I feel like I'm becoming an old hag because more and more often I find myself being baffled/enraged by new youth trends.

Remember when dubstep was new and popular and people complained about it because it was all loud noises and industrial sounds and BASS DROPPING? Well now there's something called "Vaporwave" and it is literally 20 second clips of elevator music played over and over and over and over again with reverb turned up and some weird ambient noise. Also for some reason it's associated with shitty faux-80s computer graphics-style artwork??? And Japan?? ? But it's not actually Japanese.

Seapunk? What the bloody fuck's seapunk?! At first i hoped it was like steampunk but on, like, boats, but no, it's more shitty graphic design and pseudo-cool music. But this time with dolphins and palm trees!

I feel like i'm going to be chasing children off my lawn with a cane at any point now.

I know that feel, except I seem to float in a void; I don't understand the kids who are all "yolo swag" and I don't understand the old people who are all "crack-a-lackin'" :\

While I was never fond of dubstep, I was more baffled by the immense hatedom it had; one of my cousins (Dad's side of the family, surprisingly) made it out to be the single worst thing to ever happen to music and is directly responsible for the death of Jimi Hendrix >_>
But, TBH I wonder how much staying power any of these will have. I remember vaguely of a genre of rock called "crabcore" a few years ago, which died almost as quickly as it began.

Lastly, I read "vaporwave" as "vaporware", and my thoughts immediately went to Half-Life 3 ^^;;

(BTW, I'll likely be on after 10PM your time, if you're around)

>be me at the bus stop, around quarter-past 10
>playing a puzzle game on my phone to pass the time
>someone else comes along (at this point, we were the only two people there)
>when suddenly
>BAM
>a car zooms past the both of us, and a passenger in the front seat tosses a KFC drink out the car window, laughing
>it hits the other guy
>his pants are now covered in soda
>he's pissed off
>mfw

I feel like punching a nigga.

Wow, crabcore happened only a few years ago?  I feel younger all of a sudden.

Survived the Second Grader-pocalypse and the Chickenpocalypse two days in a row.

I helped my friend move today. Her mother didn't exactly make it any easier. Got caught in the rain at the end and my hair got all frizzy. Have to borrow the van tomorrow to get the boxspring, since her mother refused to let her have the mattress if we didn't take the BS too. Gonna toss it when we get it. So burnt. Gonna nap.

@Kari: I interpreted "BS" as "bullshit" instead of "boxspring" ^^;
Also, as far as moving, I'm reminded of some of the times I helped my sister and bro-in-law move. Some amusing moments; like when the rain came pouring down right as Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks" came on the radio xD

@Stew: "Chickenpocalypse" just makes me think of what happens when you attack the chickens in Zelda LOL

stewartsage

That's sort of what happened, but in reverse.

Bella

@Stew: What in tarnation is a Chickenpocalypse?

Also, I hope your inoculations are up to date after dealing with a horde of schoolchildren. >>

@Kari: Blergh, moving. ><

@Leaf: What an inconsiderate ass.

Cockleshell

i got my JOL card, i can now legally chase down pedestrians without getting dinged on not having a license!
What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's an oyster with two figures of your favorite Touhou characters. Look again, the figures are now vials of the Hourai Elixir. Anything is possible when your waifu smells like Old World and not a man. I'm a frog.

stewartsage

My innoculations against.... elementary school kids?

It's letting the chickens out of the coop for the first time.

@Cockle: Hooray!!

@Stew: No no, chicken pox, whooping cough, measles, mumps, and whatever else is popular with the kids these days.

SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU HAD CHICKENS???!!!?

@Genpop: I worked today. Go me!

All I really accomplished today was replacing the CMOS battery in Penti-chan -w-;
(Also, kinda bored as everybody seems to be busy :\)

Chocofreak13

ugh, you guys and your jobs and achievements and here i am just looking like a kawaii potato. ;^;
at least i finished my book last night. and i'm gonna start a new book (Grossman's "Japanese Without a Teacher", 1927) today.

@pent: actually, bullshit is accurate here. because moving, placing, and taking it was complete and utter bullshit.

we got a bit more done yesterday, but arty lollygagging means we were there until 5pm. >>;
we're making the final pass on wednesday. this is gonna be "fun". >>;

on the upside, the strawberry festival is this saturday, meaning it's bookfair time. after that, we drive an hour and a half up to barrington to hit up the greatest yard sale in history. (Alex has informed me that a guy got 2 chainsaws there yesterday for 10 bucks.)
