Goodness what a messy post I wrote. Sorry about that... [/quote] I think u were right on the whole post thing... u shoulnt feel bad for it
this thread just reminds me how strange it is that the net is where you can get support from so many people o.O then again.. its also got more then its fair share of intolerents
that's for sure.
oh hey, your on, whats up Panda ? :D
eh. not much. This girl was suppost to meet me at PJ to day, she's still not on, about 35 more min. till she officaly bailed on me.
Male and Male with a Few Female Tendancys
At one Point I was looking into the Gender change stuff, But then my testosterone re-assterted it's self
I didnt know you could remake a poll on the same thread.
*ahem* Yes, it's possible.
*is so proud of his doings that is not looking in front of him*
*trips on a metal trash can*
Male/Male with long hair and I wear it in a scrunci.
I'm a girl, and I think like a girl. ;hi
you lie! there are no girls on the internet!!
XD
LoL it depends on the sites (the male/females ratio) but anyway male or female and thinking anything you want, you're welcome there ;hi (that is - as long as it'll be me there... can't know about the future ;010 )
Quote from: "CaptBrenden"you lie! there are no girls on the internet!!
XD Wha...what? XD *looks down* I..am so confused now ;026 *sniffles* Bah I kind of figured there would be more guys than girls on an OS-tan forum. But I <3 them so much it's too hard to resist joining. ^^
.
I'm a male...obviously
I put male/male but honestly im probably around 60/40 as far as mentallity goes. I checked though, im definitly still a guy :P
here only two girl on this hole, tht i know of and one doesn't post anymore. male/man thing
Its kind of a shame, you would think the Os-tans would draw more women to them, but i guess they are too often exaturated for male audiences :P
I'm a guy now, dog! *rimshot*
body > female mental > 30% female, 70% male
I have a male body but about a third of my mental state would be considered female. I do enjoy more of the romances out there and basically do more things that women might do instead of men
Genders... Of the mind. Not too bad. Not too Shabby. Allthough I'd make a thread about cheese. Cheese if nice. Anyhoo, I don't consider My mind being bound to one gender. I think my mentality is: Dewroo. yes. Just plain old Dewroo.
"But wait, I don't remebmer any 'Dewroo' Gender. Wtf?" ;018
Let's all be cool and pretend they're is. ;011
I am Male.
Though im not one of these "Be A Man" types with no crying and all that BS. You should be true to yourself, and I do think i have a bit of a mixed personality cosidering male and female.
Yeaah....
men can cry too! and... ph33r my flimsy physique and nerdiness! *wobbles arms*
I feel your pain. I am also a weak, male, very unusual nerd. How am I ever supposed to get a date now?
I am female but not really.... most of what makes being female special is nothing I appreshiate or am capable of, I am not very emotional, hate the quirks of my body, want the same pay for my work, am interested in all sorts of newrdy themes and online-gamer.
O RLY? This makes our fourth female member (I think).
YA RLY!
NO WAI!
Wow, and I though this would be a forum of all nerds and geeks. Simce im borderline Geek. Quotehate the quirks of my body I have quite a few female friends around my house and were like though anime childhood friend couples. And one has erm... quite a large chest and is always complaining her breasts are getting in the way of her doing things. Im 15 by the way. I guess its just one of those female things, as us men have some "difficulties" too.
NewYinzer revisits this topic, Part II Geek? Somewhat. Nerd? Probably not. Do girls like me? Some do. Am I weak? In the upper body, yes. In the lower body and morally, no. Am I a 40 year old virgin still living with my mother? I am not forty, I am in high school, so I do live with my parents. I am a virgin, but that is a positive attribute, considering I am below the age of consent. Do I have difficulties as a man? Heck yes.
Guy..me

That pretty sums up me aswell, but I do have some upper and lower body strength because I can kick a football quite far and get it on target, and am not a virgin (though lets not change the topic of this thread over this fact, its happened on other forums).
Gah... so many youngins here XD *shakes cane*
*checks*
Still a female. XP
But, I think it's nice that you guys can identify with female thinking in some ways. I can only promise it'll help you down the road, when you're as old as me. <3
Female thinking: good idea. Lots of youngins in here: made a note of it. Alex isn't a virgin: what the? He and... ...better not change the topic.
Well it wasnt with anyone from this forum I can tell you ;001 . And young or old, boy or girl. We are all here for the one single reason:
We adore the OS-tan...
But seriously, thinking like a girl a bit when you a lad really helps understand your partner. Its helping me and my girlfriend as we talk about stuff like cooking. May be strange but im fond of cooking, specially when im soo good at it.
BTW, Everyone get on the IRC Chat channel, we can slow down useage on the forum then...
we have an IRC channel? Why was I not informed?
Yeah, look at the top of the board.. it's a link that says, "OS-tan IRC chat". <3 I'm using it web-based though. Not so bad.
QuoteWe adore the OS-tan... Heck yeah brother! As I was saying, - OH CRAP THE MAYOR IS DEAD! *sniff*
I have the fit uper and lower body of a marine. Beefcake!! tho, its all going to go downhill when I start sitting behind an animation desk all day long.
And guys do have thier problems, like a criticly easy to hit target for women. But at least men are easy to understand.
theirs no way in hell we have 13 transexuals here.
I don't know who started this "I'm not really a 'normal' ____", but this really is geared twards, are fine with being your physical sex? not this "the thought never accorded to me", then your Not transexul!
Basicly, if your fine with being the sex you are, then don't say your transexual.
Sounds a big ratio indeed, however and of course we won't tell who voted what... I agree there are different degrees on this, maybe a few more options could have been of use (i feel a bit ... i feel totally the other sex for ex.)
oi oi No need to be angry Panda. As Linux-tan said, maybe the poll needed 2 more options, for moderate opinions: some of the posters did that because they think they have many of the characteristics of the opposite sex (they do not feel as being your usual "macho"/your usual "feminine woman") but didn't feel that they have to change their sex.
Originally the question wasn't even put in the way of "do you feel comfortable in your body or would it be better if you were in the other sex's body", but just if one feels like a boy or a girl inside. One can interpret that question in many ways, in my opinion.
So, people's answers cannot really be criticized, panda-san. *shakes head*
Male here. Last time I checked in psychology class, think like a male.
Hmmm... I just realized that there's no option for "Male Chauvinist Pig". '_'
*sighs* I feel so unrepresented..... -___-
*wanders off to mope*
Humm, maybe we could broden the poll to make that more defined? Like make a different entry for tomboy types and a differnt one for girls that really think they should be guys?
QuoteQuote from : 95Direct
Male here. Last time I checked in psychology class, think like a male. /me nods. I understand better the female avatar ;010
how come this thread stopped? did everybody get satisfied from what they are inside and out??? :/
darnit, I think like both males and females...
*flips coin*
Male-Male for me, then.
Male here.
-_- I thought this thread was dead and gone already....
Tho, relevent to it. I was told by my ext grilfriend that I have an alot of estrogen o.O Maybe I really AM a lesbian in a mans body!
I put physically male, mentally a man/boy - as I definitely am - but that doesn't mean I know anything about football, consider groping a meaningful relationship with a woman or consider culture to extend as far as switching on the subtitles on your... *ahem*... 'speciality' foreign film. And neither do a lot of my gender so, sorry girls, but a lot of the stereotypes ain't true. ;012
well i think im a guy, I hope i'm a guy, but if i'm not a guy on the inside, please let me be a lesbian on the inside hehehe... ;013
Physically male, mentally male
I don't like sports...hate them actually, but i'm not fat so there's no need to really lol...and i have some other views on women and life like s8man said there but most of here are pretty much geeks so I don't think any would be a stereotype male mentally lol :P
yup Physically male, mentally male
I'm a man, baby! (said in the best Austin Powers style). :P
I'd say my thoughtpattern is pretty much exclusively male. I hope.... ;026
Hmmm interesting topic... and its something I have thought about it and I've casted my vote... but it somewhat hard to say it personally.
After a great deal of research, I have concluded that I am a male. What gave it away was the ZOMG PEN0R! and general male physique.
It should be noted that I am a staunch proponent of mammaries. My campaign manager will confirm this come election time.
run your finger up your throat..if you find an apple, there is generaly a banna
Physically male. As for mentally, the sheer number of people, both male and female, who have mistaken me for a girl online leads me to believe that mentally I probably think more like a girl. As for myself, I don't really think of myself as a guy or a girl as such... I'm just... me >_> /cliché
OP probably doesn't want my opinion on trans op so I wont comment on that
Quote from: "CaptBrenden"run your finger up your throat..if you find an apple, there is generaly a banna Hahahaha! ;019 True, True.. i'm gonna try *reaches inside throat* yup, apple there. the banana is the easy part.. hehe
that was a word of wisdom my platoon sergent gave us when we went to singapore to make she we wernt getting a TS
platoon sargent? ;013 are you in the army or something?
bloody hell I hate it when that question gets asked -_-
Im in the United States Marines. Infantry and armory to be spicific. Please dont confuse me with those panys.
The Marines? Well then. No toys for you.
Only the Army and the Air Force seem to order new stuff. I can't remember any orders from just the US Marines. Are you guys just swimming in old junk?
We arnt hard core because we choose to be. We learn to make do with what we have. Tho we got some new stuff while we were in country last. before this wark kicked off most of our electro optices were vietnam era.. its at least served to bring us up to date at the very least
anyhow this s a bit off subject....The original intent of the starter of this topic was to help her identify other transgender people. Tho its turned into more of a "im a guy but i do chick things" replys. Gawd this thread is old tho.. I dont know why you guys dragged it out of the closet
oops. o_o
very sorry for bringing up the topic CaptBrenden...
I'm a guy. I like girls. Any questions?
;hi
=^..^=
I'm a green alien i like girls as well... hehe every guy should like girls. i don't like guys who like other guys more than girls. ;026

traps...yes, perhaps much mcuh different than you have ever could have imagined.
For you see, bears are posing a threat to our very existence. For these "Girls" you speak of are actually the collective gathering of minds of BEARS! What do you think their doing during hybernation? Exactly!

