Post by: NejinOniwa on February 19, 2007, 02:56:02 PM
thread necromancy, brb
::::::::::

This has been converted from a sole DC-Tan art thread to a thread to inhabit all of my creations. Yarr!

ZOMFS late.
I know, but I haven't been doing very well lately and also my mind has wandered off onto other stages, so my little pirate couldn't get the attention she needed. But now, after a long bloody time of editing, shading, re-editing, cleaning, screwing things up, fixing them, and MOST OF ALL ixnay-on-the-color-choice, the first acceptably good image is done. Oh haels slow, yes, but at least not dropped into the waste bin and thrown away, or just forgotten in some random anonymous folder in the deeps of the hard drive. DONE. So here she is, DC-Tan. The bg is just blatant ripping of patterns in GIMP, but so what, that's what they're there for, deshou? Anyways, it's also time for a data update, since things that need you to go beyond your thought-out borders always happens...at least for me. (I'm a very impulsive person i guess)

::::::::DATA UPDATE::::::::
DC-tan

Age: 13
Hair: Grey/White, slightly more than shoulder length.
Eye color: Right eye is lightning purple, left eye covered by eyepatch, but possibly some sort of blue. (see below)
Nationality: Swedish, for some oddball reason. According to herself, it's something about the vikings.
Clothing: She wears either knee-length skirts or puffy pants, normally in black/white and similar colors, a sky-blue vest featuring the "download" and "upload" icons in green and red, an amethyst necklace round her neck, a pirate hat with a large DC++ icon on the front and a disturbingly black eye-patch.
Powers and the like: She has the ability to "skate" on blades of wind, allowing her to cover great distances very fast. She is a master gunman and usually carries around two 18:th century style ornate pistols by her waist. Also, below her eye-patch is her second eye, which is shifting in blue and silver circles, which can see incredible distances as well as through most walls...and other people's clothing.
Personality: She is slightly anti-social, quite shy and not very friendly against others, and seems to have a grudge against almost all the OS-tans. She also at times show signs of self-hate of some degree. Normally, she has a very sarcastic attitude and likes to make fun of people, but is a hard worker when she gets to it. When removing her eye-patch though, she loses nearly all traces of personality can at times become completely emotionless.

:::::::::END OF TRANSMISSION::::::::

That's it for today's data update, but I might do more later if i change my mind or get new ideas. Attachment does not like my pictures though, and since the original sized pic is big, I'll only post up the re-sized version.

NOW I WILL DAZZLE YOU.
(or at least, attempt to. Probably fail.)
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g239/NejinOniwa/OS-Tans/DC-Tan_Cubes-small.jpg)

Et voila! (Or something) I have to admit it is an improvement from the last one (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g239/NejinOniwa/OS-Tans/DC-Tan_SketchFirstpicEdit1.jpg), at the very least. What I also have to admit is that I STILL fail miserably at making her look any kinds of feminine, and this time all i did was making her look ways more evil. Um. Then again, she IS a pirate, so that may just be for the better.

Hope you like! ^-^;

Yo NejinOniwa.  ^__^
Well, I'm sorry to hear that all loads of problems have been preventing you from working on DC-tan.  But kudos to you for making the attempt to get a colored version up and running -- like you say, better finished than sitting all alone in your HD festering.  -v-

Slow speeds are a problem though (at least for me), so either you can continue drawing more to start picking up the pace, or you can try your hand at vector graphics to see if a "sculpting" approach better fits your thought process.

Or,... as you say, "impulsiveness".  ^__^'

QuoteNOW I WILL DAZZLE YOU. (or at least, attempt to. Probably fail.)

