奈留
Na-ru

Chocofreak13

dude, re-read the first post, nothing starts with -n. so i'll assume you're restarting the chain with a new word. but in the event that you were going off the last syllable of my word, that's wrong.

what does naru mean, anyway?

留守番
るすばん

Ru-su-ba-n
"care-taking, caretaker"

and because that would kill it again,

留守番電話
るすばんでんわ

Ru-su-ba-n-de-n-wa
"Answering Machine"

SleepyD

Naru appears to be a name...
I'd discourage it, but I won't disallow it completely.

笑い
わらい

wa-ra-i
"1) laughter 2) smile"

Incidentally, the verb form, 「笑う」 "warau" is where the japanese form of "lol", "www," originates. (They can't be bothered to write the whole word, so they just write the single "w". Ah, internet.)

Chocofreak13

ahh, so THAT'S what those comments on NND mean. i always thought the "wwww" had to do with something involving moe. thanks for clearing that up.

医薬
いやく

I-ya-ku
"Medicine"

SleepyD

hehe now you know the most basic Japanese net-jargon. :3
Here's something with a very basic kanji that shouldn't be too hard to learn:

くち

ku-chi
(n) "mouth"

Stroke order is here:

^ that site also has sentence examples and other nifty things.

知性
ちせい

Chi-se-i
"Intelligence"

インド
i-n-do
India

As in Indian Curry: インドカレー (i-n-do-ka-ree)

Why India? Cuz I thought of this Japanese meme of them synchronizing bollywood dance numbers to j-pop and anime themes.
Indian Dance: インドダンス (i-n-do-da-n-su)
