Yet another one of Juzo-kun's ten Linux distro-tans, Slackware-tan personifies Slackware Linux, a popular distro descended from Softlanding Linux System. Slackware is noted for being built on the KISS (Keep it simple, stupid)principal. Slackware Linux is often advocated as being transparent and flexible, the most Unix-like of the Linux distos; but criticized for doing so at the cost of user friendliness.

Attitude-wise, Juzo-kun's original design seemed to show her as no-nonesense, utilitarian and intelligent, a whiz with mechanical pursuits. An earlier, but one-shot design (by the artist and considered such by the fandom) depicts Slackware-tan as a waitress girl with short brown hair, carrying a tray and wearing rollerblades.

“If possible, could I have some more?”
This article could be expanded on and use more details, and needs them as much as XP-tan needs more RAM!

Character Details

Slackware-tan mainly personifies both Slackware Linux, and Softlanding Linux Systems, which Slackware is descended from. Slackware is noted for being built on the KISS (Keep it simple, stupid)principal. Slackware Linux is often advocated as being transparent and flexible, the most Unix-like of the Linux distros; but criticized for doing so at the cost of user friendliness.

The fanon Slackware-tan design is the design drawn by Juzo-kun; wearing gray overalls and a black shirt, sometimes carrying tools, a spear, and/or a pipe (the later being a nod to Slackware Linux's mascot, a Tux with a pipe). She wears her brown hair in a braid.

An earlier, but one-shot design (by the artist and considered such by the fandom) depicts Slackware-tan as a waitress girl with short brown hair, carrying a tray and wearing rollerblades.

Attitude-wise, Juzo-kun's original design seemed to show her as no-nonsense, utilitarian and intelligent, a whiz with mechanical pursuits. Later renditions also seem to convey she's a bit high-strung and takes a little getting used to, perhaps as an in-joke referring to the Slackware Linux's less-than-user friendly nature.

Family and relationships

Being the most Unix-like of the Linux distros, she loves the Unix-tans, admiring UNIX most of all in a fangirlish manner, contrasting with her usually no-nonsense attitude. This puts her at odds with some of the other Linux-tans she's affiliated with in the LUC, who aren't so trusting of the Unices, or even outright hostile.

She gets along best with Arch Linux-tan and Yggdrasil-tan and is antagonistic towards low-end distro-tans such as Linspire and Freespire. In her childhood, she was close to her twin SuSE-tan, but is now ambivalent towards her, disagreeing with many of SuSE's decisions. She rivals Red Hat-tan and Debian-tan in power and influence.