Well hell yeah, Kudos again for opting to draw and edit it yourself.  ^__^
Even if you don't seem to have a high opinion of your work, you should feel proud that you committed to all that stuff and accomplished it successfully.  Her concept is now on paper (or more specifically, on a digital medium), so you can add improvements as you like whenever you like.  ^v^

With the hardest part over, now's the time you offer us your wishlist of things you want added or changed.  For example, you want more feminine features,... normally that would be an easy tastk, but with so many feminine models out there, it might help if you had someone in particular that inspires you.  ^__^

BTW, doesn't look evil to me, though it could be that Kooh from 'Super Swing Golf' has desensitized me to the whole notion of evil pirates.... -v-

Guh. What can i say...?
Anyways, what's really my problem about the speed isn't really the drawing (considering i sketched the foreground to that pic in about an hour or so one late Saturday evening) but rather my extreme lack of speed in digital editing. Then again i noticed i got better at it quite much faster as i proceeded, so i think that my pace will probably pick up a bit with some practice (it usually does.), so aside from that there's just the problem of assigning time to work on it, since i still will probably need somewhere around two days (with an acceptable schedule) to complete a fair edit, with the methods i used on this one. I know all too well that my methods are, whilst quite accurate, VERY slow and rather primitive and so on, so if anyone has any good ideas and usual mistakes about editing, please let me know (I use gimp, fyi). The slowness of the edit on this one made me feel like such a DORK.

And about vectoring and digital art and stuff...i don't even have a clue of how to do good stuff with it, and i don't think i want to spend months of anger at my slowness of learning it, so, i'll just stick with what i already know fairly well for the time being.

Well I'd rather not assign speed as a gauge of "dorkiness", because you see,...

When I first tried my shot at carpentry last year, I was also extraordinarily slow -- accurate and systematic in my mind at least, but my snail's pace ensured a simple dollie (you know, the palette on wheels) required weeks to complete, as opposed to 1/2 hour for a professional carpenter.  And naturally, the end product was fault-ridden (I used wood screws instead of nuts/bolts, so it's longevity is suspect) and I did feel a bit,... like a moron at first.  ^___^

But I knew I was working on something I wasn't useful, and essentially teaching myself to do it, so I still felt a sense of pride that I had at least accomplished something on my own.  So I kept at it, making triumphs and mistakes over and over again, until finally,... though still not a professional carpenter, I can at least produce some very nifty, very creative and [most importantly] very STRONG pieces.  -v-

In short, don't beat yourself up for taking too long doing these things, as your unconsciously just trying to learn at your own pace.

The reason I stress speed is for a different reason,... if your real life needs are very demanding, I would rather your art interfere with those needs as little as possible (be it work or study or family needs).  Especially since the net practical benefit of art in our culture is perhaps not as high as it should be.  -.-
Naturally, the faster you can complete your work, the less intrusive it is while still offering the necessary morale boost to keep going. ^__^

QuoteAnd about vectoring and digital art and stuff...i don't even have a clue of how to do good stuff with it, and i don't think i want to spend months of anger at my slowness of learning it, so, i'll just stick with what i already know fairly well for the time being.

Okay, fair enough.  ^.^
But if you do change your mind, let me know.  ^v^

I'm still eager to show someone how easy and novice-friendly it is to sculpt in Inkscape.  ^___^
So far, not much success..... -v-'

Help? Maa...^-^
You can do as much as you like to help - I'm right now rather puzzled about the shading and stuff...ssu ^-^;
This project has been down for a while (school stuff), but sunday night gave me some inspiration and so now i'm halfway through the coloring of the next piccy, ssu. (Also, the sketch turned out much better ^-^ I guess i'm improving my skills!) Since I'm starting to experiment bits with shading and stuff (last time i just did clean colorings), i'd like any ideas there are for how to fix it up properly...currently it's the eyepatch that's bugging me, i mean, how are you supposed to shade that? I looked for references and ideas, but all i can recall is FMA's Roy, and his eyepatch isn't shaded at all, just plain black. I'm thinking of doing the same, but I dunno how that will work out, ssu...^-^;
Anyways, I've got a chemistry test and an ensemble taking up my time tomorrow, so i won't have much time before dusk on doing things, meaning it's most probable i'll be having this done on thursday night somewhere, or perhaps later if i do anything special.

By the way, with this piccy comes a new outfit for my lil' pirate, a some sort of coat which i don't really know much about except for that it's labeled with stars and icons that makes it look sort of like a military uniform or something. I'm having some trouble on deciding on coloring and stuff, anyone got any ideas? I'll post up my latest alpha on my photobucket gallery (http://s57.photobucket.com/albums/g239/NejinOniwa/OS-Tans/) if anyone wants to see the current status...it's not fixed with much though, so don't expect much, ssu ^-^; I can't do much wonders with GIMP-tan yet, ssu...

