Since I'm on this forum, I saw a lot of interesting nicknames. I'm always wondering about their origins. So I would be happy if you say something about them.
And to start the topic, here is mine nickname's description: Exa is a prefix in the SI system of units and denoting 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 (Yes, I'm a bit megalomaniac :D ) There are bigger prefixes, but Zetta or Yotta doesn't sound that good: Exa is shorter, and it can be used in arcade games where you only have three spaces to put your name. ;012
Also, I mentioned in my introduction the name Exec; it's just a short form of Executor.
Hmmm... I think I had just watched that "Jay and Silent Bob" movie back in the days, so I needed a nick and SilentBob became it. (I use it at a number of places). I spelled it a bit wrong here, with a small "b" in "Bob", but forum registration forms have become so tedious. :P
Maybe I should ask to have it changed to "AmigaBob" since C-Chan likes to call me that, lol.
Ohh, that Jay and Silent Bob movie... I saw it once, and made me LOL.
And "AmigaBob" sounds interesting. If you want to, I'm calling you AmigaBob. :)
Well, I had another screen name, "Dopetoinfinity", ever since I was thirteen so about two years ago I tried to think up something new. I looked towards my X-Box for inspiration and I found that it's name was "Donut", I thought "Hey cool! Thats it!". However, Me and my friends started to watch Red Vs. Blue and they all said I stole it. And so I shrugged it off still contemplating a cool name, after a day or so I was still contemplating while playing Halo with a few of my buddies When all of the sudden I realised that the name of my X-Box wasnt "Donut" but rather "Mopey". Suddenly it was clear exactly what my name was going to be! "Oh Lawd!" I thought to my self, "This totaly beats my other idea. What was I thinking?!...gosh who names themselves "Saucy"?"
I grew up listening to a translated radio play, which in original English script was called Men from the Ministry. The play featured two civil servants, Mr Hannibal Hamilton-Jones (later Mr Roland Lennox-Brown) and Mr Richard Lamb (Lamm in the Finnish translation), their secretary Miss Mildred Murfin and, and finally their supervisor, undersecretary Sir Gregory (Henry in Finnish version) Pitkin.
Pitkin was a detestable character; not only as lazy as his underlings, he also was corrupt and debauched beyond imagination, abusing his position in every point possible. However, he was also (much thanks to the superb Finnish voice actor) the cream of the crop of the awesome staff, and managed to make the listener laugh more than a few times during the series.
In 2002 December, I joined my first international website, the Princess Maker Nexus, and chose SirHenryPitkin as my screenname. I later took it with me to Oldgames.nu (after registering as 'Veijalainen' in two other sites in between), but after leaving the site in 2005 I had had enough of that long nickname. The next generation was just Pitkin; shorter, but still recognizable. I've used a few other nicknames as well, mostly Pitkin variants, however.
Wow, this is an interesting thread. -v-
*brings in Claes, Henrietta, Triela and Rico*
And I officially endorse AmigaBob's offical recognition of "AmigaBob". ^__^
Altogether now.... -v-

Oh, my nickname? '__'
Eto,... -v-'
The origin itself is a long story predating back to my pre-Anime days, but the name itself is short for "Cochino-chan".
You can Google it, or ask Darknight what that means. ^__^
1st off there is no relation between ff and my nickname. Period.
2nd off:
Ultimus = Latin = Last/Final
Ninja = Japanese = Spy
Last/Final Spy
although had I have created my dragon ealier, my nm would have been Uthantion...but people know my as Ultimaninja, and here resident-ninja, lol
Now I'm the official Spanish-English translator?
Cochino = Pig
therefore:
Cochino-chan = Pig-chan
therefore:
C-chan = P-chan
...
My nickname? I think I posted the reasons before <_<
But before anyone asks, no, It isn't related in any way to Batman. But I don't know why I chose this nickname, I just started using it years ago. Now that I think about it, I should change it for something less common...I think someone in Russia is also using it >_>.
Aaaaaaaaaatari!!!!!!!!!! ^V^
As far as I know, my screen name is entirely made up. I just wanted a short, easy to remember name that I could use for things on the internet.
The only way I think my name was influenced is from Megaman Legends 2, in which there is a character called "Gats" or something like that. But I didn't use the name to portray myself as that character. When I google Gaatz I get some town name in Germany. ;020
My screen name was inspired by a limited-print news paper in my birthplace. It's called the New Yinzer (obviously lampooning the New Yorker), so I thought that would be a good replacement for my old screen name, Henryproton001, which had been in use since 1999. Internet forms have required me to abbreviate it as "NewYinzer".
rdhdtwns = old old old screenname I use sometimes.

Red Hots!!! Get you're Red Hots here!! ^v^
No, but seriously I've always wanted to ask you that. ^___^
Jeff has his most creative moments very late at night. Of course, ideas come when sleepy, but the refinement has to come when I'm less drowsy.
Hence I make doodles when sleepy. Hence, SleepyDoodler, and since that's a rather long name, it;s been abbreviated to SleepyD. ^^
Well the First part of my nickname I got from the Russian aircraft manufacturer, Tupolev, which makes most of Russia's Bombers, and the second part I got because the Wolf is my Favorite Animal.
Oh god... at first I thoguht you ment real nick names -_- whew im off the hook.. cus I got like 100 of them. Its the guys at works past time to come up with new nick names for people... I have picked up more then I can count in the last 5 years.
but as for my handle on here, its an old RP nick from middleschol. Very old indeed. Its actually short for Brother Captain Brenden of the Blood Angels Legion of Astrates. A Warhammer 40k reference. He was the leader of my force, and I converted up a very nice mini to represent him.
anyhow.. the nick has got me into trouble a few times at work.. people thought my captbrenden email was me pretending to be a captain in the marines.. which is a big offence, but I proved that wroung.. along with proving my geekdom, to the company commander.
well mine is weird ZJHENTOHLAUEDY. i picked it up when i was registering in Neopets.. thats right NEOPETS... so much names were taken and i couldn't finish registration since there is always a double. then i saw the box of my zjentohlauedy model kit. zjentohlauedy is the big alien species in the macross or robotech series whichever you want to call it.
i started using the name to everywhere i joined to ever since
just recently i discovered that i had been spelling it wrong these past years because when i looked at the box it spelled zjentohlauedy but i have been using ZJHENTOHLAUEDY.... Damn that H!!!
my gawd o_o that is spelled in no freaking way like its pronounced. I love robotech but I had no idea it was spelled like that. i thought it was spelled like.. zentradi or something... thats a hell of alot more letters
Quote from: "zjhentohlauedy"well mine is weird ZJHENTOHLAUEDY.
That's the weirdest name I've ever seen on a forum, indeed. But this name has one positive thing: the chance of someone other wants to use this name is almost equal to zero.
mine is easy, write Cyanide with an X
it'll sound a little the same when you pronounce it, just written differently X)
For mine. Panithan is my real name. It's the Thai word that means 'to concentrate on something'. Or use T, it is the first letter of my nickname. After I becomes familar with OS-tan. I sometimes use T-tan or Inu-T as well.
Well, Raffaele it is my real name. It cames from the Archangel Raphael (One of the three Archangels together with Gabriel and Michael).
Here it is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raphael_(archangel)
Then the attribute "Amigan" stands just for the fact I am amigan user and as I draw pretty good I desired to create OS-Tans Amiga related... ;012 ;010
Yeah, and y'all better educate yourselves on Amiga and AmiGold systems, or else I'll personally dispense some much needed pig-induced beatings! `v'

