not superstision, fact.  its an old soldiers trick... you can drink all the water you want but if your not getting salt you can still kill your self by sweating too much.  if you pop a small pile of salt in your mouth and you are deficiant your body reacts to it in a way that makes it taste like candy so you can get it down and will get more.