(On a side note, does anyone know if there's any GIMP-tan design around? If so, show somewhere; if not, I could lend my drawing skills out to some new software...)

Anyways, to sum it up, it's back up rolling after a long standstill, ssu!

No problem, then,... methinks I'll take a look at the shading issue then.  ^__^

Eyepatches can usually be left pitch black, but if you want crimps, folds and/or reflections and the like, then sure I'll draw you some examples of how you can go about it.  ^^
I'll check it out (your Photobucket version) before days end.  ^v^

There's barely just one Photoshop-tan that we know of, so fat chance that anyone's agreed to do a GIMP-tan. ^^;

You could try digging a little deeper into Kazumi,... however, my piggy sense says she's pretty much fair game.  ^.^

Sorry for the delay, I had to go fry up some tacos.
<.<

*hem*

There's no hope of that kind of findings at Kazumi, i've explored all of the Os-tan storages on Kazumi that i know of, and haven't even found the Photoshop-tan image anywhere (although I've seen it around here). Zen-zen...
Ah well, there goes another thing down on my to-do list, then!
*scribble*
So what should she be like, then? Maybe some likenesses with the gimp icon mascot animal thingy? (ano kuro, nagahana no mono-ssu)

Okay, cool new avatar!  I definitely see that you've been working on her some more!  ^___^

FYI, the link to your Photobucket Gallery seems to lead me to your login page instead.  ^^'

Please repost so I can check your work out and come up with some ideas about the new uniform (coloring and shading-wise, you say...).  -.-

I'll also need a bigger picture so I can work on that their eye-patch.  ^^
But just for starters, perhaps it'd be better to use simply a dark shade of gray instead.  That way, the shadow cast from that that bunch of hair over her face will be more noticeable.  Some light highlights in the top-middle section of the eyepatch (where the light reflects) could help too, since most eye-patches aren't matte but rather satiny or glossy.  ^^

Since the third alpha is way too big to post without messing up the thread, i'll post the resized fourth alpha here instead.

Ah yes, now we're cookin' with fiya!  ^__^
The softened details do help very much in accentuating her feminine features.  Her hair is gracious and full -- perhaps a bit frizzled, but certainly Moe material.  ^^
There is only a small hint of a breast, but I recall you told me that she's a bit on the young side, so no problems there.   We can problably move the nose downward a little, but this isn't much of an issue since the middle bang is covering it.

I am liking what I'm seeing, so I have to say your patience and self-teaching efforts are working.  ^__^

Hehehe! Ah, you just reminded me of how big time i suck on taking positive critique...-^-^-
Anyways, this is still just an alpha, and manual smudge takes a lot of time, so fixing the frizzly stuff and the raw lines takes a while, but of course that won't stop me, just delay me a bit. And as for her breast, well, I'm not sure how to make it more apparent without making it too much, so i'll lay low there for a while, i think. The middle bang is a classic for covering up for bad facial features - but also bit of a "thing" she has, since i've drawn it on her on every picture of her i've made so far, and thus has to be included...or something. But as i said before...
Does ANYONE have an idea for a color scheme?
As the software isn't really the most colorful thing ever, to say the least (all gray everywhere 'sept the icons), there's not much to go on, and the only thing I've thought of is blue, but that would be severe ripping off of 2k-sama, which would be frowned upon by both me and others (i think). Sooo....anyone? Pwetty pwease?

(Huh?  Suck at positive critique?  But you usually just nod your head through that... ^^')

Ah, so THAT's what you meant by the color scheme.  ^^

Honestly, didn't notice because the white works unusually well here.

Maybe the boots could be black, else the white overload makes her look like an angel instead of a pirate.

From pictures of Kooh-san, I've noticed that grays and blacks can work very well on cute pirates.  ^___^
Title: Demon's Horrible Arte Parade
Post by: NejinOniwa on March 28, 2007, 04:33:50 PM
Well, yes, but since her hair is gray/white, her hat is gray and her eyepatch is black, and i generally fancy some colors...well, you know. Also she's not supposed to look like an angel - she's a pirate, you know? ^-^;
And nodding my head is another way of sucking at that. Ne...