(Speaking of which, hope you're doing better now, Raffaele-san. -v-')
My nick was from a history that I and a friend were writing for a future manga (and it's been never launched) and the main characters were versions of ourserves. My friend character was called Rafofo Power and mine, Cyber Ramses.
Ramses (or Rameses) was also the name of a Pharaoh in ancient Egypt, the one that was raised with Moses like brothers. When Moses returned to Egypt to free the Hebrews, Ramses was already Pharaoh, and became a conflict between them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moses
Interesting....
I haven't had much time to work on my personal manga project.... I have tons of text documents and nothings really started.... (except character designs)
I guess I'll have to set that aside for now. In any case, I think short 1-chapter type stories might work well for practice. ^^
My screenname comes from Laevateinn (with the extra N). Wiki entry:
Quote from: "Wikipedia"In Norse mythology, the elf Volund (Weyland), forged a sword (Laevateinn) so lethal that it imperiled the very gods themselves. The sword was taken from Volund and was brought to Asgard. They passed the sword into the hands of the god Freyr, who gave it to his servant Skirnir to trade the sword to the father of the Giantess Gerdr whom Freyr had fallen in love with and wished to marry. At Ragnarök, Surtr (lord of the realm of fire) wielded Freyr's sword and severed the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil with it instigate the destruction of the universe. Freyr would ultimately fall to his own blade. With it, he could have defeated Surtr and saved existence.
The sword was called Laevateinn, made its wielder invincible in battle, could fight without being held, but was of course forged for the hand of a God.
The sword was also known as the "Wounding Wand" or the "Staff of Destruction".
However, I first heard of the name in Nanoha A's, where Signum, one of the main antagonists, has a falchion called Laevatein, which is one of the more awesome magical swords I've ever seen (it actually speaks German! XD). Laevatein is also the name of a yet to be animated Arm Slave in Full Metal Panic.
Previous screen names I've used include Edgar's Parish (english translation of
Parokya ni Edgar, one of the most popular pop music bands in the Philippines, two generations and counting).
Quote from: "Laevatein"
(it actually speaks German! XD)
Yes, talking weapons are the coolest, even if they are not the strongest! :D
Interesting... When I first saw your username, Laevatein, Signum's weapon was what first came to my mind! :D
Mentioning that reminds me I need to finish watching Nanoha A's!
Mine's rather simple. It comes from a beloved series of games known as either Earthbound or Mother (depending on were you live).
Originally, I used the name Mr. Cat when registering at web sites which required a user name. But some years ago, I began running into registration-error messages insisting Mr. Cat was already in use ââ,¬â€ although I've yet to encounter another Mr. Cat on the web.
So I changed it to MisterCat and haven't again encountered such messages. Anyway, back in the day there was a neighborhood cat who lived entirely out of doors and used to come visit on a daily basis; and I took to calling him Mr. Cat due to the aura of authority he radiated.
He was, in effect, Mayor of the Feline Neighborhood: I'd occasionally see him enforcing feline laws, always to the detriment of the offending cat or cats. On the day we moved into that neighborhood, he conducted an inspection of our premises and ââ,¬â€ having been satisfied ââ,¬â€ walked out as mysteriously and purposefully as he'd walked in.
Thereafter, he'd stop by once every day and submit to a brief petting audience; but he never saw the need to enter our home after that first inspection. The day we moved away, he came up to me and rubbed against my leg (a sign of affection he'd not granted me before) and meowed (the only time he ever spoke to me) then went away: It was his way of saying good-bye.
So, since I keep cats and have fond memories of my old friend from that earlier neighborhood, I chose to honor his memory by taking his (undoubtedly unofficial) name with me onto the inter-net. All that was years ago; and although I'm not sure which of his nine lives he was living when we were neighbors, I hope it wasn't his last.
;hi
=^..^=
Mine is the Latin word for "truth". I took it because I've decided my life's goal is to find "the truth," even if it is impossible. I can at least try to come damn close to it, in whatever sense I can, and even if it is just my -own- personal truth.
Or, maybe I just stole it from Boondock Saints. ;D
I Like that movie! ;010
In Boondock Saints actor Willem Dafoe played a great role character. ;019
Willem Dafoe is -always- great. ;D
I heard they are making a second one. Is nothing sacred?
I heard that, too. I have no idea if it's true or not. If they do, I'm hoping it's with the same director..
If not.. and its just someone trying to make another bloody sequal to make more money.. Id rather they didnt. Some movies were just so good they should have just stayed one movie. I think SAW was one of those... They would have been better off leaving it as it was.
Hmmm.... Thurosis is the name of a character from my first Manga
My first my that i drew is called "The Legend of Valukar"
I drew about 200 pages and it was a mix from "Record of Lodoss War", "Warhammer Fantasy" and a bit "Warhammer 40k" (but i never drew the story until the end)
I for the Story I used a bit from Record of Lodoss War and for the characters I used many things from Warhammer Fantasy (In the Story there is race with many high-tec things so i used the Imperial Army/Guards from W40k.) ;013
Thurosis is the name of a knight in Valukar (a nation with many magician)
but now i used the name for a puppet(maker) master( in Germany ;013) in my newest Manga (the 11th one i think) called "Showdown in Wiesbaden. I never drew/make a new design from Thurosis until now.

Hi,
My nickname is Timely.
I chose it in honor of Timely Writer, a thoroughbred
racehorse by Staff Writer out of Timely Roman. He
won the Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park as a
two-year-old, defeating Before Dawn and Deputy
Minister, yet was not given an Eclipse Award. He
won the Florida Derby and Flamingo Stakes at
three, but was ill and could not run in the Triple Crown
races. He returned in fine form, winning at Saratoga.
Late in his three-year-old season he broke down in
the Jockey Club Gold Cup while taking the measure
of older handicap horses in grand form. He was humanely
destroyed, and is buried, along with Ruffian, at Belmont.
He was a gutsy little horse, and I made a few bucks
betting on him at Belmont and in Florida, so I thought
I should do something to keep his memory alive.
Cordially,
Timely

I could imagine another system where you can choose in every level between a Windows, a Mac and a third system (for example, a Linux)...
Well i had to choose mine since you have the 3.1 ran for such a short time...
This was originally the name of my ill-fated late 90s shareware company.
It...it's not...it's not a nickname. Not really.
eh... how to say...
i've already forgot why made this word my nickname... it's a story happend long long ago... and now, every nickname of any forums or IMs of mine u can see is "Lovee"...
Well, the Kami-tux is my favorite OS-tan. And I am rather partial to anything Linux anyways.
My nickname is from..........................
Can you guess it ?

Now that's an easy one: the story behind is the infamous The Cauldron Who Called the Kettle Black. T_T
My nick comes from a swedish comedy, where a guide shows a Castle for some tourists. He means to speak in english but actually it's no language at all. During the tour of the castle he says "stoy on" many times. They did supply a small dictionary so that you could read what he wanted to say.
There I found out that "stoy on" meant "look out" or "look up" (in swedish the phrase "se upp" can mean either "look out" or "look up".).
Since I had begun to get good at Unreal Tournament (the first game) I thought that it would be quite suitable to have a name that meant "look out" and at the same time looked a bit wierd.
Then I registered at a swedish forum, after a couple of posts i read about IRC and their channel there and I downloaded an IRC client, after about a week of chatting they stopped calling me "Stoy on" and just "Stoy". About 3 months later there was a getting together IRL i Stockholm and everyone called me Stoy.
Since then I have always used the nick Stoy.
That is my story.
Nice explanation!
mine came from the anime Samurai Deeper Kyo and 26 is generally the day i was born ;028
Should be pretty obvious, but I chose my nickname 'cos I'm a mad keen Sonic fan. I even bought and finished Shadow the Hedgehog.
I used to be an dedicated reader to the sonic comics back in the day.. i dont even know if they are producing them anymore tho.. humm
"Bluesummers" comes from Legato Bluesummers, a character from Trigun. (I love him, he's so funny...a telepathic goth dude walking around in a western. XD )
Blue-chan, what the folks at animechains (my other forum) call me, is derived from my username, and the character in almost all of my signature pics from animechains...2000-tan. ^^
-_- I didnt like him much personaly. Of the villans I liked vashes brother the best. Gawd, its been years since i seen it and I cant bloody think of his name...Knives! thats it! he was awsome. Tho personaly the real win of that series is the good guys.
My nick name it's my own name in other language.
Kimo(unknow language) = James(in english) = Thiago(my real name, in brazillian portuguese).
Haaaa~
That's a nice and nifty translation there ^^
Acher, as archer from fate stay night/FST... as how rin called archer sound like "acher', gives me the wrong spelling till today but nvm coz i like it anyway
My username is obvious, I just LOVE Me-tan mostly
Stankevitch, comes from my last name Stankevitch, it is also shortened into Stankey and Stank to make it quicker to say.
Icelilly was just a nice I randomly came up with when putting words together.
Ice- I was having water with ice in it.
Lily- A flower that was in the house at them.
My name has a extra "l" because when I little (I've had this name for a long time), I thought Lily was spelled with two l's instead of one. ^^;
That's just...can't you just call yourself /b/, then? ^_^
Well, I guess I shouldn't say so much, seeing as my name was more put together using initials than the reverse, more normal way...
Is it true that if you say NejinOniwa's name backwards, that he will disappear back into his own dimension?
AWINONIJEN!
Khoryu comes from bloody roar III.. i think.. i just change the spelling a little bit. ;010
AWINONIJEN!
*disappears*
*reappears two meters to the left*
So...my bed is my own dimension? Why thank you for getting my hopes up...*grumbles*
lemme try!!
YDEUALHOTNEHJZ!!!
*turns into a bunny. a killer bunny!*
man that took me like a minute to spell backwards.
Oh carp, Yinz has created another stupid meme.... -.-
Okay ^^...
About my nickname... mmmh... well... a panda ^^... I read about a panda with name "Xi Wang"... I like so much and research about name ^-^, and only add a surname... Feng was my choose ^^...
Feng (Chinese) -> Air, manner (English) -> Kaze (Preferred kanji read on japanese ^^)
Xi Wang (Chinese) -> Hope (English) -> Narumi (Preferred kanji read on japanese ^^)
chan (japanese sufix for girls and pets T.T... I feel as a real panda)
By the way... Xi Wang chan it's a beautiful girl of forever 16 year old and a laaarge black air ^o^...
Edit: (Panda info is information EXCLUSIVE, only my sibils known about it ^^)
I really don't have much to say about my name :(
Okay, maybe a little. It came from my old DeviantArt name, Bella Cielo, which kinda roughly translated to Italian means beautiful sky, which comes from my love of the Saturn Sky sports car, and my interest in the Italian language :D
I tried registering here with some rather long, baroque, username, but it didn't go though for some reason...being lazy I said the heck with it, and I typed in "Bella" XD
So here I am heehee...

