Title: Now Playing...
Post by: Agelu on December 20, 2005, 04:34:38 PM
Well, i thought that a thread like this was needed...

Try to post here what game are you trying to beat up, finish, or archieve "Greater Glory" on it. Also, u can say about the games u play all the time, regardless if u finished it or not...

About me...

Well, i normally play StarCraft, Tomb Raider games and King of Fighters (mostly '99. Yes, on a emulator)

Howeeeever, since my PC crashed, i just play some KOF, im beating Fallout 2 (AWESOME GAME!!), Lemmings '95 (a classic, wouln't played if my main PC crashed) and... pretty much that.

I also finished some days ago Fallout (1), so i started Fall2. I plan to retake and finish more Abandon that i have on my PC, well, at least until i have a more powerful or "capable" one...

What about u guys?

Lately I've been mostly playing Bust-a-Move 3DX. Actually, ever since I got it a bit over year ago, I've only had a couple of short breaks with it.

Football Manager 2005 I also played very much this year, but now I've had about six weeks break. I've been playing the Championship Manager games almost constantly ever since season 1994/1995, and most probably will continue playing with FM2006 after Christmas again.

Another game I've played much this year, is Graduation, an older originally Japanese game where one steps into the boots of a high school teacher, trying to feed his five female students some education to get each of them achieve great academic futures. It's the game closest to the charm of Princess Maker 2 I've ever found.

Then again, I refound the original Siedlers/Settlers/Serf City: Life is Feudal, and played it bloody much with a friend. Same applies to the every-year C64 classics Last Ninja 2, the Great Giana Sisters, Powerplay Hockey and Summer Games II.

Sid Meier's Pirates! and Locomotion have been played pretty much, and would deserve even more attention, if only BAM and FM05 didn't take it all.

One more game that deserves a mention, is the fifth Prince of Persia game: Warrior Within. I couldn't finish it, though, getting stuck in a boss battle at the very end. -_-

Err... Agelu-san, I changed my avatar many times within very few minutes, trying out the possible alternatives for Ikuyo-chi. ^^; Which one you might be referring to?

This goes way off-topic now with me posting pictures of a few of those avatars I tried, but I think I'll create an avatar thread a bit later and move this there then. ;179

edit: Ah yes, the Chinkle one below took me a while to create; had to make it transparent and so on... I'm not an artistic genius. ^^;

;179 (I finally begin to remember this smilie's code)

Ahem, and back to the games topic... ^^; Graduation and Princess Maker 2 (the whole PM series, actually, but the rest aren't available in English) are really worthy games with lots to do.

Dating simulation games on the other hand... hmm, I've not been playing such in a while (Super Ego: Yeah, right.), but Season of Sakura I always found very funny and also not too hentai-like in spite of the few sex scenes eventually. True Love some people consider extremely good and "RPG-like", but in my opinion it doesn't really offer anything so appealing. May Club is a dating simulation at its purest with absolutely no other plot than getting to know with girls, but its setup is pretty interesting, with virtual reality. If one values longer dialogues and somehow dreamy atmosphere, a newer dating sim called Crescendo might be worth trying. Tokimeki Check-In! is another fairly newer title, with some very funny characters but extremely high difficulty level for such a game.

In general I know nothing of dating simulations, and they're not really my cup of tea in the field of gaming; some of them make great fun because of some very witty dialogues (Super Ego: You don't believe that yourself either.).
Title: about these...
Post by: Agelu on December 20, 2005, 05:57:29 PM
I've tried almost all of these, but Season of Sakura was way less hentai oriented (i havent finished fully any of these) so i liked the most. But games like To Heart 2, Pia Carrot, Memories Off... DAMN!! ALL 100% JAPANESE!! Heck, not even a fan subber has worked of these... well, sure, these would need to workout the "code" of the game to make the translations, but i know that if they would want, they would do it.

My favourite game genres are: Strategy, Adventure and RPG

And lately i have been to busy...I cannot even draw a lot, so, playing vg's its out of question...u_u
God bless holidays.
So, i have been playing a few games this holidays, lets see:

...

im too lazy to search in google right now (lazy...or too busy playing Halo)...I'll look later at Dawn of War

Almost finished Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. And playing Lemmings '95 now. DAMN HARD.

Oh ya capt, i'll try DOW if i can
Title: Now Playing...

Hiya again, Agelu-san! ^_^

Lemmings '95... familiar one. ;179

I personally loved the Lemmings 2: the Tribes back when I had an Amiga500 still. I could complete 11 out of the 12 different themes in the game, but the Classic one (mimicking the original levels in Lemmings) turned out to be too difficult. Grrr...

Oh, that reminds me... I'm also playing Syndicate again. Back in 1990s on Amiga, I could conquer most of the regions excluding some African and/or North American levels. The second time I got to play the game, on PC, I managed to complete all those earlier impossible levels, but failed to capture the Atlantic Accelerator. -_- Now, third major campaign going on, but it looks worse than before; I've failed at some earlier easy missions and lost many agents trying to steal new weapon technologies. Grrr... -_-x

I'm playing an older game I have from the gamecube called Tales of Symphonia (love the battle style of the game ^^),  SSX On-Tour, and Metroid    Prime 2: Echoes.  I need to get a job and get some newer games and systems (DS sounds awesome) and save up for the Wii.

To bad I can't download games from limewire on the family computer.  Which is also a reason i dont have my own background at home (at school is the only place to have one).  and my mom doesnt let me do computer games I buysince i go and play alot of that game i loaded onto the computer.  Can't wait to get my own computer.

heh, just try a 2 day non-stop gaming session with your friends.  Thank you Mountain Dew!!

I once did a 36 hour halo 1 marathon with a buddy, from start to finish, eating while we played we went through the entire game on legendary co op.  i think I ingested unsafe amounts of caffine that day.

Anyhow, Update:
I have to many games to play right now!  I should forbid myself buying new games.

