I was so relieved. They finally got their heads screwed on straight again. ;010
Been waiting for years, and there's probably gonna be a wait period after this, but at least I know they're serious about it. ;019
Some pictures from SC2 (http://media.pc.ign.com/media/850/850126/imgs_1.html).
ZOMG ITS REAL! ITS REAL!
This...this is...beautiful. I was starting to think this day wouldn't come ;_;
I called this a month ago ever since the rumors came out... but FINALLY, it is a great day in the history of gaming :D
It looks soooooooo promising~!
I hope to GOD that they fixed the old issues of spending ungodly amounts of time collecting resorces, and the whole producing one bloody marine at a time and having each marine function by itself, and just trying to send a squad worth of them anywhere becomes unweildy and so unuseful most people stop using them.
T_T
Hopefully they dont just make a pretty version of their old game and learn the lessons that the current RTS have tought us
There goes another game to pirate once it comes shuvvin' down the bucket.
*shakes head* the open piracy around here is shamefull sometimes. People take so much pride in it even.
Well, it's better to pirate it and like it than to just hate it from the start without judgment, ne?
Eh Im hating it from the start with an open ended judgment that i could change if it turns out to be good.
plus, the hating it from the begining isnt Illeagal.
Yeah, but the rabid fanhordes are more likely to slaughter you for that than for piracy, ssu. -w-
Well frankly then, just keep your mouth shut if your worried about fan horders.
You know, I think Im gonna put up a "No Public Piracy" policy. The condoning and publicity of how proud people are here to break the law and rip off game developers, anime producers, and the like is starting to upset me.
well i'm not proud of ripping off people but Its like breathing i need it. :( but i do buy their merchandise from time to time, figs, dvds, mangas, etc.
you just made piracy sound like doing drugs... which dosent impove its image any.
Exactly. Frankly enough, while most pirates stand against the system of proprietarism and copyright itself, some don't realize they're dependent on that very system in their activity. I mean, if everyone was a pirate...well, you've probably heard someone say it before...so piracy is a necessary minority, i think.
Point is, we worry about the legality of images we upload and rights to them and such, and then blatently talk about piracy in topics giving people links to places where then can still download licenced anime, or where they can pirate the latest games
Its gonna stop. Anyone dosent like that, feel free to apply for mod position and take over for me.
Hmmm...I didn't really get that last thing butteeeeh......
We're definitely drifting WAYS off topic here.
Let's trot back to that, shall we?
As the completely StarCraft-oblivious being i am, tell me, what's the story of the thing anyway? What is the thing making it the "best RTS ever made" as some sources claim it is?
I never felt it was any such thing, it was just like all the others in its time. Games like it put me off of RTS for a time,
then came Dawn of War, where you didnt collect resorces, you got points for new stuff by capturing and holding more of the map, making the game agressive, and instead of producing individual troops, you produced squads which were far more weildy and could be customized with special weapons and sergeants to make them more effective to cirtain situations, and you can also drop the map down to troop eye view to see the action take place (plus the battle actions are far more interesting, you actually see the troops fighting and killing each other)
and if all that wasnt enough, the 40k univers is farm more vast and interesting if you ask me, but they have had over a decade to write it. also, the come out with expansions on a regular basis adding new armies and deversity to the game.
then mark of chaos came out, and did something to RTS ive always wanted to see..... Not building anything at all. You build an army before the match, and in the match, you dont spontaniously build barracks and such out of gas and minerals (gawd i hate that) instead you start off with your army and you actually have to think like a real commander about how to position your troops and how to have them fight, suicide charges are no longer an option as you cant just re build your force if your poorly thought out attack dosent go well.
But who knows, like i said, they may suprize me with this one, the have had a long time to learn from their mistakes

Long story short... it may not have innovated much, but it
did what is was supposed to do
EXTREMELY well.
I guess I love it because it was a good multiplayer game. In the earlier days when those kind of games were more scarce, it was the one we played the most. And it's about Blizz showing that they care about something other than that blasted Warcraft series. ;) (No, I was never much for the WC series. I like RTS's with tech, not medieval fantasy settings)
Well, that part certainly is a good one. IMO Warcraft stuff is overrated, unfunny, fancypants dog food...
...but then again, most people in the world definitely won't agree with me on that part. -.-
Well I'm definitely looking forward to this one, too bad they pulled the plug on Starcraft Ghost to make it happen, though.
now THAT I would have been exited for...
finally we can all rest assured that wow is not the only thing on blizzards agenda now ... finally
been waiting for starcaft 2 or diablo 3 or warcraft 4 ... for well since warcraft 3
yay!!. finally.