honestly no ones preference should matter to you.. cus its their choice. too many people sit around worrying abotu what other people are doing
More than 1 year after, this thread is still hot and so its contents ^_^
Remember that our community - and as a matter of fact any community - is made of very different personalities, and that's a good thing IMO... How boring it'd be to have everyone looking and acting same... :)
Anyway, i'm sure this wasn't said to harm anyone so it's ok...
*checks*
Still a girl!
*checks again*
Still thinking like a girl. XD
i donno, i think you need a second opinion. i could check for you ^_^
Physically a male, and mentally a male. I do have parts that an be stereotypically considered feminine: that is, I'm sensitive to other's people feelings, I'm relatively gentle, and I'm thoughtful. I think, though, the only reason those are considered "feminine" is because society has ingrained it so much in our minds that men have strong and stoic that we forget people are human, and humans have feelings, male or female.
I tend to enjoy being sexually dominant (or even just a little dominant in the relationship in general), though. Not to the point of sadism. << But I like "feeling" like a man, and my girlfriend enjoys it when she "feels" like a woman.
I'm really a guy, but I'm told I have quite a girlish figure. I cross-dressed once, and barely anyone could tell the difference. Heck, one person almost hit on me
Showing feeling is not a feminin trait. Its a human trait over all. You sound like a compleatly normal human being. The image you talk about is the Image on tv. I dont know too many people that take that to heart.
Being feminin would be like.. well to explain it simply.. like most gay men are. Well, the way we think they are anyways. Its because we associate that behavior with women that we precive them as gay, even if they are not. the limp wrist pink silk shirt and using typicly female speach and manurisums.
Tho.. that bit about being dominent in bed making you "feel like a man" and her "feel like a woman" could possibly be concidered offensive to some. Like the entire feminist movement. Your role in bed really has no bearing on you having feminin traits.
...unless that role in bed is to cross dress while your girlfriend uses a strap on on you. That may be a sign to speak to a counseler.
I think its safe to say your 100 percent male. and no one would confuse that. You know your male, they know your male, and there is no confusion on the issue. I think the intent of the topic starter was to find out how many people actaully thought that they were feminin.. not a trait here or there.. but strait up, hey I was born in the wroung freaking body level. People who see a girl in a dress and and think about how cute the dress is and wonder where they got it before thinking how attractive she is. that sort of thing.
abeit, those are two extreams. Jon could possibly fall in between the two. (come to think of it the poll should have had a not sure awnser) Tho I cant say much for you as you just mentioned what you look like. Now if you ENJOYED wearing that dress and that someone almost hit on you, that would probobly fall in the mentaly feminin. If it was as a frat prank dont do it again.. your breaking hearts :P
Well I think Ive ranted on too long now.. Hope I didnt offent anyone, I didnt mean to. I just wanted to clear up the reason behind this thread a bit more.. and your guys post are right at the bottom so I used them as a bit of an example.
Male period.
And I subscribe to the pragmatist's simple view of what constitutes gender differences: A male has a male genitalia, and females the corresponding genitalia. (Unfortunately, this doesn't work on hermaphrodites and intersexuals). ^^;;;;
Allow to introduce myself.
I am a man of wealth and taste (*), and sensibililty.
This don't makes me feminine or whatever else...
But is the world obliges male and female to perform a role as in theatre... ;014
The world it is bad and insane, and it wants we all being tough and rude, both male and female, and this fact makes us loose our sensibility...
But I am proud of being sensible with my neighboroud one by understanding his/her feelings, I am proud of being cute with animals and sweet with the women I encounter.
And I am fighting to stop the world from taking away the control of my feelings or my sensibility.
And perhaps I just like the fact that us men in this new century have the chance to cry, if we want to.
You may didn't have noticed it, but it is a great conquest for us male.
And perhaps I just like the fact that in this new century women could be rude if they want to.
It is another conquest, but for the female.
And I like the fact that gays, lesbians and transexuals have the opportunity to come out and live in the sunlight.
A lesbian or a gay or a transgender could be my friends if they are fine persons.
But certainly there is a thing that I dislike:
People being arse and trivial, and persons being cruel with animals and violent with childs.
I really hate them.
I must really admit that I like only women who are rude but with style but no in any way being arse.
If there is a thing that makes me turn and going away it is a woman being feminine but without style, or worse finding a woman being arse.
(*) = Yes. These are the same words used by "V" to introduce him...self.

Physically male, mentally... half and half. Always get called a girl cause I apparently look like one. That might be a reason for the mental part.
hence why i said we shoudl have had a half and half option
This thread... is one of the strangest yet...
Yes. -_- we have some odd topics.. but this one is pretty odd.. and it was dead for a long time till recently.
Brought back from the dead for what reason!? Oh well... I'm sure stranger things exist than gender uhh...
I dont know.. some dirty necro poster posted in it after a long long time. It was originaly posted by a transgender member that wanted to find others and see how tolerent we were of them
So umm... how tolerant are we of them?
Quote from: "Triple8"So umm... how tolerant are we of them? That's naturally for everyone to decide, but I'd like to point out that hateful posts towards any minority group won't be tolerated. Opinions are allowed, but flaming/bashing is not. ^^ Me? I love people. ^_^

"Physically a marklar, mentally a marklar/marklar" wasn't in the choices so I picked Physically a male, mentally a man/boy
i just choked on my food you dick -_-
Hell, I'm sure I've heard that before somewhere...but i can't remember where, so i'll just associate it with "Blarg" for the moment.
Honk honk Blarg honk blarg?
Okay enough of that sillyness, back on subject people. Ill see about getting Marklar put on the options -_-
a male with a man's mind, still a boy though XD
Yeah, I'm a man with a man's mind, but a bit of a man/boy with what I guess is a deeply internalized male/female/boy's mind. I don't think I really conform to sexual and gender stereotypes. I'm an odd assortment.
I'm a girl. I'm a tomboy, but i'm definitely still a girl. i would not want to be a guy.
Wow, this place is just full of guys, huh? Yup, I'm a dude, but I don't think like the rest of them.

Post pix plz...
(d'ya catch the reference? ^-^)
The internet is divided. In a LOT of ways. Some ways are bad, stupid and unfunny crap, while some ways are good, funny and filled with general awesome. But the girl/boy one isn't one of the awesome ones, unfortunately. The awesome list is filled with stuff like, PIE/CAKE, Ninja/Pirate, boybands/metal, stupids/people-who-use-grammar-correctly-but-still-are-kinda-dull/morons/people-who-actually-have-thoughts/marvins. AND SO ON.
Divisions by gender is one thing i'd like to disappear, especially on the Net. Boys suck, because they don't realize. Well, most don't. (yes i still discriminate my own gender)

MODERATOR EDIT
Since this isnt an image thread, Ive taken the liberty of removing IMG tags. Also, take the yaoi elsewhere please -_- this thread it for gender issues.[/color]
Point 1. I may be a master of extreme sarcasm, but Kyon is sarcasm and witty comments personified. And sarcasm rules all.
Point 2. That is not Yaoi. Very good raw material though...
Point 3. I think the cap'n pretty much clarified 'wrong thread 4 /y/' already, get it?
Sorry if i'm being rude, but i'm a nervous wreck for my finals tomorrow.
(Also no yaoi thread until that is over, at least not by me ;))
I am male, mentally male, but I tend to feel comfortable with females due to the fact that they flock towards me in time of need (like when they get dumped, need love advice, "is my butt too big?" etc etc.) and because I understand the female mind more than the average guy, It just seems that since I understand girls, I get more respect from them, and they stand up for me.
-Kyo-Chan
Male, mentally male, just a soft type.As in i prefer beauty and romace rather gore and violence. i like beautiful things.....
I'm physically male. Mentally... A little more feminine than masculine, so I guess maybe girl?
Physically Male, Mentally a Man/Boy.
Yep ^_^
Though I tend to be a bit gentle at times and enjoy the beauty in life.

