From the film Paprika directed by Satoshi Kon (2006)

PAPRIKA | A FILM BY SATOSHI KON | A SONY PICTURES CLASSICS RELEASE (http://www.sonyclassics.com/paprika/)

"29 year old, Dr. Atsuko Chiba is an attractive but modest Japanese research psychotherapist whose work is on the cutting edge of her field. Her alter-ego is a stunning and fearless 18 year old 'dream detective,' code named PAPRIKA, who can enter into people’s dreams and synchronize with their unconscious to help uncover the source of their anxiety or neurosis.

"At Atsuko’s lab, a powerful new psychotherapy devise known as the 'DC-MINI' has been invented by her brilliant colleague, Dr. Tokita, a nerdy genius who is rather too fond of his food. Although this state-of-art devise could revolutionize the world of psychotherapy, in the wrong hands the potential misuse of the devise could be devastating, allowing the user to completely annihilate the dreamer’s personality while they are asleep.

"When one of the only four existing DC-MINI prototypes is stolen in the final stages of research, and simultaneously Dr. Tokita’s research assistant, Himuro, goes missing, Atsuko suspects it’s not a coincidence. Several of the remaining researchers at the lab start to go mad, dreaming while in their waking states, haunted by a Japanese doll which featured heavily in the dreams of one of Himuro’s schizophrenic patients. Atsuko now knows for certain that the DC MINI is being used to destroy people’s minds. She fears that not only will the government refuse to sanction the use of the machine for psychotherapy purposes when it becomes public, but whoever is manipulating the machines has a more evil purpose in mind."

Well... Paprika it is an abused name...

Even a famous italian director of Erotic Movies whose name is Tinto Brass called a movie PAPRIKA...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098063/

And there is a german movie of 1934 also called Paprika.

I hope this will not means that in Italy and other countries, the name Paprika for the anime movie could be dropped in favour of another name...

Maybe what they could do, Raffaele, is put together a traveling Paprika Mini-Festival wherein all films titled "Paprika" are shown â€" one after the other, in order of release date.  Can you imagine?

o_o

Bella, I'd like to screen this film.  The subject matter appeals to me; and any film which shows a marching band composed of frogs is bound to be instructive at some level.

Thank you for the compliment regarding my avatar!  Well, I'll say this for XP Professional-tan:  She's not one to stand by whilst others do the dirty work dictated by idiotic leaders and endorsed by clueless legislatures.

At least that's how she put it to me when she left.  I'm sure she'd rather be at home lounging around, but so would all her comrades-in-arms who are presently serving in the combat zone.

(In reality, when I go to the Vet Center for therapy sessions I see quite a few young gals and guys who've recently returned from the combat zone.  Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose, I'm sorry to say.)

They're probably marching just for fun, or there's some kind of celebration going, but I don't know really.

And they don't keep cellos on ones shoulders. Although it could be a viola.

I saw yesterday the Trailer of Paprika on italian TV...

There will be a passage in Cinemas next month or even this one...

It has kept its original name but with an added second label to distinguish it from the sexy movie which predated he name here in Italy as because it was released some years ago!

Paprika "Sognando un sogno"

(Paprika "Dreaming a dream")

Bleach!  ;026

Sur the boys at marketing of Cinema Rental Service which it is distributing this movie here in Italy they have a GREEEAT IMAGINATION for names!

No! I don't want that people start thinking that Paprika from Tinto Brass director and Paprika by Satoshi Kon are the same...

But the department of italian distribution who got the copyrights, sure could had more fantasy in re-naming Paprika...

"Sognando un sogno" (a.k.a. "Dreaming a dream") in italian sounds so baaaaad! It is like saying:

"cr(*)ppy on cr(*)P"...

Sure managers of movie distribution in Italy are really stupid!

Well I would think think that you're thinking too much about this, it's possible that it sounds bad, but in the end it's the meaning that matters.