And in some random spurt of inspiration i sat down and started writing a fanfic. I wonder how long it will become before lose the spirit...?
Title: Demon's Horrible Arte Parade
Post by: C-Chan on March 28, 2007, 04:59:17 PM
On average, fanfic spirit usually lasts about 2 months, but you could break the mold ya know.... -v-

Well, the color thing all depends really on how you use it.  Certainly a mix and match of designs and patterns helps bring interest to a design even if the overall color scheme is dull.....

(http://miko3.jp/pict/diary/osy_050506_kooh_s.jpg)

You can still add your blue, but given that the programming language itself is not exactly begging for color, I'd add it sparingly for particular accessories, and not necessarily for extensive swathes of clothing (assuming that was your original intention, of course).  ^^

Um...wha? Sorry, but i can't read random squirmy stuff, since that's all i can make out of it, sorry ^-^;

Ah wellssu. Anyways, I've just started working on the beta stage, and things are moving up a bit. Two things are very unfortunate though;
First of all, not even the two-phased shading methods I'm using are faster than five pixels per fortnight, or something, when you do it manually. I'm gradually learning things with gimp-tan, but my learning speed sure could be a lot higher. Um.
The second thing is that I for the next week will be off for an easter trip to Norway, to catch a last sniff of the winter and do some final skiing for this year. This means, no network connection, no intarwebs. Luckily I'll be bringing the old laptop with me, so I'll at least be able to work properly - last time I discovered it's really hard to work without a frame of reference, and ended up doing nothing - so that means I'll hopefully have lots of new sketches to color once i get back home. (Of course, backside to that is that the coloring is what takes time, and I've got full school course back on once easter break ends, so that's bound to take helluva lot time). So that means, nothing new here for a week, but worst of all for me, no OSC OR INTERNET FOR A WHOLE WEEK! Hope i survive it... I'll be missing you.

I might put up some new stuff tomorrow, if I'm able to manage something between all the packing and stuff - but in case i don't, i'll put up these two. The first is the first color alpha of my original DC-Tan pic - the one that was wastefully unclean and smoddy all over, if you remember - and also current p3 beta status.

Hmm, rather certain that "หà¸â,,¢Ã Â¹â€°Ã Â¸Â²Ã Â¸ÂÃ Â¸Â" means "breast" (fits, in context ^^' )

As for my comments, I say great job! I can't wait until you soften all the pencil marks and make the colors a but more continuous!

Quotebut she's breast is = 0 cup. T T...

Cute.... Ã,¬vÃ,¬'

But in any case, sorry if I seemed to disappear for a while.  Truth be told, I replied to you some days ago, but the message apparently got quashed along with the old server.... ^^'

But in any case, I am glad you managed to proceed without any apparent difficulties, aside from the speed issue. The hair shading in your P1 DC-tan is pretty far along considering you're new at this, and I definitely like the choice of design elements employed in the P3 uniform. Not sure how much the Kooh-san picture helped (if at all), but certainly the effect is the same (intriguing design over intriguing color).  Shade work on her legs, neck and top of head is definitely proceeding as it should, I think.  ^^

Before she goes gold, however, I would definitely prioritize inking those lines.  DC-tan is already so far removed from her sketchwork, that the pencil etching sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the flat coloring.  When you do, don't forget to ink on a new layer (that way, you won't disrupt your color work below it).

In addition, you might need to change the eye color pattern, as the lightning does give the impression of nerves instead.  Unless that's the pattern you're aiming for (just like a ninja/pirate hybrid, an alien/pirate one?).
And that's all from the pig for now.  ^___^
If you catch this before you leave, have fun!  Bring back plenty of Kroners!  ^v^

All things I've said above were lies. LIES. LIES!!!!!!!!

<.<
>.>

Well, basically I got caught watching the 16 first episodes of Code Geass instead of working anything. And the fanfic spirit I talked about went out the same evening. So what now?
>.>
Well just to not make total fun of myself I'll just put up something entirely else here - something somewhat random, yet a reflection of my mood - that I rather threw together just a few minutes ago.
*hem*
It's called,
Darkness in a mirror.

