Poor Captain has limited Internets access due to AOL whoresome crappiness.

Interestingly-enough, the last time I used AOL, it was on my old 3.1-sama.  ^^'

My condolences.... -v-'

The closest I can get to a vintage find is dibs on an old Palm Pilot that a coworker wants to get rid of for cheap.  Hopefully it'll let me post Palm-tan as wallpaper.  -v-

Well, with MUGEN, you can essentially program anyone you want in there...

I personally haven't played with it myself, but it was amusing seeing Yuki Nagato beat down a bunch of street fighter charas

Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: FFViper on November 09, 2006, 10:41:13 AM
Well, I got it and played it.  Its funny as heck, good good music too.  I really enough kicking butt with 98.  I wish it had online play but oh well.   It scanned fine, though there was an extracting error during the unzipping but my program got beyond it and it was fine.  (It said files for Character 2k had problems) but 2k played fine.  It DOES freeze after enough time but it usually after several rounds.

It uses two buttons for attacks, with a third for grapples. -Mostly, some character do have three buttons like 2k... its a 'float' button.  She can stand on her sword and fly!-

Oh ya on a random note but her is a special attack I discovered with 98, *I assume the opponent is on your right.*  If you find out any of the other commands for the attacks tell me, please!

Left, Down, Up, X, Left  (I think) might be, Left, Down, Up, Left, X.

I'll just past the PM i sent to FFViper...

Hello,

You're very welcome to upload this game if it's not against any copyrights.
Size doesn't matter (  ;010 )

However, i don't have other than a 56k modem at the moment therefore you'll have either to upload it yourself (i can give you a FTP access) either tell me a place where i can download it (in that case i'll download it directly from server, where speed is far better).

Please tell me which option you prefer ?
(if you prefer FTP but don't know how it works i'll tell you)

I didn't check yet for the copyright, and TBH i don't have time to do so now.
I would appreciate if someone could objectively bring infos about this.

However, in the meantime, the file is available at http://blackdiam.net/FFViper/nijikaku_17.zip

FFViper tells archive is corrupted yet game works. Please confirm that (or not) and i'll put it on the downloads section there. (Thanks to FFViper for the file ;) )

I cannot test myself a 165Mb file with my 56k modem :D

Enjoy  ;010

Linux-Tan added the following  2 minutes after last message :

Please note : I leave the file as a direct download. If it happens that there's any abuse wth it (direct linking from other sites, multiple downloads, etc...) i'll just remove it without warn. Rules are clear... ;)

Linux-Tan added the following  9 minutes after last message :

I made a remote test ( http://blackdiam.net/FFViper/test.txt ) and it doesn't seem the archive has any errors...  ;026

Might have just been my ZIP program.  It only errors during de-compressing, and I use a more odd-ball ZIP program so that might the reason it went weird with me but I thought I would put the warning out just in case.

Yep, can concur that nothing weird happened on my XPME machine, other than that freeze you were talking about.  (occurred after ~25 minutes of gameplay).

Has a lot of weird Futaba characters, but otherwise this is truly a remarkable game, and makes me wonder how many people collaborated to build it.  @v@

Viper's gonna like this, but of all the -tans played, 98-chan is my favorite.  ^__^
Not only does she behave like a slick fighter (2k and 95 aren't really all that, even with their swords), but she's the only one I've managed to pull special attacks with.  (by accident, mind you -- as with any fighting game for me, I don't know what the heck I'm doing or pressing.... -v-')

On a related note, in case you don't regularly visit Waka, here's some more [peculiar] OS-tan gaming for you:

http://widematrix.s15.xrea.com/etc/2kblock/2kblock.html

No 98-chan yet, but at least there's her sister.  -v-'

Got it compleatly downloaded last night and played it quite a bit....

*geekgasum*

XD this thing is so cool!  I didnt relize how many non ostan related characters were in it, but still I know most of them.  Like Waha is in there :D

For OS related characters:
MEchan
XP tan
2k Tan
98 chan
95sama
95 kun
Saba (2003 server)

they also have a few stages for the tans, two of which just seem to be virtual worls that have the 2k and xp logs respectivly in the background, but one of the stages is the blue screen of death!  The whole time your fighting on it MEchan is bouncing around being a pain, sometimes bouncing along in the background, bouncing along in the fight area or even the top of her head bouncing along as she bounces right in front of the camera o.o

So far i have found no real glitches.  It did freese up once when I selected a unknown character with no avatar.