Quote from: "greyfish"Male, mentally male, just a soft type.As in i prefer beauty and romace rather gore and violence. i like beautiful things..... I find gore and violence beautiful, ever see a Tarantino movie? In all seriousness, I'm glad to see we're getting more members of the fairer sex here... it was turning into a sausage-fest. To clarify, it's not as if I want to date anyone here, it's just great that there's plenty of variety here. Plus, now there's even more people to offend with my borderline sexist humor (that is, if the Cap'n doesn't beat me to it). It's just jokes y'all.
I'm a Man, I like boobs so therefore I am mentally a man as well (lol I'm lechorous)
Quote from: "Gussy Keniji"I'm a Man, I like boobs so therefore I am mentally a man as well (lol I'm lechorous) Interesting, I too am lecherous and like boobs, but I wouldn't consider myself completely male (as in mentally masculine). I'd say I'm a little hypermasculine to the point of immaturity, at the same time I'm just a little feminine, too... that is, I'm in touch with emotions, but other peoples' not mine :p... I think I speak to people.
QuotePlus, now there's even more people to offend with my borderline sexist humor (that is, if the Cap'n doesn't beat me to it). Am I really that bad? The military lifestyle is a lot harder to shake then originally thought -_- I used to be kind sweet and gentle, I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. The military, or at least marine infantry, has a way of corrupting the most pure individuals, kind of like /b/. One of my friends was a preacher’s son, choir boy, and a missionary before the marines. I now have footage of him quite graphically talking about how he would eat a girls @$$ in a bar in Bahrain. Plus all of my sexist jokes are well jokes and meant in the most loving way. Anyhow, time to make a post I've been putting off for some time. Mostly because I don’t think anyone will believe me due to the reputation I seem to have developed around here. Maybe it will also help clarify what the starter of this thread intended. The starter of this thread was a physically male mentally female person. The medical term (yes it does have one, its a legit medical condition) is “gender dysphoria†or transsexual. The quote unquote "girl trapped in a mans body." Not to be confused with transvestite, drag queen, cross dresser, homosexual, gender bender (BTW, Nejin, if your reading this, making Kyon a girl isn’t gender bending, its gender reversal. gender benders are people who break socially accepted gender roles, such as a guy with a beards wearing a dress), etc.. The difference is that for all of those, it’s a sexual thing. That’s how they get their kicks. For transsexuals it’s their gender identity (personally I think transsexual is a bad term, I’d say transgender myself, but I don’t write medical text books) Transsexualizum has nothing to do with a persons sexual preference, rather their sense of self and their gender role. It doesn’t matter if they are straight, gay, bi, lesbian, or other sexual fetish or attraction, its how they see themselves in every aspect of their lives. For a transsexual they ARE the other sex, just no one can see it. Its gods cruel joke on them. They don’t just act a little feminine or masculine (wussy or tomboy) but they truly wish they were the other sex. The condition is a life long, you’re born with it. On top of that there is no "cure," mentally at least. You are who you are, and you cannot change that no matter how hard you try. You can learn to play the part, act like what you’re expected to act like, but it won’t change what you want/wish/think. When a fetus is growing, it develops sense of self and its actual gender at separate times. If all goes well they will match up as 98% of people do, the unlucky others are doomed to a life of being different. I’ve read that some children with the condition, in their young naivety, believe that when they reach puberty the problem will fix itself. For them puberty is a nightmare as their body continually changes further and further from what they think it should. In extreme cases they cant even bare to see themselves naked and shower in the dark because to them, it’s not their body. It’s a horrible nasty condition that causes deep anger, depression and resentment. It attracts hate from all those who fear that which is different from them. This causes most to adopt a persona for the world. They pick what ever their gender is supposed to be and then act like a stereotypical version of that sex. A male to female transsexual girl (or MTF for short) for example would probably grow a beard, become a construction worker/mechanic/cop/soldier and basically do everything they can to convince the world they are what they aren’t to avoid the hate and scrutiny. Some go as far as to get a wife and children and a white picket fence, live the “dream†so no one will be the wiser. Or they take high risk jobs, such as say… military Special Forces and volunteer for the most high risk missions. Either they will convince people they are the manliest of men or they will die and not have to deal with it anymore. Or alternatively, a FTM may become a fashion model make up artist or some distinctly female job to again, fool the world to avoid ridicule. As I said before, there is no cure mentally. No amount of psychiatric help will make them feel like what they were born. The only “cure†for these individuals is to change themselves physically. To you 4chaners, they would be the traps. Just usually, the good traps. A good (or lucky) transsexual is the one not peg for a trap in a million years. Since they ARE what they are dressed at (minus the genitals) they blend seamlessly into society and don’t draw attention to themselves. Transvestites are the ones that people normally mistake for transsexuals. They are the ones where you’re like “OMG THERE IS A GUY WEARING A DRESS!!†Many transsexuals blend so well if they ever tell anyone what they really are physically (or used to be if they get a sexual reassessment surgery) no one believes them. The transsexuals that get spotted usually are in transition (from what they were born to what they intend to be) and they don’t quite pass yet. I know it may frighten some straight guys that claim they could spot a trap easy, but yes, chances are you may have checked out some already. This seems to be the only way to fix themselves and feel happy about whom they are. No one known has learned to be who they were born and was happy. Least, well I guess we wouldn’t know since they would never tell you. But many transsexuals are 60+ before they finally seek help and admit, yes they are indeed miserable and living a lie and want to fix it. Unfortunately for them they usually have 60 year or more of friends, family, and other ties that make things complicated. Kind of hard to tell your wife of 20 years that you were the one that wanted to wear the wedding dress on wedding night (although, its kind of funny, I’ve heard more understanding wives say after that “that explains why he always had such good taste in girls clothes and was always buying them for me†because well they were probably living vicariously though their wife.) Still I think that 60 years is far too long to be miserable with your life. Now, getting to the point of this rant of mine (besides clarifying that those of you that feel you are sensitive or like beautiful thing are, but the poles intention, not mentally female) Those perceptive types may have already figured it out… I am biologically male, mentally female. I am a MTF transsexual. (Oh god I’m turning into mootkins -_-) That’s right, the Cap’n, the loud mouth male chauvinist pig (no offence c-chan) is in fact, a girl. I suppose a little explanation and apology is in order. Please forgive the little rant about my personal life after this point. Normally Id rather not talk this in detail with people I’ve never actually met about such private personal matters, but I’ve come to really like the people on this forum and Id rather not leave, but I’d also rather not lie to you all about who I am or adopt a new account and pretend I’m not the person you already know. (Like I could conceal it, with my eccentric tendencies and obsessive love of 3.1 and Suigintou) Which leave me in the situation of doing a very embarrassing public “coming out.†I was advised by a wise and good friend on the forum not to do thus, but as I said, I don’t want to lie to you peeps. However, I didn’t feel it was necessary to create a separate topic for it. Hopefully, you all will come to accept me for who I’m trying to be and mention of what I used to be will disappear into the past posts and new members don’t really need to know. Like I said, passing is also being subtle and not waving the fact around. First off, the apology I mentioned. I feel terribly sorry for any hurt feelings that anyone had from my male chauvinist remarks. Like I said, it’s a learned habit from the military that I’m trying hard to shake. (I’ve only been out for like 8 months now don’t you know) Especially the jokes about “no girls on the internets†and the like that I know Kami-tux was especially offended by. I know I’ve made a lot of “trap†jokes as well and the like. They were, as I said earlier, simply jokes and well… cover story. While I was still pretending to be male, the last person to be accused of being a girl or trap would be the one that is always making jokes about them. I made offensive jokes as a cover story to avoid ridicule, and again, for that I am sorry. Now some explanation… As some of you are still trying to put the pieces together because at first it doesn’t seem to make sense. I like I mentioned before, have always even as a little kid, wanted nothing more then to be a girl. Heck, I picked on my little sister as kids because I was so jealous/envious of how she was treated or the things she was given. Before high school I was the quiet geek wearing plain clothes sitting in the back of the class and talked to no one. Gentle as can be, loved cats and romance stories and all that. Heck the GI Joes my parents bought me I played house with my sister and her Barbies (they were the insanely tall wives of the brave soldiers!). It was in high school I decided to try to “lean to be a guy†by joining the most manly of professions, the United States Marine Corps, and to top it of, insisted on infantry even though I tested well enough to be a military nuclear engineer. I spent 5 years in the military, trying to be as hardcore rough and tough as you can be. I seem to have learned to play the part pretty well because even online I have a reputation of being the male chauvinist. It was all an act, well most of it. I did develop an obsession with guns (though even as a kid my idols were the strong girls with guns such as Samus Aran, or Riply from Aliens. Weak screaming defenseless girls bug me a bit -_-) About 3 years in I met a transsexual that had transitioned and only after she told me did I find out she was born male. I was shocked. I had believed from childhood that there was no way on this earth I could ever be a girl, so why try? I talked to her for about a year and a half more before I was willing to admit to even myself, that yes indeed everything she told me about transsexuals was me. I think that was pretty close to when I joined the forums. Of course I joined the forums as a guy, since I posted from a computer in the barracks and all that, and have just continued to portray that image of me here online, even though since it’s the internet, I never had to. Only within the last year and a half did I decide that I really have no desire to live out my life lying to others and to myself to live the “normal†easy life. Id much rather have just been born normal, even as a guy, lived a normal life. But I am who I am and now I’m trying to make other people see that. As you all are part of my life currently and a part I enjoy very much, that’s why I’m sharing this embarrassing story with you all. Please bear with me as I attempt to shake off 5 years of military and the trained behaviors it gave me as I begin transitioning to a kinder gentler me. For the time being I’ll keep my name as it is the “cap’n†as well women can be cap’ns too. Ill spare you all a picture of me, but I’m told I’m a pretty freaking cute girl ^_^ Well, I hope all of this makes sense to you all and hasn’t freaked or weirded you out. If for whatever reason you have a problem with it, please, in PM, bring the matter to me instead of a public flaming. I will gladly listen to your concerns. If you feel this effects my judgment as a mod or will undermine my authority as a mod, also let me know. I will step down and give it over to Aurora completely until a replacement can be found. Authority is derived from trust and this could affect some peoples trust in my ability to do a good job. If you would like to discuss it in this thread, that’s fine, just don’t drag it all around the forum. The fewer reminders left for noobs, or me to see, the better. If you have any further questions about transsexualisum I’ll be happy to answer them in thread or PM as well. Oh and I guess my obsession with 3.1sama would seem a bit weird now being a girl. Ill just remind everyone about my “I’m a lesbian trapped in a mans body†joke I made when this thread started. Well, I was serious. Well not totally. I like guys but still think man smex is gross so I didn’t mention it before (damn you lily! You have forced Kyon away from the straight path! Bring him back!). But as a girl, thinking male character are cute is alright. *sits and stares and waits*
First off, I never pegged you as being truly male chauvinist, Cap'n. Really, I just thought you were being offensive in general (in a joking manner, of course), as I tend to be (although it's never really come out in this forum). I was never aware your sexist comments truly offended anyone - I thought they were understood as being all in jest.
Damn though, if this one post isn't a total mind-blower. I have to admit my opinion of transsexuals hasn't always been the most positive, but since coming to this forum I've been exposed to such a wide bevy of peoples that I have to say my opinion has totally changed. In a sense, I can relate, but in a very indirect sense. You see, my story has more to do with religion than anything else and I would love to share it, but given that it's totally off-topic I won't go on about in here. Anyway, let's just say I grew up not knowing much about myself either and now find myself living a lie. I remember reading a similar story from a user named panda, and that really got me to thinking and gave me a chance to re-evaluate my thinking (believe or not, it's something I enjoy having the opportunity to do). I know pouring out one's emotions like this in a forum is often times frowned upon, but it really feels like we have a pretty tight-knit community in here and we help each other out. So I don't know if having such personal discussions is so bad. I could go on forever like this, but to sum things up, I'm glad you've come to terms with this Cap'n. While what I think may not matter, I just thought you should know you have my full support. Also, I don't believe your situation should have any bearing on your position either. I kind of lost track of everything I wanted to say, but I hope my message has still came through clear.
P.S. I may have misunderstood some of what you said in your post about replies and where to direct them, if you feel this post would cause problems with keeping a lid on your business, I'll take no offense if you delete it.
edit: I forgot to mention, I understand how a post like this could cause some major heat for some users. For sticking your neck out like this, you have earned major major respect from me... for what that's worth.

Like I said, passing is also being subtle and not waving the fact around. I never thought that you were a chauvinist in any way, I took what you call jokes as jokes. ^^ I may have stated that I have more feminine tendencies myself. Sometimes I have this feeling that people think I'm gay... but I'm straight. Just a really sensitive straight guy. hah Nothing wrong with being gay, mind. If anyone's ever heard of the Myers-Briggs personality test, I consistently end up being typed as INFP in online tests, which is exactly the opposite of what modern Western society would call an ideal man, an ESTJ. (INFP=Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving; ESTJ=Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) (A good description of the INFP: http://www.geocities.com/lifexplore/infp.htm It's a bit long, but I relate a lot to what is said in that.) What I find interesting is that only 1% of the male population type as INFP... makes for a lonely world when few people can see the things the way you do. But.... you adapt, somehow. But I digress. Quote from: "CaptBrenden" First off, the apology I mentioned. I feel terribly sorry for any hurt feelings that anyone had from my male chauvinist remarks. Haha.... interesting. cuz... you're not the only one who played house with sisters involving barbie dolls... ^^; And I did have thoughts that I should have been born a girl. I never felt that I fit in with people back in elementary/middle school. I was the awkward, nerdy, nice guy. Never really made good friends during that time in my life. In high school, I found a group of similarly nerdy people with whom I could be myself. That was the turning point in my life. Quote from: "CaptBrenden" I spent 5 years in the military, trying to be as hardcore rough and tough as you can be. *sits and stares and waits* well, sir, you're a good guy. And I think it's pretty cool that you're sharing this. I'm a very accepting person, sometimes to a fault. ^^; SleepyD has no problem with this post and believes you should keep your position as a mod. In fact, I think this post makes you more qualified to be a mod.... can't really put into words why.... a feeling I guess. ehe ^^;
Welcome to society, my friend. ^_^
However, I have one objection. T_T Drag queen isn't a sexual term; drag queen is by definition a man who dresses extravagantly feminine (eg. as part of a drag show or competition, usually humorous), not intending to a) pass as a woman or b) hit on anyone. Similar term for a woman who dresses up as a guy for performance is of course a drag king. :p Well, the definitions can always be argued about. ^^;
Nevertheless, congratulations for your courage, Captain! I have to admit, reading your post made me shake. You're one of those kick-ass girls yourself! ^__^
Oh, one more thing: not a valid reason for resignation, so don't even think about it. ;)
I have to say that's incredible brave of you, Captain. I really admire, but would never, ever, expect, that kind of openness...You just gained a ton of respect in my mind.
I've met chauvinists before; (while I don't believe in hate,) I dislike them with an utmost passion. And let me tell you, they think women are below their level, almost subhuman. A few jokes do not make you a chauvinist, and I never thought such of you.
Well. I believe I heard this (not as elaborate, though) as well from you WAY back over private in the IRC channel, so it's not as shocking for me, I guess. (Too bad I can't find the log file - or was I clumsy enough NOT to log it? Ah nevermind, but I do think it was some back in spring, april perhaps.) As thus, with that knowledge in the back of my head, I've never been able to think of you as a chauvinist of any kind. While I have been having idealistic and subjective conflicts with you on other subjects, some things remain deep-down, and some things touch me deeply as well. And truth be said: If I was gay (now I ain't - I think - but apparently a lot of people THINK I am), I would have hurriedly hoisted my rainbow flag this very moment and openly started my journey on the great seas with it raised. (As said, though, I am not, so let's leave that aside for now.) Also I would like to quote Pitkin-dono: Reading your post made me shake. Of pride.
With all that being said, I have two last things to proclaim: First of all, I hope we see more of this side of you - liking it more and more already! - in the future.
Secondly... Welcome back, Milady.

