@Leaf: How much storage does it have? I used to have an iPod Touch that only had 8GB :\

@Kari: Indeed. I suppose part of how I was able to squeeze by with a passing score was likely due to the Algebra for Dummies book I have -w-;

Although, a comic to help go over the basics would be cool; sort of like if Cyberchase was a comic
...and my thoughts drift to the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids for no reason >w>;

Mine's 8GB. If I could, I would've got something bigger but that was the only version available from my carrier.

Oh no. But I am prone to losing track of time to the point where I get uncomfortable when there's no clock. That's why my dad needs to be up. Thankfully, my brother got up at the right time so that I didn't.

And yes, I am posting from school. I am doing it during second period (the teacher doesn't give a shit) and lunch (where we can have phones out). Sometimes I post during my final period of the day because the teacher doesn't take phones away.

Also my new phone has like 6 gigs. My old one barely had a gig, however, so I won't complain at all.

Chocofreak13

@leaf: eh, it's still something. that was how big Gothpod was.
@kodomo: ahh. as long as you're not interrupting shit. -w-;

Honestly, as long as you do it correctly, using your phone in class is not as risky as it could be.

For the most part, doing it correctly means not using it at all, but if the teacher doesn't appear to give a shit, and the teacher isn't teaching, and I'm done with any work for that period, then I use my phone for internet stuff.

At lunch though, everyone can use their phones for whatever. Same with study halls.

Chocofreak13

fair enough. but it was always a pet peeve of mine to see students using them in class, particularly when the teacher was lecturing and then they wondered aloud why they were doing so shitty in the class. >>;;;

(got even worse in college, since it's like, you're PAYING to be here. why the FUCK are you on youtube!? )

Well, I'm in primarily college-level classes, so it's not something I see particularly often, but I have yet to feel sympathy for those who do get their phones confiscated because they were using the phone irresponsibly (which all the time so far, that's been the case, partially because responsible use includes not getting it confiscated).

And I can definitely see why that bothers you at the college level. I either have payed or will pay for all but one of those college-level classes, and that's only because the school pays for AP Math and Science exams (I'm taking an AP English class and I know the school doesn't pay for it, neither did it pay for my AP World History exam last year). I have to get as much education out of these classes as I can so that my college experiences will be cheaper.

Well, that final class period is a college class, but I only use my phone if there's free time. If there isn't, then I don't use my phone.

Haha, yeah, I remember those books showing up at the local Kinokuniya a few years back.
A great intro to the stuff. My books (Calculus opened to a manga page): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7r1UHALF35IYllCaVVsNTRRQW8/edit?usp=sharing

If you want something a little heavier, the Math Girls novel series is awesome:

Don't mind too much if the equations and stuff go over your head (even I didn't understand everything), but the story should give you a general gist of the the concept, and that was enough to enjoy it.

oh, kickass, man! thanks!

how are the others, btw? informative enough? i have the statistics book and i loaned it to my sister, who loaned it to her teacher, who said that it's a good cursory overview but not sure if it's college-level.

@kodomo: kickass to you too, man! that's seriously awesome that you're in all that and cramming all the knowledge in that you can right now. keep at it, and good luck! (also, what's the college class you're in?)

i think i'm on an upswing today and i am digging it. haven't been this pumped for the future in awhile. i think i want to go for a doctorate degree. >:3

What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

They generally just cover the basics of the thing. Enough to give you a good overall understanding, but probably not enough to solve that challenge problem your professor gives just to fuck with your homework time. Some are definitely more in-depth than others, but unless you're completely lost, I don't see them being much help other than helping to remember the basic concepts.

Math Girls does reach some pretty high level stuff, but a good chunk are interesting math things that you won't often be able to apply to actual schoolwork (interesting patterns, etc.). However, one of the characters, Tetra, is a math novice and eager to learn, so they use her to explain the basic building blocks (this should help with school-type work more than the manga guides). Super-smart girl Miruka is the one that breaks your brain after the Tetra sequence.