Its got multiple modes, including
arcade
vs
team vs
co op
team co op
practice
and a spectator mode so you can just watch the characters kick far more ass then would most likely o.O i cant figure out how to do half the moves they do.

I can only begin to imagin the amount of work that went into producing this game.  The stage and character selcet screens look home made, with very poor avatars for most of the characters but once you get in the actuall game.. my god o.o its not SFvs capcom, but their pixel art is pretty damn good.  I am very pleasently suprized. tho the quality does change a little per character (as im sure on one pixel artist did the whole thing)  Like saba for instance I was disapointed to see her in full fish form, and most of her anmation are in her facial expresion (oh to have seen the full girl form with a fish tail *sniff*)

So far the characters Ive enjoyed the most are 98 chan, Waha, 95 sama and 95 kun.  95 kun is actually pretty bad ass (I teamed him up with 95 against xp and 2k... they didnt have a chance.. duel samurais... it wasnt pretty)

anyhow.. this will be an exeptional addition to our downloads sections.  now we just need someoen to figure out a way to get those block games downloaded so we can put there there...

I've downloaded that file via the link provided by Linux-Tan (Thank you, Linux-Tan!) but now I'm on the horns of a dilemma.  The dilemma I'm, erm, facing has to do with installation of the program.

;018

When I de-compressed the file, I ended up with a whole bunch of smaller files.  So, like, how do I install this program?  (Useful [i.e., easy to follow and effective in result] advice will be greatly appreciated.)

well, finally, I dedicated some time to test this. My impressions:

In fact, the name of the game its "Nijiura Kakutou". It uses the M.U.G.E.N engine.
The version available at the Downloads section right now its the 1.7 (hence, Nijikaku 17). I just managed yesterday to get the 2.1 ver, wich has some more characters (secchan, in chibi form), still the freezing problem, and now it shows ME and XP in colors (in the 1.7 version, they were sepia. Don't know why).
There's still an error while descompressing. It seems that there's a problem when extracting .pcx files

So, if anyone wants me to upload the version 2.1, just tell me and teach me how to do that. Else, if anyone else wants to do that, have a direct download to the 2.1 version (50mb heavier than 1.7):
http://nijibox.ohflip.com/ke/pack/nijikaku_21.zip

...

I just finished the arcade mode, using 95-sama all the way :D
But the final battle, at least for someone who's not really experienced at arcade games, it's really hard (lol, against a giant chicken). Had to try 3 times, using 2k, 95-kun, and 95-sama again (wich managed to defeat it in the end).
2k and XP seems to have several combo's. Unfortunately, Both 95 and 95 kun don't seem to have anything like that =/

95-sama: Her only ranged attack it's quite weak, and there's a melee combo, but its also really weak. Despite the lack of combos, she has a "build-up" bar (only character with that). When it's full, she unleashes a powerful attack. The problem with that it's that the bar only increases when she's being hit (so, you'll unleash a powerful attack, but at the cost of Hit Points). But it seems sometimes that attack won't activate at all (or unleash a much weaker attack), but still haven't been able to found how it exactly works.
In the end, as expected, 95-sama kicks ass :D
Still looking for 95-sama combo's (or any other character), so If anyone knows some...

Quote from: "Fedora-Tan"Can someone tell me the name and a (short) description about this game ? It's to put as infolines on download section  ;hi
Well, here's my shot:
-Name: Nijiura Kakutou v.2.1
-Description: 2D fighting game starring Nijiura memeÃ,´s (including OS-tans). Based on the M.U.G.E.N 2D fighting game engine
Title: ostan fighting game?

I just finished the game (##edit: on the very easiest difficulty level) myself, using no one else but Windows ME-tan. ^__^ The bloody baked bird in the end was a tough enemy despite the difficulty setting; third time brought me victory, just like Darknight-san. :D

I've once managed to pull out a special move of some sort with ME (her face appeared from the side of the screen and she yelled something), but I think it missed the enemy or something since it didn't seem to do much damage. ^^; I also know how to perform a low flying attack and pour acid with her, but the acid has no effect whatsoever, at least so far. T_T;; I don't know if they can be called any special moves, however, since they're very simple and don't require any of that blue 'energy' that appears in the lower part of the screen.