That's yous soft side guys... I got the same thing (only I'd cry seeing an animal die like in the Lion King, when a human dies I tend to get really unsensitive and cynical)
there is a difference between being sensitive and feminin :P
And the difference is called... TESTOSTERONE. Aka, teenager hormone. XD
If you have ever seen a hot babe and thought "Hell, yeah! I'd bang her brains out, anytime!" Then it's pretty safe to say that your a man, through and through...So you could still have a pretty feminine, sensitive side, but thats just part of the whole'.....
naw, :P gender identity has nothing to do with sexual preference. Now if you enjoy having a shlong and dont weaing pretty dresses chances are your mentaly a male. If you see a hot girl and feel envy wishing YOU could wear that outfit and not be laughed at or had a body like hers, then you might be mentaly female.
Hmmmmmmm, good point... Better way of explaining what I actually meant....
ITT: Deep Thought
Now were does Earth and White Mice come into this, I wonder? XD
Well...If you tend to skip of the earths surface and if you have white mice following you around, you're probably a man, with a woman mind....
Does not compute. HOW?
Yeeaaahhhh....My warped, duch logic has found a way to calculate that from those symptoms...But if that happens to you a lot, there's other problems to worry about.....
Oh I've got worse problems than that, don't worry.
...somehow, that sounds a bit wrong... >_>
Well...I haven't seen such a case so I can't prove it wrong...ergo: it must be right...:D same as Uncyclopedia's claiming the fact that cats rule the world...
they rule my apartment at the very least.
yeah, i know what you mean... i've got an 18 year old cat still ruling the place...
I am a tentacle monster trapped in a school girls body... but they didn't have that option, and I figure boy is the closest thing to a tentacle monster... o-o But I'm a nice, non-raping sort of tentacle monster...

I think its time you upgrade from Diana-san to Berreta-san *hands .50 SASR to toki*
But as a note, thats prolly the first word that comes to mind when someone says tentical monster and little girls :p
great job outgunning me, but you live in a country where you can have a firearm at home (we just get to do target-practice with bb-guns and (x-)bows) *sticks his tongue out, anime-style; mweeeh...lol*
Well, I'm rather well off without every next man having a tool that's quite capable of killing me, actually.
They're not to be used for killing and/or pointing at things/ppl you don't want broken/killed/hurt... First rule of weapons..... (too bad some people don't follow that rule)
thread is derailing fast...
however on both subjects: I think its a great thing for girls to be able to carry something to defend themselves when they obviously cant overpower their oponent with brute strength. Id recomend every girl carry atleast an advanced tazer. A small handgun in the purse may be just the ticket too.
I guess. But "DON'T TAZE ME BRO!" is still fresh in my mind, so I still think that mostly it's a result of big brother Paranoia... I don't need stuff like that anyway, since I carry with me my 5k1llZ all teh tiem, yo. *ego*
"dont taze me bro" guy wouldnt have been tazed if he had left peacefully when he was asked to. If he had been calm, asked his questions in a peaceful controled manner, etc.. then they wouldnt have asked him to leave, and then he wouldnt have resisted, then they wouldnt have had to drag his ass out and tase him. Ive never seen a video where someone got a taser from a cop that didnt bring it upon themselves.
Plus, tasers are THE safest force meathod a cop can use. Pepper spray, hand to hand, baton, rush tactics, etc all cause far more injury to cops and the suspect then the taser. the taser saves lives. Its the PERFECT option for a girl who wants to take her safety into her own hands but not risk the life of her attacker.
Plus you get to play with things that are 'lectric. -w- If I had a tazer I'd probably try it out on myself once, just to see what kick you get out of it. XD
Added after 55 seconds:
(yes, I get high on electricity. Don't ask. I don't know why!)
:P I got tased at work for qualification (to be an expert witness, so i can explain in a court of law exactly what it does and that I knew what I was doing and used it reasonably based on that)
it hurt, but after, i was like THIS IS AWSOME!!
I cant wait for mine to get here.
Oh advanced taser now sells one that doesnt look like a gun, comes with a MP3 player holster and has colored or patterned covers for it.. so you get get a leapord spotted taser :3 it would match mah purse

the randomness is spreading -_- please mention SOMETHING about boys, girls, or gender when in this subject.. like my gearing the tazer conversation to how they can defend a girl etc..
I'm trying to, but I still have an enormously outdated view on ladies and how gentlemen should be handling these precious creatures....
:P please, do share
Well, I still believe that ladies are precious beings that a gentleman should care for, while still granting her her freedom. A gentleman should respect a lady and her qualities and he must help her if those qualities prove to be inadequate or inapropriate for the situation, doing so a gentleman should assist in such a way as not to harm the lady's self esteem. He must protect her against everything he can protect her from unless she wants no protection from it or is she wants to protect herself from it. A gentleman should stay loyal to his partner, as such he can expect the lady to be loyal to him... And a gentleman should always remember that a lady is a gift to us from god/nature (whatever you might believe) and thus we should be grateful they exist...
Added after 2 minutes:
ooh! and very, VERY important: A gentleman should never hurt a lady, physically nor mentally! (in case of self defence: your not talking about a lady then, so you may neutralize her with the minimal amount of violence possible)
;__; I don't like guns. I don't like being in the same room as them, letting alone touching them. Just thinking about holding one and perhaps pointing it at someone makes me sad. I've been in alot of scary bad situations, but I never once thought that a gun or a tazer would make it better.
Well talking usually helps around civilized people... and i like guns/(x-)bows for the technical and artistic craftmanship...
Yeah... guns are pretty spiffy craftmanship-wise. I do like them aestetically. But it's like asian prostitutes... so pretty... yet so... wrong ;__;
true, true...
Ive never heard guns compaired to asian prostitutes before.. if we still had our random quote banner at the top of the page that would go on it...

*pats the tentical monster on the head* I guess that answers the old question of what sex tentical monsters are.. i always thought they were male :P
Well, I don't think we really have a gender. o.o I do have these strange urges to sleep all day and eat everything.
and most to sex up anime girls.. but your the exeption X3
Well, I get that urge too, but since they're not real, it's not really an option... o.o;

im teh mab
I'm a guy, but wanna cosplay as a girl someitmes
physically female, mentally genderless. <D
That reminds me, coming up with cosplays for me is hard-damn impossible...I mean, no good male characters have waist-length hair these days, and I can hardly hide all that beneath a wig if I want to keep my sanity, now can I.
Life's hard for the long-haired. -.-
I agree. I also have long hair and cannot get it to stay under a wig no matter how hard I try!
That post sounds awfully familiar, Nej... Good to see you still have your hair...:D
I once had nice 'n long hair...Right up till the moment i found out hair and gas-burning stoves dont mix well...
I WEEP'D
Well, i actually screamed a couple of profanities and grabbed a towel...
I GRIEVE FOR YOUR LOSS, SMOKEY. SERIOUSLY.
Yeah, it's a darn shame... Now nobody can enjou that lush hair anymore... :(
OS-tan collections.. if we arnt off topic, the end of the world has come...
Quotethe end of the world has come... Oh, that? Hey, don't sweat it, we've endured that a few times. -w- I guess.
Well, long hair is sort of gender related...In a role-model-stereotype-kinda way
hair and clothes are two things that should be, and mostly are, gender neutral.
as for you people, men with long hair?? 0_0 .............sexy.......
don't shun the hair! it be awesome! i've known many a dude with longer hair. (the male-type person i plan to force into a shotgun wedding when the two of us come of age has shoulder-length blonde hair. :3 )
wait.....it's longer than mine! cool! xD
Awesome, a shotgun-weddin'.... It be usually the pappie organisin' such things... ;010
by shotgun wedding do you mean your going to hold him at gun point untill he does it? :P
I personaly disagree about hair tho. I personaly dont like the long haired pretty boy look. Guys look best with short hair. Its stylish and tactical :P
And some clothes are neutral, but some arent. Dresses and the like, skirts, frilly things, arent usually accepted on guys by society in majority. Heck it usually brings hate and ridicule.
Quotetactical You're boring, captain. -,-
well since i have my hair short again, i do get mistaken for a girl a lot less... :D
Well, I'm a girl.
Nothing much to say except I have short black hair because I got it buzzcut in the summer. I can't say I'm a girly girl because I'm not.
I've never had long hair before, not that I didn't want it, but I'd usually get nagged into getting a trim whenever it approached neck-length. Of course, there's also the problem of my hair growth slowing whenever it reaches a certain length, but I guess due to my ever-thinning hair having it long would probably look awful anyway. All in all, I envy the long-haired, but I'll stick to covering mine under a beanie.
Also, shotgun weddings, those are real... at least here in the south -__-. Proof positive that abstinence-only education = FAIL.
There's female in this forum... confirmed!!
I'm shocked!! ;015
But this forum is about os-tan and such... then i guess only boys like this kind of topic!
It seems i'm wrong about it.... ^_^
Hey, both Aurora and Bella are girls too, and they're two of the heaviest contributors around here. The rules of the internet do not apply here. -w-
Rules.....like-eeh stereotypes? :D
DELIVERY. (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g239/NejinOniwa/TheRulesoftheInternet.gif) Particularly, rules 28, 29 and 37 in this case.
Rule 34, however, applies to everything...eventually.
ah, and do we abide to rule 47, or is it a stereotype...?
Nah, that's just for the /v/irgins, you know. -w-
sure it is....
heey. rule 37 does not apply!! (wait, maybe it does, since in every format except physical i lack a gender.)
long hair=seexy in my book.
i HAD long hair......in 2nd grade. since then it only got shorter. (right now my sister's is shorter; she buzz-cutter herself last year so right now she looks like some sort of activist. *coughcoughsterotypecough* i look like windows 2k hairwise. i think i'd need to be maybe a cup size bigger to be equal, since height, body type, ect. are already taken care of. (I AM THE ENVY OF MIDDLE-AGED WOMEN EVERYWHERE! I EAT NOTHING BUT JUNK AND I ACTUALLY LOSE WEIGHT!! THE AMAZING JUNK DIET!!)
ohh, and as for the shotgun wedding, yes. i plan to locate a shotgun and force him to. :3 (i'm planning on becoming a justice of the peace next year, so i probably could perform the ceremony.) i already have a few friends helping me. =D oh, and abiding by rule 50, DESUDESUDESU *_*;
my hair is beautiful and blue~ *sparklies*
I ALSO CAN EAT EVERYTHING WHILE NOT GAINING ANYTHING!!!!!
but i need to gain a pound or four....
sweet!
but considering my lack of a self esteem says i'm fat, (it would say so if i was dying from starvation, probably becuase i would have a distended belly :\ ) you want some poundage? i could see if i could upload it as a file attachment. :3
LOL, if 'twere possible...
if it were i'd send it to those starving african kids.
If it were I'd send it to Putin.