He heaved out a last breath. The hot liquid trickled down his arms, small rivulets of life and death tickling his skin, and soaking his shirt. The boy giggled. He took up his hand and gave it a good look, but it was all too dark to see anything but another shade of black. Hope vanished, and the little boy bit his tongue. But then the irony taste that spread in his mouth gave him an idea. Slowly, he raised his hand to the level of his eyes. Then he licked it. And the taste of iron intensified. But this was something else, not only his own life - it was steel, the life of someone else. A joyous emotion spread inside him, a heat, a stir in his very soul that spread with the speed of the dark. Craving more, he bent forward, and felt his head become covered in the heat of life...

He woke up with a painful gasp. Every part of his body felt as on fire - his very soul was covered in the searing flames of the fyre of the goddess - and heavy drops of sweat covered every part of his naked skin, and had sunken into his clothing where there was. He saw the damp. He felt the darkness. But he recognized reality. And slowly the pain faded.
He sat up slowly, careful not to awaken the demons inside him again. Careful not to remember the demons. Careful. Careful...Careful?
What was that? Was it a dream? Or was it real?
A typical human question when facing the unknown, yet he did not even bother thinking it. He was sleep-derived, and now his sleep was betraying him - none, especially not his kind, could possibly have done as such. None of his kind.
And what if it was both? came the answer a moment later. Lost, dark mirrors to the past? A mirror of darkness and truth? The insides of you that none have seen, not even yourself?
He thought, but he thought without words. He saw, but he saw without eyes. Then he reached without his hands, into himself and far beyond, out on the other side of his soul. I need light, he thought. And light there was, a ball of black flames floating cold above his hand. Black light, how fitting, a voice said, but there was no light. Yet he was sure he saw a face in the darkness - a twisted, dark and malicious face, yet a mirror image of his own. And then suddenly it disappeared and he could see again, as if a mountain blocking the sun had suddenly been thrown into the sea.
The small tent he slept in was rather filled. Yet all he saw properly was his own cloak of the colors of flame, and his apprentice, lying on the far side. But when his eyes had adjusted to the world beyond their lids, he saw a shadow; A flickering shadow cast in the light of a campfire. The shadow of a boy. And before his mind's eye he saw again the image of so long ago, merged with the image of his dream. The golden boy in the shade of the flames, and the blue boy in the darkness of the mirror. Both covered in blood, and both grasping their steel of death firmly.
But yet something differed. Something slight, something small, yet something incomprehensibly vast of importance. Yes, that was it.
The boy in the dark mirrors wore a smile on his face; an innocent, joyous smile on a face where no last trace of sanity was left to leave behind, and his knife was sharp and unmarked.
The boy in the flickering light of the flames of war wore a coat of blood, and down his determined face trickled yet tears of regret, and his swords were rough and scarred of years of war. And within him shone a light that washed away the dark soul of the mirror boy - and spread fear and hope alike to all.
He laid down again, and let out a tired sigh, but it was yet a sigh of relief. No, he's not like that. Despite what I thought back then, I see now. And his face is true and sane - as is his soul.

I wish only the same could be said of ourselves...

As you might have noticed if you read this, it's totally unrelated to the topic of this thread, so I'm not really sure why I even bother putting it up. Although I guess it IS art, somehow. Um. Um. Anyways, now I've got to sleep. Sorry, everyone. Norway's been hard on me. Oyasumissu.

hoh..... No fanfic then,... '_'
But some kick-ass prose at least to get your creative juices flowing,... so it can't be all bad, no?  ^^

Can't really say much as I'm only an art specialist and suck at literary critiques.  -v-'
To me, it's.... deep.  ^__^'

Lately, some of you have heard complaints from me about me feeling cheap as an artist for no work and all play. Now, I am on vacation in the americas (w00t!), just finished reading through the whole Megatokyo series in less than 7 hours and being depressed about my terrible sunburn (i hate florida. not much, but enough.) and thus have recovered my sense of life. Or something. Now, with me NOT being in Dead Nejin mode, I think it's time i did something creative for once. I have no scanner right now but i will when i get to texas in two days, and by then I should have at least some stuff ready, ne?

Oh, but first. As you might have noticed, I am currently on VACATION!!!
So I'll spend some 5 minutes to give you a quick recap...

