- Receipt paper (I don't suggest it...they taste nasty)
- Serviettes (napkins)
- Playing cards (These also taste nasty)
- Straw wrappers (usually the paper ones, but I once swallowed a plastic one by accident)
- One living spider (at least that I was actively aware of...)
- Flowers (daylilies, wood violets, carnations (pinks) and more...but I checked which ones were edible, first)
For the record, I also like to dip my fries in Wendy's frosties (and milkshakes or soft serve ice cream from other places).
Funny story about eating things. One time as a kid I went to a Halloween party, I got a bag of goodies and whatnot. Went home, ate some, and then had an idea to hide the rest to thwart candy thieves. Well some time next summer I found the bag of candy. Looking through the bag I see an individually packaged doughnut hole. I decide it would be delicious. I unwrap it and take a bite. Mid-bite I stop all movement... At that point I realized, that the doughnut was not a powdered doughnut... XP

I really wouldn't consider some of this stuff unusual, but people have given me weird looks because of it. This is really just the tip of the iceberg, folks. I get creative when there's a lack of things I like to eat, and when I get bored things can be kind of silly.

In the desert needing to drink water is obvious, but some people forget to take in salt too and become salt deficiant. We would have guys showing signs of salt deficiancy pour a salt packet into their hand and pop it in their mouth, they said it tasted almost like candy.
I suppose its the same thing with girls craving pickles and icecream when pregnant...
well, i stopped eating salt when i learned it can mess your body up pretty bad when too much is eaten...

I love salt, as a result, I drink tons of fluid (usually water). So yeah, this doesn't sound at all unreasonable to me, although I know it's incredibly unhealthy.

eh, salt is not unhealthy in small doses, infact its nessasary, hence your body tricking you into taking it. When you sweat your loose both water and salt, and most people replace just the water which is where the problem comes from. the best way to avoid it tho is just to salt your food at meals and you should get enough not to worry about it

Indeed, and I hardly call eating a whole packet of salt a small, healthy dose. Meh, the original's not so bad, but it's tremendous girth has made it the butt of many a joke. I've played and enjoyed the 360, but I'm not sure if I'd like to own one. I've had far too many friends receive that infamous error to be included in that stat (I should mention Microsoft did replace them).
The new chip set makes it less prone to that. I should also state that i dont know anyone thats gotten the red ring of death.
Personaly, I didnt like the original xbox, loved my GC and PS2, had a ton of games for both.. for the xbox i only had halo1&2 and doom 3. I find it odd that having disliked it so before, that with this generatiton of consols my opinions of all the systems has been reversed. Cant stand the Wii and the PS3, but i love my 360 to death. best gaming money Ive ever spent. Prolly got close to 50 games for it, and not enough money to buy all the games I still want. The only thing i find objectionable is the New Xbox live Experience that they force you to download. I could rant all day on that but im already off topic enough that I can add eatting my foot to my list of strange things ive eaten
Yeah, the PS2 is a great console, no doubt about that, but Ninja Gaiden and games like it really woke me up to the kind of power the XBox had. In fact, NG2 and Fable 2 are the main reasons I would consider owning a 360. I have to admit, I'm not much of a Halo fan (heresy, yes I know), I find Gears of War to be a much more enjoyable shooter. Anyway, I'm kinda with you on the Wii, aside from virtual console and Brawl, there's not much that appeals to me either. Really something I'd only play with other people, I doubt playing single player is very much fun.
EDIT: On topic, I took some moldy cheese and made myself a grilled cheese sandwich today (yes, I scraped the mold off first).

Blood pudding is one of those old-time dishes that you had when you were a kid, but it hasn't gotten out of fashion (or taste) just yet, fortunately ^^
It's some pretty strange shit, though, since it's essentially nothing but hemicircle shaped pig blood slices...that you fry.
And then, of course, you add the ever mythological Lingonsylt. Alternately you mix it with sliced cabbage and it becomes RÃ¥kost (translates to something like Raw Nutrients or something like that).
Yeah, screwed up shit.
But tasty.

I am going to answer this like a serious question just because I know it's not :P. Finding food anywhere has been one of the keys of the survival of the human race. I mean, my ancestors would've benefited a good deal from the knowledge that there's food in the water. They were surrounded by water and nearly died of a potato famine, srsly (okay, I know I ripped that off some comedian, can't remember who). Anyway, seafood's delicious, too bad there's a good deal of it full of freaking mercury -__-.