you know, that reminds me of Bella Ciela (mistakenly spelled Velaciela in the animation), the name of the aircraft in the movie The Place Promised in Our Early Days by Makoto Shinkai.
Nice movie, and the sky did look beautiful. ^^
Quoteyou know, that reminds me of Bella Ciela (mistakenly spelled Velaciela in the animation), the name of the aircraft in the movie The Place Promised in Our Early Days by Makoto Shinkai.
Huh...that's odd XD
Well, my is a really odd story actually. I was playing Ragnarok online (Hence the Rag part) and I had remembered that my account play time was going to end soon (Hence the en). So I got somewhat pissed at Gravity for making RO p2p, so I decided to think of them as mules (hence the ule). I was going to make another character, and sometimes when I need a nick, I just think back to what I was thinking an hour ago up until now. I got Ragnarok, end, and mule. after working and looking at the names, I decided "Ragenule" was the best.
Siya comes from Marc and Siya, the name of a see-saw demon character I made a while back and role-play on a few websites. Eventually, I made them into my artist persona for the internet. However, since many sites don't allow for spaces or capital letters in screen names and Siya was the more capable half of the character, I dropped Marc from my title.
When I originally created the character, I thought I had made up the name Siya. But, lately, I've been seeing other Siyas around.
Kyo is pretty much a generic name.
^_^ but mostly these people come to mind when I think of my nickname...
Kyo of dir en grey.
Kyo From King of fighters.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d146/fedwards/100_4582.jpg
Kyo from a yet to be titled/drawn anime/manga!
hey Kyo-chan,
Do you know what time it is?
ITS PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!!!
*groves*
Try getting someone japanese with very little practice in english to say Anna Robin... I did, it kind upset her not being able to pronounce Ro correctly, so she tried repeatedly.

Madness? This is OS-TAN COLLECTIONS!
(sorry, had to be said.)
Congratulations, Anarururu. You just got promoted three ranks for gigantinormous wit and awesome winnage. You wouldn't happen to be a honorable pirate as myself, would you?
Please god no. just want we would need, more pirates.
Nope, better.
I'm a Ninja Pirate.
^
Anarururu, you're gonna become Nejin's best friend, I think :P
Resident Ninja Pirate welcomes kin to the OSC.
HAR HAR ARR-DE GOZAIMASU .W.
My name was born in Super Smash Brothers Melee.
I was inputing some custom names... and I like japan, so I switched to japanese characters...
It is important to note that I was recently at the Japanese Embassy.
I put in the four character and thought, hey, that looks cool... how would that be pronounced in english?
So I took out my 'Views of Japan' book, went to the two languages and wrote down the English spelling of the japanese characters, the four-letter word came out, A-na-hu-yu. Not only did it look cool, it sounded cool. I use it everywhere since then.
My Avatar is Anahuyu♡.EXE. I made him using a sprite from MegaMan Battle Network. The sprite's only remaining feature is his face and hair.
My sig was made from ProtoSoul unison MegaMan, wich in japan I figure is called BluesCross-RockMan, since what would be assumed as ForteSoul unison RockMan wasn't translated the same, it was call BassCross-MegaMan. It was, however, not normally accessible in the english version. So, with the _____Cross-RockMan idea in mind, I created the sprite of Anahuyu♡Cross-RockMan. I'd put the heart in there, but My bookmark to the only site still using the heart is no longer on my computer.
Edit: Woot! I found it.
Well... Seth is the first name of the most redicously over powered Rifts RPG chara I have ever had. Not much else to it :P
My nickname? Now that's a story worth telling.
A long time ago, on a myspace page far far away.
I decided to create a Sonic the Hedgehog fancharacter to RP as.
He was a Tails recolor, who I decided to name "Techno the Fox"
I try to keep my usernames the same on every other forum (to minimize confusion) and there you have it.
NekOsaka. I'm a Nekomimi (cat ears/girls) fanboy, and an Osaka fanboy so NekOsaka. Unfortunatly after I joined this side I realized that I should have put my name as NekOSaka so it would have OS in there too. XP. I noticed that it can possibly be changed in my profile page, but would that reset my account or anything? Or can I capitalize away?
Ultimaninja
Ultimus (Latin): Last, final
ninja (Japanese): Spy
Final Spy
Interesting topic here.. ^_^
As for my nick.. well.. I'm writing stories for hobby, and there is one main character that i think really representating myself (well.. of course not all of it) and, i made the name by 'adjusting' the letters from certain word.. like this 'SOLDIER' -> 'SILDIER' -> 'SILDIAR' -> SILDIAS
Eleven is a number I see frequently. You could call it my lucky number I guess. ;012
Thirteen is a number I see frequently. It's my lucky number.

2. My logic is as clear as a puff of smoke

My favourite character from The melancholy of Haruhi suzumiya is Yuki Nagato. As a tribute when ever I join a website of this nature I use nagato as my user name.
Captain obvious, to the rescue. *pfft* ^_^
No, sorry, just kiddin'. Good that you're not one of those /a/fags - those guys...seriously.
ok. This might be a stupid question but what exactly is an /a/fag? I understand the fag part but I don't know what the /a/ means.
Aw, so no love for the Nagato class Battleship?
oh well

An imageboard. They're not known for being friendly to Yuki Nagato. Or TMoHS in general.
looks to me someone hasn't really explored 4chan. XD;
If you really haven't been there, it's probably a good thing that you don't, but now that I've mentioned it, you'll probably go anyway.
So, when was teh last time darknight played NF? :3
I don't even remember the last time I played. I still have a Fletcher. XD;;;
I played NF during December and January. But now back into uni, so no more NF due to blocked ports D:
I have a Renown BC, and I started a second UK line to get an Edinburgh. But I still prefer my York :D
Also, ff-x is awesome.

Such a beautiful sight, isn't it?
Ahh. 'Tis indeed a beautiful sight but I personally think that nothing can beat a nuclear mushroom....(It's the sheer power created by "mere" atoms)
after slowly dying of radiation poisoning in the hellish aftermath of a nuclear bomb millions of miles away from home alone and forgotten in Call of Duty 4 Ill pass on the mushroom clouds thanks. Seriously.. ive seen nukes in games before, but no scean in a video game with a nuke has instilled more shock and awe then the sequence in COD 4..

but anyhow... yeah, more talking about your nicknames please, before i have to start giving people nick names to talk about

Okay!.... Now you're yust making me curious.......
Added after 11 minutes: And about that nuke sequence: great example of why we shouldn't use nukes as a weapon..........(because of its non-discriminating total destructiveness....
And now back on topic.....
I'll get the ball rolling again.
Um let's see, I derived my nick from the American Godzilla movie. When I was young, I had a fascination with American military aircraft, so when that first helicopter chase scene came up, I picked up on their codenames. I combined it with my lucky number, et voilà , Echo 8 was born.
It was only years later I learnt about its connection with Star Wars.
I also have variants where I tack ERA to the end, which I use when I can't have Echo 8 for some reason or another.
GAH! I hated that movie!
>_< the AH-64 is one hell of a manuverable speedy helecopter, the fast godzilla in that movie that was able to out run and get around them was BULLSHIET!
But suddenly im reminded of Indapendence Day. Eagle one fox two!
If you ask me those call signs suck. In the marines we call ourselves things like dirt pig, no love, blackheart, red death, bravo raiders, etc.. things that struck fear.

