If anybody has any interest in the making of new tans, keep reading, now if you don't find comfort in the os gals then listen up, for years I like cars of every make and model and manfacture name, so I was wondering if anyone who has a favorite car please try and do a sketch of it as a tan and submit it to this website and see how many people look at the artwork.
Hey what do you have to lose, this might be the start of something big!
MINE EYES HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE OF THE TAN WORLD!
also try to be creative with the tool you use. (computer/pencil/or paint)
Hmm, nice idea, but I admit, I phail at graphics.
Can't really help here.
But some ideas:
-Tans that represent gas guzzlers eat a lot/have big boobs (similar to OS-tans, most notably XP-tan, and memory)
Actually, that's all I've got.
Someone needs to head over to Wakachan. They can "help" (http://www.wakachan.org/os/wakaba.html) you.
No more feeding the trolls, sage goes in every meal.
Post at your own risk there. But they do post up personifications of just about everything there, including cars.
Although I am not very fond of personifications aside from OS-tans and other computer related-tans, I just might try my luck at making a car-tan of a car I like.
350Z tan!
R32 tan!
Well, how about tans of electric apliances?
Like VHS-tan, Microwave Oven-tan, CD player-tan and so on?
As for a tan of a car, I would love to see one of the IKA-Renault Torino 380W
I personally think we shouldn't go too wide with the -tans, or we should change this into "*-tan collections"....
humm if I were to create a car tan, id wanna see one for the Police Intercepter Dodge Charger
(http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/10134/Dodge_Charger_Police-L.jpg)
that is a sexy car, and it would make one sexy cop lady tan
My first impression when i scrolled down to that picture was "..MANLY"
Needz moar -kun.
I dunno, it could work as a tan... ever met a female police officer? They tend to be tomboyish.
anyhow, instead of the ealier proposed thought of gas guzzeling being the chest deciding factor, that would more be hunger like XP. Instead I think chest size would be determined by how powerful the car is. A little 4 banger jalopy would be flat as a board, and that 8 cylnder beast charger would be stacked.
American cars are butch an powerful...
Unlike the sleek 'n sexy English GTs, although a 600BHP V12 would make for a nice cupsize... :D
Its an interceptor, its suppose to be powerful :P It actually takes quite the car indeed to outrun police cruisers.
anyhow, I was gonna doodle up a charger tan but I cant come up with any good ideas for her exept that her badge would look like the charger sheild, that she would be big chested, black uniform, any maybe, just maybe have her with those dual color eyes so shes got one red eye and one blue eye... tho I could try to get so the gear on her duty belt represented some of the features of the car..
Does this apply on tanks?
(1500HP V-12 diesel Leo2 would be interesting)
well only if you included just tanks on the scale. tanks typicly require more HP, so you cant really jusge their HP to that of a car... Now if you were compairing the power behind the T-55s engin to that of the Abrams then i think it could be an indicator
police light headband, maybe?
and if it were the old charger (~'69) she'd be fast but horrible in the corners and she could hardly stop... ^_^
Think of the brutal voice she would have...
And i'd expect nothing less from you VonDaab... Good thinking though, tanks...
Yeah, I was kinda being just silly.
What I know, tanks are measured by armor thickness and weight. Or something, I'm not sure.
Speed 'n gunz...
That's tanks... (and yes armor is important too of course, but it's less fun in peace-time practice):D
Yeah, well its not the old charger, its the new charger that has started sweepoing across the US replacing the crown vic as americas number one police interecepter both for its speed and handling.
The heair band is an idea, maybe... Tho Im against strapping parts to girls, as ive said many times before. I want to see a character that matches the personality and reputation of the car, not simply parts of the car strapped to her.
Thinking about it now tho, maybe since its a sexy car, I could make her a mini skirted cop girl... Its a flashy car, so flashing a little leg might be appropriate...
Personality wise.. a girl with a strong sence of duty and the desier to protect others... She would be one of the fastest runners on the block, loving to chase after bad people or run for the fun of it. Shes a rooky tho, the new girl on the force, and crown vic is always rubbing her experience and service record in her face.