A good deal of it is crap, often it's bad for you. Even the vegetables, which by normal people standards are supposed to be good for you, are indeed bad because of the manner in which they are prepared. Even salads aren't safe (bacon grease dressing anyone). I'm a guy who likes variety, so the whole "everything should be cooked in fat" wears very thin for me. Still there are some dishes I think I'll always enjoy.

Also, cinnamon on ice cream is delicious. You wouldn't think it would do much, but it actually enriches the flavor a good deal.

So this mask is held onto my face by some faceglue stuff, and I paint it on the inside of the mask...quite a lot, just to make sure it doesn't feel all slippery, like it did during the repetitions. And I put it on...
AND THE DAMN GLUE GETS INTO MY MOUTH.
Fuckdamnhell. That was horrible. I had like, what, half a minute to rush down to the lounge, resist every urge to puke, rinse my mouth with a shitload of paper, drink two glasses of water and rush up again and get on-stage.

6 done... ^_^

I'm talking about a real life kid (probably around 3-5 years old) which is quite normal.....apart from the drinking gasoline habit. And according to the parents confession, that kid actually start drinking gasoline from birth (in other word, he drink milk and gasoline....).
Too bad there's no input in wiki and I have forgotten where I found it. If I'm not wrong, it's about 4 or 5 months before present when I accidentally seen that kid on local TV.
Indeed, drinking gasoline is strange, but it can also be quite lethal (http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/MHMI/mmg72.html). Of course, those are the facts on gasoline in the United States. Different countries use different additives (including lead in a few places), but the base component is still some mixture of hydrocarbons, none of which are suited for human consumption. Simply put, they need to stop that kid...

Well i had an odd combo yesterday...
Was hungry and bored with the usual bread n stuff so i decided to cook me up some rice with a bit of sugar and some butter...
But while the rice was cooking the water in the pan dropped to almost above the rice and i thought, hey why not toss in a couple of teaspoons of instant-beef-gravy instead of the butter...
so i did and it ended up as rice in gravy with sugar... didn't look like much but it tasted really good in a funny kinda way ^_^
today i have been feeling a very odd rush of creative energy, and i suddenly have the urge to make all this japanese food. ^^ my mum was even suggesting we get a rice cooker. (FINALLY, i've been begging for one for months ^^) \
when i make oden i'll let y'all know how it turns out. ^^ same goes for the minestrone i wanted to make (ik, not japanese, but still warm and TASTY), and all the others, including the sata andagi! <P
i had minestrone yesterday. ^^ i miss it--it's SOOOOOO good~ :9~~~

Weirdest thing I've eaten? Cucumbers dipped in chocolate pudding but it wasn't because I was bored. There was a salad bar at the Pizza Hut and while waiting for the pizza to get to my table I decided to combine the two things from the salad bar I know I like!

In my case, the only one I can think of is a can of Mountain Dew that was exactly 1 year and 1 week past it's expiration date. No noticeable change in it's flavor, and surprisingly, still fizzy like a fresh can. Now, I did almost get to try drinking a can of Pepsi Twist that expired roughly 5 years ago, but it went missing before I could...
EDIT: Actually, I may have topped that drink. With my lunch, I had some crackers that, while I don't know how old they are, they where so stale that they pretty much crumbled into dust when I touched them. Not bad, but really hard to eat >_<
I'm kind of a freak when it comes to NOT eating expired food.... I think the oldest thing I've ever had was slightly past-expiration milk or eggs. .___.

when i was about 10 or so i was given a bottle of the energy drink Bawls. I opened it and drank some, but not liking the taste i re-capped it and put it on my shelf.
i re-opened it and drank some more about 5 years later, and it was strangely sweeter. no carbonation, but much sweeter.
2 years later an ex boyfriend theorized that it had fermented into wine. :\

@choco I used vanilla. That's the traditional float ice cream, and the only other flavor we had available was Cookies'n'Cream, which would have had the problem of cookie bits in the bottom of the glass.
@Bella It was pretty good; the vanilla mellowed out the ginseng and balanced the blue raspberry, making for a surprising difference in taste.
Has anyone else tried making floats with random sodas? I used Diet Dr. Pepper once, and it was not good. Something about the diet, probably, made the outcome terrible.