For 360, Im playing some Quake 4 (mith of rose, forget Q3, go Q4) for my FPS addiction, still playing oblivion, got some Call of duty 2 going on, and my most recent and most addicting title: DEAD RISING.  one man, one mall, thousands of zombies. it just dosent get any better.  Cchan,  we talked zombies before, this game is it.  You live the zombie movie and have a chance to do it better.   Unlike RE they give you enough zombies to keep in zombie killing action for as long as you can survive.  Anything you find in the mall is a weapon (tho some are damn near useless.. like the glowing toy sword.  it makes cool light effects and makes a nifty electronic woosh woosh sound but it dosent seem to do any damage...) Or perhaps you want to have a zombie costume party... I dressed up 6 zombies with servbot/lego man head masks from Mega Man Legends, then put on a megaman costum and shot them with nerf balls.  oh the zaneyness of it.

On the computer Im playing RO and F.E.A.R.  both of which Kick ass.  RO everyone is familure with.. But F.E.A.R. it seems some are not (i thought they made a big deal about it in the stores but alot of people tell me they havent heard of it)  Its a FPS about a us army agency formed to combat supernatural threats.  yes.  they are ghost busters.  as silly as that sounds, its like Halflife on crack mixed with the ring/grudge.  Its got that high speed ZOMFG that was the coolest firefight ever with a WTF just happened, I need to have a cup of coffee to calm my nerves bits of horror to it.

For example... your creeping along, minding your own buisness, trying to wish the creepy girl that keeps showing up into nonexistance, when you knock over a metal can and you hear someone go "what was that?"  Next thing you know the door near you gets kicked open and 3 genetic soldiers come running out, dive into cover near some boxes and barrels and then lean over  to fire at you keeping most of themselves covered.  you click the reaction time button (your character is known for insane relexes.. its almost like.. bullet time...") everything slows down, you have enough time to toss a grenade behind them and run forward SMG spraying.  your bullets tear up everythign around you filling the air with smoke and spining splinters, tearing huge chunks of plaster from the walls, your muzzel flashes lighting up the smoke and darkness light lightning.  for a moment your world is armmegedon. the grenade goes off, sending shrapnel everywhere, a peice of rebar Impales one soldier to the wall through his chest, another leaping over the box to get away from the explosive is thrown forward, and time is still slow enought for you to swing your rifle butt to meet him in mid air.  Slow mo time runs out, all three guards are dead, but now you are low on ammo, you hear more coming.. its gonna be a bad day.

At other times however, youve been creeping around... without action.. and you keep sing this horrid little girl.. (looks like the one from the ring)  she apears only to turn people inside out, or to freak the shit out of you.  At odd times your radio will crackle and make errie noises that nothing natural makes from a unknown recipiant.. and it often happens when she is near by.  Once.. I was in an empty room, filled with pipes and steam, on a catwalk.  no one around, hadnt heard the radio in a while.  came up to a ladder, swung my leg around onto the rung, rabbed the rails and looked up about to slide down the ladder, and there she was, face to face with me.  If I had had my SMG in hand i would have screamed bloody murder while firing a full mag i was so startled.. but instead of her turning me inside out.. she simply turns to ash and blows away.  i breath, relax, slide down the ladder, turn and there is the enemy commander who has been eating people mouth covered in blood.  that time I did have my SMG out and i did scream bloody murder and let out a long uncontroled unaimed burst.  He too fell apart like ash.. and as the smoke from the chipped plaster and punctured steam pipes cleared i could hear his voice in the wind.. "he deserved to die, they all deserved to die."  Not fair of them to team up on me like that.  normaly they give you a while after they startle you before they do it again...

anyhow, awsome game, looks great on my pretty XPS (still need to draw XPS-tan...)

Of late I've been playing Alter Ego Male (a magnificent live-a-life game originally published on PC in 1986), Europa Universalis 2 and most recently Prince of Persia 1 for SNES. I completed the infernally difficult PoP2 for PC just a week ago after years of frustration, and this week I learnt the famous first game also appeared on SNES (had played it on Amiga and PC) in 1992. As for me, currently playing The New SMB, [What else are you gonna use your DS for? :P ]
Sims 2,
GTA:SA for PC,
old NES stuff,
and old Apple ][ stuff.
Also some good free stuff, such as the insanely tough monkeyball clone, neverball: http://icculus.org/neverball/

Yeah, a bit pathetic, but until the Wii arrives and I get some cash saved, what am I gonna do? :smoke:

It is cool, enough said.  A dot hack game with GOOD game play.  The last ones got a bit repetitive after the first few games but this one looks cool, Vol. 2 is suppose to add new stuff to the battle system, like instant weapon change during special attacks and a few other things that I do not know how to explain.  Its look really cool!  There is a trailer on my previous link, that is a subbed version of the Japanese Trailer.  It was far better then the english one.

I dusted off Oblivion, mostly just to see how it runs on the new gfx card.   But I'm trying to play as something I didn't through my first run, namely a vampire.  But it's a bit of a pain, since I can't go out into the sunlight. (As I want the full vampire benefits. No blood drinking).

I also play a bit of BF1942, since I bought the WWII Anthology edition the other day.

Oh, another Starcraft player! Unfortunately I'm only play UMS (Use Map Settings) maps, because if I want to be even a moderate player in normal gaming, I need to play a lot, and it takes too much time, while UMSes don't require too much skill, these are just for fun, for example defense maps (I like them a lot).

I also played with them because they're humans :D. And I continued using them because...well...I got used to them, and they're the most versatile of all races. Loved the Battlecruiser-Science Vessel combo(plus some Wraiths . In case of enemy dragoons, some tanks) while playing Starcraft. In Brood War I had to change strategy and go Tank-Goliath (plus small force of wraiths, depending of the situation) cause devourers and corsairs rape battlecruisers.
Haven't played in a while, but I still remember shortcuts and everything :D. Should install it again >_>. I hope my b.net account it's still alive <_<

I suck with Zergs. Mediocre with Protoss. Average advanced player with Terrans

At the moment...I'm not really playing a lot as I could, but sometimes:
-America's Army
-Comanche 4

Should install Halo again.

