Title: 3D Desktop Anime Doll
Post by: Raffaele the Amigan on December 05, 2008, 08:09:56 PM
Dennou Figure ARis (http://www.geishatokyo.com/jp/ar-figure) (Cyber Figure Alice) from Geisha Tokyo Entertainment (http://www.geishatokyo.com) consists in a cube with some 3D reference marks that you can put on your desktop table...

The cube will be highlighted by Webcam and the system will add a 3D animated Manga Doll rendered on the cube, allowing you to let her living in 3D right on your desktop screen!  o_o  ;012

A little stick, that is also showing 3D reference marks, it will be the real pointer in real world for your virtual hand on screen, with which to interact with the doll...

See the demo video on youtube:

Really this is a priceless gadget for all Otakus worldwide...

I hope we will see soon on sale an OS-TAN extension kit for this program...

Not sure I'd be good with that kind of power... especially after seeing the demo... Still want one though.

i hope they dont plan on selling the cube, pointer, and other pieces for it. all it would take is a piece of cardstock paper and a sharpie to make them. as for the program, pirate bay will have it within a week of its release.

with some 3d modeling expirience, a 3d editing program, and knowledge of where the files are located im sure someone could animate an out fit of some/all of the OS-tans.

I think that cube and stick must be of fixed size...

Build your own Arisu doll reference tools but miss their size and then the program will not work...

And however it is not polite to suggest pirated software...  ;138  ;070

REA-kun, I understand you meant it only as a joke, but it was an inappropriate one for the forum. Piracy is not something we condone, and posting links is a direct violation of Forum Rules, section 3 (http://ostan-collections.net/topic-336.html). Prank links are dangerous ground. Consider this your formal warning.

But as long as you keep the rules from here on out, you will probably make a good playmate for Nejin-sama, no? ^.^

Anyways, that is a very amusing flash video! :D

I know it's rude to sage, but if the only thing that'll happen - which has been the case for the last 10 times this has happened the last month or so - is that it'll turn into a cesspool of OT, then I'd rather be rude and rid myself of the obligation.

She asked about the anime desktop doll, totally on topic.

Also on topic:  Ive seen that thing for sale on J-List recently. Might just have to get it.  And as far as I was told when I was looking as FSN and FHA at con last year, japanese windows programs will work on US versions of windows, just if you dont have the language packs installed they wont display right. In this case i dont think it will matter if your text shows up as funny symbols.  If your lucky someone out there might make an english patch to make it easier to read tho, like happened with FSN and Ragnarock battle offline.. but that thing is new and I doubt it at the moment

Well, if you don't like the japanese text not showing up right, a language pack is easily installed...

indeed it is.  someone told me once that if you delete the japanese DLL file or something that is will display the text in "romanji" never tried doing that sort of thing tho. Would make it easier to use.  easier to translate that then kanji

yep, and romanji makes japanese easier to learn...
