That Copland-tan is beautiful! Very beautiful! ;019 But I think she'd be better suited as Taligent-tan though (for the reason I stated earlier)

C-Chan

Copland?!!  Where, where?!!  Hope I don't get busted,.... @__@

*hides*

.
.
.
.

*checks Wikipedia*  Oh, wait, you mean THAT Copland..... ^v^
Never mind, and forget I said anything about being busted, cause this pig is 100% clean.

*kicks swill out of view*

Honest... would I lie....  ^.^

In any case, I'm happy to say I'm back! ^v^
And after siphoning off about 300 cubic meters of floodwater, I'm happy to see that gorgeous pink beauty welcoming me back.  ^___^

Sorry I didn't know anything about her before, especially after declaring Newton and A/UX as the last "Apple-tans" rendered,... truly, they deserve as much respresentation as Neptune or Odyssey.  ^v^

And hey!  Do I see what I see?  TEARS!!!!!!  ^V^
An excellent job at that, too,... the artwork is so subtle, it blends beautifully with the severity of her emotions.  ^.^

Now I really can't wait to see Taligent.  ^___^

In other news, Windows BlackComb is now officially "Vienna", and Mac OSX Leopard is off my purchase list at least until they can prove the wait till OCTOBER is worth the wait.... -___-
Otherwise, once I'm done learning Kubuntu, I'd rather just buy a cheaper Tiger-sama.  -v-

Oh, and Aurora and I were discussing an Apple I-tan not too long ago......

http://ostan-collections.net/post-21017.html#21017
[that post and the next two)

Hope that helps whip up some ideas.  ^^

I would like to draw one, but,... well,... i guess I'll talk about it later when I make my announcement.  -v-'

In any event, one last present for you.  ^^
Since I promised it to you on Friday, but couldn't get any artwork done since, I did everything I could to expedite it now.  So please accept the 2008 vector sketch as an early "thank you" for all the wonderful drawings you've created (as well as for doing OS/2, PC-DOS, Win1.0, etc... ^^)

Lots of Easter Eggs in this one -- Freespire-tan and Linux-sama might just resemble some characters you know....  ^.^

I sort of pictured her as a typical 70's hippy...long hair, bell bottoms, into new ideas and such ;) And Aurora's ideas for her love of woodwork is gold  ;010

Nice pic! *Studies* Linspire-tan is wearing Ubuntu's battle suit...a Linux-sama-style visor...has a 0 yin price tag...and is riding a scallion...
Linux-sama herself isn't ringing any bells especially (except that her suit reminds be a bit of OS/2 Warp)...give me time, though, I'll figure her out...

QuoteThat Copland-tan is beautiful! Very beautiful! But I think she'd be better suited as Taligent-tan though (for the reason I stated earlier)

Thank you! She could go either way...Taligent, from my understanding, was a spin-off of Copland, and were both considered 'pink' projects...I guess they'd be sisters or even twins...

As for drawing ideas...I have an idea involving Amiga-tan and a really depressed member of the the Binteji Renmei, who has a really bad background...shouldn't be hard to find...

Yo my bella Bella!  ^v^
I'm still coming in intermittently, but I think I'm getting better.  -v-

Now what do we have today...?  ^___^

QuoteI sort of pictured her as a typical 70's hippy...long hair, bell bottoms, into new ideas and such  And Aurora's ideas for her love of woodwork is gold

Interested in keeping her very short, by any chance?  ^^
[Usually not my style to make them intentionally short, but figured it might work for her.  -v-]

You (or Aurora) might as well go ahead and give her a shot -- cause by "announcement", I mean I'll probably have to nix her from my schedule (along with a ton of other OS-tans).  -.-'

The Ubuntu battle suit is just my way at geek humor,... referring to the recent decision to rebuild Freespire using the Ubuntu base rather than the straight Debian build.  Pretty shoddy now, but by 2008 (coupled with deeper cooperation between Linspire, Inc. and Canonical) it will probably be a staple OS.