EDIT (2007.01.16.): Nowadays I found an interesting wargame/turn-based strategy called Gadget Trial. I just picked up Lost Planet for the 360.. and it is awsome XD  The exploring of a post apocoliptic ice world filled with insect like aliens that produce a precious life sustaining thermal energy.  You must kill them to survive the freesing temperatures and find a way to save humanity!  One of the best 360 games out so far (and there are getting to be quite a few)

Tho.. while im on that subject...out of the 3 gaming stores Ive been to recently.. all three had PS3s... they cant sell em.  this shortly after its launch date and the demand has already dropped so much that you can just walk into the store and get one.  probobly makes the people that shot or stabbed someone over one on launch day feel pretty stupid.

I haven't seen anything in the PS3 range that makes me want to buy one. Then again same can be said for the Wii (well except Zelda, but I'm not buying a console just for one game). Xbox 360 looks to have some nice games, but not enough to make me want to get one yet. I'm happy enough with my trusty PS2 at the moment :D

The 360 now does everything the PS3 does, but you dont HAVE to have the features you dont want, and if you want them later you can upgrade to them. Alot of the PS3s launch titles are also 360 titles.. so they dont even have many unique games.

As for the Wii.. they may get more games I want for it later... but for now there is nothing.  Heck, I tried the Wii version of zelda.. 10 times harder to control.  Stick to the GC controler, or get the GC version for that one.  Trust me on that one -_-

But then like I said before, I lovez active games.  ^.^

(Also, I try not to keep too many light sources around my friend's TV, else they mess with the sensor configuration and make the wiimote harder to use.  ^^')

Other incredible games I've tried and/or own, and love....  ^___^

- SUPER SWING GOLF [ftw!!!  only hardcore anime game available for westerners at this time.  ^.^]
- Excite Truck [so intense, it actually makes me sweat for some odd reason.... ^^']
- Rampage [extremely underrated]
- Metal Slug Anthology (7 awesome arcade legends for one budget price!)
- Elebits (funny as hell!)  ^v^
- Wii Sports (now proven to make you lose weight...  ^__^)

Can't wait for Wii Play, Mercury Madness and Sonic Secret Rings, among other things.  ^.^

Although actually, I'd rather settle for my own console.  ^^'

Recently, there hasn't been many games that interest me yet that has been released.
Currently, I've been playing a bunch of games I got for the DS:
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All
- Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon (to be released in NA as Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales)
- Children of Mana
- Megaman ZX
- Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
- Trauma Center: Under the Knife
- Final Fantasy III
I got so into Phoenix Wright that I ended up beating both games within a total of 5 days.
I'm also Playing Super Swing Golf (aka Swing Golf Pangya) on the Wii. I've almost unlocked everything (yay for 100% Pangya Shots).
I want to post what games I'm looking forward to on the PS3 and Wii, but my post would probably be too much, and would be going off topic.

I'd love to get a console system but I always end up upgrading my computer instead. The last console I had was the Dreamcast(_skeleton). Very sad.

Half-Life mods provide endless entertainment. I'm looking forward to Ep. 2, as is everyone else that played Ep. 1.

I'm also working on Heroes Journey. It's a really cool MMO. Check it out if you're into that kind of thing.

I still play Ghost Recon co-op. It's much better than the newer "Advanced Warfighter" version.

Drop me a line if you want to play a multiplayer game. I've got quite a few other FPS's lying about.

Hehe,... I've always preferred PC games as well, since you can easily MOD most PC games, whereas consoles themselves are set and stone.  -v-

So before the Wii arrived, what was the point if everything you could've played on a console could more or less be played on a PC as well, only slightly better.  ^__^

Naturally, though, despite it's simple hardware, it's gonna be tough to recreate the Wii experience on a computer, so in a way that's an advantage.

KuroKyosuke, I'm still a novice as far as Super Swing Golf goes, but I'm already past the brief frustration phase that turns most casual gamers and lazy reviewers off, and into the "Ah, so THAT'S how you're supposed to swing this thing" phase.  ^__^
Still keeping mostly to the Free Mode training phase, but having lots of fun doing so,... it won't be long before I'm ready to hit Single Player and start earning some Pang.  ^__^

And talk about fortunate coincidences... -v-

Just hours after i wished I had my own Wii console, I just so happened to have walked into a random, easily-overlooked game shop and found 3 in stock.  ^__^

I returned home with my white box of gold, and an extra Wiimote/Nunchuk pair, and I couldn't have been happier.  ^__^

Now all I need is an Ethernet adapter.... -v-

not to burst your bubble.. but all 5 shops in this area have both ps3s and wiis in stock.   Not a big deal C-Chan...

Actually..  I couldnt dispise that controler more. I will openly weep if you cant play the next metroid game with the standard controller -_- I really hate that thing.. truely.

I still dont think a Wii is worth it.  I mean.. if you take away the novelty of its controler.. its just a game cube.. it lacks the support for High Def and all that.. I really see no need to get it.

And... I wouldnt say moding is easy.. no way no how..  It takes alot of work to make a mod worth a damn.. and it seems like alot of the best looking mods never get done -_- and they can be glitchy.. such a pain.  But I admit, its worth it when you do find a well put togeather mod.

Oh! Loving the 360 controller so much, I round out that you can use the corded version of it with your computer! so I went out and picked one up at the local EB used, downloaded the drivers, and I can now use it with all my favoride PC games!  I can now use it to play all my old roms.. been playing some super metroid, some link to the past, some crono trigger.. Yeah, Dreamcast was a fabulous little system, and I still remember when I confused one of the Madden games on the storefront window with a real American Football broadcast (from afar at least).  ^.^

Sadly, the Dreamcast suffered the same fate as the Amiga -- great system stuck with an idiotic company.  -v-
Anyone who comes up with the Mushroom of Death (aka, 32X) is bound to fail miserably.  ^__^

Oh-hohoho!  Wow!  If you have that many Wiis in little ol' Everett Washington, then please buy them up all, and export them to Canada and Mexico where they're REALLY needed!  ^v^

No but seriously, yesterday's big shipment was lapped up immediately where I live, so I just liken my success to the fact that the game shop I went to was relatively ignored in favor of the larger super stores.  -v-

QuoteActually.. I couldnt dispise that controler more. I will openly weep if you cant play the next metroid game with the standard controller -_- I really hate that thing.. truely.