A lot of things they serve at the caf probably fall under this category; that and 'things I've eaten because there really weren't any better options'. Like the mysterious tomato based soup, surprise cheese log, and egg rolls of suspect origin.
I've seen orange soda floats before, I bet those - and really any sort of fruit-flavored soda float - would be quite good.
I'm tempted to buy some vanilla ice cream and start experimenting with random floats...

@Kari: Well, Burger King isn't all that great to begin with. Besides, it could be a random occurrence; like the time I got food poisoning as a kid from some rather questionable chocolate coins my mom bought for me at Wal-Mart (It was some no-name brand they had around Christmas one year, circa '98; the candy being packaged in a transparent plastic piggy bank).
It turned out to be a freak incident (My sister had the same exact kind of candy, but she didn't get sick), but long story short, mom put a boycott on anything chocolate for a few months, as she didn't think "Maybe that one package of candy was contaminated with salmonella or something. I should avoid that brand", but instead thought "It has to be chocolate in general" >_<
That's freaky that you would get food poisoning from chocolate (even if it was a sketchy brand), but your mom's related ban on chocolate actually doesn't seem so weird given the circumstances - once when I was little, I got a nasty bout of food poisoning from a corndog at a balloon festival and my mom pretty much steered me away from corndogs from that day forward (not that I protested much, the memories tied to that food made me avoid them).

glad i'm not the only one with that thinking. i don't take the type of food into account, it's more about the ingredients for me. so italian chicken would be just as good with ketchup as chinese or american chicken. :3
on the topic of expired food, i found some white cheddar kraft mac and cheese in the back of my grandparent's cabinet. the last time i remember them having mac and cheese at their house, i didn't have glasses. (about when i was 10.) it was a year and a half past its expiration date, but thinking that those things rarely go bad, i took it home to make it. i knew something was off when i opened the cheese package, it smelled weird and was a much darker colour than i expected. going off my mum's and friend's advice, i mixed it anyway, noticing large clumps of it were coming out (still they said it was fine). it smelled worse after mixing, to the point where i almost got bowled over, and upon smelling it themselves they agreed with me.
you look on the box and expect a yellowish white. this was a mustardy yellow-orange. ><;;
At work, in one storage room, I stumbled onto 9 unopened glass bottles of Coca-Cola, circa 2003. If I could, I'd love to take at least one bottle of it home, chill it, and see if it's still any good (It still has carbonation to it, from what I can see, so it likely is)

It sounds terrible, but it actually doesn't taste too bad. It's far better than the Wal-Mart brand Spam my mom heated up the other night; which is just as terrible as it sounds ^_^;

EDIT: so i'm having chicken soup, and out of curiosity, i decided to sprinkle some of the tasteeos in it. it wasn't too good, but it certainly wasn't bad, but in the end it ended up tasting like christmas ham. ಠ_ಠ

I've recently taken to mixing together Sierra Mist and pink lemonade from the fountain at work. If you get the balance just right, it's amazing; the carbonation and twist of lime that the Sierra Mist brings to the pink lemonade makes for a refreshingly different drink.

Incidentally, my dog Luci is slightly obsessed with tearing apart paper products. Not actual paper, thank goodness (I'd die is she shredded any of my drawings. ;^;), but paper plates, tissues and paper towels. Also, when she was a puppy she chewed the corner off an encyclopedia.

EDIT: oh yeah, my grandpa in recent months has developed an odd snack habit: he likes to spread peanut butter on saltines and then top with a piece of cheese. not deli cheese or anything, just a chunk of sharp cheddar. it doesn't taste bad per se, but it's unusual, so typically i just keep my cheese to the side if i do that.

Related story: My grandfather has always put jam on his grill cheese, so does my mom. I've tried it before; it didn't taste bad, just not good enough for me to do all the time.

i just remembered a food i ate when i was young, and mother of god it was fantastic. you've heard of ice cream pizzas, try an ice cream hot dog. it had a sponge cake bun, whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top, and i'm pretty sure the dog itself was molded out of ice cream. :9~~~~