First, flying over the atlantic was pretty savvy. The flight to Heathrow wasn't all that bad either, but the 747 we (meaningly I, my family and my onii-chan's girlfriend) rode over the great, blue ocean to JFK was fukken SAVED. And one of the stewards looked EXACTLY as James Bond series' Q, this was pretty amusing.
Our days in NYC weren't all that bad, although we didn't do much stuff really, just visiting Ellis Island, ground Zero and Chinatown, as well as squirrel-gazing in Central Park (heh heh). Currently I am residing in a fukken savvy villa in Hollywood, Florida, and during our days here we've drenched ourselves in the pool, the salty waters of Marathon out on the Florida Keys, and spit on gators in the Everglades (yes i know, that was very rude of us, but i didn't do it, promise). Tomorrow will be our last day here (with today being the day for the rest of the family to slack off with shopping, and for me to get up to date with my digital life), and we'll be visiting EPCOT before going to Dallas on wednesday. I'm such a happy little tourist, ain't i?

(i still hate florida though, damn damp shitcrap!)

Updates will come on both art and travels, most likely on wednesday evening (central time) sometime. Until then,

//Nejin-ssu

....SSUUUUUUUUU~!

^-^

So, took a little bit longer than expected, but we come here now and late is better than never, ain't it? And now I'ssu got stuffs with me. Not good quality at all cuz i dun have no scanny, so I just used a damn camera to take effin PICTURES of it, but think of it as sort of an, well, exclusive preview. *hem*
But just to bathe myself in my own blown-up sense of self-importance, I shall first delay ye with mindless ramblings on my travels until now.

Getta no speedo namerunaiyo~ -w-

Firstly, my days with my cousins in Dallas were somewhat more hectic than i had predicted them to be - with both Six Flags as well as getting rabid fangirls tying up my hair in ribbons, PINK RIBBONS WITH LACE, OH THE HORROR!!! - and I had thus no time for neither artistry nor even connecting up to this honorable outpost of the intarwebs - sorry 'bout that. Then i spent a few days in the great land of Arizona, in the first city to ever implement laws that restricts the light-pollution to near zero - Flagstaff. From there i learned that the desert is really big, the grand canyon is YES, very grand, thank you very much - and overheated as a damn oven to boot, but pretty to look at nonetheless - and also, that maybe I should have chosen some basic Astronomy instead of Psychology in high school (The Lowell Observatory was, well, as the man of science i am, a haven, yessu, a haven~). Oh, and also, why aren't railroads in the US electrified? Those trains are FUKKEN NOISY, slow as a taser'd snail, to boot.
And because of that it took a whole damn night for us to get to LA, and those beds weren't really the best either, so my spine was killing me. Anyway, yesterday we were just slacking off - although i have to say that those Pacific waves packs a punch; they're like an aquatic body slam!  - but today came a change, with my little sister's birthday (I HAS DELICIOUS CAEK, MUST EAT IT!!! >w<), and some friends from home who ran into us - man, the world is fukken small, when you think about it that way! - but not until this evening have i had time - yes, i've been damn busy! - to take good reach and fire up my paper and pencil and draw something. Tomorrow's going to be anything but tranquil, though - If anyone's down in the area, I'll be a VIP on the Key Club during the night - thanks to personal relations with the manager - and watch Metal Skool (some seriously good cover-band guys, if my info is right) 'til 3 AM, so drop by and say hello to the guy who looks like a girl! (Apparently I do, since half of the times some cashier, flight attendant, security personnel or whatever they address me as "Miss", which i find both disturbing and amusing.)

Anyways, onto what you've probably scrolled past all that rambling to see, the piccus! As i said it's just a non-edited sketch, and lacking both programs and scanner I really can't make it any better right now, but anywayssu! It's something, ne? So...have fun. ^-^

Oh, and cappy, please don't kill me for the gun looking like crap, I suck at guns, seriously. So this is some sort of, um, Emo DC-Tan, or maybe not, but, like, cut up and stuff regardless. With a gun. So...yeah, watch out. ^^

Nejin-san! It's been a while since we have seen you, ne?
Welcome back, and nice drawing.
I don't have much to say about your trip, other than "Don't judge all the US's rail systems by one state's. I'll have you know that there are some places with very nice 'electrified' ones."