Yeah those are some good callsigns, allright.... wich reminds me: Did you guys get to play heavy metal and stuff in Desert Storm as a form of psychological warfare in certain op's??? cause that would be sweet ;010 and good for the fighting spirit....
:P I think i was in 3rd grade in desert storm. But in OIF III we did do a raid blearing "AMERICA FUCK YEAH!" team america theam on speakers. ahh the good old days.
I wish i could remember more about it to find it but we had an awsome video floating around where someone got EVERYONE on a small observation post to participate in a music video. One guy walking along singing through the base and people in the back ground would walk into frame for a bit and follow him singing etc.. it was lulzy
LOL.... at least thats better than how my sister ended up in afghanistan (wheen she finally got there. Took her 3 days because the planes either broke down or the pilots needed to rest). And when she got there it was hotter than hell plus there was no airco because the generator was too low on diesel....
And they tell me its going to be great in the army, because they have top-notch equipment and stuff......Uh-huh :D
I wanted to think of a name for my "Naruto" fancharand came up with this:
Shinzui - true meaning, mystery, spirit, etc...
Uindo - Wind
Fuuton users ftw^^
LOL...
At least your nick has some sensible background... :D
The kids I babysit couldn't pronounce Toki, and they thought it sounded like "Tooki" as in a Tooki bird, so they call me Bird now o.o
LOLZ
wut? Õ_õ
It's okay, I forgive them o.o
Mine nickname has a pretty long history. This includes my obsession with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, a snow cone, a story that I have never finished and a lot of super powers. I chose to stick with the "silverfox" part of my name for two reasons though. One, just like my real name, the color silver never goes out of style. Two, I have the intellect and cunning of a fox. The Omni part I'll tell if you really want to hear it. ^^
Tell, tell!! :D
Back when I was 16, I was playing Sonic 2 when i thought of Tails. I wanted to make a super form character for Tails (this was before I found out about Turbo Tails). I thought of a gray fox that was slightly older and twice as fast. I changed the fox's nme after ordering a snow cone flavor named, 'Silverfox'. I joined a random anime chat which gave me the chance to use the name, 'Silverfox'. I had slowly learned to role-play and made many friends and enemies. I got so into it and started using different powers. The first power was super-speed, then full elemental control. I encountered many types of RPer fighting styles in the chat, (the most common was T2). My friend, Kayzar was by my side a well as Akina. We all moved on from the chat room two years later (2004). Kayzar told me about Gaia Online. It was an anime role-playing community. I was at the time adamant about joining, but knew it was the only choice I had. I, Kayzar, Akina and many other members from the chat became Gaians. Since Silverfox was taken, I made Menaiah Kayga (Silverfox when translated to english). The name I chose two years later (2006) was, 'The Silver Fox of Omni'. Omni was the character that helped Silverfox learn new ways to use the elements. Silverfox is growing along with me. Together, we learn to do great things for both worlds. We found that the person behind the character Akina, as well as Akina herself had fallen in love with us years ago. In this present day I am still trying to keep in touch with her. We exchanged phone numbers after knowing each other for so long. She loves my confidence and the way I stand up for what I believe in. I love her empathy and many other smalls things she does. It makes her so lovable! <3 *Shakes his head wildly* Oh, back to the story before I ramble any more about her. Silverfox has been through a lot of odd situations. Like the one concerning his daughter, Kira Kayga. He found out that she was a failed experiment (made by R.A.D.G.E.A.R.) to clone him. She was told to destroy him, but inherited his empathy. She couldn't go through with it. ((Still need time to finish))
Mine is simply my first name. :)
QuoteMine is simply my first name. :)
Oh you. :P
My nickname originates from the musical genre grindcore and more specifically the Squash Bowels song Flesh Grinder.
My nickname was created 5 to 6 years ago.
Friends at school tried getting me to play runescape, so I finally tried to play it. I was thinking about dragons at the time, and I like honorable things. So I tried putting down "Dragonofhonor," but it wouldn't let me put in the last letter in it. So I removed the "o" before the "r" and came up with "Dragonofhonr."
Sticked with that name ever since.
My name came from the pseudonym I use on the internet: Alex Sushiama. It sounded cool, and it's a name that barely exists on Google. This pseudonym has an address and birthdate slightly different from my own.
I took two of my favourite anime girls with melee weapons and put them together.
my nickname is simply the name that i think by myself, when i think about cat....LOL
just call me rui for the simple :D
Well Long story short, i use to call myself "El_Pibe" back on 1998, then everyone started to ask me for my real name, wich is Marcos but i was an awful speed writer so i used to type "Marcod".
Once i got rid of "El_Pibe" basically cos everyone was using it (It means plainly "The Boy") and i swiched to MarCOD... Then Neo MarKOD for the sake of l337ness... and shorter, NMKD... :)
Mar-cod.
That's one crappy fish.
=W=
I generally create names from military rank plus phonetic phrases.
Thus, SgtCFoxtrot is: Sergeant Charlie Foxtrot
Which is an enlisted man/woman of Sergeant Rank named after a Cluster F**k. :D
Essentially, Sergeant Bad Stuff Happenin'.
QuoteEssentially, Sergeant Bad Stuff Happenin'.
And how!
Interesting story in here.
My nick came from a simple word, it just have some history behind it. It just came from my fondness of the sea and the whale (especially, Orca). Seamore, came from more sea.
But before I started using this nick, I usually use nick Zenislez.
Mine comes from my first laptop, which I received as a Christmas gift in 2003 (It was powered by a Pentium processor with MMX technology). I don't have that laptop anymore (It died on me years ago), but it still lives on in name.