That doesn't stop her from being an Ubuntu wannabe, though.  -v-'
Scallion belongs[ed] to her sister (obviously she couldn't sell it), and unlike her big sis 3 years ago, Freespire-chan is perfectly alright with selling herself off for... "sorta free".  ^^;

Also debated with myself as to whether those pigtails are light enough to whip around like that, but too late cause the effect looks too cute to change.  -.-

Surprised you didn't catch Linspire's easter egg.  ^__^
Isn't she wearing something behind her head that looks a bit... familiar?  In fact, you're wearing one in your avatar.  ^v^
Wonder what could've happened in 2007-08 that made her "inherit" that?  ^.^

For Linux-sama, the suit is actually not mystery,... I prefer Juzo-kun's rendition of the Linux uniform because it seems more appropriate to the modern Linux kernel (the old drape and flippers is better suited to the piecemeal 90's).  But as far as her cape and helmet goes, I won't spoil it for you.  ^.^

But I will give you at least a small hint.  -v-

Despite the futuristic new attire, the helmet is actually a 30-year old design, worn by one of the most beloved anti-Heroes in Anime history.  ^___^

QuoteAs for drawing ideas...I have an idea involving Amiga-tan and a really depressed member of the the Binteji Renmei, who has a really bad background...shouldn't be hard to find...

*squeals with delight*

You know how to make an old pig happy...!  ^v^
Before I swoon, I think I know the character you might be referring too, although feel free to try out any of the other undrawn Vintage-tans as well.  I regret that I may never be able to draw a PilotOS-tan after all (OS for the old Xerox Stars), and her backstory is particularly bumpy.  ^^'

Also, in case you've never watched, I definitely recommend you watch Haibane Renmei.  Not particularly because it helps with the "vintage federation" concept, but more because it's a wonderful, cute yet dramatic little series that's a real treat to watch.  ^__^

Now then, I resume eagerly awaiting Amiga-sama.  ^.^

Good...at least one of us does...XD...right now I'm researching the different characters (or their OS's...) trying to find the most tumultuous history...although, because of the pose of this pic I'm hoping to do (Amiga-san sort of hugging the other character in an almost motherly or sisterly sort of way) I wonder if it might be one of her Commodore sisters or even her adopted daughter, AROS...

Xenix-san interests me...and on a sort-of-related note, has there ever been a SCO Unix-tan (Or Xenix-san) done? From what I understand, SCO Unix came from Xenix...therefor, would she be a daughter...and furthermore....a Windows/M$ family auntie? *contemplates intrigue of M$ family/Unix-Linux consortium storyline*

I should ask my brother about when I see him...He has quite an anime collection...although, most of it is dedicated to the sci-fi/space cowboy/mecha genre.

QuoteHow could I have been so blind to that? Although I am not sure...does it have to do with Linspire's support for Window's media technology...?

It might,... but think more optimistic thoughts.... ^__^

Like, say,... M$ will be so hard hit by the OSS Revolution, they'll have no choice but to free some of their proprietary software.  Piece by piece, of course (old habits die hard), but certainly someone like Lin-chan wouldn't hesitate to jump on GPL'd M$ goods.  -v-

QuoteGood...at least one of us does...XD...right now I'm researching the different characters (or their OS's...) trying to find the most tumultuous history...although, because of the pose of this pic I'm hoping to do (Amiga-san sort of hugging the other character in an almost motherly or sisterly sort of way) I wonder if it might be one of her Commodore sisters or even her adopted daughter, AROS...

Commodore sisters, eh...?  ^^
Well, despite my announcement thing, I am still in the process of rendering VIC-20 and C128, so at least that'll complete the fam.  ^v^
Generally VICchan and PANchan (=C64) are the most hard-hit by the fall of Commodore, since they worked the hardest to build it up.  PETchan by now is fairly laid back and SENchan (=C128) was always the quiet mature type.  ^^

AROS-chan planned to draw upon Raffaele-san's completion of MOS-chan (=MorphOS), but would love to see your rendition since I know you'll do a peerless job with the clothing.  I always envisioned her as something of a slightly wilder-looking Henrietta (from Gunslinger Girl), and perhaps not terribly dissimilar from 3.1-sama given her child-like appearance (although she actually is young) and quiet demeanor.  Plus, she's always being escorted by "AROS kitty", an overprotective cat (not a kitten) with white feet (a reference to the real AROS mascot).  ^.^

While her nee-san MorphOS is a magical girl, AROS herself is only mildly clairvoyant and suffers from quite a bit of insecurity (so it's usually up to AROS kitty to keep her out of trouble).

Other traumatized Vintage-tans include GEM-tan (ravaged by a misguided Apple, Inc. in that era), AtariTOS (who obsesses drastically over her so-called "fading beauty") and lest we not forget poor Windows 2.0-chan (the "forgotten" Windows OS).  -v-

EXEC-tan would be an interesting case, since she's perhaps the oldest living OS-tan around (not including Mainframe-tans), and occasionally comes to realize how much the world has changed around her and how many of her friends she grew up with in the old era are now long gone.  But she's too old to show any kind of trauma, and in fact is often the person Amiga-san turns to when she needs a grandmother-like figure to hug.

