Well, I'm hooked on RO, and this one game that I am beta testing. Called Supream Destiny. Quite fun.

Oh, and ROSE was some fun for some time too, but it's just too problematic.

But I really can't wait for AutoAssault. That looks like a great MMO

Wah, I have no time or patience for online gaming ;____; *kicks dial-up* My friend plays a free .hack//SIGN based MMO, but I took a peek at it's website, and it didn't really impress me to play...

There is a couple of free private servers such as Ragnarok Top 200 gives a list of ragnarok private servers or any other private server listing website can work. Just look hard enough.

Well, if you let it, online gaming can become a problem. I'm always hearing about EQ addicts...

but, it's only if you let the gaming take over.

Right now I'm in between games.  I was active in the UT2004 scene for some time, but not any more.   Waiting for UT2007 to see if I can revive the interest.

Phantasy Star Universe (don't play a lot)
Final Fantasy XI (don't play a lot anymore, sadly)
Counter-Strike: Source (been playing a lot lately)

These three have been what I've mostly been playing.

Last MMORPG I played was FFXI. Gave up on it just after the 30 day free trial. I had a MNK30, WAR??, WHM??, RNG??, and THF??. I also had a Chocobo named Zero Galaxy. :x
I played RO for about 3-4 years. My highest level character on a low rate server was a 95/99 Super Novice.
My most favorite Online Game would have to be Tales of Eternia Online. JP only to my knowledge. I played it while it was in open-beta. Became P2P in the first week of March 2006.
Other Online Games I've played include: FlyFF, GoonZu, Phantasy Star Online (not Universe), Socom 2 and 3, Arad, and a bunch of others I can't remember the name to.

I've heard of Tales of Eternia Online.

Being a JP only game kinda keeps me away from it.  But I have played Tales of Eternia (Destiny II-US), and am playing Abyss for the second time.

But going back on topic:
I don't play very many online games. To be honest, my last online game was C&C Red Alert 2.  Sad to say that I really suck with RTS games. ehehe ^^;

I loved Planetside before they changed dev teams a while back. I haven't played since then.

Today I'm playing Day of Defeat and original Ghost Recon(co-op only).
I like shooters but do play other genres.

Tomorrow I could be playing FEAR, EVE, or any other game. My preferences shift quickly. I'm usually testing a game at some early stage, too.

Haha! I can't install FEAR, too. My CD key went AWOL. If I ever loose my current installation I'm screwed.

Post by: Xyanide on January 22, 2007, 05:41:45 AM
Fear is awesome yeah, multiplayer is a bit boring but can be fun as passtime. For multiplayer the only game I still play is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, yeah it's old but i don't care it's a really fun and kickass game.

btw if you want to play FEAR multiplayer you can also get FEAR:Combat for free with a CDkey, yes you heard that right it's officially a free game.

My only online fixes are Battle Field 2 modern combat and and Halo 2, on the 360s live.

I would never have uninstalled FEAR but i needed to do  a clean install on my system.  I went to reinstall and put on extraction point.. and i couldnt do it -_- Im debating getting a new copy of the original just so i can play it... maybe I can find a used one

tho that would leave me with 2 cds keys..

Post by: Xyanide on January 22, 2007, 06:08:33 PM
zomg! halo2 sucks so bad! and multiplayer is probably worse

well yeah, or maybe you could just download an ISO of it off the intarwebs and use your CDkey for it, that way you'd still have a valid CDkey to play online :)

Lets see...

Phantasy Star Online I & II (Gamecube) - No longer play due to canceling of the servers.
Phantasy Star Online III (Gamecube) - Same reason as above.
Phantasy Star Blue Brust (PC)  - No longer play cause of reason below.
Phantasy Star Universe (PS2) - I play, I own, I pawn, I kick ass
FlyForFun (PC - Free) - It was cool but got repetitive too quickly for me.
Guild Wars Fractions (PC - Free Online) - I thought it was worth trying but it just never held my interest.
Unreal 2004 (PC - Free Online) - Sometimes you really do need to let off some stress by blowing shit up.
Halo (PC - Free Online) - More blowing shit up just a bit less cussing.
Counter-Strike (PC - Free Online) - A more 'thinking' version of the above.
Starcraft (PC - Free Online) - A classic strategy game, its cheap and old but still tons of fun... if only they hadn't been bastards and banned my account.
Diablo II Expansion (PC - Free Online) - Rarely play only with friends cause of hacking bastards.
Any-Other Half-Life Mod (PC - Free Online) - I like to try new things but when I don't find anything interesting I don't stay.
Any-Other Half-Life 2 Freebie Mod (PC - Free Online) - Same reason as above.
Syphon Filter: Omega Strain (PS2 - Free Online) - Its buggy, its cheap, but then again it was fun cause it was buggy and cheap.
Gunbound (PC - Free) - A turn-based strategy tank game... priceless fun.