Well in all fairness, you are right about the Wii being a GameCube 2.  Hardware-wise, it has an amazingly simple arrangement that deviates very little from the gamecube, helping to keep the costs down.  -v-
I for one never owned a GameCube, so perhaps someone who has would find this extremely annoying (although on the plus side, you can easily play GameCube games on this thing).  But I suppose small developers could find this as a blessing, since there's not much difference in the Wii programming from the gamecube's.  I always hated the prospect of small-time developers being displaced due to the higher graphics demands of new consoles -- if all games were required to go the way of Gears of War, sooner or later we'd just end up with one giant game company that'd have the resources to create such games and would monopolize the industry. -.-

As for the controller, I'm not surprised either that a fellow veteran gamer would consider it a mere novelty.  In our lifetime, we've seen the Light Gun, uForce, the Power Glove, the Super Scope, the Menacer, countless steering wheels, Eye Toy, Dance Dance Pad, the Taiko Drum, the Guitar Hero controller, the 360 microphone, etc, etc, etc....
Countless attachments that have helped make our gaming experiences a bit more interactive, but that sooner or later get old really fast.  -v-

But as far as gaming goes, we've also been the "elite" -- the tiny segment of the world's population that has lived with video games nearly all our lives, understood them enough to do more than they were designed to, and had the luxury of switching games and new consoles relatively frequently.  -v-

For the old style gamers, the 360 and PS3 still cater to their generation.
But I can personally attest that the Wii has been phenomenal with non-gamers, who not knowing anything better now view the Wii as this miracle virtual reality machine from the future.

In my house I get lots of visitors and their kids relatively frequently, and roughly thrice that number at my friend's house, which is a veritable hive of activity (especially when the crazy Dominicans stop over).  I've traditionally have had a lot of fun showing the kids how to play Pig Pong (yeah, you read that right.  ^.^), and I don't worry about the adults getting bored with repetitive games because they're the kind of people who've played cards 5 times a day, 6 days a week, 51 weeks a year, for the past 30 years and never get bored with it for some reason.  They're also the kind of people who get unnerved by ultra-realistic graphics, have no computers (except maybe for one of the kids), and think those 300 pound LCD projection TVs are the latest in high definition.

Nearly all of them have tried the Wii (specifically Wii sports) and non have been awful at it.  The controls are simple enough to make them feel empowered enough to play on, and the cheers and excitement that ensue are so riveting, you'd think their favorite team had won the World Cup.  By our own experience, this is probably uncool when an old man who's never touched a game controller in his life beats you at bowling.  But looking at it from a new light, this level playing feel opens new levels of enjoyment (and exercise!) for a far greater number of people.

Not bought 5 months ago, I read a silly article on the BBC that was discussing ways to attract more woman players, and the idiotic ideas the major game companies were coming up with to do so.  But now, by shear twist of fate, woman players outnumber us men at these parties.  ^__^

And besides that, nothing is cuter than watching a 4 year old girl playing the Wii and not entirely suck at it.  -v-

QuoteAnd... I wouldnt say moding is easy.. no way no how.. It takes alot of work to make a mod worth a damn.. and it seems like alot of the best looking mods never get done -_- and they can be glitchy.. such a pain. But I admit, its worth it when you do find a well put togeather mod.

Hehe,... not talking about full-expansion Mods here.  ^__^
Just enough to cheat, or add an Anime character in your games.  ^v^
Or in the case of Command & COnquer: Generals/Zero Hour, to return technology trees to they're rightful place (why the hell would the Chinese in 2030 use bolt-action riflemen?)  O_o

QuoteOh! Well aside from TurboGrafix games, I too have no interest in the Virtual Console cause I already know how to get ROMs, -v-

But again I reiterate....

The iPod sucks compared to more practical mp3 players, but because it caters to barely computer-literate people, it's been able to dominate the market with uber-convenient music downloads.

The same might fly for the Wii, because the Virtual Console is also designed to be uber convenient (assuming the user is interested in old games, or knows how and WANTS to connect the Wii to the internet to begin with).

Besides, the hardcore users have already figured out how to get an awful lot of mileage off the Wii (aside from interactive pr0n), and have been able to connect the Wii to their PCs to play music collections, video collections, applications, etc, etc...
It won't be long before they start doing home-brewed ROM emulation on the Wii at this rate, and more so if the user base explodes.  -v-

The wiis claim to exersize is the same as that of DDR. Very limited at best.. hell alot of gamers get that range of motion from internet fapping.   The Wii should never be concidered a true from of exersize, but i admit it does make people more active.

As for catering to the ...non gamers.. I soppose that would be good for nintento.. since hardecore gamers have slowly been leaving them for years due to the shortage of mature games on their systems.  I still love nintento and their games.. but short of resident evil and metal gear, they dont get much in the way of mature games anymore.  But frankly, from my point of view, I feel abandoned.  I think it will only speed the process of "elite" gamers leaving.  We used to play the NES when we were kids, but now we are grown, we have HD widescreen TVs, surround sound systems, and plenty of money for the best toys out there.. and the wii falls short of that expectation.. novelty controler not wistanding.  Once that controller wares off on you... your left with a second game cube, thats less cube.  Short of EBS offer to give you 50 off your wii in exchange for your old cube... i cant warrent spending the money on it.  Hell they probobly could have made an attachment for the cube for that controller.

as for the streeming of to play music and video.. the 360 does that as well.  As for the vitual system.. i spent the last few days prusing the live Arcade.. and its pretty bad ass.. but what makes the difference.. is the original content.  its got some ports.. and they really arnt worth the money to download. But the original games for it are pretty sweet, and they just increesed the size cap for them so developers can make larger better original content.   Im not sure how the wii is set up, but you can download demos of all those games before you buy them so you know if you want them.  Its alowed me to get several very good arcade came and I havent bought a single one that ive regretted.

