So, let's make the antiviruses that haven't got any personification!
Avast!:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avast!
AVG:

Avira:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avira
Bitdefender:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitDefender
discuss anything about them, personality, gender, appearance , etc...
and let's raid futaba to make them agree with our design :D
I think avira should bring red umbrella anywhere, since his/her logo is a red umbrella...
i believe someone made a -tan for Avast! a long time ago, but i have nothing to do this block, so i'll make yur -tans.
but i'd also like to throw this one into the ring. :3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_antivirus_software
i remember my sister mentioning a spyware program called Scottie. i wanted to make a -tan for that one. :3
drew yur tans. i'll scan/upload later.
Microsoft Security Essentials needs a tan too.
>____< jeez!! i made the first ones out of boredom and the goodness of my heart! don't get greedy now! >:\

Wow, well done, Choco. Your skills have improved a good deal, you seem to be becoming quite the artist.
I like the design elements here, you seem to have put a lot of thought in here.
Good job! ^^b
;________; THAT'S SO NICE OF YOU *tear*
lesee
bitdefender is a romanian company, so i tried to encorporate the flag into her outfit and such. she was also created later than the others (2001 compared to 1988) so i also made it a little futuristic (plus, "bitdefender" just seems sorta.....tough? )
Avira is German. i didn't get around to colouring her, but her outfit was also supposed to encorporate the flag (black on top, red in the middle, yellow vinyl miniskirt on the bottom). since she was made in the 80's (88) i used that for some inspiration (note the leg warmers, and the madonna-esque fishnet arm warmers and rubber bracelets). She also has a translucent red umbrella (almost went for a red rain outfit to match, maybe that's a variation?). She's based off a system nicknamed "luke filewalker", so i figured when she fights off a virus her umbrella changes to a red lightsaber. :3
Avast! is Czechoslovakian. i could have sworn that Avast! had a -tan already, but i liked the idea of a little girl playing pirate, so i went with that.(of course, she looks a little like a boy! xD) maybe she uses the wooder sword to fight off viruses. :3
AVG is also Czechoslovakian. She was originally names "Grisoft", so she has a necklace with a "G" on it. Her outfit is traditional Czech clothing, with slovanian sandals (i couldn't find czech footwear). The apron on her outfit is the logo for AVG. :3
Yeah, I noticed the tidbits on flag written to the side there. I'd say overall these concepts are quite good, they demonstrate your research on your subject without feeling forced. You've done well, Choco-chan.
Fashion much, Choco-chan? XP
wat about fashion? :\
No, it's just that I'm used to Toki-chan being the fashion-minded one here... it's not an insult. XD
EDIT: And we're going OT.
yep. :3
They're all very cute, and you have good fashion sense! :)
Avira-tan's cutesy, totally 80's appearance and umbrella hide her true toughness as a Jedi warrior who takes no prisoners against virus-tans! :D
Bit Defender-tan looks confident, futuristic, and ready to kick some ***! :D
Avast-tan is a cute little pirate girl! :)
AVG-tan looks very pretty, and the logo is nicely integrated into her dress without feeling 'forced'. ;010
Awesome designs Choco-san... I especially like Avira and AVG-tan. :)
Great picture choco! ;010
oh, and I found this on wikipedia about AVG:
"That same year, Microsoft announced that AVG components would be available directly within the Windows Vista operating system."
So that's means AVG is Vista's personal doctor? :D
I'm blown away with how you've improved with your art, Choco.
Yes, those designs look perfect!
I forget to say this: Choco,Can I use the characters in my comics?(I'll use AVG and Avira)
