Since last year I've been drawing full body artwork for many of the OS-tans that have a design (
or several... Vistas...)and I would like to post them here for posterity. My idea, originally, was to draw them as posters for a collection but that has fallen by the wayside a bit.
I focus more on the operating systems more than actual machines, or programs.

Whistler: Inspired by one specific image that appears when looking for Windows XP. My idea was to design a transition from 2K to XP while also looking like an alternative XP-tan. I honestly don't like it much so maybe I'll retry again some time.
El Capitan and
Catalina: Based on the padorus in the booru.
Now if I could stay consistent with my art style, that'd be great heh. I like to try different brushes all the time. Can't help it

I've already gushed about the Mac OS-tans you've blessed us with, but I'd like to say again that it's awesome you've made designs that are worthy successors to Esu's bigcatgirl lineup. ^u^
Your Blackcomb, Whistler & Longhorn designs are phenomenal! Blackcomb in particular is my favorite, she's so dang elegant in a cyberpunk kind of way. I love Longhorn's mech-y elements and Whistler is just as beautiful as Saseko while looking visually distinct from her. They also fit in well with the existing prototype windows OS-tans... actually you've got me thinking up story reasons for why this might be.
I've been meaning to comment on your W11-tan! I love how bratty she looks, while having to begrudgingly admit she's quite cute, and imo the most fitting W11-tan I've seen in terms of references to the OS itselg. Gah! I'm having my first charitable emotion about anything related to W11...
I look forward to seeing what you draw next! As as aside, if you ever want to take a stab at any of my designs/my 'adoptees' (the ones I co-designed with former members) please feel free to. (Your take on Plan 9-tan is one of my favorite depictions of her ever tbh)

Yes! that'd be absolutely cool. If you want to do anything with my OS-tan designs/characters go ahead. I don't mind since I treat these characters like ME-tan (just let me know if you do end up making something with them!). Also, I kinda suck at giving my characters extensive stories or proper descriptions. I lean more towards visuals and I've seen that you describe my designs better than I could, heh

Haha, all according to plan I suppose. I was only capable of designing her that way because of the way Windows 11 is perceived recently (Copilot, online only user creation and such). I should add that she has a fear of penguins with the joke being primarily that Linux is getting more popular and she is afraid her users are going to leave (not sure If I'm biased tho).

Right now, I'm working on my designs for Big Sur to Tahoe (and whatever MacOS version gets announced next). I'll eventually share them here.

I definitely think I'm an outlier when it comes to writing backstories. ^_^;; Even then it depends on the character, some lend themselves better to full characterizations and others mostly exist in visuals.
That said, I think OS-tans in general are carried on their visuals and yours have great visual identity, IMO!

W11 has fantastic meme potential so I'm glad you've leaned into that! I'm also considering the potential of a Linux-tan vs. W11-tan rivalry now...

Of course! I will say that OSC has always had a communal ethos when it comes to "homebrew" designs, so pretty much anything found here by a member is fair game for art.

Almost done with my designs for the remaining macOS friendos, only Sequoia and Tahoe to go.
It is really fun playing with the color palette already provided with each release. I'm mainly using them to style the hair of each design.

Big Sur: I just wanted to draw a girl with the old anime nerdy glasses, no other reason lol. Her hair kinda worked out since it looks like an apple, imo. I like to think she is very chill and likes to nerd out about the Apple Silicon (that powers her?)

Beautiful! Big Sur & Monterey are my favorites. Their hairstyles are gorgeous, and Monterey's color scheme is so pleasing on the eyes. Ventura and Sonoma are perfect as California socialites, too. I can imagine them on a winery tour. ^_^ (Also, lol at the ojousama laugh)

I'm finally done with Sequoia and Tahoe so this completes the lineup of macOS (For now, until new versions come out)
Sequoia:I hadn't intended on her being tall but Bella mentioned it in my tumblr post and it was too obvious to not do. So, she is a tall girl and ended up looking a bit punk.

Tahoe: My personal favorite. She likes to blow bubbles and carries a bubble chain around her shoulders. Even her hair has bubbles. Of course, based on the Liquid Glass design.