if, that were possible i'd send a lot of things to a lot of places where the sun don't shine... :D
actually, i'd send it to angel's ass. >:]

Anyhow, we are straying off the topic of gender identity here
true... This man with man-thoughts (sounds like a head full of beer :D) agrees...:D
Uhh... Did I miss out on something here? o_o
Back on-topic, I'm female (Yes, there ARE girls on the internetz!) but I mind is close to gender-neutral :-/
why did i know you're a girl if you're just telling it now???
Freaky....
If you missed anything, it really wasnt important i think.
I have to say, the "gender neutral" girls are the ones that tend to use the net, I dont know too many girly girls that do. One of my good good friends from highschool who is big into computers and such (infact, i found out the other day she was on the crew that designed the "avatars" for xbox live) and she trys to be androgenous. Shes complained a couple of times about how shes develouping hips etc...
meanwhile im shaking a fist in jealousy over her complaining about it...
and smokey, prolly cus everyone is using female pronouns for her?
and most of us have seen her DA, its listed on there im pretty sure
Ah, but there is a girly female sitting next to me (my sis, don't get any veird ideas) who bought an eeePC just to be able to get online more...
BTW i'm saying girly, but not that much, now i think of it...
There are a lot of girly-girls on the internet but they are more likely to visit sites such as MySpace T__T
I didnt say they dont use it, tho the ones ive seen tend to be using it for social networking.. chat, myspace/facebook. Again, these are generalities, but when you see a girl that can debug code, write websites, etc... they tend not to be girly girls.

Did the Demon eat my post?
what post??
Maybe. I eat many things. How so?
Gah, you see I typed this post about how great it was every thread was going OT for the day. Then I proceeded to go all Freudian explaining the whole "Social Networking Users vs. Regular Internet Users" thing. It was all very thought-provoking and funny and I could've sworn I posted it here and now it's gone. Perhaps I misclicked or something, yeesh my head hurts from trying to follow all these posts, ha.
*pats head* There, there. It happens to us all.
crap, that sounded like a good post...
So for brevity's sake, and since it feels like Canti is about to grow from my head, I will just shorten what I said earlier. Basically you have this group of people who simply treat online interaction as merely an extension of their real life, so they post every little tidbit about themselves on a profile and detail every boring event with a blog. On the other end of the spectrum, you have people who mainly use forums as a way to interact online (or for some people interact, period) and appreciate the anonymity it affords them. Of course, there is room for overlap, but I think this serves the best generalization for them.
Oh and while does strain my brain, it amuses me when things go OT like this, hahaha.
only social interaction is online = FAIL

I'm a guy
And I like cute things
I still thinking about it o_O... but I guess left options:
Physically a female, mentally a man/boy+woman/girl Physically a male, mentally a man/boy+woman/girl
well, I think this ^^...
uhh...
there is not bisexual or asexuality... or neutral.....
no one interests these position?
Eh guess the person that made the poll didnt think to add Androgenous to the list, which is the neutral term for gender. bisexual is a sexual preference tho, not a gender or physical sex, and asexual (and i think you mean asexuality, not asexual reproduction) is also a preference as defined by wiki: QuoteAsexuality is sometimes considered a sexual orientation describing individuals who do not experience sexual attraction,[1][2] experience little or no sexual attraction,[3] or lack interest in or desire for sex.[4] Sometimes it is considered a lack of sexual orientation. [5] One commonly cited study placed the incidence rate of asexuality at 1% The poll itself is about your gender orientation, not your sexual orientation.
Male/man for me. Though I woulda thought that was abvious by now...
Well, mentaly maybe, we could hardly check the other :P
You know guys, ever since I was tricked and forced into RPing a Guy that turns into a girl I feel mentally tortured by this question.... Ugh... though I.... Nevermind.... X_x
tricked, sure ;p
Jk! Jk!
I think everyone has thought once or twice what it would be like to be the other sex, some more then others, but I think the original intention of the poll was for people to pick what they feel they ARE. There are people out there that feel so strongly that their body is wrong it causes them sever mental distress, and its more these people the poll was intended.
Actually since I'm idiot to those things I get easily mentally confused, but maybe because I have been with girls more than guys make me think like that....
heh, well i personaly dont think that is overly true. I hung out with alot of guys in the military. Violent macho testosterone machines, and as where my poor innocent mind has suffered permenently for it, and Ive developed quite the dirty mouth and such, I dont feel any more male. You prolly just had an affinity for female thought, at least to some degree from the begining which is why you gravatated to hanging out with girls.
Hahaha... now I feel like Kanji Tatsumi of Persona 4, though I've been crazy like this for a while I guess I just take some things too seriously... X_x
Yep yep... I like girls, but my mind is a mix between female/male characters ^x^...

Okay I'm forwarding you to the standard IT questions: *musters Irish accent* Have you tried turning it off then on again? Are you sure it's plugged in? Pardon, I'm only kidding. Seriously though, have you guys got javascript disabled? Are you getting any error messages from the Control Panel? Are you getting any feedback from the Control Panel? What exactly is happening when you change sigs? QuoteI just realized that IanDan-kun was teasing me. What a meanie >.>; That's just what I do... please don't be offended, li yo... btw. I thought you said the problem was solved Cockle o__O?
Hyuu... I can see it when I visit my profile page o_o Of course, all of this is happening because I'm a woman. * goes back to kitchen *
Tee hee, ii yo ne~
AHA, you've both been using Quick Reply!
Obvious solution is obvious -__-...
EDIT: [facepalm]Not so obvious, I can still see my own sig (I just quick replied).[/facepalm] Oh and we are really, really OT...
What the hell is going on here?
I am pretty guilty of using quick reply for 90% of my posts... It's... quick.
I WANT A SIGNATURE ;O;
In your control panel, you can tick a box that enables your sig to be posted automatically when you reply, even quickreply...
Ok.. I tried that. Let's see if it works~ edot: YAAAY -dances all over her keyboard- dsjndfjkglsdfg
Please don't make it too big..... ^_^!
Small is better!
Cute is better!

