I am using Ubuntu Linux with Windows XP and Windows 7 running in Sun VirtualBox VMs. The majority of my work is unix-based, so it just makes sense for me.

coldReactive

Time I updated my compooter spec I bet.

ASUS Tower...

-- ATI Radeon 5750 1 GB (OEM)

-- 450 Watt Power Supply (Because ASUS Only loads the minimum needed power supply, always. OEM)

-- AMD Phenom II X6 2.6 (SIX CORES FOR REALS, and not just threads. Goddess, I hate Intel for making HyperThreading... but I guess that means AMD can never do it. YAY!)

-- ASUS 24" 1080p LCD Monitor (DVI)

-- 8 GB Of RAM (OEM)

-- 1 TB Harddrive (This Brings the WEI Score down to 5.9, very slow HDD, but the processor makes it work like it's faster. OEM)

-- DVD-RW Drive (OEM)

-- Windows 7 x64 OEM from ASUS

I really need to upgrade the power supply to like 800 Watts then get an Nvidia GTX card of some kind (480 or 470?)

-Sony DRU-530A DVD-RW drive (free)

-Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB hard drive

-DGM 22" monitor (1680x1050 DVI) (possibly free)

-SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (free)

-Saitek Cyborg V1 gaming keyboard

-Trust GXT 14S gaming mouse

Best way to find system specs on any Windows machine:

Start > Run (if windows XP or older)> dxdiag

Start > Type (if Vista or newer) dxdiag

The DirectX Diagnostic Tool has information on most of your stuff.

Interesting. I remember the default memory for LAMBDA's graphics card being 1gb, and the sticker says it goes up to 2303MB; dxdiag tells me the video memory is "approximately 2798mb". Wtf?
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

Red-Machine

Well, it'll be using either TurboCache (if it's nVidia) or HyperMemory (if it's ATI) which uses system RAM to supplement dedicated video RAM.  Windows might be doing something a little different than the manufacturer expected when they said 2303MB.

TurboCache it says, and it's an nVidia, so yeah - funny though, still...
