 :) I'm a christian. Specifically Evangelist. :)

I know that the usual stereo type for Christians is that we are critical and judgmental, but we are not suppose to be. The fact is that we are human, and that makes it easy to judge. But if you have ever read the bible it says, love your enemy's as yourself and if you judge you will be judged. These are actually two separate verses but you get the point.

It's not our place to judge, are only job in life is to help one another, NOT condemn.
And we Christians often forget that.

We cant take the splinter out of the friend eye without taking the 2 by 4 out of our own.
And mine is pretty lodged in there.

You wont see me judging any of you, it's not my place to and I've no room to.

And another thing, why is it that for most major organizations (whether religious or not) we have the idiot speaking for the masses? The most out there, the most condemning and the one who most often sticks his/her foot in mouth.
Simon was here :P

@Kari: The cousin in question is on my dad's side, so it's not as bad at least. They're accepting of him.
Also, while I was in fact baptized, I'm similar to you in the fact I ignore some of the teachings now (A few things I did like, such as aspects of the ten commandments, have stuck around to form my personal "code of honor")

@Pit: You're a Mormon? I never really knew much about them aside from them being just as demonized as pagans and Buddhists in the church I used to go to. Interesting to know, if I ever wanted to ask more about it :3

@Simon: True that, man. It felt like a majority of the people in the church I used to go to forgot that bit entirely :\

my reaction to this serious bidness discussion

Maybe we should start a religion thread because it seems to be such a hot topic
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

I invite those interested to take a second look at my post before.

*goes take a look*

Yep, a second look. ;) I'm really neither an authority nor a database for mormonism. The only mormon I know is a great friend, though we talk very rarely these days.

it's a good Idea, a religion topic so the long winded speeches don't cloud up here

Nichi

@topic on hot button topics: I guess maybe it's a good idea, as long as everyone stays respectful

Well, on a note unrelated to religion, politics, or who was the better host of Mystery Science Theater 3000, I shipped out Bella's birthday gift this morning ^^

alfonso_rd_30

good for you...
well off to see if I have work today...

Chocofreak13

i only started the religion topic as a passing fancy. if people want to have serious discussions on religion and such, feel free to make a topic, and i'll take part.

@nej: that was interesting, thanks for posting it. :0
@simon: i'm not gonna lie, i flinched when i read that. but it was more out of reflex, i always took evangelists as some of the more vocal/radical of the christian faiths. you don't strike me as particularly preachy or savey-your-souly, so i get the feeling we can coexist nicely.
though i'm curious, what sets evangelists apart from other christian groups? (also, while "love thy enemy" is in the bible, i don't like to consider myself an enemy. and just because i feel like saying it, i use the "do not judge lest you be judged" line quite a bit. -w- )

@pit: so you were serious when you said you're a mormon? woah. :0
@pent: i've never understood the christian/catholic/jewish/etc's dislike/hatred of mormons. i mean, they worship the same god. just because they have more conservative views on women and different ideas on family and religon is no reason to demonize them. if anything, i'd like to demonize those who demonize others without fully understanding them. yes, i'm a witch. no, i'm not a bad person.
@leaf: honestly, i'm surprised. but are you committed to it?

Choco, take a third look. It's an old trick here, I thought it'd be seen immediately. ^^;

Chocofreak13

did you add that after? xD

also, just for the record, i didn't realize a religion topic had already been created when i wrote that. ^^;

Well to me the Evangelists are more loving to one another, and understanding. Plus more fun.
That's been my personal experience.
The only reason that I haven't said anything is because nobody asked.
And about the enemy part, if we are suppose to love our enemys, why not the neutrals even more
Simon was here :P

Chocofreak13

you have a good point there. xD
can you cite examples of the "more loving/understanding/fun" part? cause just saying it makes it hard to visualize. after all, plenty of christian faiths emphasize "love" and "understanding" as part of their tenants, and then they go around and try to convert everyone in sight. :\