I don't think you need to worry to much about the gun since a)it is a sketch, b) it's a pirate's gun, it's entitled to look different! ^^;

Yo Nejin-san!  ^___^

*turns neck sideways*

*snaps necK*

GAH!  >_<

I take it you didn't bring your Buntu CD after all, cause otherwise you could've used GIMP or something.  ^^
The sketch is good, but I take it the photo doesn't do it justice, and besides that it could've used a 90 degree clockwise rotation.  ^.^
The "cappy" would kill you over something else long before he'd notice the gun.  ^v^

Sounds like your trip is goin' rather fun (I mean, by GAWD, you're seeing the Grand Canyon!).  ^___^
As for the trains, that's easy.  The powers that be in the States HATE trains and would rather they just go away at long last and be replaced with more cars.  The louder and noiser the trains are now, the more incentive citizens have of buying cars and the more incentive tourists like yourself have of renting one.  ^.^

Granted there are exceptions (the light rails in New Jersey are very cool, and it's no small wonder they're built in Japan -- in stark contrast to New York City subway transit which is chock full of HORRORS... @__@), but you're not gonna find [say] nationwide Maglev trains in the States any time soon.  ^___^'

A submarine going that fast is bound to kill half a million critters by the time it gets to its destination, not unlike how that terrible new US Navy sonar system blasts the ear drums of whales.  ^^;

Nuh-uh, the C-chan is not investing any money on that.  Come to me about floating and/or underwriter cities, and now you're talkin'!  ^v^

okaeri nasai, Nejin-san!
We all wait patiently for your new pictures!
Though, if you don't mind, please try to be a little less vulgar and perhaps a bit more decipherable? Arigatou!

Quotenot unlike how that terrible new US Navy sonar system blasts the ear drums of whales. ^^;

Well, I can't claim to be an expert in this field, but due to the nature of Sonar, it's bound to cause a bit of underwater disturbance. I highly doubt that it is exclusively the US. Then again, I could be wrong.
Title: Demon's Horrible Arte Parade
Post by: C-Chan on August 20, 2007, 08:25:41 PM
Maybe, maybe not, but with billions of dollars more than any other country to spend each year on fancy and wastefully expensive toys, chances are very high that its a US navy exclusive.

This thing in particular is called "high-intensity, mid-frequency sonar".  As far as I can tell, it was banned for a while during a training exercise last year, but then reinstated with some restrictions.

QuoteThough, if you don't mind, please try to be a little less vulgar and perhaps a bit more decipherable? Arigatou!

Harhar!  You mean you tried to read what Nejin-san is saying?  ^___^

I dunno, I just kinda doze off once the "aroplanez"s and the "TOF***INGMORROW."s start appearing.... ^___^;

Ah, gomen gomen, Tsubashi-san... ^-^ But one thing you're good at is making me come up with new words! Like, ever heard anyone say "Fleshly" about jetlag before? And Toffeemorrow? Hah, I laugh at myself.

Anyway...
Just came home from school, so I have to rehabilitate myself with some Halo 2 for a while. Pics ^might^ come up tonight, depending on how much i must edit them first.

Hah! That's what you get for trusting me with time. I say they might get up tomorrow, and I scan them like 20 days later. I suck, it's official. -.-

Anyway! NOW I've finally gotten my  @ss out of the bucket and scanned the pics I made during various flights here and there to my compy. Yes, yes, i know, but I've fixed a scanner to my own computer now so it'll prolly speed up in the future. Stupid, useless network setup. Anyway...
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g239/NejinOniwa/OS-Tans/DC-Tan_P4-mined.jpg)
That's righto!
Editing is in progress, and while it WAS a while since last time, I just keep learning new things here, so it shouldn't take as long as the previous ones to edit and color (shading might be a damn bitch thou).

Also have 2 more scanned pics, but they ain't going up 'til they got themselves some smoochin. ^^

Or maybe I do.

Tip: sketch, a lot. Even if it's only stick figures, it can really help with you perspective skills and trying different poses. Look at other people's drawings, and try to figure out how they made them...

And go on dA and search for some drawing tutorials, those can be a help too.
