd be rewarded some thumbtacks to place on any card (so you can remember potentially important ones).

Disturb (=overturn without a match) a UNIX-sama card TWICE, and she'll destroy your entire game and make you start from scratch (but the timer wouldn't reset... :P)

And since Vistan is a bit of a ... piggy... you'll actually need to overturn FOUR of her cards just to get her out of the way.  ^___^

Stuff like that.  ^^

QuoteThe apple on OSX-tan's head!... I wouldn't want to go near it either. OSX-tan is my favorite of the canon OS-tans but she is also someone you really REALLY don't want to mess with!

And besides, don't forget... peeling that thing would destroy DSL-chan's house!  @v@

Only she and her little brother don't mind messing with OSX-tan (they've been able to do it for quite some time without getting caught).  ^___^

Incidentally, Rhapsody's bathrobe looks very nice on her -- probably even better than her original wear (before the blue and yellow add-ons).  If anything, that little "X" over her chest does it for me.  ^^

Her seems a little "poofier" than usual -- but aside from the fact that it's morning, I think it helps it look cuter too.  ^^

This is gonna end with Leopard-tan bringing home a bunch of her new Unix friends isn't it? Or is the disaster gonna be her breaking the spacetime continuum? >>
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Aurora Borealis on October 26, 2010, 02:47:17 PM
The disastrous part is a reference to Classic support being dropped, with Leopard-tan being very blunt towards the Classic-tans when she was trying to help them, by making them retire!

The Mac-tans might not mind Leopard-tan bringing friends over, as long as they're the nicer of the Unices! (Incidentally, the Mac and Unix forces would be somewhat allied since the late 90's or early 2000's, given all the Unix technology introduced in OSX, and the OSX-style appearances of some Linux distros)
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Bella on October 26, 2010, 02:56:36 PM
Ahhhh, I see... this was before she learnt herself some manners! :<

I think the OSXen would probably see themselves as being allied with the Unices -- dunno how the Unices would feel about THEM, however. I imagine Unix-sama and BSD-tan would be partial toward them (since OSX, like Linux, is helping ensure the survival and advancement of Unixkind), but the Linuxes and BSDs might be a little more suspicious of them (being closed-source, and also having the backing of one of the more powerful - and potentially dangerous - computer companies, Apple).

Leopard and Snow Leopard would probably consider themselves especially close to the Unices due to 10.5 and 10.6's Single Unix Specification certification (making them the first OSXes and first BSDs to gain such a certification).

looking forward to this. also appreciating the switch away from vector graphics, Aurora-hime, since your comics always used them and seemed a little.......robotic? (i much prefer the human touch this new one has. <3)

Post by: Aurora Borealis on October 27, 2010, 03:29:52 PM
Thanks! I'm still trying to experiment more with vector graphics (as well as hand-drawn stuff to diversify) to give them a more human feel- though with my hand-drawn stuff I strive for a manga look, and with vector graphics, I strive for an anime cel look.

The Linux-tans aren't related to the Unices by blood, though they may be related in their philosophies. That is, Linux-tan is Unix-sama's spiritual successor!
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Bella on October 27, 2010, 05:38:37 PM
I like your vector images but as far as comics are concerned, raster is probably a lot quicker to work with. And quicker to work with means more pages for us to appreciate. ^^

Ironically, while the Linux-tans aren't related to the Unices in blood they're far more in line with Unix philosophy than many of the blood Unix-tans.

No, the only of Apple's OSes to be Unix-based are A/UX, Darwin OS and Mac OSX.

The Lisa OS was mainly built from scratch by Apple, influenced by Xerox's Pilot OS, and also shared features with the Apple ///'s OS.

Thanks, like I said, I had an awesome day hanging out at the Apple store and such, so I plowed over my work like it was nothing. That gave me plenty of time to fix up the Family Tree AND sign up here!

I'm glad it gave you story ideas, hopefully I can write a story as well, although my stories tend to never get finished! (or past chapter 1)

good, good boy. -w-

and don't harbor ill will toward 95 for doing what was her job at the time. while she may harbor some resentment toward macs for old battles, she can still be civilized around them and otherwise makes a loving aunt-type figure. ^^

I suppose so,
there are some cute arts out there of her with Mac Tans in em.

mm, my thoughts exactly. ^^ besides, she takes good care of the windows-tans, and though i haven't actually gotten around to DRAWING the second chapter of my os-comiket, in the future of the storyline i'm planning she'll actually ENCOURAGE the budding relationship between kyourou-kun (mac OS9) and ME-tan. <3

