Yeah...I know it's been done before in many other forums, but...

What Anime/Manga(s) have you seen?

(and also give a short critique of it, just to keep it this thread interesting...)

Anime
  • Love Hina

The first series I have seen, and by far one of my top favorites. It has a simple and easy to follow storyline and the artwork is pretty good (even though it was only "Love Hina Again" that most closely followed the art style of the original manga by Ken Akamatsu). I highly recommend this anime to everyone.

  • Noir (part of it only...dang I need to finish this series :P)

Another one of my favorites. Even though I haven't finished the series, it still ranks high on my charts because of the storyline, the artwork, and especially the music. (If you might not be entirely satisfied with the anime, I bet that the music would still be appealing to you). Noir had gained a large portion of popularity due to the music in the anime.

  • Mai HiME

One of the newer animes that had come out near the 4th quarter of last year. The whole series could be found online fansubbed. It was the first anime series I downloaded, and I downloaded it just out of curiosity. When I first watched it, I was hooked. This is another anime whose soundtrack was created by Yuki Kajiura, where she did another amazing job at. And again, the storyline was simple but unique, with its own twists, and the artwork was very good. (Oh...and they have a second Season coming up)

  • Maria-sama ga Miteru

Another classic anime. I, personally, loved the story...Very heart-warming, and sometimes tear jerking. I've grown to like these shoujo storylines. The first thing one might notice is that these storylines have a greater depth and complexity to them compared to many action animes (usually aimed toward boys). Sometimes it's just good to take a break from the big, explosive, violent, and action packed animes and watch something wholesome and something that appeals to the kinder points in life. The artwork was well done And I'm listening to the OST right now.

((I've seen other animes, but these are the only ones I want to talk about at the moment... :P))

    Manga

  • Love Hina

Man, Borders is expensive...But the whole 14 volume set was well worth it. I loved the anime, and as you know...The mangas usually contain more stuff compared to the anime.

  • Samurai Deeper Kyo (not completed)

Yea...I'm not finished with the entire series, but my overall impression is that the series is very good. The artwork is very good, and it has a good balance between and healthy serving of violence, blood and gore, and other action goodies, and a nice large side of comedy.

  • Mahou Sensei Negima (not completed)

The latest creation by Ken Akamatsu. I've grown to be attached to Akamatsu's work...Or would it be the girls and the fan service...I don't know. But I've go to hand it to him, he's a very good artist. The story is pretty interesting and unique. A ten-year old child prodigy is sent to Japan to teach a class of students in junior high. He's lucky...LOL

  • Hikaru no Go (not completed)

Another manga series I have started working on, and so far it has made me want to learn how to play the Japanese logic game Go. The art is simple and well drawn, and the storyline is straight forward. But I think it's pretty cool how the writer made a story about a board game seem interesting.

((I have more manga, but these are the main ones I am working on completing))
O_O wow.....thats really....really good in details I ever have seen .....Keep up the good work on those anime listing like that .

Ooo, I always screw up lists like this and miss alot xD Hem, I'll prob add more when I think of them...

Anime

~ His & Her Circumstances; Kare Kano: First series I loved to death. Go Gainax! I even got used to the English soundtrack on the DVD... so sad the series got cancelled at 26 epis... the manga runs the story on, and I think it's still going ;____; I need to find money and get the rest. Anywhoo, nice teenage love story with awesome characterism and use of animation, and soundtrack. Down point: re-caps. Highly Recommended.

~ Love Hina: Ah... I think I forgot to watch the end of the series . And my friend has yet to lend me the manga, but I believe it was the first Anime DVD I bought at my first anime con EVER. Totally fun, yes awesome... Kaola <3

~ Revolutionary Girl Utena: Well, at first it wasn't as good as I thought it'd be (love the OP song), I sort of still want to compare it to the manga... think it has flow issues. But the concept overall was awesome... the 2nd season was pointless but fun (isn't it all pointless? xP), I've yet to see the end of the series... of course I've seen the movie though. Whoot eyecandy and MORE meaninglessness...? I love the movie still *shrug* The style appeals to me for some reason (yay sticks~) And all it's wonderful eyecandy... characters are all a little screwed though. ((plus I kill their fag pants...stupid pants))

~ Chobits: So many hate Chi... what's to hate? ;_____; She's like a Pikachuu with boobs~ ((is that why you hate her?!)) I love persocoms, the CLAMP bitches get too much love, but I love them xP Yea, I read all the manga and saw all the anime ((once again supplied by my friend~))

~ Gravitation: Just putting this down because it was HIGHLY disappointing to me and I haven't gotten my chance to give a little rant to many yet. If you don't know, this one's the.... yaoi rock band type thing one, with the blonde and the pink-haired dude. The flow is awful... the colours are eyehurting and clashy, the characters are unrelatable and unlovable and shallow and have no point... Shuichi's outfits were okay from time to time. Cue pointless yaoi kisses. *stabs* This probably won't be the last time I end up with a really crappy anime because my affiliation with yaoi drags me into it. BUT IT WAS SO HIGHLY ACCLAIMED! *glares at it* The OVA sucked much too. High point: opening theme song, minus the opening animation. I did watch the whole (short) series, though.

~ Pretear: Ha ha... '^^ Very mahou shoujo, based around "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs". Only the seven dwarfs are bishounen boys... all you really needed to know o____o I'm over it... though I liked the short series at the time xD

Aaaah, all those series seem so shoujo T___T I have so many more series I've seen a few epis of that I MUST continue... Kino's Journey is one...

Manga

'-_____- Mostly CLAMP...

~ WISH by CLAMP: Favourite and first... nice short 4 book series... very shoujo. Tsubaki Nekoi~

~ Alichino: AWESOMELY drawn series, I got through scanlations... It'd be nice if the next book was out. Fantasy story line, androgynously drawn characters... and the fun mystery of discovering whether or not Enyu is male or female for THREE FRICKEN BOOKS!

~ Gouhou/Legal Drug: More CLAMP, more Tsubaki Nekoi. <3 Damm CLAMP bitches, should finish a story... shounen ai and fantasy, centered around a pharmacy... they have psychic powers *shrug* Kakei-san!

~ Shinshi Doumei Cross; Gentlemans Alliance: Arina Tanemura's newest, the starting was better, but she lost her knack somewhere... I love Tanemura's style.

~ + more CLAMP crap here and there xD Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles... hearts for that, must get more fansubs.

