Post by: ShinraKenshin on July 24, 2005, 04:34:14 PM
what more can I say little detail is known based on the game but looking at the teaser seems like chris redfield is takeing the field once more on this unique horror surivial twist. All I can say is bust out the shotguns for your xbox 360 and ps3 sorry game cube looks like capcom left you in the dust.

RE 4 had zombies that were smart and ran and used weapons and chainsaws.  nothing new.  cept chris being back is pretty cool.

I don't see much difference between a parasite infected zombie and a virus infected zombie, a shotgun shell still blasts their heads clean off. Also, aren't zombies supposed to be stupid? The threat of zombies isn't cunning, it's overwhelming, and that's why Capcom has other monsters in the series. Dogs, hunters, lickers, deimos, tyrants, and nemesis were intended to be the really scary creatures.

I'm still waiting for a hunter that actually HUNTS you.

Zombie dosnet nessicericly mean a rotten human corpse that still moves. Heck there were zombies in voodoo that were just living humans in a "zombie like" state. The zombies in 28 days later were also alive, just in that state of mind.  That being said I still stand by calling the parasite creatures in RE 4 zombies, because they were relitivly midless, not under thier own free will and somewhat rotten, just not dead.

The tyrants, dogs, giant spiders, sharks... actually all that stuff wasnt scary at all. Well cept for the spiders (in the remake of RE 1 at least, they look so real o.o) but there is something about the mythology and concept of the zombie that interests and creeps me out at the same time.  I enjoyed how they did away with most of the stranger creatures and just had differnt forms of zombies in RE 4.  What made them scary compaired to the previos games is the fact they were fast used weapons and had at least some degree of brain function (i soppose cunning is the wroung word for it.) Smarter, but not "smart" zombies.

Its like.. compairing the original dawn of the dead to the remake.  I enjoyed the remake much more, because the slow moving zombies of the original just didnt seem to be as much of a threat as the fast moving viciose zombies of the remake.  In the original they had zombies in the mall, but they just ran up and down the halls because the zombies were to slow and dim witted to do anything, but the remake, as soon as the zombies got in it was a terror filled gore splatter fest, because the speed made the man eating corpses something to fear (other then the fact that they are moving dead, admit it if you were faced with moving corpses that ate human flesh in real life youd be pretty freaked out.)

n 1: a dead body that has been brought back to life by a supernatural force [syn: zombi, the living dead] 2: (voodooism) a spirit or supernatural force that reanimates a dead body [syn: zombi, zombi spirit, zombie spirit] 3: a god of voodoo cults of African origin worshipped especially in West Indies [syn: zombi, snake god] 4: someone who acts or responds in a mechanical or apathetic way; "only an automaton wouldn't have noticed" [syn: automaton, zombi] 5: several kinds of rum with fruit juice and usually apricot liqueur [syn: zombi]

Hmm....a dead body...oh wait..mechanical...hmm you decide this is from a dictionary I found .

i still think that applies to the parasite creatures from RE4

Voodoo Zombies are real. What creats them is, an African Shamen mixes together a "potion" of sorts. Bob drinks the potion. The potion basicly stops all of Bobs bodily functions to the point when nobody else can tell Bob is still among the living. He still has extreamly faint bodily fuctions. Bobs friends in Africa don't know this. They burry him in the traditoinal African grave(shalow and no casket). Fair amount of time later the potion starts to wear off. Now what effect do you think comming back from near zero bodily functions and extream lack of air flow from being burried has on a person? The've suffered brain damage! Not to mention the fact that the drugs haven't even fully worn off. So Brain damaged Bob wakes up, pushes the pile of dirt off him and starts to wander around. Bob's family see's the man they just knew to be a corps and burried walking around, if that wasn't bad enough he isn't behaving at all like he used to(brain damage). OMFG! The dead are rising!

I miss the slow zombies in the resident evil series, they finaly give us the ability to aim, and now we can't score an easy headshot...

are you freaking kidding me? o_o i love how RE 4 plays. I get easy head shots all the time, it would be any fun if they moved as slow as they did before XD

Call me crazy, but I'd rather have some nails tough, slow, numerus, zobmies, with limited ammo. With the other original creatures too though... I wan't to aim at a licker before it drops down from the ceiling or put a shotgun blast into a tyrants face.

forget that -_- the thing i loved about RE was zombies.. all those other things that came along later.. those.. were... ugh.  I could do without. RE4 was a godsend.  Zombies, all zombies, and lots of them!  and not a single door transition screen!

