==History==
The origins of the Binteeji Renmei date back to 1993-1994 when [[Apple II | Apple II-tan]], [[Apple Lisa | Lisa-tan]] and [[GS/OS | GS/OS-tan]] left the [[Apple Family]]. They left for Apple II-tan's farmhouse and plantation. Amiga-tan arrived at Apple II-tan's place where they would later establish the Binteeji Renmei. It was during the OS Wars when they first attempted for found the Binteeji Renmei but failed for a multitude of reasons: The Apple-tans gave out a lot of resources to help the Mac-tans who were struggling during the OS Wars and that Amiga-tan had to move around from company to company while trying to avoid fading into oblivion.

Shortly after the OS Wars, Amiga-tan and the three Apple-tans encounter [[Windows 1.0 | Windows 1.0-tan]] and [[Windows 2.0 | 2.0-tan]] both of which were in a very sorry state and barely escaped the crossfire of the OS Wars. They join their group, and with funding from Unix (who greatly admires Amiga-tan's compassion and her group's motives), the Binteeji Renmei is established.

From that point onwards, the Binteeji Renmei improves as they take in more refugees (and each one with their own talents to contribute), and rebuild their lives and restore dignity as best as they can for these OS-tans.

==OSC Notes==
The Binteeji Renmei also helps out OS-tans from other factions. The [[House of Mac | Mac-tans]] are especially friendly with the OS-tans of the Binteeji Renmei (the Vintage-tans as they're called) and are known to visit quite often (especially the early Mac-tans who feel like they can better relate to them than their younger generation of relatives). Some of the older Linux-tans (such as [[Yggdrasil Linux | Yggdrasil Linux-tan]] and Evil Entity-tan) have retired to a quiet life as honorary members of the Binteeji Renmei and watch over the Vintage-tans.

	The Binteeji Renmei (translated in English as The Vintage Federation) is itself inspired by the remarkable Anime/Manga [[wikipedia:Haibane_Renmei\| Haibane Renmei]] created by Yoshitoshi Abe. It is a non-profit organization dedicated primarily to assisting vintage and abandoned OS-tans, and providing a voice for them in a world that barely remembers them. It was originally conceived by [[Amiga \| Amiga-tan]], having spent several years as a wanderer and witnessing the plight of countless vintage OS-tans (once the marvel of their day) whittling the remainder of their lives in obscurity. However, in a rare bout of compassion by [[UNIX \| Unix]], she provided the funding to help Amiga-tan make the Binteji Renmei a reality, and to this date continues to offer the fledgling faction a token annual stipend.

	The Binteji Renmei is not rich by any stretch of the imagination and many of its members are either too outdated to work a decent-paying job or require special assistance. Nevertheless they remain very talented and resourceful individuals, and by binding together as a community they're able to pool their resources far more effectively, as well as discover newfound strengths and motivations. Self-esteem, self-education and self-sufficiency are among the many values that they help each other learn and practice to a fault. Whereas once the organization subsisted entirely on charity, now it's grown and sustained itself to the point where it can offer charity of its own. If not in the form of money, certainly in the form of hope.