Waah, anyway xD I got carried away... one does not have to read all of that *shrug* It kept me procrastinating my homework <3

QuoteMahou Sensei Negima (not completed)

^ Hell ya! Ken Akamatsu~ Maaan, I love his cute skill at all the cute cute fanservice <3 Negi rocks... 31 school girls, yes please thankyou. I only got up to volume... 4, I think.

Post by: FabianN on April 28, 2005, 11:55:03 PM
I'll try to list all that I have seen... I'll start with my favs.

Neon Genesis Evangilion--
I know, I know... almost everyone loves this. I just can't get enough of it. The characters are just so well fleshed out. But for me, the real story did not start till about half-way through the series... Everything before that was just a way to discribe the characters in such a detail that they become real, and at the same time being eintertaining.

Kare Kano--
I swear, if it had not been for the last few eps where Anno left, this would have knocked Eva down to 2nd. It's got the same depth in the characters as in eva, and, like all of the other GainaX shows that I've watched, is all about growing up.

FLCL--
I know, I know... GainaX, GainaX, and more GainaX... they are just sooo kick-ass at storytelling. I just loved this series, which, again, was about growing up. And I can't get enough of it. Great sound-track, great story, and great fun.

Magical Shopping Arcade Abenonashi--
Last GainaX one I'll mention  . This one, just slaps everything we love with the silly-stick. It carrys the GainaX style, and is really like FLCL, only 26 eps long.

Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X--
I liked the series about half way in it. About when it got to the point with the dude that looks like a mummy, it just got... boring for me. But the OVAs... Both Samurai X's... Those, I loved those, and the end of both of them, I cried. You can really feel Kenshin's pain, and it's very touching.

I'm just going to list the rest of the Animes that I have seen:
Appleseed (the new movie)
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell 2
Dominion Tank Police
Akira
Alien Nine
Blood, The Last Vampire
Blue Submarine No. 6

Yukikaze

And these are ones that I have, but havn't gotten around to watching yet:
Ikki Tousen
Nausicaa
Steam Boy
Xenosaga - The Animation
Boogiepop phantom
Gunbuster

As for mangas, my No. 1 favorite is...
Parasyte--
This is just a really deep and thought provoking story. Really makes you look at the world around out all over agian.

GTO--
What can I say... Very funny, but also has interesting storys of growing up. Really enjoy this one

Love Hina--
Never seen the anime, and I keep telling myself to see it, but atleast I've read the manga :D

Battle Vixens (Ikki Tousen)--
Boobs and fighting... what more can a guy ask for in a manga?

Blade of the Immortal--
Really wounderful art. And the story... such a interesting story. Oh, and sweet weapons.

Chobits--
Like love hina, havn't seen the anime, but read the manga, and I really enjoy it. One of the few Clamp storys that I liked

Evangelion
Excel Saga
FLCL
Full Metal Panic
Fushigi Yugi
Hellsing
Lone Wolf & Cub
Oh My Goddess!
Real Bout High School
Video Girl Ai

thats about all I have seen/read. I know theres some here and there that I missed, but... oh well.

 Anime
  • Raimuiro Senkitan

Now this anime has been highly debated about, and if you're anime forum fluent, not that well reviewed. I've only finished half of their first season (13 episodes), and I don't know where I am able to acquire the 2nd season, therefore this review will be cut short, until I finish this season.

    Overall Synopsis:

    * Based on a game by ELF (strangely enough...based on an H-game 0_0...And I'm serious...there are clear situations that hint to its origin...)

It was Meiji 37 or year 1904 (somewhere in the timeline of Sakura Taisen), when The Great Empire of Japan started to increase its national power quickly by the westernization during the Meiji era. On the other part of the world, Czar Russia was going to extend its hegemony to the East and hence started a war against Japan. The war is known as Russo-Japanese war right now. Japanese army with quick series of victories over Russia astounded the world. The war culminated with the fall of Russia's Port Arthur (Lushun in China) to the hand of Japanese army.

The story of this anime starts from when the Japanese army is getting readied to attack Port Arthur by establishing a training camp (called Tendai Genjo Gakuin) for female pilots in Hokkaido. Umakai Shintaro, a former diplomat who was residing in Russia once, is chosen to supervise the training.

Although five girls (Sanada Momen, Honda Sarasa, Katou Asa, Fukushima Kinu, Kuroda Rinzu and Ichijouji Sumi) who are assigned to him overwhelm him, his sense as a teacher brings him to guide these girls to complete their secret mission, although he does not even know what the secret mission is (which is to destroy the mysterious Russian Army at Port Arthur in Lushun).

    Synopsis taken from AnimeNfo.Com

    Episodes 1 - 8 Analysis

So far, this anime is pretty decent. Yes, I know some of you might say that this anime stinks and is one of the worst, but I can't help it if I am very leinent about judging things, and a sucker for fanservice. The latter, fanservice, is one of the few words that sum up this anime. Fanservice, fanservice, FANSERVICE. Yes, and there is quite a lot. There is the cliche male main character who is always wants to be friends with everyone but then has to deal with all the girls' advances on him. And then of course are the girls, one of who is the clumsy trippin' over and revealing the panties in the main character's face type; there's the loud mouthed "I won't lose to anybody type;" then we have the tomboy "I...I love you...But I...I..." lost for words type; we can't forget the helpless megane type; and finally we have a quiet mysterious type. Ohhh...Great line up...Very unique *note sarcasm*

Ok...Where was I? Up to where I have watched, I have almost forgotten the fact that these girls' mission was to attack some base, right? Many would argue that this anime has a bad storyline, and therefore is horribly bad because of that, am I right? But one must look past the storyline, the storyline does not define anything if the anime was not designed originally for the storyline; in this case it's to attack a Russian port. My idea is that this anime is about character development. From the onset of the anime, these are young girls, still in middle or grade school, fighting in a war, a war that had nothing to do with them. The true emphasis of this story is to portray character development. In the anime, we see them grow, as we see them open their minds and hearts to each other and the main character. The anime portrays this in how the special Raimus, special suits of power that are controlled by the thoughts and actions of the girls (think remote controlled robots), of the girls grow in power in order to defeat the enemies.

This is all I am going to write for now because I want to finish the rest of this season.

    laterz for now...
OK! Back for part two!

Episodes 9-13

All I have to say is...Ohmygosh...MORE FANSERVICE! FANSERVICE! FANSERVICE! FANSERVICE! FANSERVICE!!!! Jeez...And at some parts, not just in these episodes, but in the whole series, it continuously hints that this anime was based on an H-game. I don't want to go into the details, but it's mostly about "all the girls want to do it with the main character." Oh, and I almost forgot one more thing...Whenever one of the girls are in need of energy (power to use their Raimus), the guy needs to step in and do "you know what."