Added after 19 minutes:
come to think of it, this should prolly be moved to the OStan fanfics and such subforum.
True, but i don't really know how the car behaves and such, i was raised with the notion that american cars lack the sophistication of european or japanese ones (suspension, drivetrain and such), but make up for it with good looks and a great sounding V8s.....
Apart from the mirrors it kinda makes me think of a southern sherrif...
how about 18 wheelers?
Guys. Like lumberjacks.
Quotehow about 18 wheelers?
Already have one, his name is Optimus Prime...
._.
XD
nandeyanen? ^_^
o_O...
Well a good truck can be a beautiful sight, and a truck is naked without her trailer......
Not interested in this until cars get maglev.
then dont post on it? BRILLIANT!!
I think Im gonna doodle charger tan later.
Better yet, WHY don't cars have maglev?
Also I get a sudden urge to draw something crappy, say it's maglev and post it just to ruin the mood. Why is it so troll in here, skipper?
pyohoho
troll sighted.
-whips out her red slingshot of death-
If nejin is there, he is trolling. But please, dont feed the troll.
Anyone have anything useful to say about car tans? anyone?
Needs moar prius-tan.
She'd be really efficient and rather futuristic-looking...
QuoteAnyone have anything useful to say about car tans? anyone?
Yes, I have.
And that is, TL/DR,
pics or it didn't happen~
More seriously though (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?) I think you'd need a starting point. /jp/ has some of the related stuff i think, and if you look hard and at the right time you might find stuff at, say, /o/ or /n/. Dunno though, since I never go there.
waka/nc/ is also possible - I've seen some things like it there before, didn't save though - but that board's the slowest board in history, really. Don't expect any express delivery, regardless of what you /r/.
Speaking of which, you can always try /r/ or /rs/. Might help if you're lucky.
Lastly Danbooru works for most things, if all else fails.
Don't blame me for anything, although you always blame me for everything anyway, so meh.
Added after 1 minutes: Also OH LAWD, not a car but still. SHIT. I lol'd.
wow, reguardless of the assumption that everyone boards like you, you actually put some thought into posting and said something midly useful. I am shocked.
That prius looks pretty similar to my car. I like the look of it. Toyota huh? Ill have to look up some stuff about it.
Likewise, captain, I am shocked that I had to read your post 5 times before understanding that first line.
Hm.
I wonder how an old Volvo-tan would look like. All blocky and square? Pfft.
While them french cars are all curvy and tech-savvy. Hm.
Why do I know shit about cars anyway?
I think you hold the record for the most said without anyone understanding it.
Personaly Im not much of a car person. Ive seen a couple that I thought were pretty cool, but I cirtanly dont read any hotrod magazine or anything of that sort. I reserve that kind of geekery for guns and military hardware.
You remember how VW used to release those differnt versions of the jetta? Like the jetta music and the jetta trek? Do they still do that? Those would make for excellent tans with personality.
I highly doubt it.
One thing that's funny though, nowadays a car's got two selling points:
Environment-friendliness
Safety
unless you put one of those, and preferrably both, on your ad nobody's gonna care. Or maybe they will because you DON'T, I dunno, but that's what everyone really looks for nowadays isn't it?
Eh, safety yes, the how green it is? maybe there but I dont see it too much here. We have out bunny loving tree huggers, but they apperently dont sell cars.
Too bad that cars aren't as nearly as stylish as they were in the 1950's-1970's. A lot of cars these days are so drab and utilitarian! Couldn't we keep the style while making the cars more efficient?
I'd like to see or possibly draw a few car-tans including:
Model T-tan
DeLorean-tan
Viper-tan
and a Hummer-tan!
Ehh, hummers are ghey :P Now a Humvee tan, that id be all for.
The delorean might be interesting too. Someone had one of those on the base i used to be stationed at. I could hardly belive that I was seeing it. Prolly belonged to some high muckity muck general.
