It's not Vista, as hinted by the last line. I'm guessing it's either Windows NT or 95 as they were more reliable than ME but were still rather unstable.

I don't think memory is represented superficially. Going off of XP-kun and Homeo, Homeo is a teenager, whereas XP-kun is an adult bodybuilder. Since XP Pro and XP Home (the OS's themselves, not the -tans) have similar memory requirements, I don't think that any representation of memory usage for -kuns will be shown anywhere other than in hentai pics.

NO ONE HAS GOTTEN RIDDLE NO. 2 YET. JUST SO EVERYONE IS AWARE.

ok, ya know what? this is just sad. i posted that riddle MONTHS ago, and no one's gotten it. >_<

it was XPMCE-tan. (the brown haired version) In the 80's there was the genre of british punk rock, where fans and artists alike were sometimes referred to as "thrashers". also, a "crasher" could mean someone who decided to crash on the couch, which is also common of punk rockers.

That's a hard one. How about my riddle I think it's easy.
So once there was a girl who got trapped by some bunnies. xD sthen she was in this room with a window. her friend was in the other cell and she has language that can only be used when the guards switch- 9:30. So theres a bell that rings after every hour, theres a cute dog with consistent heartbeat and she can hear it and her dinner is passed at 7:00. She knows all of this. So how does she know when to say the message.
Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: Red-Machine on March 23, 2009, 06:34:56 AM
Well, it would help if we knew if it was 9:30am or 9:30pm!

If it's pm:
She waits until her dinner is served then after two chimes of the bell and 1,800 beats of the dog's heart (assuming it beats once per second), she relays the message.

If it's am:
She waits until her dinner is served then after 14 chimes of the bell and 1,800 beats of the dog's heart (assuming it beats once per second), she relays the message.

What's the lifetime expectancy of an average human, MEASURED IN LIGHTYEARS?

Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: IanDanKilmaster on March 23, 2009, 09:21:55 PM

Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: Red-Machine on March 24, 2009, 05:11:30 AM
Is that how many lightyears a human can travel in one lifetime?

If that is so, then the number's gonna be like 3 or something.
Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: Smokey on March 24, 2009, 07:14:00 AM
No, since a light-year is the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one Julian year (in case you're wondering what a Julian year is; 365.25 days of 86,400 SI seconds each, totalling 31,557,600 seconds)...
although a lightyear sounds like a huge distance it's just ~1/3 parsec.
Anyways, since we know that the definition of lightspeed (when measuring a lightyear) is 299,792,458 m/s, we can calculate how far light travels in a year (31,557,600 x 299,792,458 / 100) = 9,460,730,472,580.8 KM. so we now assume that your human is averaging 5KM/H, we can calculate how many  (or how big a fraction of a ) lightyear a human lasts...
A human would traverse a lightyear (with an average speed of 5KM/H) in 215,850,569,76 Julian years... We know that a human doesn't live that long, so we'll have this human live 90 Julian years. So we'll calculate what the distance is in that lifespan...
A human could traverse (with said speed of 5KM/H) a distance of 3,944,700KM wich is 1/2398339,664th of a lightyear...

Therefore the average life-expectancy of a human, measured in lightyears is 1/2398339,664...

Added after 2 minutes:

BTW, Red_Machine... If a human could traverse 3 Lightyears, he would reach a respectable and record-breaking age of 647,551,709,28 Julian years...

That's a good one, smokey!
Not the answer I was thinking of, but that one's a more blunt approach to it, I guess. ^^

When I said reshape, I meant you should think it like this:

Traveling at the speed of light, how many years would a human live?
(assuming the spacecraft doesn't collapse etc. and yes I know lightspeed travel isn't actually possible, but I say it is now, so go with it.)
Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS

Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: IanDanKilmaster on March 24, 2009, 07:02:33 PM
Then Smokey was on the right track - he just needs to remove distance from the equation.  Also, are we sure average lifespan is 90?  I guess the number here is mostly arbitrary as long as he uses the proper formula (like the one he used to determine the age in Julian years after traveling 3 lightyears).

Damn, I'm still amused by that picture XD... I'm a very sad individual...

Gah, relativity headache ><.  I was about to perform the calculations, but I realized something - how the hell does one measure time traveling light speed?  Would a person actually age?  In any case, in a period of time that appeared as 90 years to a person in space (given that perspective doesn't somehow change at lightspeed travel) a person would be aged 1,942,655,127,840 Julian years - at least according to my math.

Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: Smokey on March 25, 2009, 09:57:29 AM
Well traveling at the speed of light away from earth will make it impossibly complicated, since in that case Einsteins Relativity Theory kicks in, wich means that if you'd travel that direction at those speeds, time would for you go in a different "speed" so to say than on earth, and you can toss the books away... You'll need practical data on that and since mankind has only managed to make photons travel at more than lightspeed, we cannot measure the timespan of a human traveling at the speed of light away from eart... BTW even if we were to send a human out on such a quest, we wouldn't receive data on that matter in our lifespan, because our methods of communication are still traveling at the speed of light so if he were to travel 90 lightyears and then die, we would know about it in approximately 180 years, assuming the signal reaches that far and the signal is indeed transmitted at the speed of light to us...
Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: NejinOniwa on March 25, 2009, 11:51:58 AM
The answer is:

He can live for 90 years...from HIS viewpoint...

For some physics lesson: TIME GOES SLOWER WHEN YOU SPEED SHIT UP.
The tunnel is only so wide is a metaphor I often use when describing time to make n00bs understand (like the people in my physics B class) special relativity. Think of time as a tunnel. You go from point A to point B in this tunnel in a certain amount of time.
There is air in this tunnel. As one travels through it, the resistance from the air slows you. Depending on how fast you travel, time goes at different speeds.
Now here comes the tricky part: The larger one is, the more air resistance slows you. Thus, the bigger you grow, the slower you get. As you approach lightspeed you will travel slower and slower through the tunnel. However you cannot reach lightspeed because this disallows you from traveling through the tunnel at all: THE TUNNEL IS ONLY 299,792,458 m/s WIDE. Thus if one does reach lightspeed one stops ones travel through the tunnel, and moves within the same frame. As such it does not matter how long he lives in that state, because we cannot perceive the changes; That means, from our PoV, he should be able to live for as long as his craft can maintain lightspeed, providing this is above 90 years from his viewpoint, ergo 90 LY; however this is not true since we cannot perceive (and thus not age) anything at lightspeed since our senses are dependent on time. Thus, he is able to live for as long as his craft can maintain lightspeed, PLUS 90-his current age. (this is providing that he stops moving at relativistic speeds once he gets out of lightspeed).

Damn, that was a fux'd up question, wasn't it -w-;

Now then, for some crap.
I create, I destroy, I claim, I annihilate. All things I make are my own arms. I am hunted by humans, aliens and zealots alike. Few stand with me, and all I fight - all but the one who made me.

I DECLARE ORE NO TURN

My first is neither shaft, nor head,
but the wound left by the hammer.
My second carries meanings that differ,
but what I seek is neither name nor port,
but elusive strangeness.

I am overrated in my power.
I am hungered after by those who watch.
I am the first climax, the turning point
where the good came and went
and the dull replaced it.

I dedicate this post to thank the infernal fires I was born of that nobody has made a Bleach musical yet.
You don't seem to be very enthusiastic about this, so I'll just discard it.

The wound from a hammer is a B&, making the first part of the word Ban.

The second part would be quite tricky, maybe, but if I give you Kubo Tite, bleach author, and Ban, the first half of the word, as well as the fact that this made this particular series dull and boring (which is what the second half of the riddle is on about) one could quite simply (with some acceptable wikipedia skills) realize that the sought second half was Kai, which means strangeness (hells, there's a wikipedia entry for it, even!) in moonspeak - put them together and you have BANKAI, which was the answer none of you could get.

You make Sméagol sad.

Windows NT-tan is the mother of 2K-tan, the XP-tans, Vistan and Windows 7-tan. And sometimes she's portrayed as looking like a child., and Windows 1.0-tan is the mother of the DOS-based Windows-tans.
Title: TODAY'S RIDDLE IS
Post by: Red-Machine on October 16, 2009, 08:15:15 AM
Hmmm...

Two children (guessing they're girls considering they're Windows-tans) united by mothers day.  Who is the person that unites them?

The two Windows-tans most often associated with each other are the 98 girls, and they are portrayed as children, too.  I'm guessing their mother would be 95-san or 3.1-sama.  I think going back as far as Windows 1.0 or 2.0 is stretching it a bit.

most of my riddles are assoiated with the ANIME aspect of the -tans, NOT the tech aspect. (that is what makes these riddles tricker; there's two sides to the subject matter! >w< )

If you mean which of their daughters the two mother Windows-tans are closest to, then 1.0-tan is the closest to 2.0-tan, NT-tan is closest to Inu-T and 2K-tan.

Of the canon Windows-tans/Windows Family faction, NT-tan and 95-tan are portrayed as the mother figures, even though 95-tan is actually the big sister to most of the DOS-based Windows-tans. Kinda strange since 3.1-tan and MS-DOS-tan are still part of the family and are older than them!

1.0-tan and 2.0-tan were banished from the Windows Family faction during the OS Wars. 98-tan and the later Windows-tans do not know of their existence. 3.1-tan, NT-tan and 95-tan know of them, but cannot and do not speak of them at all. Sad, isn't it? :(