Also if anyone else plays any of the above games, I'll be glad to play with you if you ask.

I recommend PSU, simply cause its all co-op online as there is no PvP.  Hence why the series in general is my favorite cause I never had to deal with PvP stuff.

i used to play La Tale, but their freemium model sucked. these days, the only game i've done online with recently is Don't Starve Together.

Well, this is a really old topic ^^;
(Also, interesting to see that ages before I joined, there were people here that played PSO)

As for online games I've played:
- Phantasy Star Online [Various versions across Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, and PC]: Still playing off and on with the Gamecube version, while the private server I was on for Blue Burst shut down earlier this year (I've gone into details in the Games General topic a few months back, I believe)

- MapleStory: Nexon's Windia server is where I am. I haven't played much in a few months, but I still often log in and play for a while when I'm in the mood.

- La Tale: Kari was big into this for a while, although I never really got into it; I never even got a chance to play with her, since she was like 5 towns ahead of me when I started, and before I could catch up, a giant game update rolled in, that was taking forever to download (I have a bad internet connection, if it wasn't obvious). I uninstalled it and haven't played it since :\

- Aura Kingdom: I swear, I play for a bit, then end up not play for months, forget my security PIN, have to request a reset, then I play for a little bit more only for the cycle to repeat :\

- Portal 2: Bella and I teamed up to beat co-op back in summer 2014 :3

- Don't Starve Together: Played it once with Kari and Lego, got screwed by the RNG so I couldn't find any flint or other materials to make tools (All I could do was eat; in sense, it became "Open-World Pac-Man"), and haven't had a chance to give it another shot; it feels promising, even if my first time went very, very badly

i'd like to play DST with just us two, so if we can get to a point where we can have some free time and a decent connection, we should do that. if all else fails, we buy a hub and another ethernet cable, and you, me and Steve play. (i will say, though, you'd have to make the server if we played; my computer isn't hardcore enough to handle hosting a multi-person server)

Maple was nice but it got a bit cut-and-dry, especially with the MASSES of people running around. i'd like to give La Tale another shot at some point, but probably not till after you move.
Title: Re: Online Gaming
Post by: Nichi on October 03, 2015, 10:58:50 AM
TBH, with Maple, I rarely partied up with anyone after a while; the high-leveled players I used to hang out with have long since left the game, which sadly cuts my access to the Party Quests, when I don't really feel like playing with the even higher-leveled snobs that are more interested in getting huge kill streaks vs. just having a good time like my older high-leveled friends :\

there are VERY few MMOs which interest me anyway, and it pisses me off when they put so much emphasis on team play. you really alienate new players that way, since for the large part, we're alone and are too nervous to meet anyone. (or in my case, i just didn't want to after awhile. unless you're stupid close with these people, party members get in the way.)
Title: Re: Online Gaming
Post by: Nichi on October 03, 2015, 01:13:25 PM
Indeed, or sometimes, the high-leveled players are complete assholes that expect you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and refuse to help, as they don't want someone leeching their precious EXP >>;

As far as MMOs, the only new one I have any real interest in is PSO2...but I've basically given up on ever seeing a US release at this point; I think the odds of an official US English release of the Urusei Yatsura adventure game for Sega CD are infinitely more likely at this point.

I'm pretty active on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn but I haven't gotten around to getting the new expansion that came out but I think I'll ask that for Christmas when it rolls around.
I play maplestory every once and a while, I solo most dungeons without issue and I was able to get to around lvl 50 within a week of playing.
I play offline PSO on my dreamcast due to the lack of having a proper setup to support going online, even then I believe the biggest private server shut down some time ago.
