:P well fine, if they wear mostly what looks like spandex/foam rubber body fitting suits, with what looks like underwear on the outside.. i dont read em.

mostly I read darkhorse comics, they did alot fo movie adaptations and the like. Such as the verios Aliens ones

Ok I read Topcow, DC, Marvel, Darkhourse, as well as underground comics. so basically you judge a book by it's cover from what i'm hearing anyway.

Thats why cover art is soppose to grab you.  There are alot of comics out there, and i have to narrow down which ones im going to get somehow.  Superheros in skin tight suits do not interest me.  Marines in space battling aliens does.  They may be well written.. but if i dont like the look of the characters or art... i cant be bothered to buy it.  Too much out there that does catch my eye.

well i've read a few. mainly DC comics; identity crisis, kingdom come, green lantern stuff, i plan on reading countdown to infinite crisis. my brother is the one who keeps reading comics he usually recommends to me the good ones. i actually enjoy comics as much as manga. :)

I read an occasional comic book.

I dislike most mainstream comics. They tend to be unoriginal. Many also require you to read a few previous issues to understand what's going on and then read a few more to get to the end of the storyline. The art is also formulaic. I like variety.

I do read a LOT of web comics. 42 at the moment.

The Flight series is one of the few printed comics worth getting.
I always pick up a few interesting books at the SD Comic-Con, too.

ya web comics are a lot of fun. and i agree that the mainstream comics tend to be unoriginal, but so are most web comics, anime, manga and other literature.

It really is hard to be original these days it seems like everything is being reused and recycled. ;026

Well that depends on what you read right now marvel and dc are doing really good and you can read the comics online now. The civil war is going really good right now spawn is doing really good with Armageddon saga.

You can read them all right  here

Spawn is another one I like.  Todd Mcfarland is a pretty bad ass artist if you ask me.  especialy since he didnt draw before 18.. He is quite the insperation to people like me.  Havent picked any up in a long time tho.  I always wait till they get bound in graphic novel form now.  As Mr cat said.. if you miss and issue your lost.. and i dont like that. Getting the graphic novel is like getting a volume of a manga.. you get the whole story.. "or at least that segment of it"

Im gonna miss SD comic con.... now that ive moved back to washington I doubt ill be going back often if at all.  Tho it was nice while it lasted.  Have several sketch book pictures done by the guys form penny arcade.

No an actual anime made from Japan not copy cat anime like teen titans or The Batman. Oh here is the trailer for the Aphrodite IX anime another  one of topcows project.

Pharodite. hehehe that aphrodite IX looks nice,

wasn't sigma 6 made in japan?
i though it was made by studio gonzo?
when would the turtles come out?
oops. i'm getting off topic again. bad habit.

anyway, i don't really like the civil war thing in marvel. i would seem like the villains in marvel are a bit too quiet now that the good guys are fighting each other

I think the turtles are coming out like late summer and The civil war is good and actually the bad guys were just released from their jail cells thanks to Ironmans side and the government.

Well yeah Ironman is being a total Asshole siding with government and all that good stuff I mean everyone knows the you can't trust the Government.  And then Spiderman took off his mask in front of everyone. So everyone knows now the spiderman is Peter parker.  And a clone of Thor Actually killed a fellow superhero so yeah it's war alright.

Yeah it's not skin tight it's not even a costume it's an alien parasite that has bonded it self to a human host just had to make that clear, because people think alot comic book characters outfit are skin tight costumes when they are not frabric at all. For instance the Green lanterns costume is not a costume it's substance that comes from the ring that allows him to breath in space in things of that nature.

Spawn is pretty much the only non-Jap comic I like. I've always loved "war in heaven" plots :D I did have some of the graphic novels but they started to fall apart from overuse =/ Now I just torrent them.

I've always assumed its just bad perspective in that pic personally, like she is supposed to be much smaller than Venom but the artist doesn't quite pull it off

Oh yes, but you have to go to a comic book shop to get them usualy.  There you can find even underground comics if you know a good store.. but the places average people frequent, like book stores.. most of the ones i go to have cut their comic books to one measely rotating rack for current ones, and a single shelf for the compliation graphic novels.. as where manga tends to have its own section.   I see the same sort of trend for the popularity of american animation vs anime..

I like comics, but I definitely prefer the older ones.  I know something about this was mentioned earlier, but I just wanted to point out that I think this "lack of originality" is especially common in comic books today.  I say that because I think I've seen more innovative television shows than heard about or read about innovative comics as of late.  The whole "Ultimate" schtick with Marvel has pretty much pissed me off.  Of course, I suppose my perspective is kind of narrow-minded given that I'm a bit of Marvel-loyalist (when it comes to comics, that is).  Anyway, I found a whole shitload of my dad's old comics when I moved a few months ago... great stuff.  The original Secret Wars kick ass.

Right well, what are you reading now and what do you think about it? I am reading the Civil war for marvel and reborn Onslaught,  the current story from Switchblade top cow, Lady Death lost soul too need to get issues #1 for that I got #2 and I been getting a lot of back issues of Shi just reading way of the warrior and year of the dragon.

The marvel Civil war was ok but I wished to it end a little better, I would have thought more character would have been killed off in the last fight and the art I was ok with, the Onslaught reborn has just started so nay much having in that. Always a big fan of Lady Death and Shi story and art are always good for me loll.

and I doubt Hollywood will use Galactus in there version of FF4, I'm just hoping this one is much better than the first one which in my opinion was not even watchable.   I mean having DR. Doom defeated so easily is just wrong and since when did Victor Van Doom ever fall for Susan Richards ( he never did)