Unfortunatly except for the charger and the Humvee, I dont know enough about any of those to make a tan for.

I could barely understand that. Sorry, but half the time you're completely incomprehensible to me. I'd need a special Cappy Language Filter installed for that to make sense, and that'd take some time to code.
Anyway. What about the weirdo versions some cars have today, like the Renaults and their trapdoor windows? That'd make for some interesting materials.
QuotePersonaly Im not much of a car person. Ive seen a couple that I thought were pretty cool, but I cirtanly dont read any hotrod magazine or anything of that sort. I reserve that kind of geekery for guns and military hardware.
I guess I'm kind of a car person, not an expert by any stretch, but since when am I an expert at anything XD. I used to have a Hotrod subscription, but after they started focusing on more modern models I started losing interest. Of all the cars I've seen, my favorite is probably the '71 Dodge Challenger... or any Challenger from around that time really. I don't know of any new cars that truly evoke any kind of passion from me.
QuoteToo bad that cars aren't as nearly as stylish as they were in the 1950's-1970's. A lot of cars these days are so drab and utilitarian! Couldn't we keep the style while making the cars more efficient?
I really really love stylish cars, I mostly prefer the classics, but there are a few today, that I like. Despite all that, I really don't see why so many people get hung up on the aesthetics of "green" vehicles. Up until recently, I wouldn't say such vehicles were designed with the common car person in mind - that is, they are designed practically for practical people. Less emphasis is placed on appearance so designers can focus on making the car smaller and less heavy (lighter weight = greater fuel efficiency). Anyway, now that it appears more people have jumped on the "green" bandwagon, I'd say it's more likely we'll see cars designed with aesthetics and efficiency in mind.
QuoteViper-tan
That shouldn't be too difficult to design. The car has very striking features, and if anyone needs help with the concept, I can provide a few ideas based on the specs of the car.
I feel compelled to mention that Carroll Shelby get his old ass to work on a sexy, enviro-friendly car.
Quoteand a Hummer-tan!
If this whole "car-tan" thing ever does get off the ground, it wouldn't surprise me to see someone design one of those. I have to say I never really liked the Hummer, it always pisses me off when some asshole has a vehicle that won't fit in a single parking spot >__<. I should also mention that nothing screams "I'm overcompensating" (http://www.zazzle.co.uk/sorry_about_your_tiny_penis_t_shirt-235409682096904054) like a Hummer, but as a guy who loves muscle cars, I'm really in no position to judge...
Here's hoping I get this posted before Nej or Capt make another catty remark about one another...-__-;
Priuses aren't that green, Top Gear once pitted a prius against a BMW V8, had the prius "race" at highway speeds on their track with the BMW following her, and the Beemer was more fuel-efficient...
So a Prius-tan should hang out with moviestars and pretend to be green while she's actually not so...
Quote from: "IanDanKilmaster"Here's hoping I get this posted before Nej or Capt make another catty remark about one another...-__-;
Most posts of Nej lately can be ignored as far as i've read them, and the Captain just cares about this forum to let Nej rape it....
Ignorance->Bliss=False, in this case, since it'd actually make some sense if you were trying to understand that I don't always troll, fgds.
Also this thread made me want to play racing games, so NFSUc get.
Anyway how's the spread of "green" fuels around the world? We've got charging poles for electro cars and some bio-gas stations, as well as E85 in most gas stations, but nothing outside the cities. We seem to be a pretty green nation i think, too, so I dunno if it's like that for other places too, or is it?

I have seen a total of zero in my state, and I seriously doubt the movement will make it's way to my small-ass town. You'll find that I complain very often of the locals' resistance to change (to me it seems it's an attitude that's very common across the southern U.S.). Even in my travels to and through Texas, I didn't notice any "green" fueling stations (emphasis on the word "notice").
Texas, oh you.
True, that might be the last place that sees an automobile fueled with something else than petroleum...