Cause ironically, Amiga-san probably has one of the roughest histories of all -- and the drama still continues to this date -- so its a wonder who she can continue to remain so optimistc about life.  -.-

QuoteHmm...I couldn't find much on that OS...

Remember, back in that era, a hardware (not the OS) made the computer, so you might have better luck finding info under "Xerox Star".
I imagine PilotOS-tan as a cross between Momo from Xenosaga 3 and Marco from Porco Rosso -- a very young and cute-looking pilot, but exhibiting a very stoic and ill-tempered demeanor that speaks of a lot of frustration with life.  She used to maintain and still owns a small fleet of [very old] aircraft, but no longer has the money to buy fuel for all but one (not surprisingly, called the "X-Star").  The X-Star she uses to run what she refers to as "stupid errands", which helps pay her keep at the Vintage Federation.  ^^

Obviously not a Mac lover, but then she keeps few friends anyway.  -v-

QuoteApple I-sama would be a big project...I might do this drawing, but I'd love to see Aurora's design, too  Still waiting for this announcement...

Might take a while, but I might slip in a word beforehand.  ^^
I too would love to see Aurora's take on her, btw.  ^.^

Yeah, I think I put SCO Unix-Xenix in my daughter-mother list in that other thread.  ^__^

Glad you mentioned her, since Xenix-tan is unfortunately part of a project I may have to scrap.  In any case, you can read a little more about what I had planned for her in the script:

http://ostan-collections.net/post-9745.html#9745

Plus a quick description about her personality (in bold):

http://ostan-collections.net/post-16340.html#16340

For me at least Xenix-san was the trusted family caretaker: professional and old-fashioned, but beautiful and loyal to a fault.  -.-

Without OS/2, Windows 1.0 and 2.0, and with MSDOS-tan's natural shyness, no one in the current Windows family remembers her or even realizes she existed (and M$ likes to keep it that way).  In that sense, her story is inherently sad.  ;__;

Sco Unix I hadn't given much thought too, but she is born in the midst of the UNIX wars and rarely got to see her mother, thus contributing to her very cold and cynical outlook on life.  Perhaps also out of frustration, she enables her parent company to engage in very ridiculous lawsuits, perhaps as a way to share her misery with others (especially those go-lucky Linuces).

GEM-tan vs. a Macintosh-tan would make a mighty interesting battle scene...*focuses* But I think Windows 2.0 would be pretty good in this Amiga scene, because I can see why she'd be quite unsettled by the fact that now the Windows-tans are rich, and she's getting very little credit for any of it...

Here's a rough sketch...it'll probably change a lot in the end, though:

Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam? Either Linux-sama's helmet is based off of his, or they have uncanny taste in headwear.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU AD NAUSEUM for making Amiga-sama!  ^v^

(she is my first OS-tan, after all!  ^__~)

And it looks like you're rendering new clothing for her, which is excellent since I promised Raffaele-san that Amiga-sama would appear in many more different styles of clothing than just her checkered pizzeria shirt.  ^^

Just to help you with proportions, 2.0-chan is shorter and younger-looking than 3.1-sama, and Amiga-san is a little (more like a lot) on the tall side (approx. 183cm).  Very appropriate given their era, since 2.0-chan was still a relatively immature OS by 1987-standards, while Amiga-tan, though 2 years her senior, would remain the most advanced commercial-grade OS for many years.... ^.^)

Also, a note about 2.0-chan's particular trauma.
The problem actually runs a little deeper than just an issue of credit (cause she used to be quite selfless).  Rather it ties back to the same reason why OS/2-tan has her vendetta -- the family she grew up with was torn apart, and the compensation for her (and 1.0-san) was abandonment.  So in a way you could say she believes the current Windows-tans are rich,... after all, they've been able to enjoy a close-knit family life for over 15 years.  -___-

QuoteInteresting design ideas...although, I doubt she'd be pig-person, like Marco...

