Minix-tan is a teacher. Her students like her for making classes demonstrative. She is a quiet person, but only because she wants to let others find out on their own how great she is*. She is not a catgirl but a racoongirl. No one understands how she sets her priorities, her own stuff is always more important than anything someone else can want from her**. Despite that, generally she is reliable. When she falls down, she always starts up again.***
Her red book is crucial for her classes and also otherwse a guide to most things in her life. This is why she always takes it with her.
The sunglasses are supposed to make her look more racoon-girl-ish.
She rides on a floppy because she can.
What do you think?

You're description is certainly a bit more detailed from the original back from a couple of months ago. ^__^
Her role is especially important, given that she helped raise Linux-tan, who's contribution to this world I need not remind anyone of. -v-
The problem is that for whatever reason, that link doesn't seem to work. '__';
You didn't by any chance delete your album accidentally after it was posted? '';
No, I made it private :headbang:
Aa sou, that would explain it. ^__^
The new version's quite good -- the glasses do help accentuate the raccoon aspect of her, and the clothing seems to match better (although is it my imagination, or are those regular shoes?) The cross-legged stance and her neck seem a bit better executed in this version.
Her hair, however, seems like a slight nod towards HURD-tan instead. ^v^
BTW, I didn't actually notice any tail before on the original. '__'
Thank you!
She had no tail before... I pondered introducing one.
The hair... I wanted it as something all the Unices have in common. A family trait so to say.
It's good that you let me know that. -v-
Unix-sama's hair is meant to be very dark (almost black), but with preferably with a different color highlight. Purple wouldn't be a bad choice then. ^^
Later generation Unices, however, are probably far-removed enough from their roots to vary a little. The Puffy OpenBSD-tan, for instance, is blonde (and my version I'm planning is about 80% Puffy), and most of the FreeBSD-tan's drawn to date are red-haired (and so will mine). ^__^
NetBSD has silver, DragonflyBSD has green. -v-
Welll, some apples fall far from the pear tree, so to say :) Some children do not look like their parents. The idea of a nearly black haired Unix-sama sounds good to me! Con't wait to see her!
Thanks to Inkscape 4.5, I now have all the tools I need to keep Unix-sama 100% vector drawn!! ^v^
I've very excited myself (I should be, since I've been holding back for THREE freakin months!). ^^;
Maybe Fedora-dono's wallpaper contest might be just the boost I need to bring Unix-sama into this world. -v-
Her preconcept sketch, my first ever "OS-tan" so to speak, will continue to haunt me until I finally give her a worthy form. -v-

BTW, since the original UNIX doesn't seem to have an animal mascot, does an owl sound like a good quasi-symbol to you? Something attributable to wisdom and fortitude.... '__'
Sounds good! Maybe add a subtle sci-fi-ish touch (since she is the future of operating systems - since more than 30 years) :)
Her dress is of a very old style, but with distinctly-modern features. ^^
She also currently uses a wheelchair (not that she needs it, but there's a history to it), but it too has a simple yet distinctly modern look to it (think Charles Xavier). -v-'
None of the Unices specifically carry spears, but there is a small tradition in wielding at least something (such as the BSD pitchforks) that probably inspired the same tradition for the Linuces (although the latter have done a better job of maintaining that tradition). Unix-sama herself wields a notoriously simple polished-steel staff, with no defining features other than light inscriptions of Roman Numerals engraved into it.
Each is meant to represent a tenet of her Philosophy -- and all her pupils, past and present, have grown to HATE that staff since it's used extensively to test their intelligence (and punish their ignorance and/or lack of creativity).
She also uses it for her sorcery, though only as a limiter since she's far more dangerous without it. -.-
Added after 20 seconds:
BTW, about your opinion on the owl? ^___^
The roman letters are spelling out 1970? :)
More like "1,2,3,... etc", but the meaning isn't as clear cut as you would think it is, so just for the helluva it more than a handful of pupils have blurted out 1970 as a possible meaning. (and usually end up getting thwacked anyway)
Aaaaah, the things people would put up with for power..... ^.^
Added after 6 hours 31 minutes:
WOW!!! Did you see this up on the Inkscape website?!!! @o@

If I were Adobe, I'd start to shape up right about now. I don't recall Illustrator having blur effects (and if it does, they're probably buried in there where no one will notice). -v-'
If I was Adobe, I'd kill myself for the Acrobat reader, but that's besides the point.
The way the browser "tingles" every time it opens Adobe PDFs has always been unnerving, I suppose. ^^'
You can not imagine how much faster pdfs load in kpdf or similar programs. And how much less laggy reading is there.