Yup...And now for some things that don't involve sleeping with the main character. The girls in the story end up defeating the bad guys and they all live happily ever after...wow. The End.

OOC: ugh...I don't feel like writing now...I've been trying all afternoon to post on NS.

Coming Soon on Let's Talk Anime...

Kannazuki no Miko**

*Short Note*

This...This...This is one of the greatest animes I have ever seen!!! I'm sooo moved by it that I can barely write. I...I'm going to cry because it's so touching. The emotion. The love and romance. I haven't been this moved since Maria-sama ga Miteru.

I'll write my review about it some in the near future, 'cause im going to watch it again. If I were you, I would go download this anime from one of the fansub sites - Static Subs did a very good job at subbing the anime.

**Actually Kannaduki no Miko ("-zu-" and "-du-" are both the same and do not change the meaning of the word.)

 Anime
  • Kannaduki no Miko

Kannaduki no Miko has by far become one of my favorite animes out there. Despite critical reviews, majority of which criticize the mecha aspect of the anime (which I agree with), I believe that the story behind the anime is very exceptional. The animation was very good, even though the mechas look cheezy. The OP and ED songs were very appropriate for the anime and its story.

Kannaduki no Miko is about two young girls, Himemiya Chikane and Kurusugawa Himeko. Set in a quiet town surrounded by nature. A town so quiet where one would never think anything bad will happen. Then suddenly, on the girls' 16th birthday, a centuries old curse reveal itself, in the form of a giant mecha that is piloted by Himeko's possessed childhood friend, Souma (something). Souma then realizes that he is attack the one person he has loved his entire life, Himeko. Chikane and Himeko must now assume the roles of the Sun and Moon shrime maidens to defeat the evil behind the curse. (errr...I think I plagiarized somewhere...)

Kannaduki no Miko, looking beyond the mecha, is a tried and true love story. I cannot emphasize that point enough. Many viewers are detracted from the anime because of the mecha. I ask myself "why mecha?" but I assume the creators wanted to be 'unique.' Where was I...A love story between the two main characters, who happen to be both girls. Yes, I know yuri...Yuri is so great, isn't it? In my opinion, yuri dramas have more depth and complexity, compared to regular boy x girl dramas (I don't want to think of yaoi animes...eww). This aspect of the anime was the one that touched me so much. I admit that I am a sucker for angsy romance stories, even if I'm a guy. In her heart, Chikane is deeply in love with Himeko. Being from a rich family and coupled with her immense popularity, she can get anything she wants, but not true love. It's sort of a cliche with these kinds of characters where they are showered with everything and the love they given usually is very superficial. They also don't have true friends, because everyone thinks of them as people who are on a different level than the regular people, like royalty. Now, with Himeko, she is the first person that acknowledges Chikane as a regular person-disregarding all the formalities that had accompanied Chikane's status. Himeko becomes Chikane's first true friend. They were like two halves that fit perfectly together. Soon they find out that their meeting and their close relationship was not coincidental. Their relationship had existed from centuries ago in their previous life.

I haven't even gone over the details of this drama. Souma had been Himeko's friend since childhood. Souma's feelings for Himeko have not faltered since then. Now comes the twist in the story, Himeko is split between Souma's confession of his feelings, and her own feelings for Chikane. Chikane, of course, hid her true feelings of love from Himeko as not to scare her away. Chikane then suppresses her true feelings for Himeko as she supports Himeko's relationship with Souma. She suppresses her grief and angst with a smile and a helping hand. Chikane is the type of person that would do anything to make the person she loves happy, even if she, herself, suffers.

At a point in the anime, which I do not want to describe in detail because of major spoilers, that ancient evil/curse interferes with Chikane and Himeko's relationship. In the end they realize their true feelings for each other.

(phew...it's so hard to write a review for this anime because it is so hard for me to find the right words to describe it.)

"OOC" means "Out of Character." I'm used to RPing, so when I type OOC, that means that what is said does not pertain to the subject of the topic. Like this anime thread.

you guys are lucky, you have CN, apparently, I'm just too lazy to subscribe for it... Hmm.. Also, what does that "OOC" stuff stand for anyways? I've been seeing it so lately, I just need to figure out what it stands for...
actully, I don't watch CN much... last time was a few months ago.

I get my anime from the local comic book store. It's $2 for two days rental.

Post by: CaptBrenden on July 26, 2005, 01:46:33 AM
egads.  Blockhead me posts in the wroung forum about Ken Akamatsus work and every one is talking about it here o.O

He is by far my favorite manga artist.  However I think no one mentioned AI Love You so far.  I think it was his first masive manga work. Anyways its about a dweb alot like Keitaro exep he is a genius at computers.  Out of fustration for sucking with the ladies he creates an AI girl on his computer for a girlfriend.  A freak accident brings her to life.  The rest of the manga is him and her developing their relationship while she tries to become more and more human.  Another exelent manga in the "exotic girlfriend" catagory

Love Hina is still my favorite.  It really shows how well Akamatsu creates his characters.  I too have seen it and have all 14 books as I am a rabid fanatic for the series.  My favorite part is books 11-12 (love hina again timeframe) where keitaros little sister Kanako shows up to cause much havoc.  She was my favorite character in that series (followed closely by shinobu) but I think she is a misunderstood character by anyone who has just seen the anime.

The amount of material cut from the last 4 books of the manga could practicly make a second love hina series instead of a 3 episode mini series.  In the anime Kanako is potrayed as just an obstical, heck almost a villan, that the hero must overcome to be with the girl he love (violent donkey punching girl that she is), but in the manga she is a very in depth character that really was ment to be addition circle of girls around him.  She also added a very real and very serios love triangle to the series.  Through out the whole first part of the series it is very evident who he would end up with because the compition was either in denial (motoko) or too shy to do anything (shinobu).  But kanako was very proactive and a very real and eminent threat to Naru which added alot of spice to the story.  I also like her for that fact.  She was the only girl that never once did anything to him.  She always stood up for him, was always honest how she felt about him, was always devoted to him, and even (in the single most awsome scean in the manga) intercepts the dreaded naru punch and delivers a counter attack.  Dispite the being his adopted sister, she really did love him and showed it in her every action, down to giving him to naru because its what would make him happy.  It kind of hurt knowning she lost to a violent abusive tornado like Naru (dont get me wroung, Im not a Naru hater, I love her along with the whole rest of the cast but she isnt prime girlfriend material).