*tosses mound of cookies at Bella*

Since by 2008 I'm predicting Compiz-Beryl will play a heavy role in the Linux Revolution, I figured Linux-sama would need to change her armor accordingly.  ^.^

While desiging the virtual Beryl helmet, I came upon a design that reminded me a lot of Char's helmet, so I just went ahead and did a parody of it.  ^.^'

I doubt that's how it would really look if I ever did a serious picture of Linux in Compiz-Beryl armor, but hey, it's a comedy.... ^^
Besides, I figure one of the benefits of virtual armor is that it can change shape according to needs.  -v-

QuoteI would really love to do a drawing of both. SCO Unix would probably be quite beautiful, intelligent...and very hardworking, too...

SCO Unix-tan, for a while at least, was mandated to study "Open Sorcery" (the OS-tan equivalent of "open source") and even mingled enough with Linuces to know their way of life better than most other Unices.  But sadly, her parent company refuses to capitalize on her talents, hence their recent preference of making money on lawsuits rather than on quality products.  If only SCO Unix-tan could wind up in better hands, she'd have the same hope for a resurgence as Solaris-tan has at the moment.  ^___^

I just might...I was reading the post in the OS-tan annex about her, it's a very thorough design and I'll likely use that as my guide. Since the AROS mascot has long white hair and yellow eyes, I'd might use those for the design, too.

The scale was a little hard to get because of the pose...I'll probably do another picture, because I wasn't very pleased with 2.0-tan's hair...perhaps a bit longer, and a little more...disheveled...plus, I didn't really like their clothes.

But of course, surely one with an appropriate spanish name likes yours would appreciate an OS-tan with a similarly-appropriate spanish name.  ^v^

QuoteIt was just a sketch...I wasn't even sure who the character would be...thanks for the help, though! I'll work on it!

Nonono... in Bella's world, there is no sketch.  There is only masterpiece and then uber-masterpiece.  ^__^

.....................Don't mind me, I'm just being abnormally-flattering tonight.  -v-'

QuoteI imagine she dresses something like a businesswoman, too...and for some reason, I see her with blueish hair and gray eyes...

Coincdentally, I also imaged Xenix-san with pale-blue hair, probably because I couldn't shake off the image of Zephiris as her character base (at least at the time, although later I considered Wilhelmina from 'Shakugan no Shana' as well).  Even used Zephiris' picture as a placeholder for Xenix-tan in Windows 1.0-tan's family picture frame:

QuoteI just might...I was reading the post in the OS-tan annex about her, it's a very thorough design and I'll likely use that as my guide. Since the AROS mascot has long white hair and yellow eyes, I'd might use those for the design, too.

Perfect.  ^___^
Many months ago, I discussed some preconcept ideas about AROS-chan with Raffaele-san,... though sadly, that PM has been lost forever to the Sentbox mail cap.  -v-'

But it essentially covered everything I told you, plus the yellow eyes.  Though her overall appearance should be cute as a button, she would actually have some very remarkable and imposing pair of eyes.

She's still a fairly immature OS, so a child-type suits her best I think -- for that reason, I'd recommend only shoulder-length hair at most.  Long flowing white hair would probably suit her best when she's a little older.  ^__^

QuoteAn outline of Amiga-sama and Win2.0-tan:

QuoteThe scale was a little hard to get because of the pose...I'll probably do another picture, because I wasn't very pleased with 2.0-tan's hair...perhaps a bit longer, and a little more...disheveled...plus, I didn't really like their clothes.

Okay, major swoon factor here!  ^v^

Just remember the whole scale thing is really just a recommendation, but you're free to draw whatever you'd like of course.  Unlike some people I used to know 'round these parts, I ain't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, no siree....  ^___^

For instance, 2.0-chan's hair is okay, although if you really want to make something long, then probably just her bangs will do.  ^__^

You may not like their clothes in sketch mode,... I mean, "masterpiece" mode... ^.^ ......but I'm sure they'd shine in color.  ^___^

On the other hand, if you still want to represent the scale, perhaps you can try making 2.0-chan lie her head on Amiga-san's lap, and Amiga perhaps stroking 2.0-chan's hair with her left hand, while her right continues to be grasped by the young girl.  ^__^

Quotea veeeeery rough sketch of VMS-san...I suppose this is after she started to go fringe...

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah!!!  ^v^

I can see her passing for NT-tan's long-lost and evidently quite kick-ass mother.  ^.^

Fantastabulous job, especially with the dagger weapon on her left hand.

Just do want to apologize, cause I think I might've misled you.  When I think of cleavers wielded by warriors, I'm thinking of something a little,......

