Everyones hopping on the -tan-wagon. Unity now has an official-tan, called Unity -chan!

Excerpts from articles:
Quote
Designed by ntny, Unity-chan appears to be more wild than demure. Various screenshots show her in high-energy poses, from happy smiles to a kick. Unity is far from the first company to use the popular anime style to breathe life into a mascot character. Earlier this year, Internet Explorer obtained an anime mascot named Inori Aizawa.

Unity Technologies Japan will provide 3D assets of Unity-chan for game developers using Unity to download and use in games. The assets will be released in spring 2014. The company will also display the mascot at its exhibit at the Comic Market 85 event in Tokyo from Dec. 29-31. Unity Technologies Japan will distribute themed goods, and the character's voice actress will also be present. On sale will be official art of Unity-chan. A blog for Unity-chan will be available soon on the character's official website.

QuoteUnity-Chan has her own official website (thanks, Michael!), where she'll soon have her own official blog, as well as 3D assets to download, so developers can use her in games. She'll even have her own booth at the Comic Market 85 show in Japan, with limited edition posters and an art samples for the kids. P

Looks like Unity-Chan is the product of a collaboration with Japanese RPG developer Gust, so I fully expect cameos in future Atelier games. P

And then all of Japan started developing games on Unity.

cute. though a company using an anime mascot is nothing new, if you look in the background of photos from the 8-tan release party, you can see a Softmap-tan.

for what it's worth though, I like her. she seems spunky. (though i'm a little bored of companies coming up with random characters to promote their project, making them blogs and getting them voice actors.

in a couple years, all companies will have virtual spokespeople like that. if they're going to do it, give them a computer-generated voice. Talkloids exist now. >>; )