To me, it all depends on if Pleiades (System 7) forgives her =P

and yay, comics! <3

I'm not sure. Windows 95 seems like the unforgiving type, but would want her sisters to be happy. :-/

eh, in what i was writing, 95 was FORCED to forgive past grudges by 3.1-sama, the current matriarch of the windows family. 95 seems that she'd be more apt to be friends with system 8 or 9, since they seem to be the least hostile towards windows (and Sonata-san is gentle enough to forgive). as for sys. 7, i never knew much about her, but from what i HAVE seen she seems to take after LISA in personality, meaning that any sort of alliance would probably be achieved by force. However, i'd imagine LISA and 95 would at least be able to have a civil and intricate conversation about battle strategies.

other than that, the neko-macs don't seem TOO hostile toward windows (and the nekomac-kuns do pretty much anything Sonata-san says) so they might be able to strike up SOME sort of friendship with the windows (except maybe Inu-T ^^; ), although i'm unsure as to their individual personalities except for a few details. (btw, anyone ever notice that all the nekomac-kuns are the same type of cat, despite trying to represent different distros?)

huh. all this talk of mac-windows alliance got me thinking: what ever happened to that OS-tan comik about the viruses i was making? :\

And among the other Classic-tans, Mac System 3-tan wants to be friendly towards everyone, but she has a rivalry with ME-tan because they both like OS9-kun. Which is unfortunate because the two can sympathize with each other when not feuding!

I had thought of Mac OS8 being one of the least diplomatic, since she was born during the OS Wars, and she may have been hostile for years. Maybe it was recently she was able to overcome that.

System 6-tan would want to be nice and civil towards everyone, but would act boisterous, as sort of a concealed warning not to mess with the family!

Lisa-tan is not a fighter at all, btw.

Rhapsody-tan is the primary diplomat of the Mac House. OSX Tiger would also be one of the most diplomatic Mac-tans because of hers and XP-tan's experiences in boot camp together.

It's been a long while since you mentioned the virus-tan comic you were making.

I'm almost done with page 5, and will get it up later today. Leopard-tan will show up!

Poor Tiger-tan, she's angry because she was replaced. She had been up to that point the OSX version that was current for the longest time, but still holds the record. No other OSX version has lasted over 2 years.

Thanks! The timing really was good here! :D

@AURORA(happy bells?): OMG, i didn't know the mac family was so diverse in personality!! juicy. you GOTTA give me pics so i can start using them. *w*
OS8 was peaceful based off of pics of her. she's usually a little baby, looking so sweet and innocent.
and LISA always looked so....aggressive? especially since she was such a brat as a kid, and that pic of her with the rifle, and the Mac Mafia pic.....

^In those pics you're referring to, that's System 7.5-tan, though she does look a lot like Lisa-tan (if she had her hair down) or a longer-haired Mac OS9-tan.

the one i was thinking of had the hair down. could have sworn that was lisa, thought the whole hair-swoosh-in-front-of-the-face thing was lisa's. :\

eh, i'd still like to think of lisa as the matriarch.......since she's pretty much the oldest...
Title: Mac Party Redux!
Post by: Aurora Borealis on November 30, 2010, 01:31:03 PM
^Apple II is the oldest, actually, aside from the deceased Apple I of course! Let's just say that Lisa wouldn't be a good matriarch.

too crazy?

maybe she could be the figurehead. :3 she'd like that, i think.

Lisa-tan is melancholy, silent and semi-catatonic --and lives in obscurity--. In her early years she had a lot of pent up bitterness, sadness, loneliness, despair, and maybe even regret for mistreating Mac System 1-tan but could never admit it... but all that built up and an event about 20 years ago pushed her to her breaking point and has never fully recovered since then. :(

But as she is gradually recovering in retirement, maybe the Mac-tans will start to see her as a big sister instead of 'that scary girl Apple II looks after'.

ah, i see. she snapped and is locked away like win 1.0 (though 1.0 didn't snap :\).

so who is the matriarch? :\

Nah, 'cause the Lisa computer is considered a rather obscure pariah even within the Apple community (ditto the Apple ///). Therefor, Lisa wouldn't be looked upon with much respect by later generations.

Apple I-sama and II-tan are far more well-liked and fondly remembered.

^Good question. (oops! Didn't see your post there, Bella!)

Apple II is the matriarch, she took over after Apple I's death. Lisa-tan wasn't locked away, she had left the Apple Family in 1993 along with Apple II, and were two of the co-founders (along with GS/OS, Amiga, Windows 1.0, 2.0 and UNIX as benefactor) of the Binteeji Renmei.