...Longer....  ^^;

Bella

Would you look at that? I did a background :D

Quote*stares at avi* AHA!! So that's the viscious 95-tan I know. `v'
Awwww yeah, the aged one shows her TRUE colors. ^.^

The vicious 95-tan we know and love, eh? Speaking of which, I've been upgraded to 98! I did a lot of work on comps running 98 and 98SE, so Hacchan and Secchan are pretty well liked by me :)

QuoteFufufu... indeed they are,... I predict in 5 years, we'll finally see Open3.1-sama. ^.^
And then the Captain can have her power his entire red Dell laptop of his and then all will be well in the world. ^.^

That'd be cool. I really can't see what the harm would be to M$ by open sourcing their old Windows releases...I mean, there's no real market for them anyway....

QuoteThank you. ^.^

Heehee...I don't even know where I got 'Bella' from. I guess it was from my DeviantArt name, Bella Cielo, which translated to Spanish (or Italian) means 'beautiful sky'...that's a whole other story, though...

First off, thank you! I don't know if 2.0-chan's hair will necessarily be longer, perhaps just a little more messy than usual (seeing as she's very broken up about her family...hairstyling might not be on the top of her to-do list), and I'm also trying to think of more interesting clothes...Perhaps 2.0-chan will wear something along the lines of a light house robe, over a dress (again, not too worried about her appearance at the moment)...but Amiga will be wearing something more done-up.

Awww...I should of known it'd be an...er...stylized weapon, rather than what you may find in a butcher's shop, XD Oh well, that's why I do sketches!

C-Chan

Awesome stuff here three.... damn, you guys are just awesome, no?!  ^__^

In any case, I repeat,... please hold that thought,,...
Will be right back.  ^___________^'

C-Chan

Sorry to keep you waiting.  ^^

Now then,... let's... get... respondin'.... ^^

QuoteWould you look at that? I did a background

Hmmm,... now that you mention it, you've never actually drawn your BGs before, haven't you?  '__'
Not sure how often you do them, but I think it came out very well.  The mountains, for instance, are very well-rendered,... though it's a shame that the fine details are hard to distinguish with all the white.  -.-

QuoteThe vicious 95-tan we know and love, eh? Speaking of which, I've been upgraded to 98! I did a lot of work on comps running 98 and 98SE, so Hacchan and Secchan are pretty well liked by me

I've only been out for a few hours, and already you've changed your avi to the 98 sisters.  ^^
I'm gonna miss snarling at the 95-tan one, but I can definitely get used to those cuties.  ^.^

QuoteThat'd be cool. I really can't see what the harm would be to M$ by open sourcing their old Windows releases...I mean, there's no real market for them anyway....

I guess they figure that even a free Windows platform would jeopardize their monopoly,... after all, with all the millions of OSS tools lying around, and a horde of volunteer programmers itching to improve the Windows Kernel, it wouldn't take long for an Open3.1-sama to reach or even surpass the capabilities of Vista.  (No Aero?  Just slap on Beryl and you're already light years ahead.)  ^^;

*squeals with delight*

Sorry, just get uncharacteristically giddy at the mention of Amiga-san.... Don't know why, really.... ^^'

*wags tail*

2.0-chan's a mason on the side, so she's already a little on the untidy side.  The slightly unkept hair, therefore, is an excellent idea on all accounts.  Aside from clothing, I see you have an excellent way of expressing emotion in your characters.  ^__^

QuoteNT-san has a kickass mama, booyaa!

That one is classic.  ^___^

QuoteAwww...I should of known it'd be an...er...stylized weapon, rather than what you may find in a butcher's shop, XD Oh well, that's why I do sketches!

Again with the "S" word.... -v-

I think you mean "Masterpieces", no?  `v'

In any event, the idea for VMS-sama wielding a sword was to draw a parallel with NT-tan, who (although not shown very often with it) once wielded a broad sword...

I'm assuming that NT in turn probably helped 95-tan train in swordsmanship as well (although the latter preferring an eastern blade).  Neither of them, however, could have taken on a grandmaster like VMS-tan (at least not in a direct fight), so I wanted a sword that was large and exotic enough to reflect a credible sense of power.  Certainly the shark teeth lend the giant cleaver a very primordial and ancient feel to it -- cause as we all know, nothing can ever overpower mother nature.  ^__^

The other pictures really weren't jumping out at me...so I went in a different direction. This was drawn in just an hour or so...I think it's quite a bit more interesting than the last.

You know, I've always pictured NT-san as so much of a mother-figure that I've never really thought about her helping to train 95-tan...I like crazy fighting NT-san  ;010