I don't understand why Emuii-san's blonde, though... what happened to her green hair? >_>

I have some screenshots from Nijikaku 2.1
Nijikaku 2.1 was modified a lot from Nijikaku 1.7 such asââ,¬Â¦

A lot of new characters and some news OS-tans character

My favorite character in Nijikaku Vista-tan use special moves!

The old characters have some new moves

Note: All screenshots were captured in training mode. It provided unlimited health and gauge. Easy to capture the picture using special moves.

Nijikaku 2.1 also available here too.
http://nijibox.dyndns.dk/ke/
Nijikaku 2.1ââ,¬â,,¢s size is 215 MB. I downloaded it from here using ADSL with 2.5 Mbps speed, using DAP to help downloading. But I thought DAP wonââ,¬â,,¢t help. It was downloaded at 60-70% speed. Too bad, it is not resume supported. When disconnected. I must start downloading form the beginning again! You may wonder why I donââ,¬â,,¢t use Bittorrentââ,¬Â¦ Forget about it! Iââ,¬â,,¢ve tried searching the word ââ,¬ËœNijikakuââ,¬â,,¢ in Google but found only 50-60 results! ââ,¬ËœNijikaku 21ââ,¬â,,¢ found only 2-8, all of them are from Youtube! But donââ,¬â,,¢t give upââ,¬Â¦
Happy Downloading! Heh heh hehââ,¬Â¦

P.S. - I may not come here so often now. Since Iââ,¬â,,¢ve started the 2nd semester in my university. Studying hard is importantââ,¬Â¦though.
P.S. 2 - I will try figuring out the attack moves of some OS-tan characters. If I found. Iââ,¬â,,¢ll be back to post them here.
P.S. 3 ââ,¬â€œ It is on sales now! It is 25,000 baht in Thailand. (Just kidding - -ââ,¬Ëœ)

Hmm...it seems that they've found a choice for Vistan they like. And to think this just hit Nijiura:

http://www.nijiura.com/os/src/1163853214850.jpg

BTW: I'll get around to the game once I get some time. I just had a quiz bowl tournament today and I'm tired. My school's A, B, and C teams got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. Life is good...

I have noticed while at Kazumi that the screwy ninja girl and the the schoolgirl "screw" girl are paired together quite a lot, so just by counting the shear number of appearances, it would appear that one or the other (or both) are the de facto designs.  -v-'

(and apparently they do intend to have a -tan for different Vista versions)

Still like the Rozen Maiden one, though, but admittedly the ninja one is kind of original....  Ã,¬__Ã,¬

Thanks to the great Darknight and the emerging Panithan for pulling us out of that aged copy of the game.  ^__^
Once I finish downloading, I'll be sure to check out the new enhancements!  ^v^

Or I could shell out the 25,000 bahts, but for that kinda money I'd rather just buy a gold coin.... -v-'

Well, on the same token.... -v-'

Didn't exactly plan on spending a lot of time on the game, but I couldn't help gawk at it for a while.  -v-

In any case, managed to come up with a move list for 98-chan:

================================

START [Enter key] = Taunt (a bit lame for her)

FORWARD + FORWARD = Fly forward (can also be done in midair)
BACK + BACK = Jump backward

WEAK + STRONG (while being knocked away) = Recover back to fighting stance (at least faster).

DOWN + FORWARD + WEAK = 5 hit combo
DOWN + FORWARD + STRONG = 10 hit combo
DOWN + FORWARD + STRONG + WEAK (at end) = 10 hit combo + extra 11th by 98 Box

DOWN + DOWNFORWARD + WEAK = Uppercut
DOWN + DOWNFORWARD + STRONG = Stronger Uppercut

DOWN + BACK + WEEK = 2 hit "Ussai" uppercut
DOWN + BACK + STRONG = 2 hit stronger uppercut
DOWN + BACK + WEAK + STRONG = 3 hit uppercut

FORWARD + DOWN + BACK + THROW = 98 BOX Throw

DOWN + DOWNFORWARD + FORWARD + DOWN + DOWNFORWARD + FORWARD + [WEAK OR STRONG] = Triple Palm attack (very strong but hard to pull off on a keyboard).

