WMG: The rainicorns share a common ancestor with the Ponies (and unicorns and pegasi...) but left/got separated from Equestria at some point. Thus their distinctive appearance, culture and language.

That said, both mentioned fandoms are quite a bit larger than for us to have any sort of power over their general directions - and any ability to manage them. Which we do have to some extent with the OS-tan fandom, seeing as we're pretty much the only english site dedicated to them. We took the vocaloid wave in stride, as did we with any other wave we've come across. The fact that we have another fandom that most of us ALSO like isn't a detriment to the site in any way, but can rather be a way of bringing new recruits in if one wishes to try it.
And just because something becomes popular doesn't mean you should stop liking it.

It's killing me not clicking on that spoiler tag, but I won't, since if lurking TVTropes has taught me ANYTHING it's never click on spoiler tags (so many shows/novels/movies, ruined forever). :L
So, apparently, dad thinks MLP:FIM is a good show for kids/kids-at-heart to watch because of the entire ponies-having-special-talents-that-they-follow thing. I found this out after i mentioned how, well, pony-ish he sounded when he started talking about how much better the world would be if people would use their natural talents and skills to decide what careers to go into. ^^'

No, I got these in 1998. I know they did a G4/MLP:FiM toy promo at McDonald's (and I actually really like those toys, they look very show-accurate) but that was awhile back and I'm sure now the only place you can find them is on ebay or collector sites for huge sums of moneyz. ._____.;

I think that's why I like the G4 ponies, while G2 and G3 horrified me while G1 was just 'meh', they actually look like cartoons now instead of poor deformed horses.

that said, i get the feeling that someone could theoritically make them if they cast the pony out of wax or something then made a plaster mold and melted light-bright pieces into it. (was taught how to make plaster casts in clay class)
after that (and ensuring that the proper holes were cast in the mold to put in hair), hair would be glued in (likely synthetics from Volks or something) and the details painted on.

the DA link i put in says it quite well. she (and us either for that matter) IS NOT PREPARED FOR IT. neither is the franchise, considering it's only their third season, and this is the type of show that can easily be milked for another 3-4 more. >>;

i wonder if they know how many people they're pissing off with stuff like this? either it's going to be nothing like what they've shown us, meaning they're trolling and will piss off half the fanbase, or it's serious, meaning that they'll piss off the OTHER half of the fanbase by uprooting the series so abruptly. sure, everyone will keep watching because the series has so much of a hold, but they can't keep pulling such trolly surprises forever. eventually people get pissed off enough that they just find something else. and considering MLP has the potential for so much more time/territory, eventually they will if the pattern continues. it's like being cheated on by a hot girl too much; eventually, you just decide that it's not even worth your time.
perhaps Faust plans to devote her time to helping McCracken out with his new show? but i doubt either would give up the cash cow so easily, even if Faust doesn't have as much involvement in it as she used to. :\

Yeah, I keep thinking the same thing. I was absolutely not looking forward to the S2 finale and thought it was going to be a cheap "girls love big weddings and princesses and pink, so here's a big wedding for a pink princess" ploy, but then they went and made it all sinister and action-packed. Also, I was freaked about the implications of a third princess (because there's only supposed to be two, dammit! There was never any mention of others!) but what sort of bearing did Cadence have on the plot and the overall canon? The premier episode of S3 and introduction of the Crystal Kingdom, that's what.
So already we're looking at a situation where 1) It may not even turn out the way the promotional material has been hinting and whatever happens, it may not even have a substantial impact on future episodes / season 4.

The thing that has me worried the most is that this, in all likelihood, ISN'T the decision of the MLP:FIM creative team but Hasbro marketing. So the writers / producers may not even like the idea of alicorn!Twilight (and certainly don't like pissing off a large portion of the fandom) but there's really nothing they can do - Hasbro gets final say in what happens. :/

Yeah, that's what the Alicorn Sparkle supporters are saying. And yeah, in my headcanon I did believe that Twilight was being groomed to be a ruler and wwould someday (key word being someday) become an alicorn, but it seems waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too soon to make any sort of sense. (Considering that she's still in the pony equivalent of her teens / early 20s and still really immature / utterly unprepared to be any kind of ruler.) :z

Sombra apparently killed the ruler of the Chrystal Empire and installed himself on the throne, leading to decades of tyranny before Celestia was able to seal him along with the city.

i had a feeling. sombra says more "dictator" than "king" to me. the other stuff about ruling is interesting, though, i had a feeling that's how it went (though i assumed that each faction had their own monarchy).
as for Blueblood, it's canon that he's related to Celestia/Luna SOMEHOW, but it's sort of vague. :\ (cousin 52 times removed? i'm not even sure that's possible.)