Just wanna sure I don't get troubled with copyright issue :D
xD so much praise! thanks everyone!
and bomber, sure, you can, so long as you give me credit where credit is due. ^_~* (just a blurb at the end or something. xD )
hmm, avg as vista's personal doctor? well, idk if that's entirely supportable. this vista i'm using (*rolls eyes*) came with trend micro (the acursed thing).
Great to see that this thread is getting content.
I assume Comodo Antivir/Internet security would belong here too? It's what I'm using at moment.
And what about Ad-Aware? It seems to be using an Avira engine for antivirus scanning.
Some of the developers of that software were back in the days C64 and Amiga people, so could add some detail in the -tan personality.
just send me a wiki link and i'll whip up a -tan for ya. :3
also, has anyone heard of scottie spyware? i tried to find a wiki but i couldn't :\
I've never heard of Scottie. But what my quick research discovered, is that theres a software called WinPatrol, and it has a scottish terrier called Scotty as their mascot.
Here's the ones I mentioned.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comodo_Internet_Security
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_aware
I've planned to attempt drafting a sketch of Comodo-tan, maybe.
there we go! ya need any help or do you got it covered?
When I'm helping someone with a Windows computer, I usually install Comodo Firewall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comodo_Firewall) if they don't already have one (aside from Windows Firewall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Firewall)).
From my experience with their firewall, I can say Comodo makes really excellent security software... and it's FREE!
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware) is an up-and-coming anti-spyware that does a really good job dealing specifically with "rogue anti-spyware" (there some interesting design element that, don't ya tink? ;) ). I would say it's really close to surpassing Lavasoft Ad-Aware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad-Aware) and Spybot - Search & Destroy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spybot_%E2%80%93_Search_%26_Destroy) in terms of effective and free anti-malware.
If you'd like more specific info to aid in the design, I'd offer what I can. ^^b
Choco: Oh, dont worry, I think I have it covered.
Here's a draft of Comodo Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall.
(http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee258/VDaab/th_comodotan1copy.jpg) (http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee258/VDaab/comodotan1copy.jpg)
Some details about her:
-She's a complete package with both firewall and antivirus, plus some other smaller features
-She asks WAY TOO MANY TIMES about things and if they have the permission to do whatever they are supposed to do. So yeah, bit of a nitpicker.
-Wikipedia claims that she's bit on the slow side when noticing virus threats.
Color scheme is Blue, Green and White. Also her hair is like a flame accompanied by a shield hairclip, like in the firewall icon.
Quote from: "VonDaab"-She asks WAY TOO MANY TIMES about things and if they have the permission to do whatever they are supposed to do. So yeah, bit of a nitpicker.
That is just so right XD.
I love your design, VonDaab... totally wasn't the direction I was expecting, though.
Dude, you're fast.
Wasnt the direction?
What were you expecting then?
For some reason, I was thinking more futuristic.
Keep in mind, that's what I was expecting, not necessarily what works best.
I happen to like this more contemporary design ^^b.
Done the comic...
Gonna scan it on nearest internet cafe and upload it Saturday...
I'll post it to the gallery(and once again, BIG file... -_- )
i like the comodore design. she sounds like such a nice setup, once i get my computer running, maybe i'll turn to her! ^^