DOWN + DOWNBACK + BACK + DOWN + DOWNBACK + BACK + [WEAK or STRONG] = Super Uppercut (very strong but hard to pull off on a keyboard).

=================================

She has an awesome flying kick move (where she says "Bai Bai"), but still haven't figured out how to get it working.  -___--'

FYI, I'm using version 2.2 of the game.  ^___^

Egads! must get new version!

Hummm.. it would seem that sechan lacked a good pixel artist like saba did... seems very basic and not very well done -_- tis a shame, tho 98chan is so much better then her anyways, and she wont cut your male genitals off!

Thats teh vista tan I like and accept! Go ninja go ninja go!  the other one, with the dress... just looks silly if you ask me. In a related note.. has anyone else noticed teh similarities between vista-tans screw and the xbox 360 logo?  The plot thickens!  (tho i do know it actually was ment do with vista being the word for screw in some language or something)

Still Im exited to play this new one! this should be interesting!...

game still needs 3.1 sama in it.. her and doskitty could kick so much ass.

WHAT!!! Version 2.2 was released already!!!
I'd better download one!

And a tip to discover some new moves
down, forward, attack button(s)
It would work for most characters...
like 95-tan slash, vista-tan's shuriken

Fufufu....  ^.^

An even cooler trick is to simply break into the character file folders and Open-Edit their command files (the ones with the CMD file extensions).  With a few exceptions (such as the Hacchan's spinning kick), it lists the key sequence for each one of their attacks.  -v-

Not sure what the difference between 2.2 and 2.1 is, but it's all still cool nonetheless.  ^__^
I'd love to add more characters (I have experience making pixel art for games), but wouldn't know where to begin coding or even submitting it to the right people.  -__-;

3.1-sama would be a great candidate, especially if you made DOSKitty a lot like Kamineko....  Ã,¬vÃ,¬

No problem, when I get back home I'll look over the file trees and provide exact instructions on how to get to the command lists (or it could just be something that was specific only to Hacchan -- maybe some of the other characters follow very different designs).

Theoretically-speaking, you could probably cheat by raising the amount of damage listed for one of their moves.  That way, you could modify Hacchan so that a TriplePalm attack could knock out an opponent easily (granted you don't mind zapping the fun out of playing fairly...  ^___^;).

I learnt two new Emuii-san moves today. ^___^

Windows ME Defrag ^o^ - down, down, down, D (the button she uses to throw the freezing warning sign) <- great fun, its effectiveness depends on how well one defrags. :D

Close-up hair beating ^^ - forward, back, down, forward, S (the button to throw enemies) <- very efficient, but bloody difficult to perform quickly right next to a berserk enemy (at least for a person with as poor finger control as me v_v)

I should also begin to use the recovery move; it just slips my mind and I end up getting beaten up in a worse fashion than necessary. ^^;
Title: ostan fighting game?

Wow, surprised you managed to make Emui-chan kick some sort of A$$.  Thought she was a little slow, but admittedly she does have the dreaded "Cowlick of Death".  ^__^'

Anyway, back to the game hacking.  -v-

Let's use 95-tan as an example, since she has few files in her directory.

Got to \nijikaku2\chars\95, and you'll see the following files:

95.act
95.air
95.cmd
95.cns
95.def
95.sff
95.snd
95_2.cns
Éaû+Åæé+é+éÃ,µÃ¼[.txt

Note that the encoding seems to be out of whack, so I can't quite get most of the [Japanese?] text to display properly.  -__-'

In any case, right-click on 95.cmd and select "Edit" from the menu.  (Or likewise, open that file with Notepad or some other text editor.)

You'll now be able to see the guts behind 95's moves -- most of it is in that crappily-encoded text, but the key commands themselves are in English.

hm... I did a search and found this site: http://kazumi386.org/~ke/command/index.html

Command list for y'all if you haven't found this.