They were called Ganados, right?
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: CaptBrenden on March 04, 2007, 08:45:12 PM
Something like that. They were parasite zombies. Faster moving and able to use weapons, but still took the same insane amounts of damage
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: zjhentohlauedy on March 05, 2007, 07:20:18 AM
Faster zombies are definitely scarier than slow ones.  ;013

brainless zombies however may be more of a threat than smarter ones since brainless zombies don't finish their meals and leave large chunks of corpses unlike smarter zombies that might think about eating corpses to the bone to ensure complete feeding and less competition. ;026

Post by: CaptBrenden on March 05, 2007, 11:30:14 AM
But smarter zombies ues chainsaws and pitchforks. and will throw torches to flush you out of high places or put up ladders to get to you.  I wouldnt mess with fast smart zombies.

Post by: NekOSaka on March 05, 2007, 11:58:10 AM
Ganados don't eat humans if I'm not mistaken. And they don't spread the infection through bites. You need spores, or an injection of the parasite if I'm not mistaken.

no they did eat people from what I gather.. or they just liked rotten meat.  Leon found rotten meat and bodyparts in a house or two.

Seriously Capcom, bring back the zombies. I don't care if they're smart, running zombies, as long as they're zombies. I miss my shambling piles of rotting flesh...

No, its not but "Mr Death" HUNK made it out against far more then any other character has faced in a RE game before 4 and with the g virus in tow.

oh and he has shown his face before in ending pictures.  All the ones I found on the internets arnt linkable tho -_- and in this concept picture he wears glasses.  Maybe thats part of the reason he wears the gas mask.. you can get perscription gasmask lenses and it is an effective way of keeping them on your face in combat...

Hey CaptBrenden, what Resident Evil games have you played? Have you played 2 and 4?
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: CaptBrenden on March 21, 2007, 08:50:24 PM
um.. like i think just about all of them.. exept outbreak. I never bought a HD for my ps2 or the net adapter, but other then that all of them.   Even the 2 where you use a light gun.  im a RE freak. but 4 is the best, second best would be 2.  Both had hunk, ada  and leon!

Whats your opinion on the fact that RE: 4 has Ada?
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: Megaman Z on March 22, 2007, 07:36:01 PM
my opinion on RE4 having Ada: she's a nessisary nuisance.

considering that the PS3 isn't doing so well and MS is making a 3rd XBOX 360 (Zepher or the XBOX Elite), I don't know how badly this one will end up being.
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: CaptBrenden on March 22, 2007, 08:30:32 PM
Its RE. chances are it will be ported to other systems eventrually anyways.   No gerantee that is will stay on PS3.  I mean.. there is already chance that Metal Gear is gonna jump ship too.  Like rats....

What do you mean about my opinion of her in it?  Shes always been a double agent, she survived 2... it makes sence storyline wise, and well you cant have another leon story without more ada (or hunk for that matter)

Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: NekOSaka on March 23, 2007, 11:29:52 AM
Wait, I'm not following how it makes sense that she survived RE: 2. She was originally wounded by Berkin when he slashed through the steal to the train, she was shot by Birkin's wife, she fell several hundred feet down into the nether regions of a metal clad facility hundreds of feet underground, and the whole facility detonated minutes after she fell, with Leon, Claire, and the little girl only barely escaping the explosion when they got a ride from the emergency exit train. Did I miss some sort of all encompassing explanation or something?

In the second senario if your playing leon she tosses him the rocketlauncher to defeat the tyrant.  plus in some background videos put on youtube it explains that Wesker who did alot of manipulating from the shadows saved her from there.  he had already been reserected by that point by the mysterios orginization that he talks about in code veronica

Yeah, I just wish that every time a fan favorite died they didn't anihilate them, as in Ada's case, and Zero from Megaman X several times. If there is the slightest possibility of them bringing a character back you shouldn't show their decapitated head being fed into a meatgrinder as their death scene.
Title: Resident Evil 5
Post by: CaptBrenden on April 03, 2007, 09:34:49 PM
that reminds me about how graphic the death sceans for lean can be if you die in #4.. like actually having your face melt off if one of the bugs get you, or having your head cut off by the chainsaw dude.. or having knife pushed into his throat if you push the wroung button in the krauser sequence

In my wee years I watched so many violent movies and horror movies I was greatly desensitized. Which is funny that I think parents should monitor what kids watch/play now. (Just so people like Hilary Clinton can't complain about video games and their EVIL ways)