Confused o.o
Yeah, he confuses me too...
I'm a girl ^_^
I wasn't talking about you, silly.
Indeed you are . _ . and tentacle monster
I think she's a shapeshifter... it seems she's something different everyday.
Tomorrow I want to be a sea slug!
Osaka: Go team sea slug!!
just dont fire your internal organs at us plz
HEYHEYHEY Who's copying me >:0
Eh? o.o
Dewd, we're so off topic that I forgot the topic.
I was on topic! On topic!!
Yeah, but that was 8 posts ago :P.
You really counting that? What a sharp person you are.... ;015
Counting is easy o.o I learned how last week.
Ah, this is where most mods would be in ban hammer rage <_< dun go changing this to topicless 3 now
I am a girl! ^_^
Oh god, I loled so hard, so very very hard.
XD
This makes me really glad I hadn't posted then...
Ok! I'm back to topic!
Someone said himself that he is a girl.... Don't be fooled everyone...!
Let me remind you the internet rules that NejinOniwa said about gender...
1. In the internet, all girls are men and all kids are undercover FBI agents 2. There are no girls on the internet
Credits goes to Nejin-san
internet
If that's the case... Then I'm a TREE.
Hell yeah! Ultimate solution to all gender-related problems:
IMPLANT CHLOROPHYLL IN YOUR BODY, AND SAY YOU'RE A PLANT HELL YEAH
I'M A TREE YOU DICKWHALE
...that's it, I've broken the eleventh wall. On to the next one, otsukare~
Sou ne... Nejin-oniisan... has anyone ever told you how much I like trees?
Dendrophilia? Oh FFFUUU- *hides tentacle/leaves/hair beneath hueg helmet*
ooh, helmets... <3
:D
I like orange juice too.
Oy, srsly people this isnt topicless three, dun post if you got nothing further to say on the subject =_=
the OTness is off the charts around here
Do we even have a chart for that?
I think we broke it like back in -07...
Without me knowing, the topic had changed to Plantae! ^_^
Sometime, my mentally looks like a girl. (fortunately I'm still a man.)
Physically a female. Mentally a girl untile strong decision is require (in this case trying to be a man-thinking person XD)
<:3 I like girls.
Oh my...but why i don't mind?? XD
heh, better that Toki says that than (for example) ime... Toki is a girl, too... i would be a perv if i would say that... and Bruce Willis would come in a government chopper and kill me... ^_^
I don't know that she is a girl 0o Funny situation
Heh, expect more of such situations in this forum ^_^...
Well, despite what the survey says, most of the active posters are female. So don't be surprised if most of the posters you encounter are girls...
true, there are only two people of who i am certain that they are guys...
Oh, yeah... There's also an Irishman here... ^_^
Yeah, thanks, I'll remember about this stuff with posters ;012 But some times it is hard to guess who is exactly at anime poster male or female so it can lead to wrong decision about gender  (I already saw some of that kind of posters so I don't know what gender that persons are exactly  )
Well, to save you athe trouble of reading lots and lots of pages ITT, i'll summarize a couple of active posters i know the gender of...
Male: NejinOniwa (or Nej) VonDaab IanDanKillmaster (aka; IDK) SVX (not sure though) Me
Female: Aurora Borealis (our last action- eeh, standing hero-eh, mod ^_^) Toki Chocofreak13 Cockleshell well, you as it seems... ^_^
oh pardon me I thought Neji is a girl   (very and realy sorry about this)
Don't be... he gets lots of abuse... he has posted a pic of himself (somewhere, i can't really find it anymore) as did i (can't really find that one either ^_^) and he looks really normal, wich is kinda strange if you get to know him a bit ^_^...
Well I just hope he won't shout at me much  But I realy thought that it is a cute girl on the poster  (By the way you both have very cute pics ^_^ I like them)
Well i just like cute kittens... and general cutesie stuff... sometimes i'm more like a girl than a guy....
Nobody else read this!!! ^_^
Nej's pic is rather easy to find (for me, since I found it before), but I'm sure he's probably tired of everyone seeing it. In any case, here's some other posters you might encounter of whose gender I'm quite certain.
Male: Fedora-tan (One of our admins, despite the sn, I'm pretty certain he's indicated himself as male) Tsubashi (The other admin, he's a d00d, for sure) Red_Machine (he seems to pop in occasionally)
Female: CaptBrenden (The other mod, she's also an artist that could give you advice, but she's been away for awhile)
There's other girls, I know, but I'm having trouble remembering. In any case, I thought you should at least be familiar with the admins/mods here since you'll be dealing with them at some point or another. Before he gets any ideas, I don't think Smokey should make a list of every member's gender, but this helps, I guess.
EDIT: I should mention that Red_Machine is not an admin/mod, but shows up often enough to be mentioned.
Riight, forgot about Red_Machine... Need to tell (read: gloat) him that Man-U is second in the league... ^_^
And, no i'm not making a complete list, that would be useless...
Added after 42 seconds:
BTW, you my new cop/babysitter or sommin'? ^_^
Yeah, Aurora-sama hired me to keep watch over you in her absence ;P.
Honestly, now that I'm done with work for awhile, I've got nothing better to do than show newbie the ropes. Perhaps, I'm not the best candidate for job but meh. *shrugs* You just happen to be following her around everywhere, so we all end up in the same place XP.
I follow everyone around...^_^ And i'm just glad that Vaereth is an active new member... :D
IanDanKilmaster Ok, will remember about admins/mods, thanks for the list BTW: You are admin/mod too? Just for more information
Smokey I just liked to be here ;012 And want to improve my speaking language  (in schools and some universities (in economic and math often but not in linguistic ones) it is very bad taught :( )
Oh, this is a good forum to hang out...
Speaking of hanging, if Ian is a admin/mod i would probably have to hang myself... ^_^ (this is the British part of me making fun of the Irish)
No, I'm no mod - I'm too predisposed to fits of OT. I try mini-modding just keep this forum somewhat sane, but I obviously have no real authority XD.
Well, you should be careful if you intend to learn English here. Internet-speak is used abundantly and by design that's usually bad English ><;. Luckily, most of the posters here are also very good at speaking English, so it's not all bad.
Hanging is very bad for the healf XP
But it is better than nothing...to speak perfect inglish you must live in England or english speaking country... And it is hard to menage :(
Surprised. My impression is that that you have a mod part of the character ;012
true, true...
And Roger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_dad) sleeps hanging in a noose sometimes, it's supposed to be good for his back... ^_^
Well if a person is a cartoon character may be it isn't so bad :D
Well, when i was a kid i once slept in a backwards arc (standing on feet and head/shoulders with torso in the air) after seeing it on the addams family... ^_^
;068 Have you got any "stars" in your eyes after it?
No, actually i was more comfortable than that time i slept in a desk-chair at a friends party once....
Quote from: "Vaereth"Have you got any "stars" in your eyes after it? He's a Jukebox HeroOkay, that's enough OT from me, XD. Really though, we're all in Topicless now, let's try to keep it all there...
Ah, yes... OT again...
This topic was ON TOPIC SO HARD that it was impressive and frightening. The spasm of OT... I am not sure but I think it made me feel relief.
Toki could never be a mod ^-^;; She would turn everyone into cats.
And we're OT again... ^_^
Quote oh pardon me I thought Neji is a girl (very and realy sorry about this)
Nah, don't worry, I'm used to it... ...gotta be one of the first times it's happened to me on the 'net though. Who knows how many times it's happened to me IRL though...damn.
Got that too, when i had long hair... funny at first, but it bores quickly...
I dunno why I thought that you a girl  May be cuz of cute poster ;012 Same here about hair. I wear short hair and everyone says "what a cute boy" when meet me for the first time :D
Waist-length blond hair carries some weight...
...in many ways. >_>
yep, yep.... i know all about it...
Hm, never thought it can ;018
I was referring to the fact that it both carries quite much symbolic value, as well as being plain heavy (especially after taking a shower -w-)
I'm pretty good at guessing other users' genders but I've been wrong before.
At first I thought that C-Chan (a former OSC member) was female because of the -chan suffix and I thought that Capt.Brenden was male (and I didn't know otherwise until recently)! ^^;
No C-Chan is a piggy... ^_^ But everyone makes such mistakes... i thought you were a d00d a loong time, Aurora....
I wanna be mistaken for a boy too!! No one ever does T^T
I just generally avoid making mistakes in the first place by simply not assuming things...
Toki You are mistaken already)) When you sad that you like girls, I thought that you are a boy  :D
You're approaching this from the wrong angle... -w-; YOU'RE GOING TO CRASH YOUR SPACECRAFT!
Year may be) She sad it so really like a true boy:rolleyes:
in my mind, unless otheriwise noted (as with capitan and toki) everyone here is male. :3
except me. ;]
Added after 3 minutes:
EDIT: i've been mistaken for a boy before, but it was from behind and i was walking with a former friend, james. (yes, nejin, he's the one i told you about. he's got at least waist length [if not longer] brown hair.)
you guys have seen my haircut; it's like 2k. i got mistaken when i was 14-15 (2-3 yrs ago) and my hair was still short, but more of a bob-ish cut, maybe a bit more of a pixie cut. and all brown. :3
i've been mistaken for a teacher too.....in freshman year.....in may....when i was wearing all black (tripp pants and a one piece shirt)....and a fleece green and blue cat hat......by some dumb middle schoolers.
Even when I had very short hair I was never mistaken for a boy. However people have been way wrong with guessing my age!
I remember back when I was 15, someone thought I was only 11! It was also that same year when some visitors were over looking at my family's house to be sold and the people there thought that I was the woman of the house! o_o
Quote from: "Chocofreak13"in my mind, unless otheriwise noted (as with capitan and toki) everyone here is male. :3
except me. ;] YOU FORGOT AURORA (http://gamekid.ytmnd.com/) Sorry, old meme, I know. EDIT: Can't remember a time I was ever mistaken for the opposite sex, but I was told that I would make a cute girl (I think that was more a rib about my lips than anything else ><; ). As I got older, I was commonly mistaken for being older than I was, thanks to my thinning hair + facial hair.
wat? i thought she said she was a guy awhile back!!!
omg, aurora-sama, i'm sou sorry :'[
HAHAHA!!!![/evil laugh] Well, i have been able to make people think i am older than i am since i was about 15, wich comes in handy with the legal drinking age and all....
what's the drinking age there? ik it's 16 in switzerland, and 21 here. (of course i would know my two resident countries)
but isn't it lower there than the US? like 18 or something?
for beer and anything with alcohol percentage of up to ~10% it's sixteen years (wich is also the minimum age to buy tobacco) and for hard liquor it's 18...(wich is also the minimum driving age and the minimum age to be able to join the armed forces, seeing a pattern, anyone? ^_^)
i like the laws over there. that way, if you're an alchoholic, then you'll find out before you get on the road. :3
Heh, there's a new trend among the teens nowadays; Comadrinking, where 10-16 year-olds drink so much, they pass out and have to go to the ER... I personally think those kids should be denied medical care or be treated in a prison hospital, where they can stay untill they are officially adult, Tax-law-aduls, that's 21 YO...
there was a news article about a kid in norway who played warcraft for 24 hrs straight--no breaks--and he had to be hospitalized after he passed out. xD
needless to say his dad's monitoring his gameplay more closely now....
There have even been reports of people who dropped dead after playing WoW for days at a time!
I don't know what to say about that. -__-
I do... DAMN KIDS *waves fist curmudgeonly*
I keed, I would say most of those people are actually around my age, so yeah -__-;. Still, I have very little remorse or sorrow for someone dying or getting hurt as a result of their own stupidity. This may come off as harsh, but to me it's just natural selection at work...
Agrees ^_^
Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy who once flipped a shopping cart and put it on his head. I think it was in the same night I pierced my lip...
lol... wut?
I know, I wasn't even high... what the hell was wrong with me?! ><;
Not really on-topic either...
in b4 OT kill... ^_^
You can spend days on a computer without a break, i think the world record is set at some 5-6 days non-stop... You just have to keep in mind that your body needs to get it's nutrition and hydration, something people tend to forget... and of course that it gets lethal after about a week, because of the sleep-deprivation...
Remember - being awake for 24 hours is like drinking a few pints of beer in the way your system becomes. And so on, the longer you go...
I was never made people think I am older than I am. They gave me always 2 or 3 years under my age ^_^ And I don't like alcohol at all ;051
Aparently out b4 OT-kill, too... ^_^
BTW I like to OT since I came here ;012 But it is a secret  ^_^
Haha Vae-tan is cute. I also like OT but I try not to seek it out... but it happens way too easily with me.
That's bad you twos!
I blame Smokey, he's a corrupting influence!
I always blame myself, for when I'm not actually causing it I'm standing in the sidelines, chuckling. -w-
Smokey has been kinda stickler about OT lately... no fun! :3
Well, we've had two pages worth of OT in just about every current thread - I think that's quite enough for now. It should be pretty apparent through all my OTing, that in all honesty, my own attitude regarding OT is "WEEEEE!".
So BS reason for OT warnings: I'm a believer in duality, and when the forces of chaos emerge, someone must restore ORDAH! NU WAHLD ORDAH!
Actual reasoning: Fear of n00bs (no, not Vae-san, you know the types) jumping on the bandwagon. Admit it, that shit is irritating.
when i ot, there's no one to blame but me. :3 (YAY RHYMEY)
btw, vae-san, yay for you and no alchohol. i am the same way. :3 (alchohol has screwed me over too much for me to even think about letting it into my life. it was hell just getting it out.)
Yeah, it is it. There are things in the world more interesting than drinking alchohol. For example making cakes ;012
You seem really into it at making cakes Vaereth. Wish I have the ability to create cake. I cook fine but somehow when baking a cake the result is almost always....less desireable. And good for you for no alcohol.
Screw cake! Make Lembas!
Seamore Thanks ^_^ Yeah but the other abilities of cooking from the first try was not as good as making cakes
NejinOniwa If you show me the recipe, I will try to do it ;)
Lembas huh? It is good, BUT I LOVE CAKES. I even had a dream when I'm still highschool to open my own cake shop/cafe. Perhaps one day when I had enough of my job and collect enough money, I'll reconsider this dream again. And Vaereth if you have any kind of tips of how making a cake, I will be so happy if you share it. Since even with recipe, I still sometimes screw up.
Recipe, hell yeah! It's my own custom recipe, made out of something I saw on the 'net, and customized until it was easy to make. Originally it's supposed to be small wafers or something, but that's to bothersome to make, so I make them as flat, soft cookie-stuffy things. Delicious-er.
6 eggs 1-3 dl honey Grated orange peel from 1 orange 2 decilitre almonds 50 grams melted butter 2-2 ½ liters of wheat flour (can substitute with Durum wheat flour if you have it) (Optional) 4 decilitre dinkel flour 1 tsp salt
Grind the almonds in a blender or the like. Mix the eggs, orange peel, honey with the ground almonds in a food processor of your choice. add half of the flour and mix until it becomes smooth, then add the rest of the flour and the salt, and mix again. When it is smooth (alternately when it's getting so hard your machine barely can spin), JAM IT IN a sheet pan and put it in the oven at 200 C for about 15 minutes. If your dough is halfway to or all the way to rock hard and you're forced to spend 15 minutes mashing away at it to make it flat, you're DOING IT RIGHT, so don't worry. Remove the plate when the bread has turned gold brown and has formed a crust. Pay attention to the oven at all times - shit can burn pretty fast, and you'll want to remove it just before it starts to burn. I recommend cutting the bread in squares. Don't let it cool for too long if you're going to eat it fresh - otherwise, package them in plastic bags. Lembas bread is, after all, magnificent and nutritious compact food - with the only downside being its weight (heavy as hell). Bring it for your next outdoor hike, long test or something else like that!
Nejin Thanks, i'll try to do it and tell about the results ^_^ Seamore Love cakes too but to make it myself I dare only two days ago :D and if i have any tips ( Ñuz it is my first try i just follow the recipe in book that i have found) i'll tell you ;)
If you want any more recipes, i have my dads Cordon Bleu cookbook so i can look 'em up for you...
thanks for recipie nej-san, i print and make sometime. :3
btw, next year i hope to take an international foods class, in which i plan to attempt my favorite soup (besides cambell's chicken noodle =P ), minestrone. i'm gonna get a recipie off the net eventually and tweak it to my fancy. once i do it good, i'll post the recipie for you guys!
if you want, i could post my recipie for apple pie or maybe the secret one for my cookies of evil. :3
Smokey It would be nice ^_^ I don't cook more than common meals such as soup, steak or pancakes but sometimes I want to cook something special Chocofreak13
Want to here them! recipie of apple pie and other things ^_^
COOKIES OF EVIL! >:3 too bad i lost the recipie 5 years ago..... but i'll find it! i promise!
as for the apple pie, i'll get that to you soon. :3
Chocofreak13 Ok thanks ^_^ Btw i like cookies in the same way as pies ^_^
I can ask my brother-in-law to give me the recipe for pudging (don't know how it's spelled, but it's pronounced like tha...-ish, crazy brazilians...)... that stuff is pure genius... and loaded with calories, btw, as is most brazilian food... ^_^
Wow thanks alot if you give it to me ^_^ Want to taste brazilian food ^_^ Hmm pudgish...resembles some fizzy thing :D And about Russian food...wil seach for everybody some tradition russian desert or meal recipe if you like ^_^
Cool... that would be nice... Only Russian recipe i know of is Borscht, but that has about 1001 variations depending on wich region you're at... (also has a lot of different spellings... ^_^)
Oh yes it is like you sad ^_^ But the most tasty Borscht you can find only in the Ukraine (and so the recipe is called The Ukraine Borscht) ;)
Well the Ukraine was once part of Mother Russia, so it would still be Russian cuisine... (well Soviet cuisine to be precise, but i'm no expert... ^_^)
There are proper (http://ostan-collections.net/topic-449.html) threads (http://ostan-collections.net/topic-795.html) for this, you know - in case you want to go on foodstuffing.
This was kinda hard, 'cause I have my girly moments, but for the most part I am one of the guys.
yes, ot-ing tis fun, but i think i killed that thread, along with the picture thread....:[
because i can never keep track, i'm going to compile a list! it's updating smokey's list! (this refers to PHYSICAL gender, NOT mental. maybe i'll make one for that later, but it'd be harder. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I BE RONG xD)
females: Aurora Borealis Toki Chocofreak13 Cockleshell Vaereth CaptBrendan Panda amaimomo
males: NejinOniwa VonDaab IanDanKillmaster SVX Smokey Fedora-tan Tsubashi Red_Machine
Yes you have a spelling error ^_^... RONG needs to be WRONG.... :P
Added after 48 seconds:
And you could add Bella to the list of girls, even though she's no longer active...
You did it right. but it is only about that users that I know ;012
Well, there's a lot more to add, but as I pointed out earlier, I don't think it's altogether necessary to compile such a list but meh.
SleepyD and Kiso are also males who are here occasionally...
perhaps i should update.
meh, maybe that list is to keep ME on track....^^; i feel like such a fail-kid. xD
SHOCK!!!!!! I'm not in the list? So what am I, a PET?
I'm not in the list either, but I think that's because I've never announced my gender on this forum yet.
I'm male, by the way.
I'm pretty sure that I have stated before, that I'm a male.
I've never stated my gender officially, yet people assume I'm a male.
Wonder why....
Might it be that your self-portraits show a quite unshaven face? ^^
Ah, yes. How could I forget those...
Quote from: "Seamore"I'm not in the list? So what am I, a PET? Yes, you are our pet Orca... ^_^
I'm a male, although this is an odd-looking thread.
Yeah, things have been going a bit astray lately. -w-;
it's the nature of the forum. of this entire site.
to get back on topic, i am physically female, but mentally both.
Nico <= Male X3
the male to female ratio here is off. very off. :\
It's Moe Anthropomorphism, whaddya expect, huh?
but only one of the few girls has been labeled "moe". what are the rest of us, failed prototypes?
Followers? -w-
no >:[
i'd rather surrender to my pimp than follow her, no offense.
Resistance is futile, you have all been assimilated by this forum and it's one MOE girl...
BTW, Aurora doesn't fall under MOE cuz she's cool...ad/mods can't be MOE, that would defeat their authority...
The only thing that Nej was trying to point out in the first place is that the main audience for moe is male. For awhile this site acted as an exception to the rule, with more active female members than male, but as you pointed out there's been a huge shift lately. Chances are most of the more recent members are little more than flashes in the pan anyway, they'll stick around, get what they want and then they'll disappear.
Anyway, most moe comes from an androcentric perspective because it's usually made by males and as such generally appeals to males. Still, none of this would be a problem to begin with if this thread was used for its intended purpose, but that's another subject.
meh i'm sometimes the moe one in mah group, but i compete for that spot w/ my friend colleen. but she has double d's, so i tend to take the spot for cute sometimes..... but she's a furry, so she steals it back.... but i'm younger.... but she's shorter....
Im a guy, for anyone who cares.
I'm male, thank you very much.
this site needs to do a head count of how many males/females access. xD
i have a feeling it is grossly unbalanced... xD
Until now I consider that I'm male and mentally I think I'm more a teenager than a boy ( not so innocent but still much to learn :-P ).
i love your avatar, but TOO MANY DOODS :'[
MtF transgendered :3
cute avi. :3
*nods*
We should start a new poll on this to keep it up-to-date...
yeah xD
there is a lot of guys in this forum
Moe..? *w*
is moe a gender? i forgot... :\
Naaah, moe is more a whole species... ^_^
A delicious species. * eats moe for breakfast *
*jk* Eto sometimes it really does seem that different types of girls are completely different species
Different species? Morelike live in different world. One can be so sexy and mature while the other can be so calm and gentle. And speaking of moe... Why on earth all the girls around me in real life are tsundere type? Even one of my friend call me a tsundere magnet (I know he is joking, but somehow that leave a bitter taste).
eh, it's ok. i still have a harem of beautiful boys at mah disposal...... srsly, put them all in suits= automatic orgy. it's a good thing. [/quote="marthastewart"]
Aren't we indulging the OT on this thread a bit?
yes......
I think as long as we're talking about gender then we're doing pretty good for us.
ah, good point. i shouldn't expect so much from me and you guys. xD
What the hell were talking about again?
Oh, and I'm a mutant zombie by the way...
If I recall correctly, this thread was originally about zombies or something like that. :P
can haz brainz?
* is safe * :D
Not with me around, you're not.
*devours Toki whole*
Om. *burp*
*is ACTUALLY safe* :3
I'm safe too, but because I have mod skillz!
Where's a grue when you need one?
Ha! Pass my lawn full of peashooter, melon-pult, winter melon, gloom shroom and cat tail first. Not even giant zombie or zombie riding an ice truck can pass ;012
The writhing mass of tentacles stuck to my head can surely do something about that problem, Sea-kun.
ALSO I WAS GRUE. once.
I am a horde, you know.
Hey, I (http://ostan-collections.net/templates/Harmony_2/images/css/bg_row2.gif) for weeks in a row, so yeah.
Oh well, if everything fails, I just push that self-destruct button. The problem is, the button make from chocolate, so I have to be careful not to accidently eat it and blown to pieces. Either way, there's no way I'll submit to zombies.
Actually, with enough (http://ostan-collections.net/templates/Harmony_2/images/css/bg_row2.gif) I think you might just (http://ostan-collections.net/templates/Harmony_2/images/css/bg_row2.gif) against (http://ostan-collections.net/templates/Harmony_2/images/css/bg_row2.gif) somehow. Beware!
[On-Topic]I'm a male... in my pants...
I don' think of myself as (gender) in mentally though.
I am attracted to females. Their bodies are pretty. but otherwise I don't consider myself a boy or a girl. [/On-topic]
Shit man, I wasn't even aware...I thought this was topicless -w-;
everywhere is topicless for you, nejin. -w-;
Aye-o, sure seems that way huh. -w-;
Oi, then it be back to business then?
Right.
Hey guys, I just wanted everybody to know that I am a moose.
Since if you eat a moose, you become a moose.
This is universally accepted truth.
i didn't know that mooses could be sexy. YA LEARN SOMETHIN NEW EVERY DAY!! =D
I'll do this until it becomes a meme and someone makes a moOSe.
I am a 19 year old boy who can pass myself off as a 13yo.
I act mature when I am alone but i seem to snap when I am in a large group of people.