Oh and if anything makes getting the last few books worth it, seeing Motoko write sleasy romance novels and failing the enterence exams does it XD

As for negima its quickly becoming my second favorite.  Who knows? It may just dethrone love hina.  It is very good.  Everything love hina had Akamatsu has tried to include at least two fold.  Instead of a group of 5 girls, is an entire class of I think 30 some odd girls, who all seem to be even more bizzar then the last bunch.  And one of the best improvements is the hero is an (as akamatsu himself discribed him) Anti Keitaro.  Instead of a dweeby no life perverted collage failure that seems to drive girls from him,  he is a young extreamly intelegent proper boy.  Not spaztastic, dosent (for the most part) jump to silly conclusions you get the Idea.

Ive got the manga books 1-5, plus i think books 7-9 or 10 in fan translations (pm me if your interested in getting them from me) plus fan sub anime episodes 1-15 (so far, give me about 5 days and ill have the rest).  As always the manga is better, but thats always because of how much material the have to cut to fit it into a animated series. Often one episode is many of the individual comics combined.

Another highly disagreable change is due to the animes target audiance nearly all of the fan service has been removed.  Heresy! Blasphemy! The sacralige I hear you say!  But fear not the series dispite the lack of mass gratuidus panty shots (only Akamatsu can in one frame give you pantie shots for an entier class of 30 cute girls.  Akamatsu I salute you.) is still a winner.

Very funny, awsome characters, great music.  There is already one priticular track Im looking for on MP3.  Ive only heard it in the series once but it when (EGADS! dont read if you havent read book 3 of the manga) Evangeline (my favorite character in this series. pipsqueak vampires rock) is falling towards the water her powers having been resealed and the main character dives over the bridge to save her even though he dosent have his wand.  She has a flashback to when she was saved by his father, and how she fell in love with him and was rejected, and how the battle in which she had her powers sealed by him was because she had refused to accept it and had followed him to the ends of the earth to try to get him to love her, and his subsequent promis to return one day and lift the curse after she had learned to live in the light.  During the whole flashback they are playing the very.. how can i describe it how it make you feel?   I cant think of a word for it, but its like that feeling you get when you think about the one that got away.  Its a bit sad, but still filled with a sence of love.  Its got a beautiful female singer in the background singing in latin.  very moving peice applied to one of the best parts of both the manga and anime.

SPOILER OVER.  you may read again thank you.
Anyhow.  I got the anime over BitTorrent but if anyone wants to take a gander at it it may be faster to get it from me over a messanger service file transfer.  Same with the later manga installments, but i dont have book 6 (as it will be released shortly in the US).

As you can tell I am quite the fan of Akamatsu. I would love to go to japan and become an assistant to him and learn his art, but I dont even speak japanese (yet). Come to think of it are there any americans working in true japanese manga?  I should research that.

Whoa...all those animes that all you people have seen...i feel small...
Well, here's my list (and short review):

-Neon Genesis Evangelion:
Some people love it, some others hate it. Anyway, it's a good series, and it was my first downloaded anime. But for some reason, when I see it for a 2nd time, it doenst seem as shocking as the 1rst time.

-Full Metal Panic!:
My favourite anime so far. Its just the same story: though guy who doesnt know anything about society ends with the beautiful girl (and by some weird reason, both of them dont dare to tell to the other their feelings, even when its so obvious...Ã,¬Ã,¬)....but somehow, its still great. I dont know if it was the way the story developed, the fact that the main character was a military psycho, all the funny situations or the tons of explosions, weapons and mecha  xD, but i like it. And the mecha design, in my opinion, its the best of all I have seen ever

-Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu:
FUNNY! and Bonta-kun rules!

-Full Metal Panic!: The second Raid:
Not a lot to say. I liked it a lot, but i'd preffered it to last more than 13 episodes. I want a 3rd (or 4th?) season!!! Its a must!!

-Gundam Seed:
mmm...good, I like it, but the character design looks a bit weird O_o. The mechs are fine (specially the Strike Freedom), but a little bit too overdecorated (this goes for every Gundam Series...)

-Gundam Seed Destiny:
Also good...I dont have a lot of things to say here...

-Full Metal Alchemist:
2nd favourite anime so far. I dont know, it has a large story, and in some chapters it flaws a bit, but the final episodes...the end...ah, i wanna see the  movie T.T

-Elfen Lied:
Blood, TONS of blood. Just seeing the first minute you know that this anime will be a bloody one. The first episodes arent bad, but I like more the final episodes. Too short, but the story its well fitted to the few 13rd episodes. I see dead people...

-Uchuu no Stellvia:
The classic and old school argument...but this time, the students have more things to worry than their homework, exams or romantic situations...they have to save the world from its destruction by a meteor rain?Ah, and their school its a giant (compared to actual) space station. Nothing special, if u have a lot of freetime and dont have a use for your broadband, maybe you should give it a try

-Patlabor:
Saw this almost complete, i missed 2 or 3 episodes....ah...the days when I still watched TV xD. My 2nd favourite Mech design: realistic and yet stylized (yeah, realistic...no beam guns, no eternal jet propulsors that doesnt need any fuel, no invincible armor, etc)

-Samurai Champloo:
Well, i learned something new: in the japanese medieval era japanese people liked the hip hop. Not bad, Its fine, but i havent finished yet...im not used to not seeing mechas...xP

-Love Hina:
Still downloading. Both anime and manga
-Air:

Still trying to get it borrowed

And thats all. Here in Mexico we dont have Adult Swim=/. So I depend on the Internet (and the expensive and few anime stores here...)

o_o

Anyone read mahoromatic?  I just got vol 7 and man is it getting good.  Turning out way better then the shitty ending they gave the anime. Remind me to hunt down the anime makers responsible for that.

Ooh, so the Mahoromatic volume 7 is out now? I've had the six first books for months now, but the seventh hadn't appeared in the leading manga bookstore in the capital city the last time I checked in. Nice, something to look forward to reading. ^_^

OH!!  Anyone ever watch Blood: The last Vampire?  It was a very short ova a while back, pretty good.  It was one of the first flicks I remember where I was happy with how the CGI blended with the standard animation. The plot was interesting but full of holes... and the voice acting (least in the dubbed version I saw) was kinda poor and sluggish.

Come to think of it, the famous AMV for Mitternucht used clips from it, and vampire hunter d.

Anyhow, I just found a recent tv series done based off that original OVA. Ive only watched 2 episodes but I already like what I see. I saggest you guys look it up if you do the fan sub thing.