Xbox Live also now has downloadable HD movies.  They are coming out with a redesinged 360 soon, with a quieter processor and a 120 gig hard drive.. things are looking up for it.

Yay, we're now in perfect agreement then.  ^__^
Granted, in some recent study conducted, active games similar to the Wii burnt several times more calories than traditional game play or watching TV, but DDR still burned even MORE calories than that!  ^__^

So DDR is still king among quasi-exercise games -- I just stopped doing that to save my wood floors.... -v-'

I suppose I know what you mean about feeling abandoned -- no doubt the Sega fanboys felt the same way when the company ditched them altogether.  But as you say, the bird's gotta leave the nest some day.... -v-

Think of it this way,... variety is key, and even if the Wii is as wildly successful as I think it'll be, it's the responsibility of 360/PS3 gamers to hold a niche market.  Monopolies are never good no matter how good they may seem,....  -v-

Take for instance this story....

Back in American 1950's, greasy-spoon diners were the norm, and attracted every kind of rowdy teenager thanks to hot waitresses on skateboards.  Great food and awesome chicks worked for these kids and earned these diners millions, but this completely turned off families who insisted therefore on eating at home.

Then came an ingenious entrepeneur named McDonald's, who established a systematic restaurant that could prepare food very quickly with minimal training, and also kept the restaurants nice and clean and smut free.  Whereas the rowdy teenagers made fun of these "McDonald's" and went back to oggling more boobs on skates, families brought themselves and their kids to these new restaurants in DROVES.

As you know, 50 years later, its McDonald's that's now the evil fast food empire, and those diners (minus the boobs on skates) that are the underdogs.  But although most of those teenagers had to eventually give in once they had families of their own, they still prevented ALL restaurants from turning into fast food joints.

Had history progressed otherwise, I'm sure 300lbs would be the average weight for Americans by now.  ^^'

QuoteXbox Live also now has downloadable HD movies. They are coming out with a redesinged 360 soon, with a quieter processor and a 120 gig hard drive.. things are looking up for it.

I hear that thing needs a quieter processor.  ^__^
Too bad they can't do anything about the power brick,.... -v-

But then on the bright side,... the PS3 doesn't have one and it still sucks.  ^__^
Title: Now Playing...
Post by: CaptBrenden on January 22, 2007, 06:10:30 PM
yes.. it does have a powerbrick, but i dont see it.. at all. why? cus it sits behind the TV stand like the rest of the cords.  problem solved.

but i fail to see how mcdonalds becoming an evil empire that makes americans fat proves that evil empires are good..

but with the way things are going.. apperently the 360 has the responsibility to support the the nitch gamers since the ps3 is failing...

while I do like the wii, I don't have anything against the ps3 or 360... I'm rather open minded.  The price tag for either is keeping me from getting them tho.  I don't have a job, and they don't pay me to be a student. heh Still, I'd like to see if allowing user-generated content for the ps3 can get us some good stuff. ^^

My family was going to get a Wii but they were sold out and the controllers are confusing. And I don't want to run the risk of a colossal ***-whooping if I end up chucking the controller at the TV! -__- (are the controller straps required now, btw?)

I'm not too keen on the console wars, but I'd have to side with the Wii   because I feel most familiar with the Nintendo games and consoles.

Don't worry,... just visit the Captain!  ^v^
All his stores around him have them in stock.  ^.^

When you do get it, let me know so i can guide you through the controllers.  They only sound confusing because it's an odd configuration (nunchuk?), but it becomes second-hand very quickly once you use it.  ^.^

All the new Wiis and Wiimotes come with the new strap now -- and even if you don't have to wear it always (say for Excite Truck), it's probably better if you get into the habit.  ^^'
Cause even if you don't throw it at your expensive HD tv, you can still drop it and scratch-up that silky-white coating.  ^.^

Gears made me bored to fast.. it was a good game but i cant take much of it in one sitting.  Its the same thing every encounter.. dive into cover.. manuver to flank the oponent, kill him, do it to the next.  its a legitimate strategy in real warfare, but in a videogame its gets a little boring sometimes.

I like original ghost recon partly because it's one of the few games where supressing fire can have an effect. One shot usually puts you out of comission so people play a lot more cautiously. Maintaining fire on an area will usually keep people from poking their heads out. The various weapons have realistic strengths and weaknesses, too. Good open-area field rifles become clumsy and slow in FIBUA.

sadly, you'll be getting pissed off at Night Terror as an end-boss and Nightmare for being weak in this game. Zasalemel is a bit cheap, and Abyss is even cheaper.

of course, before you touch the "Chronicles of the Sword" mode, make sure you've already gotten the SWORD MASTER class unlocked and bought, and then you'll want to make your main character a SM (for the variety of weapons).

Been playing Half-Life 2, and I have to say that It's an awesome game. The physics engine...wow, never seen anything like that. Yet, I have been playing this at the lowest video settings due to my cheap videocard ;_;

Intel sucks
....

And discovered Gadget Trial (A google search for more information about it lead me to this  thread!! I think It was posted back in page 6 or somewhere). Similar to Advance Wars, but instead of using mini armies, you're using human-machine hybrid weapons that are suposed to be much more compact and powerful than an standard army (hell, one artillery unit is suposed to be able to destroy and entire brigade of conventional tanks...). Mecha-musume in other words.
(http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/6673/shot8co4.th.jpg) (http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot8co4.jpg)

The game it's pretty entertaining, and has full voiced dialogues (japanese, obviously, but text is already translated). The dialogues are funny

I lol'd specially at this line:
"---It's no good! Half her head is missing!~" Izen (one of the many clones...), after being shot by an artillery strike

mmm...Moé and deadly....

