Title: IE-tan
Post by: Chocofreak13 on October 31, 2009, 02:29:56 AM
twas perusing through the wiki when i noticed that IE (internet explorer) tan is listed as rare.

anyone remember soul-reply.net? i remember a thumbnail pic of ie from there, and since i'm too lazy to go uprooting half my room in search ofmy copy of the pic (and the site is blocked for some dumbass reason), i doodled y'all a pic of her.

she is known for flashing her panties alot, even if it's not on purpose. not the most secure or reliable browser, but still loved and used anyway.
kinda bad pic, srry. just did quick rough.

There are actually several different IE-tan designs, some of them from +Nijiura+, but that short-haired, panty-flashing IE-tan design is still the most familiar to me. I remember soul-reply from years ago, and sad that it's gone. That was one of the first OS-tan sites I've ever been to. :(

i miss it. i joined it when i found it, it was the first site i found completely devoted to os-tan.

i have the pages of information somewhere in my room. i printed them out so i could start doodling them. the ink quality is crap, but if i ever find them again i'll be sure to post. :3

soul-reply even had info about the long-forgotten TrendMicro-kun, as well as NT-kun and even Bill Gates.

I wonder if there should be various IE-tans, or just the same one who is growing up.

It's odd since IE would be the child of the earlier windows, but it should be older than the later OS-tans too, who for some reason inherit taking care of it.

Considering all the bugs, perhaps it is a lazy moocher who they all feel obligated to care for because she's so popular and well-connected in the world?

I remember an IE for Mac-tan in the gallery somewhere...
In addition to an IE7 or so -tan.

Really, all we know about IE-tan is her appearance.

IE-tan is too ashamed of her inferior browsing capabilities to show her face.

i like the theory of "inheriting" the care of IE-tan from older OSes. it makes sense in an odd way; and the only other idea i have is some confusing time-warp shitz.

and nej, don't insult the other -tans just caouse you don't liek them. *wags finger*

Found the IE-tans in our gallery.

The first is apparently IE 7-tan and the second is IE for Mac-tan.

I'm glad you're happy.
I forgot about the OS-tans for awhile, yes. Was bored a few days ago and remembered them. Anyways, I might be on and off for weeks at a time, but don't worry, I'll come back.

anyway, when creating this thread i was intending the basic, original IE-tan, nothing special (no mac version or win-7 or w/e)

One of the two Ie-tan pictures I found is in the wiki, the other isn't as good, in my opinion. By the by, she is rare compared with Firefox...

Firefox-ko is an established -tan, which IE-tan is not, more like.
Title: IE-tan
Post by: Cockleshell on December 06, 2009, 09:05:49 AM
Mostly because IE is a really unsafe browser. She should be depicted as REALLLLY exposing clothing with lots of viru-tans behind her.

I agree with your description, but I'm not quite sure everyone else will agree on such a biased base for a -tan... >_>

Well, IE8's instability is what made me switch to Firefox.  She could be depicted as emotionally unstable or quasi-insane.

my IE is quite stable. i actually prefer her over firefox-ko.

opera-tan was nice too, though. but it's not nice to be biased about something. true, if a particular version sucks, then it's alright because it's justified due to widespread glitches and the like, but if we use umbrella-logic then we could say that applies to operating systems as well. ("all windows suck cause ME was glitchy")

Heh. I prefer IE over firefox as well. I have both installed, but honestly the only time IE crashes on me is when Ive got like 20 tabs open and Ive had them open for days. Ive had firefox crash more often then IE.

But I agree with choco crazy enough. If your going to make tans you shouldnt me making the baiasly.

So IE8 -tan would be stable and vulnerable(kinda)? How would that work?

I can't see someone who has the appearance of "raep imminent" be entirely mentally sound.

The first one I remember seeing of them had IE in a fanservicey skirt shaped like an "e" with the letter's curves forming the skirt's slit. I've also seen this one...

if yo can find a pic of the one you described first that'd be nice. :3
any thoughts on browser-tan's depiction?

Chocofreak, I looked, but I couldn't find the e-skirt one.

Anyway, I see the early IE-tan as a well meaning and adventurous girl, who is also very stupid, accidentally flashes folks, and possibly "adventurous" in a "if you know what you mean" way.

I see the newer IE-tan as someone with a similar personality, but smarter, but probably still "adventurous." XD She's the 2K to the old one's ME.

hmm i always get this problem with IE. whenever i use it for like 3 hours straight, sooner or later it's gonna start opening tabs non stop for half an hour.

mozilla crashes a lot on my weak pc at the office.

so i end up with google chrome. now i have it at home too and i dunno. i guess i like chrome cuz i'm a pretty simple user D:

anyways regarding an IE tan..

for one i still don't know why firefox looks like that.. i mean she's a fox cuz it's named fire fox?

if that's the case then wouldn't Internet "Explorer" look like an explorer?
Title: IE-tan
Post by: Gussy Keniji on March 26, 2010, 10:22:52 AM
Eh, IE is okay for me, sometimes she crashes sometimes she's stable. I've heard some folks prefer Firefox because it's 'better' than IE then I turn around and see folks who complain that Firefox crashes on them ALOT more than IE does. I suppose it just depends on your preferance...

Anyway back to IE-tan

QuoteAnyway, I see the early IE-tan as a well meaning and adventurous girl, who is also very stupid, accidentally flashes folks, and possibly "adventurous" in a "if you know what you mean" way.

This is pretty much how I see IE-tan as well, maybe acting as a older sister to the earlier IE tans. I want to say the the newer IE-tan can also try to 'teach' the earlier variants (seeing as to how they're rather dense) but I'm not sure if it works...

Seems like it would though.

i'm going with soul-reply's depction. and as for the "explorer" motif, safari's already got that one down pat.

soul described IE as what i posted.

anyone use opera? it's what i use at school, and i may start using it at home as well. ^^

Firefox is actually the common name of the red panda. But yes, she's a fox-girl due to the fox in her name.

i did a report and made 3 sculptures (one died) of red pandas. however, i believe "firefox' can also be a reference to japanese mythology, as many kitsune have fire-like powers, including the ability to control will o' the wisps (references were made in pokemon ruby and sapphire, with vulpix and ninetails being able to learn a fire move call "will o wisp"), and also "a line of fox fire" has also been used to refer to a vixen's wedding.

but enough with the history lesson. i will bring up the soul-reply pics upon request, but i like the e-skirt reference.

I read Mozilla's website. THEY say Firefox is a reference to the red panda, not me.

I'm Tenko72 on dA. :)

Back on topic... I remember seeing a lot of red panda!Firefox-ko back in the day. Now, I can only find one. I like the red panda design better, because I'm a stickler when it comes to animals.

As far as browsers in general go, what about Chrome?

And back to IE, I got reminded of this elsewhere, but some sites, like online games, will refuse to launch if you use browsers other than IE. IDK what effect that'd have for her. I can only think of her as a clubber and the sites as exclusive clubs.

That usually only happened way back, though...I can't say I've had that happen to me in well over two years. Then again, the clubber thing might make sense...and she's all mad at fx-ko for stealing her way in. -w-

hmm, that also lends itself to the promiscuity....

and sora, i'm not challenging your statement. i'm just adding in possible other references for "firefox".

hmm, chrome has a -tan doesn't she?

Firefox-tan has an add-on called IE-tab which allows her to render pages with the IE engine, effectively allowing her to pretend to be IE.
So Firefox-tan might have a clever disguise!