I should mention, despite all the stereotypes, Austin, TX is really quite progressive. If there's any place I've been that has them, that would be it, but I didn't see any (of course, I wasn't looking for them either). Of course, progressive is really subjective in this case, coming from a small town guy's perspective. I would be really surprised to see any "green" stations in this state, but I've heard the state capital might have some.
The only green stations you'd see are the painted ones, huh~ -w-
QuoteThe only green stations you'd see are the painted ones, huh~ -w-
Beyond Petroleum my ass...
To avoid any possible confusion I may be causing, Texas is not my home state. Hence, no real motive to speak ill of it...
In the Marine Corps we have replaced alot of our troop transport busses with natural gass ones... son of a beach if they arnt a pain when they run out of gas... cant just send someone to the next gas station for more.
Waaayyyyyy too big dude. 18 wheelers: NOOOOOOOOOOO
@18wheeler : prime optitan ?
Prime necro-tan? VERY NO.
Here is an idea. (Aside from the whole give-it-up-now thing.)
How about max speed determines overall height, torque determines muscle size, etc...
So an F1 car would be about 6" and a golf buggy is about 4".
(An F-Zero car is 7")
THIS THREAD WAS STARTED 2 YEARS AGO HOLY MOTHER OF GOD GIVE ME A BREAK THATS THE WORST NECRO I'VE SEEN TO DATE
sorry >>
Yeah, this is a pretty bad necropost, but THIS (http://ostan-collections.net/viewtopic.php?t=110) is the worst one yet, bumping a topic from 2005!
Now, I'm not going to close this thread if there really is interest in this topic. Is anyone still interested in this?
....
....
*crickets chirp*
five.... years.... ;269
anyway, i think the thread died for a reason.. :P
What's the deal with necroing to ten anyway? Those same ten posts could be made in active threads, but why post in long dead threads? It's so stupid.
Anyway, I think it's safe to say that most of the interest in this thread has pretty much fizzled out and is safe to close...
I agree. There's plenty going on in the Topicless thread and the forum games section!
I'll wait just a little longer to see if any interest pops up. Going once... going twice...
Hi!
Car-tans go where?
Saturn Sky and Pontiac Soltice-tan
[/PLUG-OLA]
^ Those are really good, and those are car-tans with style! :D I especially like their wings, and contrast in personalities!
Why thank you. :3
pretty! could you draw me a pedovan-tan?? :3
or a VW Bus-tan? :3
I have a soft spot for the VW Bus, so I'll get right on that! (I might try making a pedovan-tan too, lol xD)
Quote from: "RIT_ninja"350Z tan!

+1 for R32-tan also a AE86-tan would be nice

sorry, didn't mean to "beat a dead horse"
Trueno-tan looks great but could use a few modifications....
*saves pic and opens up photoshop*
thanks goes out to the original artist...whoever she/he is and to VonDaab for posting it and though I respect the artists ideal/work I've become a bit attached to this "tan" (seeing how I own a AE86/Trueno myself)
So I've decided to do a few modifications.
Behold trueno-tan version 1.0 (rough draft)
I thought the whole initial d thing was a bit cliche, so I removed the background. Also, the pin-stripes on the ears are gone; as well as the two tone design on the tail. i also removed the little Toyota emblem/necktie; as it was clashing with the streamline style of the character.
I'm planning on completely redrawing a trueno-tan from scratch so that I can really get my idea's down on paper, without having to do too much photoshoping.

He tends to draw a lot of bunnygirls, which I good, and also some other "car-tans", which can be found in the slightly older works.

Coz' Maglev requires a mag-railway you goodthinker... :/ ;054 ;hi
Then you could have maglev only on roads that will be adapted with a mag-railway under the surface.
And even if you just convert only freeways as mag-railways it is however a waste of electric energy lost in activating continuously super-conductors to make cars running in any point of the railway.
A maglev train activates the super-conductors magnetes just when it passes, so it consumes big quantity of electricity every time it passes, but just any each run it makes.
Hundreds of thousands of cars on a huge maglev circuit freeway system will drain a whole state electric energy daily production.
Antigravity it is, then.
OR a shitload of fusion reactors...