I think everyone needs to see Genshiken, it reminds me a lot of Otaku no Video in many respects, it's basically about an otaku club at some college and the stuff that goes on in the club and it's very amusing as well as something that some of us can relate to in a lot of ways. Anyways go d/l it, buy it whatever just go see it. I've been into this stuff so long I'm not even going to try to list all the stuff I've seen, all I know is that if I would have just saved all the money I've spent on anime/anime paraphenalia I could probably have put a down payment on a house by now.

Sorry, I missed the question the first time... ^^;

Mahoromatic tells a story of a retired combat android Mahoro, who's in the shape of about 17-year-old girl. She moves in to live with this younger kid Suguru Misato-san. The series/manga is pretty ecchi, but(/and) dang funny all the time. Mahoro's really cool. ^_^

Oh well, I couldn't come up with a longer description. :|

Mahoromatic:
Plot Summary: Vesper is a secret agency fighting an army of alien invaders by using super-powerful battle androids. Mahoro is Vesper's most powerful battle android and has won many battles, but she has little operating time left and soon will cease to function. However, if she lays down her arms and conserves her remaining power, the time she has left can be prolonged to just over a year. Mahoro is given an opportunity to live the remaining time she has as a normal human. She chooses to live as a maid for Suguru, a phenomenally messy high school student who lives by himself after his family passed away.

Genshiken is very awesome. Ohno is my idol! *^^*

I started watched Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi) the other day, and so far I am loving it! Haruhi is absolutely weird.. she's super nuts o.o But I'll have to watch more to figure out whats going on exactly XD;

Also, Black Jack 21 rules me, by far. Everyone should see Black Jack 21. Yes. Don't even question! I'll post a better review of BJ21 sometime..

hummm... actually I did catch that.. I thought I corrected my post. This vexes me, Im terribly vexed.

Actually, Mahoromatic is one of my all time faves.  Tho, one time I was told that I like depressing animes, and it seems about right.  Mahoromatic for example, as funny as it is, it also tears me up inside, its a dammned tragedy.  Having lost my dad to cancer.. that sort of.. ticking down the days thing was very painfull.  In essance, mahoromatic is one of those cancer making the best of the time left storys with an anime twist.

HOWEVER, the anime strait up dicked it up.  It was wonderfull right up till the end, when they compleated the series before the manga.. and once again a wonderful series gets a dicked up ending that makes no sence (ala evangelion style tho not as bad)

If you liked the series read the damned books.  Youll fall in love with the characters all over again.. and see how so much more there is to that series.  There were parts in that book that sent shivers down my spine and made me tear up.  The ending of the series wasnt compleatly off the mark.. but its dilivery and details were all fudged ruining its impact.

For example (ill try to explain some differences without spoilers)  Minawa in the show was just a... sidekick if you will. she played no real impact on the overall story.  however, in the books.. the "scrapping" of her fello cyborgs, 369, management.  it all comes togeather... and the show didnt do that

anyhow.. i relaly cant say more about it without spoiling it. just go get it and read it right now. I mean RIGHT NOW.

also if you like those happy yet sad tragedy storys, check out one of my other all time favs, Gunslinger Girl (humm I think Ill have to write a review on that one later.)

A lot are things I saw on TV when I was in the Philippines, so I wasn't there to see the entire thing.  Others I saw on CN, and since I do lack basic cable, *moves antennae around* I can't watch the entire thing.  These are usually the reasons why I've only watched an ep or two of those.

This is why I dl fansubs mostly.  I lack any other access to anime.  I do buy anime whenever I am financially capable.  I plan on getting Lain next. ^^

My fairly decent pay and utter lack of bills funds my anime.  I can drop 400 on anime in one trip and it wont get me kicked out of my house or make me starve.  The barraks is free and so is the chow hall.  I download fan subs because some of the best stuff never makes it to the us, and Im often impatiant to see new eps of shows I like or new shows/manga from artists I like.  Tho, I always do buy them when they come to the us eventualy.

Oh and another thing i got going for me is the haji store here in falljah.  The sell (Im so bad...) pirated anime shows for cheap. I mean dirt cheap.  They are all in japanese and the subs are dirt poor to the point you can barely understand them (unless you got a rudemtry understanding of japanes and can fill in the sub gaps yourself like me)

I got all of full metal alchimist for 40 bucks for example.  bleach 1-60 the same.  THe thing that suprizes me the most is the quality of the bootleg boxes... If not for the typos from a failing understanding of english (like when and entire series is capped off with "the compleat full season") I would think they were legit looking at them

haha, I'm going to the Philippines in a couple days, and I'm sure to find a lot of pirated stuff there. ^^

And yeah, they can look pretty realistic.

Of course, for series you really like, having the real thing makes you feel really good. haha

Mwahah-- *cough choke*

Never get that laugh right. -_-

Anyway, I've come back from Spain, and got so many cool anime/manga-related thingies from there that I cannot stop smiling. :D Found a manga comic called Cannon God Exaxxion (not worth much as it is, but the stage 1.3 cover features one of the female characters of the story, who looks almost EXACTLY like my favourite anime girl Fuu Hououji-san from Magic Knight Rayearth), 12 Love Hina postcards, four anime figurines (another Naru Narusegawa-san, a Shinobu Maehara-san, a Ring Ring-san and a Sophia Esteed-san with a magic wand), several issues of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Martian Successor Nadesico (have the NGE as books as far as it's been published, but no magazines), two posters (NGE and St Seiya), Sailor Moon artbook #1 and a Ranma Ã,½ scarf. Yes, I'm crazy about all the extra series-related stuff, and the comic stores in Madrid were very economical. ^____^

Furthermore, there's a HUGE discount sale in every local store in Finland as well, so yesterday I bought myself seven anime DVDs for a price of two. :D

Happy. ^_^

edit: Sorry for the bragging; just had to share my joy. ^^;

Oh what they, since we're on a posting rampage anyway....  ^___^

This old pig has watched WAY too much Anime to post, or rather I'm too lazy to type all of it up.... -v-

I will say this, though....

For reasons that might seem obvious, I'm rather partial to 'Porco Rosso'.... -v-

BTW, if anyone's watched 'Haibane Renmei', then maybe my signature will make sense to you.  ^__^'

its just more people (in the US) are like that, devote their lives to one anime/manga series and just obseess about it and they loss contact with the real world.

or they watch what ever is on the telly and think its "cool" (cheap, bad animation, and story, also writen for 5 year olds).

well panda, I agree with you. It's not good to obsess with anime (or anything else...), it's good to go out with your friends are things like that, not become enclosed in an imaginary world.
Many anime series have bad animation today, but sometimes you can put that aside if they have a good plot (if it isn't, there's no reason to watch it then). In rare ocasions, a series have both good animation and good plot, but it isn't really common =/.