Surely, the captain will dislike this

Indeed, mecha musume is awesome (except the Heavy tank from the continental army...).

Am I the only one who's in the situation where Souka hogs almost all the experience points, and barely manage to get points for Yu-ri (lol, Suiseiseiki VA) and Hisoka?

ohohoho! another Gadget trial fan!!

Indeed, mecha musume is awesome (except the Heavy tank from the continental army...).
I'm still playing the campaign (after the giant battleship level, when the heavy tanks appear)
Am I the only one who's in the situation where Souka hogs almost all the experience points, and barely manage to get points for Yu-ri (lol, Suiseiseiki VA) and Hisoka?

uh?! multiplayer?!! That'd make this game perfect...

Well, I was the one who mentioned this game first on this board :D  Continental Army is really ugly. They don't even use the E-series units! And no, bombers really kill a lot, when artillery units (and navy) gets only a few XP. I already bought all suits for aircraft (and one is missing for tanks)!  I'm the only who thinks battleship suits are not that good?

Long range artillery and naval forces are underrated...and underpowered =/
I have all the suits (ehem..."upgrades") for Infantry, Tanks and Aircraft. And 60 points for infantry, 46 for tanks and...122 for aircraft!.
Infantry is really useful, and Tanks were once the main force, but I traded mobility in exchange of higher defense and firepower, so they remain more as a defensive force than as the spearhead of the army. Bombers, bringing the fastest way to obliterate the enemy forces, always hog the most points -_-.

Only 2 suits for Artillery (longer range for both rocket artillery and AAA), and just 1 for Naval (Hard suit for submarines). Submarines without upgrades are too weak, and if you upgrade them with the hard suit, then they become terribly slow. And long range artillery...its hard to get the enemy in range to fire, and even when in range, they can't do a one shot kill.

It seems the real weapon of mass destruction is Souka after all :D

I hate games that get the balancing wroung.  Naval guns and artillary are some of the most potent weapons on the battle feild.. I guess game developers dont understand or appricaiate that.

Indeed, that was a great mistake. But on the other hand, you can't deny that air bombing is really powerful, specially if you take in count that its more accurate (obviously, talking about laser guided bombs) than artillery strikes (except the MLRS, which can be as accurate as a guided bomb/missile).
tl:dr
Yeah, the developers made a huge mistake. Bombers are powerful, but so is artillery.

I liked more the unit balance in Advance Wars 2 (even when I felt that battleship strikes could be more powerful, taking in count the massive cannons that those things had).

Yes, put some AA Artilleries and SP Rocket Artilleries (+1 scout because of sight ), and almost no one can go near you! You only need to care about energy... Yes, the game is not completely balanced, but if we count similar games to PC... (not GBA or other consoles). I'm also using the "heavy" tanks - what is it's name? When I have a bit more time, I'm continue the campaign...

I dont normaly like fighting games but I enjoy DOA. especialy the newest one, cut I get to play as a female spartan :D

Yeah, my specilty was indirect fire such as mortars and artillary, but the same skills are used for calling in air strikes and naval guns.  They can be very accurate if the caller is good. the gun crews just put in data and fire what is called.  I dont even think you can fire artillary directly (you can with mortars) but i think the minimum range  for arty prevents it.      Still, a target as big as a truck can be hit directly with a 120 howitzer, so its pretty accurate.  Plus, artillary fires in barages normaly, so they pound the whole area so accuracy really isnt so imporatnt... its pretty indescriminate that way.. dont call it if friendlies are there and so on.

now playing Gears of War! and its worth the hype! this game is the shit!  I had a buddy over yesterday to play co op on it, and he had a PS3 (just returned it because he was unhappy with it)  and he loved it as well, saying it looked better then anything he had played on the PS3 including resitance of man.. their key title. Go 360!

Bad ass game, stresses beign smart in combat rather then run and gun. The controls take some getting used to but you pick them up fast and when you do its a blast to play.  The gameplay is kept interesting and your always having to find new ways to solve the problems presented to you, and its a great party game. We were doing a house warming and the co op controlers just kept getting passed around, kept us all interested for a long while.  Hell we would have kept plaing but the wives kept dragging people home

We have front line experience!  ;010
Indeed, artillery can be really accurate, But if we're talking about a moving target (like a tank), *I think * a missile or a GBU bomb (well...maybe with current bombs that would be overkill...) would do the job better than an artillery barrage (and a portable antitank missile would do the job better than an air strike, in terms of collateral damage and availability). Less collateral damage.

But hell, we are talking about a different topic now  ;026

Still playing Gadget trial. only 5 more missions. Oh noes!!! The Continental Army strikes back!

Yes, Megamari is great! It uses a lot of things from the original Megaman games (even some special weapons and bosses are similar), has good music, and it's not easy! I started with Reimu's stage (be sure filling both characters' HP before the boss fight with a little cheat (coming up and down in a ladder, kills enemies, pick up life) ), then go to Remilia, Sakuya, and I had problems with Youmu (I can't finish her with Thousand Knives, and normal weapons don't damage her too much...) Tip: I think, sometimes body contact doesn't do that much damage to you than boss attacks (for example, Reimu's Yin-Yang Balls do bigger damage then a contact with her).

BWAHAHAHAHAH ive finally got F.E.A.R. Extraction Point working!!!  T_T and I took a little bite out of wallmart at the same time.  My original games disk 2 was messed up and it wouldnt install, and ive been trying forever to find a torrent of it.. but most move slower then snail shit on mollasas on a cold day in rush hour traffic, and mostlikely come with viruses and such, so instead of doing that I decided to just buy it again from wallmart, swap disc 2, and return it so they can send it back to the manufacture for credit.  No harm no foul, they lose no money but they have do deal with the manufacture instead of me to get a replacement disc.

and now I am able to play Extraction point! GAWD I love FEAR!  Ive been looking forward to this forever!  Anyone that had not played it, go out and get it right now T_T they now have a gold edition that comes with the expansion pack.