Well thats better then Sgt. Bohica. Bend over here it comes again!
mmmm... mine is very simple; it's a combination of my name
hiro yui is my name, eva01 is a tribut for the mecha
nothing just resigned a few words here and my nickname ^^
My name is just because I've learned that anonymous is not a very good nickname. Bonus points for me becuase my nickname was in an issue of PC Gamer magazine.
should work on a cooking forum too with an extra s "anonemousse"...
Seriously though great find...:D
Anemonemousse, maybe?
Replacement for Nori leaves. -w-
"with friends like that, who needs anemones" lol...
I was listening to a song and right as i found this site, it said cockleshell so i signed up as cockleshell..
Wow, i don't know wether to call that totally randomness, epic, or... eeeh...
man i never heard of that before ;010
God hand, god hand.
Fate is bored.
Heh. My name was actually chosen to differentiate from another name I picked up -- my name as an author.
I'd rather nobody else mentioned this, but I first picked up the name
Bane_Chao
Because I was a complete-and-utter Chao fanatic (I still have an awesome Chao garden to this day, SA2), and needed an author name. It even led to an icon I could make.
However, I grew out of the name (and the authorsona I gave it), so I shelved that name and turned it into a Bonus Boss . . .
Next came M. Burusu (DON'T ANYONE REVEAL THIS TO ANYONE, -PLEASE- -- it's not that I'm embarrassed at all, it's just that I like to keep names seperate). That one came up when I saw an image titled 'Burusu Neenja' -- a picture of Muramasa Blues from the Rockman.EXE manga. The 'Burusu' for 'Blues' clicked, and a shield-toting authorsona was born.
How that same authorsona ended up as being a whacko with a mane of purple hair, red eyes, a too-tight grey coat with a broach fastening it together (plus a skintight black vest underneath and a pair of pants, with spike-toed boots and black gloves to finish it off) is ANYONE'S GUESS.
Then, when I went to DeviantArt, I decided to take up a different name -- one that I wouldn't be recognized under. It soon came to pass that that would be my 'Public domain' DevID, and so I'm thinking of changing it again (because it lists the name as 'Blear', which is a persona I don in more . . . questionable sectors). That DevID was 'ObligatoryBob' (hit me up if you want to talk, but for the life of me I can't get the chat feature to work).
Next, I decided I needed a repository for my less . . . safe-for-work viewing. So, I took the name I'd used on a forum, Blear, and added 'Bob' to the end of it to make 'BlearBob'.
So yeah -- it's evolution.
Nice. Yours actually has a story, whereas mine is just a pseudonym that I use everywhere.
By the way, BLUES.EXE FTW! AND COLONEL.EXE! ROCKMAN.EXE IS EPIC WIN!
Nice a real story behind a nick... ;010
I don't even come close to that depth, my name only explains a couple of personal traits of mine...
My name doesn't have any backstory. It DOES have an AFTER STORY, though, for things I learned or realized AFTER that...
...time paradox, i has it.
WTF?!
I.... have difficulties understanding....
I've stopped trying, I'm just waiting for the next thing to come. Seriously, much of the stuff I've come up with have just built themselves bigger on their own as time's gone by. It's freaky.
Well that's one of the explanations of my nick Smokey ; my logic being as clear as thick smoke... :D
*sneaks into topic, ninja-snake-slug style*
uhm, choco is.....well, i love chocolate, and i used to be called "coco" back in the day. coco is a play off my real name. and even though i'm changing my name next year, i think it'll stick.
as for "freak", well, i'm a self-proclaimed freak, so there we go.
i'm not 13, i just love that number, and i've used this exact user at many a site.
my other nickname, "max", is the second half of my first name shortened. i'm keeping the second half when i change my name for this purpose. :3
some other nicknames include:
cueball, which i was called when i was a baby, since i did not get hair till i was 2. :\
julie thompson, my pseudonym.
The, logic...
It never stops... :D
whose logic? yours, mine, or someone elses?
Yours...
My logic chips away at all the rules of physics...
and yours chips away at ontopicness <_____<
Well, then for a rare on-topic moment, i could swear i saw a couple of new users that haven't posted here yet!!
We should drag 'em in, right?
For the sake of on-topicness itt, not for the entertainment of seing lassooed newbied being dragged around kicking and screaming :D
Unfortunately we don't have a "lasso" function on this forum at the time, please ask the administrator responsible.
...er.
Well, the origin of my nick is quite simple:
On forums and such you have to take a certain persona depending on the forum and what it's about
So, instead of thinking a different one on each forum, I just decided to keep it simple and made it: "Persona"
Mine is from Yu Yu Hakusho, Urameshi Yuusuke. Mine is Urameshi Ryuusuke. Not really special. This is just my nick for forums, I have other nice nicks for games and subscriptions.
Mine has some relation to my real name. Though, since I'm a cryptic and slightly paranoid bastard, I'm not saying how. >:3
public school,
05 (year graduated), slate (last 5 of last name), j (first initial)
used it for 4 years so its easy to remember.
Mine had to do with Digimon....
Mine comes from one of the first forums I was on. It was a forum dedicated to my dream car, and the film that the car was the star of. The movie car was often referred to as "The Devil's Red Car" and "The Infernal Machine", so I amalgamated the two and Red_Machine was born!
What film was that? Christine? didn't that have an anti-chrystler?
LOL! Yes it was. Finest thing to EVER come out of Detroit.
Yeah, Stephen King is WIN... i remember when i read my first book, i was 7 and we had to go to the library with school... i got me Pet Semetary... :D
My personal favourite.
I wanna be OS. That's all ;036
origin of nick.....well the full form of it is Gerivaereth (used for already 7 years) and it just came out of my real name's translation. Just call me Vae, it's easer to repeat))
sounds like an interesting name... :D
Always fun to have users who put a bit of thought in their nicks... ^_^
The nick is transleted from Russian into Elvish ;012 And real name has Persian origin
Ah, Elvish, LOTR elvish?
And a persian origin, you don't see that very often... Most names originate from Latin (like mine)...
Yeah, that's it. It was the time when LOTR was at the fist place :)
Persian origin is mostly widespread in my country, but maybe other Slavic countries have it too. Anyway there is a Saint whose name is the same as mine
Hmmm, Have to look up that translation, now you've gotten me interested...^_^
You can see councilofelrond (the transletion is from this site) or I can tell you if you want to ;012
Don't want to sound lazy... ^_^ But do tell...
It's Daria ^_^ Simple in real world but as you see it is very long in Elvish XD
Daria... Nice name, i'd have never guessed... ^_^
But then again, i am used to people from eastern europe to have mostly Slavic names...
This name is used in Russia for a long time so its practically become "Russian"
At my side I used to Latin names as well as you to Slavic cuz we have some foreign students in the university (but this theme is OT so if you want I'll tell you about it in other place ;064 )
Yeah, you're right, this is OT...
But I'm not one to comment, there are only three people in Holland with my last name...
Oh I'm not good at foreign last names at all ^_^ So I it would be hard for me even to surmise :( (yeah, I told myself already not to OT but I so wanted to comment  )
Shame on you, Smokey, always leading new members astray, shame! XP
It's okay Vae-san, we tend not to come down on OT here unless it really gets out of hand (there seems to be an event once a month like that). I try my best to curb it in advance if I see it coming, but even I have found myself falling into it. A word of advice, if you engage in a convo with Smokey, it's bound to become OT at one point or another, XP.
He has interesting themes and they provide OT, that's all^_^
Hence my title "King of OT"... I really should have that instead of OS-tan Master... ^_^
But not even you have seen the true OT-days of me, Ian. I have cut back alot...
(BTW this was on topic, i was discussing one of my names and it's origin...)
So if it is not we can continue discussion , cuz in my country last name's origins are too is very interesting (and some times funny) problem ;012
Officially, yes... Because this discussion is about your name, wich has a direct link to your nickname and is thus a discussion of the aforementioned...[/lawyertalk]
Oh, don't get me started... i usually spell my last name directly when pople ask for it... Bemrose, what can you expect, no Dutchman can spell that if they haven't seen it...
Same goes for my first name too... Most peole here spell it the dutch way; Sebastiaan...
Well, if don't set stress on the letter "a" as an incorrect i would be pronounce the same way as the dutch  This name I heard only twice in my live when i watch "the little mermaid" animation. Translation was awful. Only after watching this film with original sound i found how to pronounce some worlds and names correctly. But as I sad i heard that name only twice so I have fogotten that it spells like Sebastiaan (I hope i am correct...)
And when i read your last name i thought about roses (and spell the end like english word "rose" ) ^_^
My last name contains 9 letters and is hard to spell in russian either (more over people often writes it incorrectly) I guess for Latin it will be harder to spell it...Solodovnik is not a rare surname in my country but still hard to pronounce
Doesn't sound too hard to pronounce... ut then again, i am probably used to it, since i know/knew dutch, english, brazilian, polish, morrocan and arabian people... ^_^
And in my case it's Sebastian, although i stopped worrying about people spelling/saying Sebastiaan...
oh if it isn't hard for i'm glad ^_^ *Remembered visa registrartion officer spelling her last name when he saw it*
Yeah, i get that all tha time... :D
My last name makes people think I'm part of an italian mafia family, apparently...
...or at least italian, for those who aren't into mafia families much.
This disturbs me. -.-
It disturbs you?
Intresting....so interesting that I want to know why it is associate with camorra (if i amn't mistaken this is the way how italian mafia is called)
Well, apparently one of the old Big Families have that very same name...
...creepy.
Have to look the names of this Families cuz i'm interested ^_^ (and also know about Italian mafia more then it's name)
HAAAAI~
They dump garbage everywhere.
What's happened with the old-school JUST KILL PEOPLE AND TAKE THEIR STUFF mafia? Srsly, world these days.
They don't want to attract smb's attention nowadays, that's all ^_^
Tch. Fags, that's what they are.
Old Maffia was a highly organised syndicate with stricter rules than the catholic church... Usually, they weren't the "gangsters" you see in movies, more (illegal) businessmen...
Heck, the Yakuza was put in charge by the Japanese government to supervise the "gray zone" businesses (like gambling and prostitution) and keep it in check... Yakuza weren't gangsters at all, they were even more like businessmen and a sort of unofficial police...
The РуÑÑÐºÐ°Ñ Ð¼Ð°Ñ,,Ð¸Ñ has changed in the nineties, becoming more of a big international business and adding lots of ex-KGB and ex-politicians to their ranks, but even before that they were people, with a code of honor, you could buy interesting things from and (probably) loan a few bucks from...
Well that is at least those (La Cosa Nostra, the ヤã,¯ã,¶ and the РуÑÑÐºÐ°Ñ Ð¼Ð°Ñ,,иÑ) are the three crime syndicates most respected by me...
It is true that The Russian Mafia has interested in politics much lately but I think with this it has lost its code of honor. May be it just seemed that it has it, but in my opinion it hasn't it at all already (But I can be wrong cuz I don't no much about any mafia organizations  )
About Yakuza, yes, I heard that they are really "gentlemen" ^_^
And about La Cosa Nostra I don't know anything so I can't comment it ;012
Well the Russian Mob has indeed lost it's code of honor... It did have one, way back...