And looks like I have watched a lot of series since the last time I posted in this thread >.> . But I don't expect to keep it at that pace, I'm starting to slow down  ;013

Agreed. despite my long list of anime, I do manage to go out with friends every now and then. Anyway, I think I'm the only one out of two in my group of friends that watch fansubs. hah

Admittedly, I am an introverted guy.  I think I make other people uncomfortable by my quietness... I just don't know what to say.... I'm one of those people that can continue a conversation, but never start it. People that know me do see a more talkitive side of me...

I think I'm getting off topic. lol

Let's get on topic.
hmm... hikikomori?  They have an ongoing anime series about that.

Im not a hikikomori, i do get out quick a bit and play football (soccer). Though im the only one in my family and maybe even street who watch's alot of fansubs. Though my sister is quite a good anime artist and is borrowing Momoiro Sisters off me at the moment, and probably another when she gets back.

Apart from anime I also do alot of Flight Simulator work and play Battlefield 2. Sometimes im doing the buses on Midtown Madness 2 aswell.

Mainly my anime hours are built up in bed as I encode them for my PSP and watch them before I sleep.

Example of work:

Nor am I. I love aviation, science, computers, world affairs, etc. This summer, due to several problems, I have had to live a summer mostly at home. However, I do enjoy time outside and with a circle of friends. BTW, very nice livery for the 757 I see there.

I doubt people here are hikikomori. ^^ Seems we have stuff in common. While my sisters and I are the only ones who watch a lot of fansubs, we seem to have "converted" a few of our numerous cousins. hehe  And my sisters are anime artists too! they have devART accounts too!

Maybe we can talk in a year or so when I leave compulsory education and have my options...

Oh, oh oh.

While im here I have to show you something I put together for the Alliance im in on a game called Airline Empires:

Interesting game...

Not much into business tho... Personally, I'm into designing planes.  Although... my ideas are far from original. And I don't have the knowledge or software to do anything with my ideas at the moment. ^^;

I should learn to fly... I mean, why design the things if I can't fly them?

hah... sorry, dunno the girls.  I'll leave it for someone else to answer

Anyways, ive never managed to understand Airline 5/6. The only thing I know is that all the planes on the website are from Flight Simulator.

And for Airline Empires, its here: http://www.airlineempires.net
Id say you might as well wait for the next reset as its pretty hard to start in the game now, ive already got 21 Saab 2000s and am ordering Airbus A319s.

dunno, maybe just for watch 'em fly? I mean, I'm sure that the engineers who designed the Space Shuttle never flew it. But they're surely proud of their creation (and I'm sure that all of us are going to miss the shuttle, now that it's going to be replaced by the Orion in 2014...)

I'm currently trying to decide what to study: Nanotechnology Engineering, Aeronautics engineering, and Physics (that way I can work at something related with aerospace).

And the girls in the image are from To Heart 2 (H game, and I think its now an anime). Never played the game, but it's not uncommon to find them on the Internet, specially Tamaki.

BINGO, present for the winner, ive never played the H game but have found images of it on www.boyis.com, along with a couple of OS-tan ones.

Well of course there is a manga for Evangelion, damn near ever anime ever produced has a manga, CUS THE MANGA COMES FIRST!!  >_<  thats how the companys pick series that would sell well,  from the mangas that appear in damn near every magazine and newspaper over there.  Manga and anime is a intrigle part of their society.  as for Evangelion,  read the damn manga!  Everything that never made sence about the anime will make sence when you read the manga, cus they cut out peices of the mangas story that explained it.  For example, when unit one breaks free of its armor and becomes aware, to becontinued, and then magicly its in the cage... WTF right?  well there is a whole seen in the manga that explained that but they never showed it!  Alot of things are different in the manga too, better if you ask me.  Like when unit one was taken over the dummy plug and tore apart unit4 injuring his friend and he had a hissy fit in the eva and refused to come out?  In the manga, he didnt just injure his friend, he KILLED him.  so enraged by that, he actually made good his thread and activated unit one Inside of the cage and began to tear apart NERV HQ before they knocked him out the way they did.   hell, and he didnt just quit,  he jumped over the desk and nearly knocked his father out before kaji stopped him.   Shinji in the manga isnt a wimp like he is in the anime.  Unfortunatly to fit a 26 ep show they had to cut something.. and make it more PG...  As exited as I was about the eva movie, i guess its good it didnt happen cus they would have had to cut even more, or they would have rewritten it and basteredized the whole thing

seemed to me that the manga tried to make a completely different plot from the anime...

But episode 5 of the anime had the best western-style gun fighting + most sexual references in all of the anime.

And the ending song Ride on shooting Star...Perfect...

BTW, have the Evangelion movie...
alot better then the series...if it's ok with you I'll tell you next post when I get everyone's consent to tell...

  Neon Genesis Evangelion
  Samurai Champloo
  School Rumble

Manga (in physical posession):

Akira - SO much better than the movie, in fact it's very different in the manga, it's a translated re-issue of 6 huge books. It was a huge pile to read but so worth it (about 2000 pages A4 size?)
Ghost in the Shell - The original mangas translated re-issue, uncensored and uncut I really enjoyed reading this one.
Oh and yes the uncensored includes the lesbian scene of motoko with her colleagues in manga 2 :P Ultimate fanservice!!

Did i mention it before? that i'm a chinese man who live in Germany ?

I find those animes some kind funny , if they are related with the german language or thingsfrom Germany in some kind of way.^^

For Example in NGE (Neon Genesis Evangelion) the scene where Asuka talk to her friend in Germany (in german) or where she start EVA-02. She spoke that bad/worse that i didn't understand what she said o_o" but that was quite funny ^^

Hellsing (Manga and OVA) are related with german things in many ways ^^"

2nd World War german Vampire Soldiers (about 1000 Soldiers)  invade Great Britain, London   ;025  ;013 ....

Rozen Maiden : Shinku read German Books! (and thier last time where they was awaken was in Germany in the end  of the 2nd World War too!

Shaman King : Faust a (creazy) german doctor guy  ;013

I think the japanese like German things! XD

SOMEONE that has READ hellsing!!  Finaly! I posted a picture i found on net of Sugintou leading the Catholics from hellsing.. and everyone thought they were the KKK cus of those damn robes.

