Same here. Wasn't that one of Gainax's first series?

they have a blue and a red one. thought it was pretty cool. -w-

as for Nadia, it was Gainax's first full-length tv series, airing 1990-91.

Apparently, troubles behind the scenes of Nadia is rumored to be one of the contributing factors to the original Evangelion being so...Evangelion-y

Bella

@Kari and Pent: Interesting, I didn't know either of those things! I have no idea what went on behind the scenes with Nadia, but i'm gonna look it up. It must've been awful if it inspired Evangelion's .... Evangelion-ness. o.o

I think the "Evangelion is complete mindfuck" thing is grossly exaggerated.

Chocofreak13

@pent: definite "evangelion-y". >>;;;

the power went out. watched the first 10 minutes of Yumekui Merry (Dream Eater Merry), then switched gears so mum had something to watch too, and we watched the first episode of Joshiraku and Princess Jellyfish.

By "Evangelion-y", I mean how odd it got toward the end; like, the whole thing with the last 2 episodes of the original series being considered to take place in Shinji's mind, and other such things that still make more sense than the second half of End of Evangelion. It's rumored that problems behind the scenes of Nadia contributed to this, but it's mostly declining budget, a risk of Gainax going completely bankrupt, and the head writer of the series suffering from depression at the time.

Chocofreak13

gainax is just a trippy studio to begin with. after all, they have to their name Daicon IV and Panty and Stocking, as well as Mahoromatic, Abenobashi, Dantalian, Corpse Princess and Gurren Lagaan. -w-