the most dangerous man is a gentleman.
just look at nejin! xD
I was a gentleman? Shit. Passed me.
Want to see Neji in a role of a gentelman ^_^ I think he will be so cute ^_^
Nah, I look like an Agent from the Matrix in those sunglasses...
-w-
more like an agent from MIB I think
Actually, they look pretty much alike, except Woll Smoth being black, so yeah
MIB...hard for me to image real people in that appearance(
Meh, MIB is just a bunch of guys walking around in a black suit... ^_^
awww, nejin would be sou cyoot! <3 i think he'd look slightly like james bond, only with better hair. :3
hmmm, i'll take a risk and say what's on my mind right now: considering i already have 3 guys for my "harem", i'm considering counting nejin as number 4. xD
lolz. nejin, you'd fit in perfectly, all of the guys can be major a-holes, and all with nice, long hair. :3 (i like guys with a twig's physique, and hair longer than mine. xD you seem to fit too. xD)
Harem of guys :D Only yesterday i questioned myself why only men are supposed to have a harem :D
Well I imaged Neji as MIB person and he appers to be very serious ;013
i can barely picture real people......anime is easier....
now i see nejin in a suit, grinning and laughing a la Lupin the III xD
yeah, i got a harem for my birthday (mind you, one guy wasn't there, he didn't even have the courtesy to tell me, he just plopped in on me the day before :[ ) but i still count him cause he fits the bill.
so my harem is as follows: dan, donovan, james, and nejin. xD
*has delusions of grandure involving a throne and shirtless chained up harem guys* xD
I just imaged this throne in anime sence ^_^ But It strangely looked like the throne of Cleopatra from Asterix & Obelix film ^_^
I'm more likely to be standing behind the throne, screwing with your hair and smiling evilly. Bringing me on the same level as anyone else is asking for trouble! And my evil megalomaniac laugh...well, last time I used it, the entire crowd got paralyzed, so yeah. >:3
Imagining nejin doing that while wearing a suit somehow remind me of Count Dracula ;026
Hey, with my hair I've been accused of looking like both Legolas and a vampire, and my fangs aren't the smallest either -w-
Mine started as a silly thing a group of friends and I did where we picked a "food name" for everyone. Mine ended up being Peaches, which was supposed to be short for Peaches and Cream, but we never really cared enough to say any more than just Peaches. Then after I got the BRIGHT idea of making a SN in Japanese, I made up kawaiiamaimomo, partially out of boredom, partially cause I get called cute a lot, and sweet and peach seemed to fit together well. Then I decided to just knock off the kawaii for shortness, cause it gets annoying typing my email address as is, so I just made pretty much anything I can be under amaimomo. Pretty lame story, I know, you are more than welcome to make up something new.
momo-san: i think it's cool! yum yum cannabalism! =D
nejin-san: eh, you probably wouldn't be alone.....you'd be messing my hair up or doing something to annoy me xD, dan would be sitting next to the fancy chair, on his laptop, playing megaman..... >_>;, donovan would be doing one of 3 things: 1. sitting with me in his lap 2. laughing at me in some way 3. helping you. , while james would be off in the corner sneering at how stupid we all are. :\
vae-san: everyone that imagines it helps keep the dream alive. :3
seamore-san: ehhh......i can't say i'd mind the dracula motif, in fact i'd probably love it. my fangs are a tad longer than most people's because they grew in weird. not to mention blood is a tasty little delacasy once in awhile..... :]
Oh i have one fang that sticks out (literally) , but that's because i had a double set of adult front teeth in my upper jaw... That plus my jaw is a bit too small to fit all my teeth, it mutated a bit due to an accident i had while i was young...
Speaking of teeth accidents, my left upper front teeth is a replacement...lost it at judo practice when I was 9 -w-;
Afraid of lossing theet very much cuz I nearly lost some when was 11-12 ;026
i had 3 sets of canines for awhile. my top adult set grew in OVER my baby set cause the baby set refuse to leave. thus, when the babys fell out and the adults dropped down, it left them longer than the rest of the teeth. but there is also a gap in the teeth behind them (they are in front of everyone else, thus there is gum space. :\ )
Yeah the teeth problem always was the most difficult, painful and sometimes expensive thing ;026 especially when the baby set refuse to leave or the adult set refuse to grow
Don't even get me started... i had surgery done on my upper jaw to remove my front teeth, had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled with a choppy anasthetic, and i need another surgery to remove my right upper wisdom tooth... among other things...
One of my fillings, a pretty deep one, fell out once, and the nerve beneath was exposed...
...that went on unfixed for a year or so...
THE PAIN
i know how that feels, but believe me that's not as bad as having two wisdom teeth pulled with a shoddy anasthetic... God, i wanted to kill my dentist, heck i wanted to kill myself... I took 1200mg of ibuprofen and it didn't do shit... :(
Let's hope I'm not onto that train, then.
What's more, ever got that schlick schlob of pink, suffocating pain inserted into your mouth?
Making prosthetics is fukken painful. Plus, I did that when I was like what, 9 years old, first time?
Fuckdamn.
Nope never had that, luckily when i had my (adult) front teeth surgically removed, there was another set to replace them... ^_^
Well, be damn sure not to lose those. That'll be a damn pain if you do >_>
Yeah, i can imagine... i also wouldn't be surprised to find my jaw mutated enough to produce yet another set... ^_^
Well mine did occurred when I was trying to hack some Pokémon-roms some years ago =^^=. Nico is just short for /\/1c01/\1 ;018
Damn, you were on a roll with a normal dutch name there (Nico) but you had to make it into a hard to pronounce scandinavian one, eh? ^_^
Last time I checked, Niklas was the scandi variety of Nikolai/Nico-whatevers around the world. No?
Ya sure that ain't nicolai? wich sounds a bit russian btw... ^_^
Russian form is Nikolaj, i think, Nicolai is most likely an eastern variant as well. The scandi variant is Niklas, though.
Ah, well here it usually is Nico, Nick or Nicolaas for guys (with the last one being soo old-fashioned, you're begging for a Flamin') and Nicole or Nicolette for girls...
Well, I used to come from a forum called Glitch City, which, as the name suggests, was home of all things glitches in the Pokemon series.
I came up with the oh-so-unoriginal MissingNo name on the site and it's stuck ever since.
I wonder what glitches there are in the later games. -w-
The "scandi" variant is Nicholas I think X3
Much talk about my name no?
That's wrong, you! Nicholas is english, derived from the Latin/Roman Nikolaus, etc, etc. Niklas is the scandi variant.
nicolai is a nice name. if i have 4 sons, i'll name the 4th that. :]
hmm, i was called "nikki" for a few days.....y'see nicoletta is an italian veriant of mah name...(well, current name).
meeh. mah name will be kari soon enough. which could be taken in 2 ways:
1. scandi origin, meaning "pure".
2. japanese origin, word for "light".
:3
my name is simple, really, i'm a lazy person, and i'm also a ninja
I've been using this nickname for some time in different places and with different services.
I think that I use it because when I was a little boy I played videogames occasionally and one day I played Street Fighter 2 and I was amazed about the skills of that character.
i was in highschool (7 years ago) and i needed something that sounded awesome for a gaming name, since the computer class always finished early and we would play Doom for PC. I looked up a japanese word that meant "desolate" and or "lonely" which was the word Koei. Also a Brand name for video games :D lol
and so i pwnt many and thats what ive been using ever since.
The only thing goes through my mind with the word koei = Romance of the three kingdom and Dynasty warriors.
While for Mbison, the thing that goes through my mind is one of his technique called Psycho crusher (and between my friend usually slang it to Peanut Crusher....)
Nejin. Nejin, you look... different.
What have you done to Yuki.
I... used a period. Ehh... Shows that I'm serious business. Else I'd have used a question mark. Something like Unicode Character 'REVERSED QUESTION MARK' (U+2E2E).
Irony.
Warhammer 40K and perveted humor sense.
Ultimaninja
Ultimus - Latin (From my time learning latin)
Ninja - (My interest in ninjas)
Aquamentis
I had the name as a character for a story, and I thought the name flowed perfectly as a screen name.

