actually, diddy kong is based off a spider monkey. chimps don't have tails. :3

(from what i can tell, donkey and chunky are based off gorillas, diddy off a spider monkey, lanky off an orangutan, and tiny off of a chimp. dunno what cranky or candy are based off of, but funky seems to be another gorilla.)