For those that dont know what FEAR is, its a PC/XBOX 360 FPS.  You play a new recruit in F.E.A.R. or First Encounter Assault Recon, a special ops group part of the US Army formed to fight paranormal threats to national secutrity.   A weapons technology company was developing an army of replica(clone) soldiers that respond to a psycic commander.. but the commander went insane and took them all with him.  Your first feild op is to go in and take out the commander, which will "shut down" the clones.  But this is easier said then done as a little girl (ala the ring/grudge style) begins appearing all over the place and starts turning people inside out.

SPOILER ALERT

As your mission progreses you learn that the clones and their commander seem to have been created from this.. little girl who had ... powers.   Obviosly they didnt learn from the ring, if a little japanese looking girl can do shit with herr mind... DONT DO FUCKED UP SHIT TO HER  cus it will just end up as one of those unstopable curses T_T  however.. for some reason you, and only you, keep seeing her and the the replica commander in visions.. and as you delve deeper its never directly said.. but it seems that you too are one of them... possibly the prototype commander, which is why your all super fast and can see dead people.

The first game ends open, with you destroying the facility Alma (the little girl) was being held in, in one of the coolest explosions in video game history (imagin standing on a dusty street, watching a mushroom cloud in the distance and the quickly approaching blast wave destorying buildings and tossing cars through the air as it heads right at you...)  You survive the explosion, get picked up by the extraction helicopter and as your flying away, one of your team asks... "what happened to Alma?"  And thats about the time she reaches up from the skid and climbs into the helo grudge style and the screen goes black...

END SPOILERS

Acording to the back of the box,  the helo goes down and you must reach the extraction point, battling past the replica soldiers, now with supernatural baddies!    Ive just started, but it just recapped that wonderfull explosion scean (tho not in its entierty) and the entering of Alma on the helo, and you start the game coming too in the firey wreck in an abandoned part of town.

Im gonna go play some.. but I am so freaking geeked about being able to play this FINALY (i bought it MONTHS ago, but have been unable to play...)  Im probobly gonna give updates :D

Added after 4 minutes:

JEBUS! XD gawd I love this game, 5 minutes into the game and ive already got startled enough to fall backwards in my chair!  T_T if you ever thought that the ring, ringu, or the grudge were scary,  its 10 times worse when your imersed in a game and the creepy little girl is after you...  *twitch twitch*

Recently... I've been flipping between... MUGEN and Flyff on my PC, and occasionally Kingdom Hearts 2 on my PS2 because I've never beat it and it's borrowed... so I'll have to return it eventually. I prefer playing games on the computer, probably because the mouse allows you be more in control in FPS games... but neither MUGEN nor Flyff are FPS. Regardless I still like playing on the PC more, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying my PS2 and XBox.

So I bought an XBox 360, I am very happy with it. All I have to do now is to find a way to get Xbox live working.
The only game bought for it was Samurai Warriors 2 my friend is playing it right now. I'm here waiting for my turn.

Post by: CaptBrenden on July 09, 2007, 10:40:46 AM
Humm.. the only time the ring on mine went red is when it got the incorrect voltage in Iraq... Im suprized i didnt fry it actually.  the power brick still smells funny...

anyhow, I was at best buy the other day picking up Rozen Maidendisc one and I floated by the pc games see if they had any deals.  Found first to fight and starship troopers in a 2 pack for 20 bucks, so I thought Id get it.

... i think starship troopers could be the worst FPS ever produced.  i think i killed alittle of myself just attempting to play it.  Besides graphics from a long forgotten age, it uses horrible quality ripped videos from the movies for its cut sceans.  The npcs just spout random movie lines, and worst of all is the controls.  i mean.. ive got one of the fastest machines Ive ever used, and there is a noteable delay after you push a movement button before you move, if you move at all, and then when you do move you seem to move in units. tap the forward button and he will take like 6 steps forward everytime. the NPCS move more fluid then you!  Level design is horrible, and to top it off, but the end of the first level the gameplay was stale.  Seriosly i used to think that a starship troopers game would be fun, then it relized.. there are so many enemys you dont even have to aim. just hold down the trigger and sweep the cross hairs back and forth.  there is no skill in it, just get as many rounds as you can down range. heck instead of giving you a melee buttong or pistol as your back up, they gave you a weak short range submachine gun with unlimited amo because of how many rounds you have to put down range.

Im still trying First To Fight.  Just like americas army, it was designed and developed my the USMC to be an acurate real to life shooter. So far, I feel they have acomplished that.. to some level.  There is still a degree of the game that made it feel like it was made by the smallest bidder (its the military way!) so graphics and animation are still a bit... off.  Though the game is a few years old... it was released on the xbox after all.  However im impressed on the AI in it.  Not a shooter for doom type fans.  You move a slow realistic pace, with your 3 team mates.  Just like a real USMC fireteam you travel with 4 men, fire team leader (you) with m16a4 and 203, a automatic rifleman with M249 saw, and then two more marines with M16s.  as you move at the head the other marines will move with you covering all directions. for the most part they dont need orders of any kind to properly position themselves and cover their teamates.  you can give a few orders, such as supress a cirtain target, hold position and such like that, but they are pretty smart and do what you would have to tell NPCs to do in other games.  Heck when you stack on a room ready to make entry they adjust to where ever you go into the room or stack in the column to cover as much of the room as possible.  its got great AI, at least for teamates, it just suffers the downfalls of a game with a small budget. no mega millions to polish it up..

God bless Internet game reviews :D
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/starshiptroopers/index.html

A Starship Troopers RTS would rule, though. The only problem is that I'd be awfully similar to Starcraft (except for the lack of Protoss. Skinnies aren't anywhere near their level).