oh yeah, and i loled. ^^
...Interesting. I might try to draw an AVG-tan and/or an Ad-aware tan, since I use them both.
By the way, no -tan yet for Ms Security Essentials? I heard that it's a fairly decent antivirus.
(Yes people, I'm alive. Just pretty busy right now.)
oh wow, it's a nuker! xD
anyway, did everyone agree on the -tan designs or are we gonna have another-tan fight? xD
post a wiki link and MS Security Essentials (or maybe MEssentials-tan) will be created. :3
lawl, did i just find another ME clone? xD
here's my own rendition of avast tan :D
(http://i47.tinypic.com/286z3n4.jpg)
i created her since i can't find any avast tan in the net, for my ongoing comic here:

Ad-aware already has a tan.

viper, i AM STUNNED BY YOUR ARTZ. THEY ARE TEH SHITZ~~~~
and she looks like a really badass ME. xD i love it. but since it's 'avast!' shouldn't it be a bit more....piratey? :\
thanks, avast piratey? dunno, dunno what avast means anyway hehe, i just used the spherical icon found on the taskbar and put it as her earrings, her personality and looks are combo of different characters, one from black lagoon (roberta) one from SF4 (crimson viper) and an unnamed one i found on the net last time.
"avast" is a common exclamation by pirates and other sailors.
"avast, matey! there be land ho!!"
i guess i could give her pirate like weapons anyway hehe, also she's more like an assassin when i designed her, designed to seek and destroy, like the ones i referenced with (Roberta and Crimson Viper)
hmm, i see. :\
I saw another Ad-Aware one on deviantArt too. It's this one...
http://ark-bien.deviantart.com/art/Ad-awareSE-Tan-and-Kun-22875119
I'd like to see more of them. Like, AVG or Kaspersky.
lulz, adorableness. ^^
Anti-Viruses, huh?
Sounds like it's a interesting endeavor to give those other Anti Virus programs personafications. If I ever have time, I'll see if I can draw up some anti virus designs.
(Which is a strange change of pace seeing as to how how I'm usually the one to draw Viruses and Malware tans)
a huge area not covered by -tans. an ambitious undertaking. :3
good job for this
edit: To answer Chocofreak's question below: Spammer. Posts deleted.
â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'â†'
WHO IS THIS GUY
oh yea, and my school uses sophos anti-virus. i figure she'd be depicted as cheap, basic, yet older, responsible, takes the job seriously, ect.
it's PUBLIC school, so you gotta work in the cheap angle somehow. maybe i'll -tan later. (her colors are blue on blue btw)
That guy is likely a spammer.
But, as for -tan requests, I have never seen a Spybot: Search and Destroy-tan.
i'm pretty sure there is one. i don't think anyone posted it, but i'm pretty sure one exists....
If someone finds it, post it. I like Spybot S & D.
i can't shake the feeling that someone said that one exists. i just wish the senior members (bella, nej, aurora, ect) would come in. they (especially nej) would know of all people.
and if all else fails, make one. :3
Spybot S&D is without a -tan, as far as I know. Then again I've never heard of the program in the first place, so I might be off - but I haven't seen anything of the kind, neither in our gallery or the warp zone. It might be around, but in that case it's buried DEEP.
interesting. anyone volunteering?
My school uses VIPER but it can't stop anything from getting on the system. almost all the teachers got infected the other week from one of the fake anti-virus programs that will screw the computer up really bad, even the tech teacher got it. honestly, my school's tech department is horrible, they are good at what they do its just that they don't care about anything. There is talk that their going to quit because they are getting paid amazingly low for what they do and they would be better off somewhere else, even I make more money then the tech department, and the tech teachers and i'm only 15 and already Microsoft certified!
SpyBot-tan (or kun) is supposed to be included in my comic, but i decided not to in the last minute. She (or he) could still be plugged though, based on the flow of the story that i made. I was thinkin more of a small boy/girl look with cybernetic parts with cute attitude matched with deadly aresnal of weapons.
If anyone ever make a norton-tan, she'd defo be over-aggressive, scanning everything around her.
Norton is already -tan'd - in fact I believe he was the original AV-tan.
The Warpzone (http://nejinoniwa.co.cc/neon_os) has an Antivirus gallery as well, located here (http://kazumi386.org/%7Eostan2/pic_os_uploader01_seven/hage/index.html).
props for linkage, mashtur~
and amd.....well....you're new. i'll let it go. (FAIL)
Download and install AnVir Task Manager (http://www.anvir.com/). It shows everything running on a computer. I've been using it for about 4 or 5 years on a couple of pc's, and never get any problems with viruses or slow PC.
that is better suited for the computer forum, mah boi, as here it seems more like a spammer posting (srsly, why do they all hit THIS forum??).

THEN WHY DO YOU WANT US TO INSTALL IT???

Hello.I see that most of you are interested in Avast antivirus.Have you found about the last review of it?You may find it at top ten best antiviruses best antivirus software (http://www.best-antivirus.co/)

SPAMMYSPAMMYSPAMMYSPAMMYPAMMY
Spam-tans taking a ride. XD hmm, tasty too. hehe
this thread is deadish. hmm, maybe i'll -tan rising. >:3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Watson_(debugger)
stumbled across this program while reformatting drives for storage. apparantly this program was used from 95? through XP. think it counts as antivirus, my friends? even if not, i think he should have some representation. :3
Not quite antivirus, but yeah, it's probably a good call.
hmm, ok. i'll start something in a bit.
Maybe I could draw some -tans of various MS security software...
glad to see a nuker's active again. :3
I'd like to try some... :smoke:
so why not?
I'm mulling around some ideas for Avira Antivir since that is one of the only anti virus programs I'm familiar with :P
go to wikipedia. that's how we usually get our informaition, or google. :\
try searching out a new one. :3
Let loose your mental bloodhounds sirrah!
idk if the kid was serious. s/he's only got 2 posts.
and i wish s/he'd search out new ones. sure alternatives are fine but there's hundreds of antiviruses that don't have one yet. :\