did i ever tell you guys i'm perfectly straight?
Have I posted here before?
Yeah, I'm a guy. Annnnd I like it that way. That is all.
Still a woman! Mentally-speaking I consider myself androgynous... like, I think I'd still have pretty much the same personality, interests, likes and dislikes if I had been born male instead. I don't consider my personality to be defined by my gender, in other words, and I don't feel limited by gender roles either (and that "oh, I'm a woman so I must feel horrible about my body's flaws, kvetch every time I gain a few pounds and unceasingly curse that time of the month" mentality too).
That being said, I love being female and everything that goes with it... for awhile I was horribly uncomfortable in my own skin, but that was probably just some weird adolescent-awkwardness thing since I don't feel that way anymore.
I have nothing against men, but I don't think I'd want to be one... women are just so much more elegant and beautiful, and at least socially-speaking, are allowed to get away with so much more emotional depth (whereas boys are often conditioned to "be a man" and repress their emotions). Of course, it's not as if girls aren't exposed to their fair share of negative social conditioning, which is just as harmful or more so. But it's always seemed like girls have more leeway when it comes to pushing gender-boundaries... tomboys don't seem to draw quite as much negativity as boys or men who're more feminine.
Oh yeah, and I consider myself asexual. And possibly aromantic. Not so much of an orientation, as it is a lack of it.
Anyway... I've always been fascinated by gender/sex and its role in society... I find it interesting that all the female members at this forum all consider themselves to be tomboyish or have more masculine personalities. Hmm...
Now I feel left out for having no complex feelings on gender or sexual identity. Not to say I have no opinion on the matter, but to be honest sociology's pretty much beyond my comprehension. Well hell, I'll try my hand.
Maybe it's an anomaly, but I've never felt pressured to act masculine it just happened. Now atmosphere might have had something to do with that granted, but it's never seemed to me to be much use to try and be someone I'm not. If that means I'm not that emotional, I'm just not. Never have been, but it's nothing to do with repression as far as I know.
Saying that though, there's no denying that it's hard to be an effeminate guy or a tomboy.
Back to watching my class movie on the Vietnam War, talk about gender identity