...
So I got Vista and got Halo 2 borrowed from a friend (lol, in exchange, I gave him Halo: combat Evolved for a whole month).
And this is what I got:
(http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5210/failpc1.th.jpg) (http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/5210/failpc1.jpg)
WTF MAN, WTF?!
I know, my video card it's not the best, but It met the minimum requirements of memory, 3D acc and Pixel Shader...Should at least be running on low settings. My old PC could run Half Life 2 on low settings, this laptop  runs Half Life 2 in mid-low settings without problems.
Then I went to play Halo 2 at my friends house, and the graphics were not bad, but they were WORST than Half life 2 on my PC...

wtf with the requirements? WTF?!

better to run it on low settings than not running it at all T_T

Actually, I ran Halo 1 on the lowest settings the first time I got it. My video card lacked the hardware, but compensated using software and lots of RAM. Now I can run it on the highest settings...but Halo 2 won't let me do the same -_-

Haha XD I usually go to the E4 and re-battle them over and over again. Which I'm in no position for losing with my lvl. 100 Blaziken and lvl. 100 Altaria that I raised last year ^_^

Trust me, I'm not giving up on Starmie! I've been raising since it was a Staryu at lvl. 26. It's also one of my favourite Pokemon and yet it just randomly gets shoved in the PC unlike LG where everytime I get one, I start training it like no tomorrow. That's a crime. ;o;

Once Starmie is done, I've got a whole list to go! Here's the list (not in order):

- Gardevoir
- Dewgong
- Hitmonchan
- Hitmonlee
- Breloom (<-- <3)
- Espeaon (It's lvl. 94 so maybe I'll do him first... Also, It's traded)
- Hariyama (Still debating...)

I finished Enchanted Arms, finally. I would have finished in 40 hours if it wouldn't have been for the very hard bosses in the end, and yes you read it right bosses as in many, 5 in a bloody row, all of my characters finished their VP after the first battle so I had to level up a bit.

But I also started playing Call of Duty 3 the other day, and I find it only to look good, the dingle player campaign was far to easy, and thus not so fun to play. But it's OK for XBox live.

The question is, Nejin-san, where did you get the game? From what I can tell, it is not a free game, so unless it requires a registration key, or is a demo, it is pirated, ne?

I've started FF7... again :p I've actually lost count of how many times I've played the game, and I still love it. Currently about halfway through disc 2.

Occasionally playing my fav strategy game Alpha Centauri too. For those who don't know, Alpha Centauri is a turn-based strategy game based on the Civ engine and made by the same team. I heartily recommend it to anyone who is into strategy games :D

GAWD this is AWSOME! Limited due to the PSP lack of buttons and second anolog stick but its the metal gear action ive been craving!  On top of that, you can now capture soldiers and they have differnt abilities that help you out.  they are like pokemanz.

MY POKETROOPS! LET ME SHOW YOU THEM!

QuoteWas a biotch getting up and running, but then, it's an EA game...

HAHAHAA that is a complaint for PC gamers!

I got Condemed: Criminal Origins, and Prey for the x-box 360 at a pawn shop the other day.  Havent played prey yet but ive played condemed quite a bit.

Its bum fights, the video game!

Well maybe not, cant call it that if you the payer arnt a bum but an FBI agent, but still exept for that fact thats pretty much what it is.  It has the ocassional "crime scean investogator" bits where you simply press a button and it pulls out what ever tool you need to do what ever forensic work you need done. No thinking nessicary... and then bam~! next thing you know your alone fighting bums crazys and such.

You wander around differnt condemed/abandoned buildings or facilities, tracking a serial killer, while running into a veritable army of crazy homeless people using what ever happens to be laying around as a weapon.  Seriosly, like whatever you find.  From boards with nails or bolts, maybe fire, to differnt types of pipes, desk drawers, sledge hammer, fire axe, shovel, crowbar, rebar possibly bent or with concreat on it...

Yeah sure there are guns laying around, but why bother with those when you can mercilessly kill them with blunt objects? Its not like your an FBI agent or anything..

wait.. OH SHI-

Fire arms are available but are provided in a way that their usefulness is extreamly limited. First and formost, you cant carry extra ammo, and you cant reload.   Tho they provided a convenient check ammo button where the player will remove the magazine or whatever to see how many rounds are in it, which is important, because most likely they wont be fully loaded when you find them.  Hell your lucky if you find them with more then half their total capacity.  "yay I found a machine gun! ... its got 3 rounds...fark."

Of course once its empty he either spins it around to pistol whip or bludgen them with, or just carelessly tosses it aside for whatever crazy wants it.  Oh, and they CAN reload.

Dispite not having any spare ammo for his hand gun, this FBI agent has a tazer gun with unlimited cartriges. Sure its a less then lethal force meathod, but since we arnt interested in arresting these people instead, lets taz them and then pulverize their head with a sledge hammer or take their weapon to beat them with.

However, dispite all that, the game is adictive and fun to play. Story and sence, who needs it when you can beat up bums??

Nyahan! ^-^ I'm still playing Pokemon XD once in a while, just because it's the only decently new pokemon game that I have on an actual cartridge/disk. Well, ok, i DO have Sapphire, but i don't have anything to play it on except an old half-deaded GBA that forces you to mash your fingers on the buttons every single time you want to walk left.

Added after 37 seconds:

Also practicing my Super Smash Bros Melee skills, since that's very important when you're on conventions. Just one week left... o_o

So Ive taken a break from Half Life 2 to play dead rising again (got the zombie itch i needed to scratch) exept this time I did the missions intead of wasting time :P I dont know why I didnt seriously get into that game when it first came out, but ive been playing it nearly non stop the last few days ._.

I cant begin to describe the awsomeness of that game.  It is the zombie lovers DREAM.  And i mean people that love to kill them, not just love the.  the sick necrophiles can just stay away from this game.

Anyhow.. 3 days, 1 mall, 53,594 zombies (well, more but thats the official population of the town.)  Kill zombies, save people, get the scoop, solve the mystery, make it back to the helecopter by noon on the final day.  Beyond that, its all fair game.  How cool is that?  Everything is a weapon, and there can be hundreds of active zombies on the screen at one time, enough closely packed togeather that you can walk across them.  Woo zombie road!

This game manages to pack every zombie movie stereotype into one game and does it flawlessly.  For the zombie movie freak, if you dont have this game, you fail. period.
