In the Haruhi thread there started a new similar topic between me and Nejin. And since the thread is about Haruhi it wasnt' really fair to talk about it there.
The topic is; is Satoshi Hikari or <insert name I can't remember> really gay?
He acts like he really likes Daisuke throughout the series and them manga, but I think that was just an act to get closer to him since he was really Dark. And besides just in the happy little end he was seen smiling towards Risa who was smiling at him, that is in my mind a sign of love!
What do YOU think!?
For the record, his family name is Hikari, but since he's been adopted he has taken his new father's name, Hiwatari, as his given name. *hem*
I've not got the time for a longer post right now, but i'll sum it up like this:
Fanbase (and i mean ALL of it) says he's gay,
AnimeNewsNetwork says he's gay if anything,
Subbers says he's gay (somewhat vague, i know, but aside from Anbu&AONE and A-A, the only fansubber group who has subbed the whole series is S-Ai, short for Shounen Ai Fansubs, which implies, at the very least),
And Bunny-sensei MAKES him gay (just read the series and you'll see all the gayish situations he's in; everything from seducing Dark to doing...well...yeah, stuff with Daisuke).

Well... they're wrong, They need to pay better attention to the details, the fact that Satoshi is really smart and that he needed to get closer to Daisuke because of him being Dark, and from that he just wanted to tease him.

I didn't think about it that way. I shall now think in animé reality! Well then everything points to it that he is gay, but I still can't shake off me those moments in the last episode!
And man more people besides the two of us need to share their perspective on this thing.

I seriously don't think the sexuality of Satoshi is at any instant a topic of the series, in which case it is a slightly pointless discussion - if the creators would've made his 'orientation' a subject I think it would've been addressed more clearly - I don't doubt there's a lot of teenage girls who loves drawing Daisuke and Satoshi embracing eachother, but I think it's all there is to it. At least I watch D.N.Angel for other reasons

Besides, sexual orientation of charas is NEVER pointless and NEVER totally as the official says - especially in anime. *points bighand at sasuke*
Also, in the case of Satoshi, Bunny-sensei has never said anything directly according him being straight or gay or anything, so what we have to go on is what small inclinations we have in the series....

DNAngel really focuses on being Shojo. So the writers would aim Satoshi's action sometimes in a "bigender" ways, but he's not gay. Those two are still different.

I think she's a little too...weakish. Maybe not at the end she's not, there her character actually picks up quite a few notches, but, ngah, Riku beats her many many many times. (Especially since she's got a ninjathief bf -w- Private Dai-chan = INSTANT WIN!!!)

I laughed when I read that; but it's VERY TRUE. At first I thought Hikari-kun was straight(ish), but after watching the anime, I found evidence of his... eh, PREFERENCES, everywhere. How could anyone say Hikari-kun was straight? Puh-lease.