Looking at things from a technical perspective your material and texture rendering is so freaking good!! Their clothes and hair look fantastic and I love the liquid bits on Tahoe's design! :0
Design-wise, they look like they belong in an idol group together (highest compliment)! Their outfits are so distinct while fitting in well with each other, and the rest of the lineup. I like the nods to the UIs of their respective OSes.
As for the gallery I can give uploading a shot. Lmk if there are any pics you'd like to prioritize, or not have on the gallery.

Not sure if this merits a different thread but whenever I'm creating a character/design, I like to assign musical themes to each since it helps me set the vibe I'm going for.

Hell yeah, I love seeing (and picking) character themes! I'm actually not familiar with many of these but the inclusion of Glitch Mob, Submotion Orchestra & Marina makes me wanna check out the rest. ^^
I don't think I will draw full art of these ideas just yet as I want to focus on drawing other OS-tans (and need to slow down) but I wanted to scratch an itch and thought of some ideas for Linux Mint.
I've seen other artist's designs which I like a lot but I wanted to try for myself. What I usually see is that artist do a gijinka for the whole distro. Which makes sense I guess with the way distros releases work. There are often not many changes within versions to make them feel unique I suppose, too.
That said, I still tried to apply the same paradigm as with Windows versions:

Started with 22.3 Zena to give a face to the current-ish version and worked backwards. Nothing much besides that I'm using the Mint colors and trying to do something with the default wallpaper the OS comes with.
20.1 Ulyssa, a bit random tbh. She comes with Hypnotix, an app by the same team.
According to the Linux Mint's about page, they seem to consider 13 Lisa a regression (messy UI and stuff) which made me think of a familiar green-haired clumsy maid.
3.0 Cassandra, again, according to the site, is around the time when the distro started to have a stronger image of itself and while looking for inspiration I saw that image in the old image gallery.
1.0 Ada, the start. It was imperative for her to have cat ears.
Maybe a bad idea, considering the amount of distros that are out there (makes me shudder) but eh. whynot

The California location naming scheme's fun for the more recent Apple OSes. I like your designs. Part of the process is just kinda flying off how it feels things should look (and what elements you wanna include). I like Tahoe's big ass boots and power stance.

If you stick with the ones that interest you, hopefully it won't be too many! Or some that have a stronger image over the arc of the distro.

My only suggestion would be making her skintone a touch richer; I don't think I captured it well in my original sketches for her, but the most recent rendered piece (https://www.ostan-collections.net/forum/index.php/topic,466.msg177394.html#msg177394) is closer to what I envision. (I also like Goujer's Tomadachi Life version (https://imgur.com/a/RDrhtew) with a deeper skintone; in general I would say err on the side of deeper than paler.)
I adore your rendering of Plan 9-tan and still have her set as my phone BG. ^___^

I didn't say it originally but the rendering on her veil & hair looks really cool. I also love the subtle glow from her visible eye. :0

Cheetah-tan is so damn underrated!! She's a long time favorite of mine and I adore the way you draw her, muscular & topheavy will forever be my headcanon for her because of your art. ^_^
The print leggings are also a great touch. ^___^

That is kinda how we used to move them around at school. Not uh, not that amazingly stacked though.
I just wouldn't trust 28 year old plastic handles these days. They're carrying a load of 17kg/40lbs after all.
I also get the feeling I drew the iMacs a tad too small, or Cheetah-tan is just 7ft tall.

She looks great! Thank you for showing love to some of the less well known -tans, there's a lot of baller -tans out there that are either super obscure characters or one-off designs that never really caught on.
Oh yeah, I like making art for lesser known characters/designs ^ ^. Popular characters, obviously, have plenty of art imo (not a bad thing, of course)
well, its time to expand the macos family since macos 27 Golden Gate was just announced.
I'll probably adjust some things later but I'm trying to make her look like an assistant and also trying to tie in the Golden Gate aspect a bit (but no too much) with the pointy bits (making them look like pseudo cat ears).
I like to think that she can adjust her glasses to be either more "clear" or more "tinted".