I love music. ^^

My name is from two fictional characters that I like: Sora from Digimon, and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. It dosn't hurt that it's a gender-neutral name.

Er... my nickname comes from my dA username BellaCielo.
Which in turn is Italian for beautiful sky, which in turn I have no idea where it came from...
^^ that one's nice
my old name also got shortened to "coco", which in turn became choco.
So where did 'freak 13' come from?
Didn't Choco once say she was 13? I can't remember. T'was long ago.
I doubt that, considering she's two years younger than me.
(for safety reasons I should mention that I'm not 15 years old either)
The "13" is most likely the age she was when she first started using the username. Please keep in mind that the name is a carryover, so no, that doesn't mean she was 13 when she joined.
So Bella, why so Italian?
My nick is D4m4s74
It started just as D4 (my real name is Dick, which often is censored, it's 4 letters, so I changed it to D4) Usually usernames have to be at least 6 symbols, so after a while I changed it to d4masta, finally setteling on d4m4s74 (pronounced da masta).
I've used it ever since
You know, Rich is also short for Richard... :P
And if you're actually named Dick, someone's gotta talk to your parents cuz whoever gave you that name was a real...you lost the game man ´V`
They originally wanted to call me Marc, but when I came out my mother screamed "It's a Dick"
nah, seriously, I'm dutch and in holland it's a (reasonably) normal name, it's my father's name, his father's name, his father's name, his father's name is Jan, but HIS father's name is Dick again
Online (if I have to enter my full name) I usually go by Alfred Nonymous though (pun on anonymous, I've used it since 2007 and might change my real name to it when I move to the USA)
Ah. Ah, ah. Well, that way, huh, I guess it's acceptable ´>`
Nice name change though man -w-
Only trouble is that Alfred is a boys name, so you aren't totally anonymous...

I think I remembered Choco-san once saying 13 was her favourite number. I could be wrong, though.
And I'm not sure about the Italian thing either-- maybe because I'm one half Sicilian? :p
My surname is the same as that of a Sicilian mafia family. Italy is a bit everywhere, really.

you're both right. i originally started using that user on Ga!a when i was 13, but shortly turned 14 after. i never used it for that purpose, however; 13 is my favourite number, even now that i am older.

At the risk of sounding like a complete cultural dunce, I did not know there were Sicilian-related people in whichever Scandinavian country you live in. XD
We aren't. My father's father's father made the name up, based on something completely different, but it happens to be the same as theirs... -w-; And quite a few times I've been mistaken for an italian in name lists and so on.
The funny part is that we DO have relatives in italy...but I think they're from my father's mother's side, so they probably don't have that name.
I think.
And they moved there from Sweden.
So yeah.
Small world. Or something.
Come down to the Outback and say that. We have farms down here the size of small countries.
Sweden isn't a small country. We have forests the size of small countries. Which, considering the amount of deforestation we've gone through, is quite amazing.
And the oldest registered forestry company is older than your nation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stora) and even the colonization of your continent by a few centuries, so there. (in case you don't get it, this makes my arguments superior to whatever you come up with)
Ah America, where a Scotch-Irish boy can arrive in Boston with nothing and die fifty years later a military hero and a retired Congressmen. And curse seven generations of their male descendants with the same name.
Virginia: Yes, we still have trees
I wasn't actually thinking of Sweden when I said that. Most of Europe will fit in Australia.
well, not sweden exactly. and you still fit in us. xD
ah, boston. beautiful, cultural center in some parts, crimeinfested rathole in others. ^^ they were actually going to make an adult swim series called southies based off of south boston. wonder what happened. (it actually looked pretty good, and kinda true xD)
at least boston isn't as bad as lawerence. *shakes head*
So I'm not an European anymore? Huh. Didn't see that one coming.
Is it just me or is this place just reeking of nationalism?

Do these discussions ever take place in the Location (where they would arguably belong) thread?
Anyway, this thread and Member Intro are way OT... is it just the holiday spirit overtaking us?
I'll stop here if you are worried.
Good idea...
Anyone else care to discuss the origin of their sn? No?
you wouldn't think some sort of overbearing nationalist attitude would come up in the nickname thread of all places. but then, i suppose this IS os-tan.....
like i mentioned before, "choco" also evolved out of a primitive early nickname of "coco".
that and i'm a choco-holic ^^
my name stems from the anime Fate Stay Night......that and the name Saber kind of stuck with me because i model swords
......lolz.......i'm adapting a fate stay night cosplay into my win2k cosplay...... xD

hmm, that's interesting. i have never seen it take that form. bravo. :3
I feel my number has been taken advantage of. ;_;
it's not JUST yor number. it's been MY number as long as i can remember.
I was born with it. >x<
Well, my "nickname" here is a no brainer. It's just my first and last name linked together.
I have had a multitude of nicknames in the past however, although I can only remember two of them clearly off the top of my head.
Kumori and Arbiter.
Kumori, cos it's my middle name, and was used as the first name of one of my fan characters.
Arbiter, cos... Well, I'm a fan of Halo, and the Arbiter is just awesome. Best rank in the Covenant.
halo = red -vs- blue =

The top of the banner are also have the picture of the animal, and they can summon it out or something. I can't remember then name anymore. Does anyone ring a bell?
origin of my nickname are from my real name. hahahaha
technically that's where mine was born from too. ^^
My nickname is originated from my own name, which I shortened to Nzn. Then the 003 means I'm the third son. Plus, I love number 3. x3
third son...... :\
i'm the closest thing my family has to a son. ^^
Oh what do you mean? ):3
omg i'm in the first page D: i feel old! XD
Upon reflection, it seems I never explained mine.
Stewart AFB once held a SAGE operations center. It's patch was my first avatar. Said patch is friggin sweet.
yay!
and yeah, my dad clearly didn't want kids and if he did he wanted a son, and i'm such a tomboy that made the joke that i'm the "token son". xD
of course, someone else made the joke that i'm actually reito's bastard child..... (he's a friend of the family, but they haven't spoken in a decade or so)
Mine, which is just yukio, came from a baby book that had names from all around the world. Japanese section came up, saw that yukio meant snow boy, and the rest is nickname history.
do you like snow?
Yup but I live in a place where there is almost no snow so D:
i sorry. :[
i'm near canada, so we get snow every winter (and sometimes spring) ^^
I'm in Texas so no so for me DX
HAH, texas. xD
Somehow, Australia has a mountain range called 'The Snowy Mountains'.
First, we sure as heck aren't famous for our snow, and two, how unoriginal is that?!
we have the rocky mountains. even LESS original.
I don't think our mountain range even HAS an official name. ._.
Was watching Code Geass and Gurren Lagann back in '07. Enough said.
dun get it .__.
Never seen Code Geass, but I have seen Gurren Lagann, so I get the drill reference.
Good to know we don't have an Anti-Spiral in our midst.
Kurt is a half troll half serious user i created on a swedish anime/manga forum a few years ago. The name kurt is a swedish name, kurt was basicly a 60 year old guy that loved accordion music. The user got banned cuz i pretended to be someone i wasn't, so i made a new user this time called kurten, that user was allowed to remain so i kinda adopted the username for future using ^_^ AMD, self explanitory, it describes my love for AMD processors.
:3 i like self expression through a nickname. ^^
Wanted to give this thread a new life since I think it's always interesting to know where people get their online nicknames from. ^^
My own post was originally on the very first page, and the story's of course the same. I might just add that I don't really use Pitkin as my nickname anywhere else anymore, but instead I'm often using Chinkle (like in IRC channels), some twist of my real name or some site's-theme-related nickname. I guess one of the reasons for this change is that I was totally away from forums for a long time and somehow wanted to distance myself from sites that I used to post in a lot back in time.
edit: Oh yes, the reason why I remembered this thread was because I was listening to the radio play that I got the name Pitkin from while being on the forum. ^.^
Fun necropost~~~~
Mine is a shortening of BellaCielo (my dA handle), which is a rough Italian translation of "beautiful sky". Probably influenced by my habit of skywatching and an obsession with a certain Saturn roadster. Since the advent of Twilight and the permanent ruining of the name, I tend to prefer Bells or Borya or whatever creative nickname others can come up with .w.
Ow, I didn't even think of Twilight before, but it makes sense now. -.- My condolences, Bells. :/
My nickname irl and sometimes online is only one of many; TChan
Other variations include:
Tchandaman
Chaninator
Chanster
NotoriousT
T
Chan
TomChan
and the list go's on and on and on.
I got the Nickname "Kraus" or "Dr. Kraus" from a percussion warm-up which I was the best at named "Kraus I" and "Kraus II" (Two separate parts that made a full song/warm-up). I was the only Freshmen that could play both parts proficiently (I didn't play them at the same time like they were supposed to be played because there is no physical way to play 32nd notes in different rhythms at the same time with only 2 or 4 mallets.)
So thats how I got my nickname(s) got created and I tend to gather more as I make my way through life (Chodebuster is one I've recently been given ._.;
Blitzkrieg is a pretty awesome word... and so is sonar.
I wonder how cool they would be put together?
(8 year old mind ftw)
Choco = love of chocolate
freak = compliment
13 = favourite number
Chocofreak13. had this online handle for about 6 years now. i have also gone by Kari'sAngel3777, back in the archaic times of dial up. =v=;;
irl, i usually go by kari, but i've also been called choco (self-explanitory), sempai (from my kohais in high school =w=), mama (same source .__.; ), and max (short for maxine, my second name).
among some of my brothers (especially ben) i'm known as "sis". :3
In retrospect, I really missed the chance to call my superiors on the Scholastic Bowl team senapi....
yeah, i miss the love. but the school atmosphere is better, so it's a nice tradeoff. :3
My post is the same, and it's there in the back somewhere...
As there's no reasonably accurate translation of "Overlord" to swedish however, my most used nickname is, simply, The King (Kungen). Alternately, King Vasa for when I'm out skiing, for obvious reasons.
ohrite, i keep forgetting to ask, what's the vassa (sp?) like nej? the giant viking ship?
The House of Vasa is the founding royal house of Sweden's modern dynasties (1500s->present), from Gustav I Vasa who defeated the danes and unified teh land. The House itself is extinct, but the current Royal house of Bernadotte had its bloodline unified with a maternal descendant of the Royal swedish line of the House of Holstein-Gottorp, which previously had been maternally unified with the House of Vasa. Ergo, the blood of the founding king lives on.
As for the reference, it's a perk to the "Vasaloppet", which is the 90-kilometer ski marathon I'm off to this sunday...which Gustav himself did while fleeing from the danes throughout Sweden, back in the day when he was raising the rebellion.
All this overlord-ing gives me strong Royalist tendencies, it seems _>_
There was a ship named Regalship Vasa as well, which was huge and sunk on its maiden voyage. -w-;
good for you~
i meant the battleship, though. the one that sank, then was unearthed from the baltic this past century?
i've told one of my teachers to call me max, as it hasn't sunk in for him to call me "kari" (doesn't help that there's this annoying girl in my class named "cara"). :\
People call me the Colonel because of my service in the Soviet Airborne Forces in the late 1950's and my later work in the Michigan Air National Guard.

