i have found that cleaning my room gives me such a sense of relief that i couldn't have before, because my room at home was just so staggeringly large that i couldn't keep up with it, now that i have a much smaller living space i like it a lot more

so i'm being forced to watch the first two hunger games movies. seems Steve has it in his head about going on a double-date to see the new one in november, but since i haven't seen any of them till now he needs to get me up to speed. the whole experience has me rolling my damn eyes out of my head but if he digs it, i'm gonna at least give it a try. i just hope it goes both ways, since if he's a constant taker or the hunger games is all he decides to talk about, we're gonna have a serious sit down.

Hunger Games isn't my cup of tea but it's decent as far as YA franchises go. If anything my biggest complaints are the heavy-handed allegorical themes (A SMALL RICH OVERCLASS VS. POOR STARVING MASSES, isn't that JUST LIKE OUR WORLD TODAY?!), the lack of background information on /how/ society got as fucked up as it is (at least in the movies — I feel like there's a much more interesting story behind the one we're actually seeing), and the Obligatory Romantic Subplot™, but the vast majority of authors seem to believe that romance (preferably heterosexual) is a necessary part of any work of fiction so that's really more of a medium-wide complaint. Entertain watching it — even if it's only for Steve — and if you still can't stand it, let him know you didn't enjoy it and want to find some other things you can enjoy (or at least tolerate) together.

@bells: even if i HATE it i'm gonna tolerate it for the sake of give and take. the first two movies are 5 hours, and considering there's only 4 planned (third coming out late Nov.), i think i can bite the bullet on this one. i don't see it becoming a focal point, and if he tries to make it one, i'm gonna be frank and honest that i have no interest but saw it all for his sake because i care. and that if he wants to make it up to me, let's marathon Kaiba or both Addams Family movies or schedule some time off so we can go do something.