There is another picture i have floating around you may like too. It looks like a black and white photograph of some german soldiers posing in front of their tank,  but Sugintou was standing there next to them.  Unlike the other nazi-gin pictures some people have been shopping.. this one looks pretty good, and seems only to place her again.. somewhere in europe in WWII, and seemed to have made friends with a tank crew or something.  Pretty bad ass picture.  But as I mentioned before when I brought up that picture when I first found it... the occult was right up hitlers alley.. so a talking moving doll would be his sort of stuff.  Half contemplated a fan-fic or comic for Rozen Maiden placed WWII then.

Anyhow,  Evangelion is one of my favorite shows. its a classic.    Asuka rates up there as an all time favorite character. I dont know if youve read it.. but there is now a manga out that takes place in the alternate world shows in either ep 25-26... where asuka is shinjis childhood friend, and he bumps into rei as an exchange student running to school.  Its more about the social interactions of the characters then the combat (tho there is some).

Actually, nearly all of my favorite characters are the missunderstood bad girls with a soft side types.  Asuka, Evangeline, Kanako, Suigintou... whats the term? tsun-dere?  A character that normaly acts cold, that ocasionaly shows themselves to be very loving or something?

Finaly.. Im not the only one without a user gallery. C-Chan should have had one... I dont know why he dosent.. Still I must head off and comment on those at the erliest moment.

Well alot of them show or explain the reason eventually.. just alot of readers are unforgivving at that point.  Also.. anime adaptations sometimes leave out back story like that too which villifys them.  Like Kanako... in the anime, love hina again, her reasons are so short and her development cut so much.. she was nothing more then say.. a antagonist... but in the manga she became one of the group just as much as any of the others.    Or eva chan in negima.. people warmed up to her some after she reveled her reasons for going after negi.. but as for her reasons for being an evil vampire mage.. those were only recently reveiled to the american readers (well those that dont reas aquastars scanlations)  and they are on volume.. 12?  she was introduced as a major character in volume 3?

as for the pictures the were both in our random picture thread. they came up durring our Desu-gin alliance times.

It's not licensed as of yet, but it probably will be, given its immense popularity in Japan (and its incredibly close tie-ins with Pizza Hut, so much so that it gains the title "Code Pizza" amongst fans XD).

It's an incredibly good mix of war and politics mixed in with supernatural elements and mecha in a world where the empire of Britannia rules supreme (yep, instead of America, England is the leading superpower here).

I started to watch (I finished 2 eps) - but the whole situation seems interesting. Mind control is overpowered, hehehe...
The musics are good, too (especially the ED), my only problem is the pronunciation of "Geass" ...

I hear it pronounced more like "Geese" but with a slight ah sound in the middle. And... you think Lelouch's Geass is overpowered? Wait till you see what another character has in store in more recent episodes...things just get more awesome in future eps XD

Now, the eternal question on every Code Geass fan's mind: C.C.'s rump, or Kallen's rack?  ;010

Daisuke Niwa-san, eh? A fine character from a great anime... I remember, when I first began watching DN Angel, I didn't get into it at all, but it just kept getting better and better throughout the whole series, and I ended up loving it. The manga's supposedly even better, but I already have the first book of that and even that in Japanese, so I've not got to read much. ^^;;

*sees horde of Rozen Maiden-related discussion*

Ya know, there's a whole world of anime outside Rozen Maiden...

...like Full Metal Panic or Please Teacher! Let's just say they've dominated my life for the last few weeks - besides the rush to finish work before the end of the term. Full Metal Panic seemed to be a good series, but lost its momentum near the end. After a while, you begin to say to your computer, "Just shoot Gauron already! It's getting old!". I'd give the first season about a 7.2 out of 10, better than Negima but not nearly as good as Love Hina. As for Please Teacher, it turned out a lot more different than I thought. I'm still watching it, but I find that the more episodes I watch, the more it deviates from my predictions. I expected something a lot more like Mahoromatic, but with a little less violence. In the end it turned out a lot more like what we call soap operas in the United States. It's been pretty good, but some portions get old after a while. I think that it's a bit excessive to use the "affair" plot point more than three times in a series. But I like the fact that its different from the anime I've been watching, which seem to follow the mold of violence, fan service, and comedy. Not that I have a problem with that...

*fades back into the backdrop*

Oh yes, Dark-san indeed. ^^ I agree strongly, DN Angel indeed featured good male characters in contrast to alarmingly many other anime series. Right now I could name Magic Knight Rayearth, Martian Successor Nadesico and Fruits Basket as three other series I personally liked the male characters in; not coincidentally, all the four series mentioned are my favourites. I somehow feel that creating (and voicing) a good male character is a lot more difficult (or at least rarer) than a female character; I can name a great number of series with brilliant female characters, but only a handful with impressive male characters.

What a messy babble I wrote. Don't pay much attention to it. ^^;;

Rozen Maiden's not the only anime out there? UNPOSSIBLE  ;013  ;013

Seriously, I'm more of a mecha anime fan though, from FMP (Second Raid was mindblowing awesome at it's best), to Super Robots (like GaoGaiGar), to my all time Favorite mecha genre Mobile Suit Gundam and all the shows that encompass it (yes, I consider it a genre on its own XD) to the one game that has them all, Super Robot Wars  ;010 Current mecha show I'm following is Code Geass: Lelouche of the Rebellion, which I swear is somehow made out of 100% undiluted awesome  ;015

And to show my support for the Rebellion, here's a GIF:

That's why Akamatsu takes breaks after each volume though, and even in chapters he takes "research breaks" to get more material for his manga.

If other mangaka can go 200+ chapters, Akamatsu certainly can.

*Reads Negima chapter 166*

More like... look. The entire chapter only had a couple or so speech bubbles in it, and the story is done entirely with pictures, so no disadvantage for us non-japanese! O_O And yet it manages to be the most fun out of the most recent chapters yet :D

I'm just gonna quote the highlights of the chapter from another board, too good to be true!

Is anybody watching the remake of the negima anime??
I really like it, nice comedy and a lot better than the first anime which i could only stand for about 6 episodes...
I read a couple of negima manga (scanned) but I got a little tired of it. Reading manga on the PC sucks...and can't afford to get all of the real thing -_-

You're missing out on a lot... the manga is 100 times better than the anime renditions so far (I really couldn't get too much into the Negima?! anime, and the first one is somewhat rushed).