Dubious, but the mental image of you in a Soviet military uniform is still really awesome. >3<
funny, i thought that came from your resemblance to a young colonel sanders.
either that or your devoted service in the civil war. :3
Old thread,
AWAKEN
I don't remember if I ever posted here...
I picked svx because... every cool name is taken. Everywhere.
But I usually go by svxs since most interwebs sites require 4+ letters
svx = similar to a Subaru WRX? Yeah, we'll go with that :p
I also go by omen on Quakeworld (or "target" to mix things up)
and 結弦 elsewhere (spelled yui tsuru, e.g. Yuzuru)
But that's not my name :p
i always thought "svx" was some abbreviation or some form of your initials. xD
Either which way, it's PURE AWESOME!
I like to think so anyway
I always figured that yours has something to do with:
a. chocolate
or
b. chocobos
So I've decided that it is a mixture of the two
and nothing will change that! :p
(note to self: must play FF9 again soon)
(FF7 is better, foo~)
Quotesome form of your genitals. xD
MIIIIIIIIIIINDSCREEEEEEEEEW
nejin.......
go sleep. it's pretty obvious you need it. =__=;;
In high school I had two separate nicknames; some people called me Mike because 'you look like a Mike' while my closest associates either never used my name or referred to me as 'Mickey D's' for obvious reasons.
@Nej: haha, your mind had a Freudian nips- SLIP, I MEAN FREUDIAN SLIP.
@Stew: come to think of it you do look like Mike... D:
Hm... nicknames I've had over the years? I've been called Pennies, Pookums, Princess, Plastic Pony (PP)... and some variations upon my first name that tend to make me RAGE-FILLED.
Online I tend to go by Bella or Bell/s/z/zors, Borya or Labs. The popularity of Twilight makes me considerably more fond of the variations on my username than the original, though. -w-
@bells: lol.
in high school half the school thought my name was heather. this is heightened by the fact that half the school also thought my best friend's name was heather, including the dean. :\ (her name is melissa.)
@Chocofreak: Why Heather? Was it just some random high school meme or was there a reason? x)
I haven't really had any nicknames IRL before, nice or neutral ones at least. If one considers all the less nice ones, then I guess I've got lots from my middle school bullies (not that my nicknames for them were any better). xP The reason for lack of nicknames is maybe my first name, which is very short and very common as a nickname on its own already, while being less common as given name in Finland. It's a very common name in Eastern Europe and Latin countries, however.
Fedora-Tan and Remilia've given me a couple of nicknames in the recent couple of years, but they're... secret. >.>
@pitkin: are they....SNOOKYPANTS??
idk why heather, so my vote's for random high school meme. technically, at that school, i WAS a meme. -w-
Did it have anything to do with The Heathers?
@Chocofreak: ... Now I've got to ban you. xD
No, not that still. But it made me laugh. x) And congrats or condolences for having been a meme. ^.^
@stew: i don't really know what that is (but it was referenced in rupaul's drag race) so no. i was my school's mythical creature. -w-
@pitkin: damn, my next guess was Rumpelstiltskin. xD and it was kinda cool. i liked being infamous, so long as i was left alone. -w-
I never actually got any nickname to speak of. However, when 80% of a school of over 2000 people know who you are, that's not very necessary.
*applause*
EDIT: in like with the "heathers" thing, people thought me and my best friend were sisters. xD
Oh, the sister thing's familiar. x)
i consider her a sister anyway. :3
I've never liked having any nicknames :p
Oh, how people have tried... Teachers in school particularly
Their failures are legendary and epic!
I was pretty blunt in school... "Don't call me that. I'll ignore you until you get it right"... The teachers did learn :p
i have a friend who was called "kelsie" by one of her teachers so much that the headmaster picked it up, and it took her weeks to straighten it out with the head (her name is chelsea).
lol
The kawaii factor probably plays a role in the decision of calling her Kelsie instead I think! It's like a -tan versus a -chan
I had a girlfriend named Chelsea once
What a... :p
nah, she said it was just annoying and that the teacher just didn't pay any attention to getting it right. :\
Was the tsun followed up by some dere?
That is cute
I'd call her Kelsie too :p
she'd probably knee you in the balls. :\
Forget her then! Who needs her? She hates anime anyway
And she refuses to wear ribbons/hairpins/etc in her hair.
And all she does is nag!
And whine!
"I'm going to a movie. Wahh, boo hoo, woe is me..."
However... She is fiesty...
She could be the, eh... like...
Have you ever seen the movie Salt? With Laura Croft? I mean, Anjelina Jolie?
That was a good movie...
But she could be like that, because Ms Jolie is quite fiesty in that movie
Yeah...
chelsea's nice, and she likes anime. :3
I dunno if I already posted here but i'll explain mah nickname :3
I based my name a song i wrote =w=
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGqGNXFygvY
Yes, that is a vocaloid. Miriam to be exact :3
(also, I got safari to work in wine 8D)
I guess not much to explain here... it's my real name xD
Normally I'm not that uncreative, but it was free here, so I figured why not take it :)
Other nicknames I go by include paulfred, TheMunch, pwuerrer, and most recently littlenoises.
Those are all really awesome nicknames Paul. *Takes notes for future reference*
if you weren't in europe, i'd scold you for being so volunteering with info.
on a semi-related note (and because i don't know what else to post), you can come up with awesome fantasy names if you spell a word backward. for example, in 7th grade or so, i wrote 1 chapter of a fantasy book called "oratmah" (the main character's name, "hamtaro" backwards).