Doparmin is under "THE男たちのèâ,,¢Â¹Ã¦Â Â¼"

THE otoko tachi no nijikaku... which i shall guess to be "The men of Nijikaku"

So, my guess is that he is one of the developers of the game or something.

GUYS GUYS
don't you know anything? that's from the open source fighting game called MUGEN, you can put in your own levels, characters, sounds, menu design, etc. etc.
this is merely a futaba themed version of it but if you really want the OS-tans in a fighting game you can also just get MUGEN and find the characters (user made) yourself on websites.
Though I think it'll be a bit hard to find the OS-tans
Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: CaptBrenden on January 14, 2007, 01:00:56 PM
We're sorry oh king of the internets!! We are not worthy!

Weve discussed that before. We dont have a single decent pixel artist amungst us, and most of us are far too over tasked to deal with that anyways.
Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: Xyanide on January 14, 2007, 03:17:54 PM
sorry about that remark, didn't notice that it was also in the downloads section
*hides* XD

btw yeah none of us may be but there's plenty of other people who are, the OS-tan characters in that MUGEN version must have come from somewhere right.
Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: C-Chan on January 14, 2007, 03:24:56 PM
*cough cough*  I said before I used to do pixel art back in the day.  -___-'

But I chose the path of making OS-tan related Flash movies.  ^___^

Even the people who worked on the MUGEN game probably wanted to do a helluva lot of other things, but in the end chose to focus mainly on the game and pray other people handle pictures, comics, movies, music videos, etc, etc, etc....  ^v^'

Added after 1 minutes:

I recommended once that we should try creating a simple but addictive Lemmings-style game with the OS-tans that need only rely on cheap 20x20 pixel characters.  That way, we can at least cheat a little by using Poser.

Worked for me back in my old C&C Red Alert modding days.  ^___^
Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: Xyanide on January 14, 2007, 04:04:10 PM

i was just suggestion some ideas XD

*little review of the OS-tan characters in the game*
well there are a couple poorly made ones like XP-tan and Secchan (98SE) XP-tan doesn't have specials as far as i could see and only has a breatmissile as her only special move. Secchan just looks like crap.
ME-tan was quite a funny character to play with and she's pretty well balanced, Hacchan is a pretty fast furious fighter not very unlike SNK-type characters (king of fighters, etc.)

furthermore there are completely custom made levels and characters by image board members and with a lot of imageboard references
(for example spiderman popping out of a manhole reference to: "how do i shot web?")

i'll post another review of this in a seperate topic once i've played it longer than half an hour :P

I realized too, that OS-tans (and most of the other characters in that nijikaku game) are joke characters, so they arent't created to own everyone but to entertrain the user. I tried to facing them with other MUGEN characters... the results are evident. But yes, some chars really need some more moves ( but XP-tan really made me lol with her attacks XD )

Title: ostan fighting game?
Post by: C-Chan on January 15, 2007, 02:08:23 PM
Hehe,... well, it's not like it'd be impossible for me to produce pixel artwork if it were requested.  Certainly if it were in those dimensions (where Poser can help cheat with the animation) and most CERTAINLY if I'm allowed to slip in one of my token characters or two (e.g., OS/2-tan).  ^__^

But more important than pixel art is the actual engine.  Unless someone knows how to work these game engines, and can say with certainty...

[/b]

...then I most certainly won't budge from my spot.  ^__^

Though I don't think it would be too hard... I'm still a newbie when it comes to true programming (as the only language I really deeply understand is most web-based languages.).  Though give me a month or two and maybe I could do something... maybe.

I wonder if there's a way to make the download in sections (via RAR), so that those with problematic connections can download it with less hassle. Anyway, just a thought. Organization of those files might be a pain, unless someone really wanted to do it, and do it right.

The movelist is included as a web of html's inside the package. It's in moonspeak though, so while it's quite easy to know what buttons to press, it's quite damn hard to know what's gonna happen...

i notice that if you press down button 3times then press the C button, 2k will do that ground explosion thing.. will need 2gauge.
while for lesty, 3times the down button and press "A" button and she got support to slash the opponent with rusty (is that she ? )... need 3gauge
i dunno if you guys already found that out but its really not in the manual given.