IMO, the remake is too like...flat. And it doesn't even feel the least bit Akamatsu-ish...Feels like a waste of time to me.
Title: Let's Talk Anime/Manga
Post by: CaptBrenden on February 19, 2007, 11:26:28 AM
Well that in my opinion is the novelty of it.  Its new.  the stories are new and interesting and arnt retellings.  If compaired to akamatsus original work, yes I prefer the original, but if you take it by iteself, in its own right its funny and interesting and cirtanly far better animated. Plus the more interesting less traditional way its presented makes it more interesting to watch as well.

i guess i need to get back to negima, i stopped with the manga a long time  ago. i think i stopped at around vol 6 or 7 of the scans. i haven't even watched the anime yet. :/

or maybe i'll just wait until it finishes like what i did with love hina...

Ya know, I feel some weird vibes about Love Hina. I mean, the anime was okay to good, but the manga is so much better. There are so many plot points which the manga touches and does better. However, seeing the anime after reading the manga always yields a bit of disappointment.

generaly.. very few mangas are worse then the anime. usualy the anime is an abriged basterdized version of the manga.. like mahoromatic or evangelion.

on the other hand there are a few that are the other way around. you get so much more in the anime azumnaga daio.. and the same goes with rozen maiden.
Title: Let's Talk Anime/Manga
Post by: zjhentohlauedy on February 21, 2007, 06:28:50 PM
i agree, majority of anime series doesn't live up to its manga counterpart. sometimes its too short to even compare with the manga. and teh story seems more detailed in manga than in the anime.

you generally get good quality art in manga as well, since some anime tend to increase animation quality during the start and end but gets crap animation during the middle of a series.

humm, interesting.  I disagree on some of those.  First off, Ive never even heard of saint seiya.. every other thing on there ive heard of but not that.  I have a hard time beliving that it ocudl be a top series, but then agian I dont watch tv, its a broadcast one, and I live in a jar.

second.. I love love hina, but Most people didnt like naru that much.  I mean thats the top gripe Ive heard about that series is how the girl thats the least liked of the bunch is the one that ends up with the main character. that and the guy gets beat up for things that arnt his fault usualy.  I thought it was funny but people complain about it.   Personaly I liked kanako more -_-

How can Advent Children be at the top of the movie list?  Again, Ill I hear from people about it is how much of a let down It turned out to be after all the hype. I do however agree with how the rest of that list is dominated by studio gibli films.

oh and I support the ruling on FMA being best aired series.  Hell its up there with my all time favorite series. I still dont know how that show could possibly be edited enough to be safe for telivision.. it a regular basis the plot twists were so dark fucked up and depressing that it could make a emo person kill themselves.  Some episodes left me in a funk for a week (like when Nina was.. well watch the series. )

A classic originally from 1986. The original series lasted for more than 100 episodes; more than five movies (I think) have been made, and two shorter series (again, I think) have been made also in the 21st century.

I found AC fine personally, a good entertaining film, but it doesn't deserve to be no.1. I would have thought Spirited Away would win that division really; its the best selling film of all time in Japan iirc. But then again, with Naruto coming 2nd in the DVD ranking and 4th in the male character ranking, its pretty obvious that this is just a popularity contest rather than anything to do with quality.

Also, Sakura coming 5th in female characters? FAIL

Onizuka and Ed don't surprise me, I don't think I've ever met someone who actually hates those characters :p I am surprised at Naru winning the female division, I had no idea she was so popular o_0

YES. Someone finally agrees with me! I haven't seen the 9th movie yet. Is it at least somewhat decent so I won't fall asleep?

To be honest, WAY before Destiny came out in Canada and GS was still brand new, I once thought Shinn was Kira just because of the hair style. I felt like an idiot afterwards XD

I don't think so...I watched it and was generally damn frustrated over it all the time. It's easily the worst of the 4 AG movies....and WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE RANDOM FLYING??? Really!
Plus side though, the animations were REALLY damn classy.

On another point, though, those of you who haven't seen the 8:th pm movie yet...do so, and quick. (in original language of course) Honestly, it is easily THE best pokemon movie ever made. No random flying, great animations (although not as savvy as the 9:th's), a story that you actually understand, a main pokemon chara that is not simply evil or simply cute, but actually has personality...8:th pokemon movie, Mew to hadou no yuusha Lucario, GET MINASAN!

But my fave pokemon....? Ah nostalgy from the good ol' days when I would play GBA until my thumbs were sore. ;) Oh well. There are a few...
First off:   JIGGLYPUFF.
Reasons being, 1: The sole SSBM character that i really can pwn ass with (and that is against like, "pros" and stuff)
2: Jigglypuff sing is epic win
3: Who can ever forget the good ol' Jigglypuff from season 1? The one that came in and screwed everything up all the time? Oh, that was SO epic...

My second chara, though, is a bit of a surprise (prolly). The reason being the fact that he's the MOST DAMN KICKASS (nonlegendary, although he actually pwns some of those too) pokemon in the game(s).
It is...
KINOGASSAAAAAA!!!!!!

...or, for those who don't speak pokemon moonspeak, Breloom.
OWNZOR! That pokemon is seriously, THE best of all the ones you can find in both RSE and XD. Go kinogagagagagassaaa!!!!!

and electronics, baud (pronounced /bÉ"ːd/ unit symbol "Bd"), is a measure of the symbol rate; that is, the number of distinct symbol changes (signalling events) made to the transmission medium per second in a digitally modulated signal. The term baud rate is also commonly used to refer to the symbol rate. The baud is named after Emile Baudot, the inventor of the Baudot code for telegraphy. The unit was proposed at the International Telegraph Conference in 1927.

FMP (s1) is a mecha anime, mainly. And it's not all that awesome as one. But fumoffu is a gag anime, WITH mechas and awesomeness of things hardly ever seen before. THAT is totalitarian awesomeness.
(still haven't seen TSR thou ^^)
Title: Let's Talk Anime/Manga
Post by: NewYinzer on June 08, 2007, 09:14:22 PM
Full Metal Panic is a series with something for everyone:
- Mecha
- Violence
- Romance
- Ecchi
- Comedy

The original and fumoffu are hard to compare. I like both of them for different reasons. I like the first for being a good solid mecha series. I like fumoffu for being a very entertaining love comedy. TSR is a very good series in itself - it balances both extremes very well and really comes together in the end. If you really want a good solid anime show to watch whenever, FMP is for teh win.

Also recommended:
- Code Geass: Like mecha with an incredibly solid plot and character development? Try it - it really hits the spot!
- Love Hina: The unparalleled love comedy of the 2000's - one of the series every anime fan should experience!
- Spirited Away: Not anything like FMP, but a good movie with timeless animation! Miyazaki's films are hard to forget...