I think you make a lot of good point about gender roles. Really, I'd say the problem lies in our over-reliance on labeling things. I don't think a label properly conveys all the ideas and mentality that go into the brain sexually. Keep in mind that the two-gender system is very much a western concept, there are a number of societies that provide for three or more, and I'm still not sure if that's adequate. Still I'm very much a product of the western culture, and, as such, it's nigh impossible for me to escape the two gender way of thinking. So I'm genetically a man, identify as male, and find myself very much sexually attracted to femininity. However, this does not prevent me from being very emotional (men can be just as much a slave to their hormones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgen) as any woman), and then attempting to suppress those emotions. Meh... I'm ranting...
Sorry for adding to the pointlessness of this thread, IDK... but stuff like this interests me to no end. D: This thread WAS originally designed for people to tell their sex (biological/physical) and gender identity (psychological), but now we're actually discussing some of the whys behind our decisions... is it really worse? Or just a lot random-er? Quote from: "stewartsage"Now I feel left out for having no complex feelings on gender or sexual identity. Not to say I have no opinion on the matter, but to be honest sociology's pretty much beyond my comprehension. Well hell, I'll try my hand.

Never have been, but it's nothing to do with repression as far as I know.
Saying that though, there's no denying that it's hard to be an effeminate guy or a tomboy. Eh, sociology has always been a minor interest of mine... a lot of it confuses me, but I still love talking about it. I don't know if children are often "told" to conform to a certain gender role, rather than it being the result of a lot of subtle socialization (or the atmosphere, as you called it)... seeing how adults and other children behave, being influenced by play, the media, etc. At least early in life... later on there seems to be a lot more direct pressure to fit into the "normal" gender role. Emotions don't necessarily go hand-in-hand with one's sex or gender identity... there are a lot of masculine-but-emotionally-driven men, and there are feminine-but-unemotional women. Like IDK mentioned, this is something that's determined by biology as well as socialization. I'm a very emotional person but I tend to channel my emotions into other forms other (like art or music) instead of physical displays. As hypocritical as it sounds, I've always felt like showing pain (physical or emotional) somehow makes me come off as "weak"... so I try to avoid it. (This approach leads to some epic rants and meltdowns, though). But yeah, it's foolish to think that being emotional is feminine, or that certain emotions only belong to one sex. Emotion (or lack of it) is a human thing, a biological thing, although socialization in relation to gender can determine how a person displays these. Quote from: "IDK"Really, I'd say the problem lies in our over-reliance on labeling things. I don't think a label properly conveys all the ideas and mentality that go into the brain sexually. Keep in mind that the two-gender system is very much a western concept, there are a number of societies that provide for three or more, and I'm still not sure if that's adequate. So I'm genetically a man, identify as male, and find myself very much sexually attracted to femininity. However, this does not prevent me from being very emotional (men can be just as much a slave to their hormones as any woman), and then attempting to suppress those emotions. That's true... I've always disdained labels, since they never seem to work for, well, labeling people. Socially, politically, spiritually... people should work harder on seeing others for who they are, rather than making generalizations based on ill-fitting descriptions. That's very true, and it's interesting to read about some of the genders that exist in other cultures and their definitions. Well, it is tough trying to recognize "third genders" when most people around you are stuck in the gender binary... it's like living in the US and trying to use the Metric system. You have your way of measuring things (and yes, it probably makes more sense), but the people around you have a different way-- who's right and who's wrong? (Bad metaphor much?) The only thing I can say to that is it's all a matter of perspective, like a lot of human experience (that's a rant for another time, though). Thanks for bringing up the biological angle too... humans are a lot more biologically-driven than we care to admit (and probably carrying more evolutionary baggage, psychologically-speaking, than we realize), but yes, I should stop there before I launch into THAT topic. ^^; But yes, sex, gender, emotions and sexuality are all very complex topics-- and all very distinct, but inextricably linked at the same time. It's fascinating stuff...
I actually wasn't thinking so much about your post being off-topic, but more about the last two pages which I thought had really killed off the thread for good. I was hoping to preempt any further desecration of this corpse yukio had resurrected.
You're right that what we're talking about isn't that far from being on-topic, but it might be better if this discussion had it's own thread to properly flourish.
EDIT: Second thought, I don't know if that's altogether necessary. Now I'm confused... I'm really interested in this discussion, Bella-chan, but I can't decide if this thread or a new one would be better to discuss it ><;.

Srry i meant IanDanKilmaster
what is "gender" anyway? it's more of the mental aspect versus your sex, which is the physical aspect. which means "gender" is created through society and upbringing, in addition to organics.
I'm here to agree and disagree on some things. xP Quote from: "Chocofreak13"i am physically female. i do not intend to change this fact. mentally, i show traits of both genders, all the way down to who i'm attracted to (bisexual and proud). most "girly" things disgust me, i hate the colour pink in most forms, and when i have kids, i will buy them barbies AND GI Joes (or X-men), regardless of their gender. i will teach my kids to be themselves, no matter what society tells them. First, what you said about kids is music to my ears. x) I wish more parents would let their children choose what they want to play with instead of deciding it for them. Not to mention teaching them that they're allowed to be themselves, some parents never are able to do that. However, I must point out that pink has traditionally been seen as men's colour for its flashiness, and in western countries even in the beginning of the 20th century pink was essentially a baby boys' colour. Only after the wars (?) pink has been more related with women or girls for one reason or another, and of course more recently it's become more acceptable for men to wear pink as well again. Quotei define "being a man" as being brave, responsible, and having guts(balls) and heart, and passion. which makes me more of a "man" than most guys i know. This part is problematic, because if you define "being a man" all those things, would you define "being a woman" as being cowardly, irresponsible, lacking in guts, heart and passion? That is of course the problem only, if you consider man and woman the opposites, which on its own would be a troubling issue already. x) I don't give any other meaning to "being a man" than identifying as one. There are social expectations and biological bases for it certainly, but I'll leave those just there. *places them there* Quote from: "zjhentohlauedy"This i why i don't like labels. why can't we just stick to havin really broad labels XD
i mean gender was pretty easy a long time ago, man woman, now we have all kinds of prefix+sexual and it's just confusing! mankind seems to like getting more and more complicated XD In fact, gender variance has been present in humans for a very long time, possibly as long as humans themselves: in every corner of the world there are very traditional terms for people who don't necessarily fit their local "gender binary" (if such exists) - Two-Spirits among North American natives, Fa'afines and others among Samoans and many other Polynesian islands, sworn virgins in Balkan, traditional same-sex coupling among a lot of African tribes, and there are many other examples, which are specifically very old and traditional terms, not just "recent inventions". Also, the suffix "-sexual" refers most of the time to sexuality, and not to gender, and also sexual variance has always existed. Homosexuality, bisexuality (and asexuality) have not only existed always, but are present also in many other species than just humans. There's little doubt that "alternative sexual preferences" have always been around, the only question is how hidden or marginalized they have been kept by the majority. edit: Of course, there's a shiny new Gender discussion thread for all this kind of talk. x)
IT'S A PITKIN!
what i mean as "being a man" was general responsibility, i suppose. i look around at all the guye here who consider themselves "men", and i'm unsure if they're fit to be little boys. i'm braver than them, and stronger, and tougher, and i'm not saying that out of pride, i'm saying that they probably couldn't handle what i did and am going through.

i mean to say that i have more guts that people.
no one ever thinks the crazy goth chick can pull out some girly. i would make a surprisingly good housewife (just ask nej, i was cooking the meals and sewing all con).

(At least from what I've witnessed with friends and family). But yeah. I am in no position to give any sort of dating advice. (Oh you. xD) Ah, I get what you mean now... ballsy-ness seems to be a vastly over-masculinized trait. I'm sort of the unofficial maid/housekeeper of my family, so I've picked up a few housewifery skillz. Cleaning, dish-washing, organization... D:

I'm sort of the unofficial maid/housekeeper of my family, so I've picked up a few housewifery skillz. Cleaning, dish-washing, organization... D: YAY!! *hug cloney* today i baked a pie :3 and cleaned the house :3 cause i was bored and later i'ma sew my yukata. :3 this was boredom, not girly-ness. i've found that the only realy girly moments tend to either be EXTREMELY goth or when i randomly treat myself to a spa day. (exfoliate, mud mask, footbath, the works.) my ballsyness is one of my favourite personal traits. :3 it DOES help to know the person a bit before dating....i know that one from experience. i've given romantic advice, perhaps only because i know what NOT to do. ^^; in terms of my love life, the latest failure on my part was not going further than i did with the demon. :\ and zen. ASK HER OUT

Excellent points by all, but this really isn't the place...
Can we please route all threads to their appropriate topics?

No, that's not what I meant.
Even if you write japanese or chinese, thai, whatever! Google translate will fail epically to translate to english.
The only way I can translate something into proper english after google has epically murdered it, is if I havea whole paragraphs worth that has no grammatical mistakes, no slurs, slangs, etc. Because if you have those things, google will just mix it up with a non-relevant word.

I STILL CAN'T READ! THIS IS PRIMARY ENGLISH FORUM, SPEAK ENGLISH, NOOB
Quote from: "Chocofreak13"I STILL CAN'T READ! THIS IS PRIMARY ENGLISH FORUM, SPEAK ENGLISH, NOOB Don't make me throw this uh... Trollin' Explorer at you!
dude, i'm asking simply that if newbie writes something, post it in a language that we can all understand. given that i am currently trying to make a concentrated effort at learning to read japanese, it's frusterating to have the new kid come in with all his fancy asian powers and wave his literacy in my face.
it's an english-based forum. thus, posts should be in english (unless otherwise specified).
PROTIP FOR JAPANESE TRANSLATIONS: use Romaji (http://www.romaji.org/) if you're sufficiently proficient in moon, and KanjiDict (http://kanjidict.stc.cx/) as blackup.
Also works wonders for character research, btw.
.....blackup? o___o;
/b/lackup, slashes not included.
still don't get it. is it a 4chan thing? :\
Yes, quite.
you sound so british. -w-
